Best Hotel Bars in Austin | Eater Austin

"At the Dawson neighborhood’s Colton House Hotel, this all-day cafe welcomes families and pays close attention to its cocktail, beer, and wine offerings. There’s a comfortable indoor space with jewel-toned furniture and wood-paneled walls and an expansive outdoor patio with bistro tables, lush lawns, and scenic trees. The cocktail menus offer alcohol and zero-proof options. Drinks rotate out on a seasonal basis, and the Brewed Blues section highlights coffee and tea drinks with spirits, like the Wake Me Up! with Dripping Springs vodka, cafecito, dark brown sugar, and double espresso." - Taylor Tobin

What a cute little hidden gem! Went with my sister for a drink and it surprised me how beautiful this coffee shop is. From the moment you enter feels boujee and sophisticated! They have various areas and each has different theme and style. The backyard is stunning and it can also be a place to relax, work or hangout with friends. I loved the atmosphere and the service was good. Delicious drinks! I’ll be back for sure ! Highly recommend! They validate parking so that’s a plus !!

Google
In my opinion the best coffee shop to work at in Austin. So much seating options both inside and outside and the validated parking garage so I never have to worry about fighting for a spot. I wish their coffee was better, but I still come back for the vibes

Cute spot for sinks. Great outdoor area and several areas within the hotel to enjoy your cocktails.

Google
Fabulous ambience and service, and you have to order one of their giant almond croissants, toasted extra crunchy…so good ….and their upstairs is like a British gentleman’s club—in the very best way!

Simona’s is one of my favorite hotel bars in Austin! I love their coffee + cocktail concept and the store is just super cute and photo worthy. They have a safe and indoor parking lot outside of the shop. The store is beautifully designed and it’s generally not too noisy and good for both working and gatherings. I particularly love to chill on their outdoor patio (by the poolside) when the weather is nice. Their coffee is great, and the bar has a lot of cocktail options as well. If you need some small bites, there’s also a local food truck outside of the bar. You could simple place your order by scanning the QR code presented on each table. I’ve tried there queso and chips and they were pretty good.

Google
This coffee shop is a hidden gem. It’s cute and luxe looking. It’s a great place to do work, the music is not loud and there is a lot of space and variety of seating. There are even nice spaces outside. I got a latte with their homemade vanilla syrup and a blueberry muffin. The coffee was good and the muffin was excellent and big.

Google
Get an ID scanner so your bartenders are not falsely accusing people of using a fake ID. Throwing around a felony accusation is not only embarrassing but simply makes me not want to come back. This places feels like all of the budget went towards design instead of the basics like good service and good drinks.

Okay, I have nothing but GREAT things to say about Simona’s. So it is inside of Colton House so don’t get confused. There is a parking garage right next to the entrance of Simona’s. Everything about this place is a cozy aesthetic dream! The downstairs where the coffee shop is, is light and has great big windows of the gorgeous outside pool area. The upstairs area is a bit cozier and darker to curl up with a good book. The food truck was so delicious, it was very filling! I will 100% be back to do some reading in this lovely place (:

Yelp
Randomly found this spot on the maps! Simona Coffee and Cocktails is such a charming spot! It has the perfect blend of cute and cozy, making it ideal for working or studying. The upstairs area has a modern library vibe, complete with comfortable seating that encourages you to focus. We tried the Tom's Diner latte and the From Eden cocktail, and both were fantastic. The cocktail was refreshing, a perfect balance of flavors. But let's talk about that latte--if you're a fig lover, Tom's Diner will blow your mind. I've never had a latte like it before; it's so unique, rich, and full of flavor that I'm still thinking about it. Truly one-of-a-kind!

Yelp
One of the few places in Austin that has maintained quality over the years and remains my go-to coffee shop to meet up with people or just read a book. The service is quick and friendly, there are bakery items including an option or two for gluten-free folks like me, and now even a food truck with freshly prepared tacos! The furniture is comfortable, the noise level allows proper conversation, and the patio is beautiful.

Yelp
Simona's Coffee and Bar, located inside the Colton House Hotel, is such a charming spot! The interior is super cute and modern, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. They also validate parking if you buy a drink, which is a nice perk. As someone who doesn't drink coffee or alcohol very much, I appreciated their variety of teas and non-alcoholic beverages--plenty of options for everyone. This would be a great place for a first date or just to hang out with friends. The intimate and stylish vibe makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some good company. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Great place to co-work with friends or on your own. Simona's is located behind the Colton House hotel. There is free parking in the garage with your purchase. Just let the cashier know you need parking validation! The space is filled with modern, clean furniture. Absolutely beautiful. High and low tops downstairs, and couches and high tops upstairs. There's also a ton of seating in the backyard outside. Tacos are great, and love that you can get both coffee, teas and cocktails. I get alot of work and meetings done here! Highly recommend in the South Austin area.

Yelp
I've been to Simona's a few times, and I've always been happy with the experience! Parking lot is a little weird and small, but the bar validates parking up to 4 hours, which makes up for it. The menu itself is not extensive, but it has some classics and some delicious cocktails. Coffee, as well! Service is quick and the bartenders are friendly and always happy to give you a personal recommendation when stuck between a few options. The vibes are immaculate, as well. The decor and design inside is perfection. If you are ever in the area, I recommend checking it out!

Yelp
Simona's is the perfect setting for your next study date, friend date, or solo coffee date! The cafe is located inside the Colton House Hotel, just south of SoCo, and offers validated parking (I believe up to 2-3hr). My favorite part about Simona's is easily the vibes and aesthetics. Between the layout, the furniture, the music... someone clearly put a lot of thought and effort into elevating the look n feel of this cafe. Even the tiles in the bathroom got me thinking about how I can cop their style for my own home! There's ample indoor seating, both upstairs and downstairs, and every corner is immaculately decorated. Be warned, though -- a gorgy place like this won't stay secret for long and is bound to blow up with influencers. I've only been in for coffee, but Simona's also has cocktails and food. If their espresso drinks are any indication of their other offerings, I'll definitely be coming back for more. Staff are super chill and always seem to be chatting up regulars at the bar. Be back soon!!

Yelp
This is truly one of my favorite places in town. The ambiance is on point and everything they serve is delicious. Even the food truck outside is great. This is a hidden gem, which is part of what makes it so great.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast and to get some work done. Quiet and spacious with plenty of seating inside and outside. The breakfast tacos are big and filling. Super cute aesthetic and highly recommend if in the area!

Yelp
Simona's, the bar inside Colton House, offers a delightful experience for those seeking a casual yet elegant spot to unwind with a drink. The outdoor patio, boasting a stunning view of the sunset and the pool area, sets the stage for a perfect al fresco evening. DOG FRIENDLY! One standout feature of Simona's is its unwavering commitment to being dog-friendly both inside and outside the hotel, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. I had my dog with me, and she thoroughly enjoyed her time hanging out and socializing with another friendly pup in attendance that afternoon. This adds an extra layer of charm to the place, making it not only a human-friendly but also a pet-friendly establishment. COOL VIBES! The cool vibe and friendly staff contribute to the overall positive ambiance, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a drink or two. While the cocktails and wines are described as delicious, it's worth noting that the prices lean towards the higher end. For instance, a glass of sparkling rosé and the tempting cocktails each come with a price tag of around $16. Despite the cost, the bartender, whose name unfortunately wasn't obtained, was praised for being really nice and friendly. FREE PARKING! A suggestion for improvement is the potential introduction of a happy hour in the future, which could further enhance the appeal for patrons looking for a more budget-friendly experience. On the bright side, the availability of plenty of free validated parking is a significant plus, making Simona's a convenient choice for those looking to relax without the hassle of parking concerns. Overall, Simona's at Colton House is a fantastic spot for a drink, offering a perfect blend of atmosphere, views, hospitality, and a pet-friendly environment.

Yelp
A good place to co work, meet up with friends or more formal setting to chill. It's located inside a hotel and took a while to walk to if youre entering from the lobby. I like their latte and they also have some pastries options. There is outdoor seating which is great on a nice weather day, there are some greenery to look at which ease the eyes and feel like a tropical oasis almost. It is quite a busy place so if youre taking a meeting, there might be chatter in the background and music. I'd definitely come back if I need to work with a friend or group.

Yelp
5/5 for atmosphere, service, and coffee! The whole place is instagram-able and it was perfect for remote work. We ordered basic lattes and they tasted great. Our barista was awesome! (Hah... Glad we didn't get the rude one another yelper had gotten) Free parking with validation too. Can't wait to share this spot with family and friends visiting!
google avatar

Jaesel P.

Yelp
This place is so aesthetic & peaceful. The parking was a little hard to understand because the place is like behind in the back of a hotel I believe but the parking is free as long as you buy something from Simona's. They validate it for you. The staff was so kind and chill, they suggested me their lavender latte And it was delicious. They have so much seating downstairs & upstairs. They have like a library with more seating upstairs also. There are many instagram worthy picture areas at Simona's! Definitely a place to check out!

Yelp
The spring-like weather yesterday called for a patio with conversation and cold cocktail sipping. Behind Colton House Hotel you'll find Simona's cocktail and coffee bar. Inside are comfortable couches, plenty of seating, and large windows for great lighting and a beautiful view of the outside. The outside has tables, big comfy chairs, manicured greenery, and a pool. Although the atmosphere is missing the kind of unique character that truly delights an Austinite, it has the studiedly inoffensive personality you'd expect from a hotel. Our weather is what makes the patio great. I bet it is a good place to work remotely.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces for lounging and co-working. I came with a friend and it was perfect weather and atmosphere for chatting and knocking out emails. The baristas were friendly and assisted in our transition from coffee to beers. The little store has tons of snacks, and I imagine its ok to bring your own snacks too. The indoor area was a bit over-air-conditioned, like most hotels, so I would bring a layer. Outside, you are allowed to use their cute blankets to cover up when it gets chilly. Parking is validated for the garage, so that made things super easy. Lots of access to outlets, which I always appreciate for working on my laptop. I will definitely be back and bringing my co-working crew.

Yelp
I love the space in this coffee house. It's very nicely decorated and super spacious. There's two levels inside the shop and there's an outdoor area that overlook a small pool. Inside feels like one of the common areas from one of the many luxury apartment buildings but they turned it into a coffee shop. You can get cocktails and coffee here. We got the Austin overcast and fig fancy. Austin is a earl grey tea with lavender and vanilla syrup but it was pretty good and I think it's because of the Hugo tea they used. I liked the fig fancy drink a lot because it was different. It's not often I see fig and caramel as the sweetener with an espresso drink. I have to say the drink prices are a bit high for what it is or the new normal, I'm not sure anymore. It was pretty packed on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon but the outside was empty. I think it's great to meet a friend and chat here. This is part of the Colton House Hotel and if you buy something from the coffeehouse, you can get 4 hrs of parking validation which I think is very nice.

Yelp
Love this place! Great ambiance & delicious drinks. They also comp parking. Service was good- friendly & timely.

Yelp
Such a gorgeous space to work from! The music is light and perfect for a work session. The furniture is very comfortable for long work sessions. There is a food truck right outside by the deck if you're craving something else outside of the coffee shop menu. The mocktails are delicious and the service was excellent. Parking is free for the first hour but if you're staying longer then your parking can be validated at the coffee shop.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful place to study and enjoy some coffee and cocktails. I tried their "Down To Kokomo" which was a matcha with strawberry and vanilla, one their house specials. It was so yummy! I would come back just to have it again. Thank you to our friendly barista who recommended it. They also validate up to 4 hours of parking with your Simona's purchase and offer sweets and pastries from Teal House Coffee and Bakery (the best cinnamon rolls in Austin). Definitely on my list of favorite coffee shops in Austin.
google avatar

Mary L.

Yelp
Such a comfy beautiful place, with excellent cocktails and friendly service. I want to come back for coffee and to try the outside patio when it's not so hot. I like the convenience covered parking (validated on request). I was not a big fan of the live music. It was so loud on the day I was there, it made conversation impossible.
google avatar

Raquel S.

Yelp
This place is tricky to find so follow these directions: the driveway to get to the parking deck is to the left of the hotel front. Drive all the way to the end of the building to get to the parking garage entrance, park immediately after you go through the parking gate. The two glass doors next to the parking gate are the entrance to Simona's. You're welcome! Be sure to bring your parking ticket in because they validate for 4 hours. I met a friend here for happy hour recently (Christmas 2022) after reading reviews online. Unfortunately they DO NOT HAVE HAPPY HOUR DRINK SPECIALS anymore. We each had a cocktail and a glass of wine and both were good. They have a small pastry case and a refrigerator with premade sandwiches. We were told there's a food truck outside usually too, but it wasn't open the day we were there. They have a cute outdoor space that will be awesome when the spring weather arrives. Since I got lost trying to find the coffee shop I took a nice walking tour of the Colton Hotel. It's super cute!!
google avatar

Schuyler S.

Yelp
Bar/coffee shop in the back of the Colton Hotel. Super cool/fancy vibe. In the hotter months they will have the pool open in the back. So many spots for IG photo shoots. The barista bartenders were super nice and very accommodating! I'd you can get in and out in under 10 minutes, parking is free.
google avatar

Jihee Y.

Yelp
It's a very cozy and nice cafe full of antique furniture.and I also like the fancy outdoor seating. If you order a drink, you can get a 4-hour free parking ticket I strongly recommend this cafe to those who come to South congress

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful place. Great ambiance - if you're looking for a quiet study area to enjoy your coffee their upstairs is perfect for that. The lower level has more of a relaxed hangout bar feel. Really enjoyed their coffee and tea!
google avatar

Sierra B.

Yelp
The atmosphere is bright and modern, but also cozy. Great for both working in a group or working individually. There is a porch outside and a quiet upstairs area as well. The taco truck is to DIE for! The baristas are phenomenal! Very kind, attentive, and knowledgeable! Specifically Tiffany and Elly have an absolute joy to be around. All staff I've ever come across have been friendly and attentive. Love the positive vibes and return whenever I can!
google avatar

Rachelle J.

Yelp
What a gem of a place! If you like good aesthetics, you will love this place. Perfect for a refreshing afternoon drink or a late night girls night or date. Their mocktails are delicious as well so you don't need to feel dismissed by the bartender because you aren't buying a "real drink". Feel supported in sticking to your health plans here! Lovely outdoor patio and parking is validated after you pay for your drinks. There are small bites as well throughout the day. Will be back here for sure.

Yelp
I was really excited to check out Simona's after seeing it listed in an article of ATX coffee shops to work in. It is located inside/attached to the Colton House Hotel and overlooks their pool. The aesthetic and vibes are a dream and I would love to hire whoever designed the space! There is limited parking available for coffee shop guests in the garage but the spots are limited to 2 hour parking with towing enforced. There are tons of seating options and the atmosphere is pretty upscale but relaxed and quiet. They serve both craft coffee and cocktails, many of which looked really enticing. I ordered the mexi-mocha (12oz iced) which was $7+$1 tip. In my opinion this was pretty pricy for the area but I think thats common for cafes inside of hotels. The drink was enjoyable but was a bit thick/heavy. I felt that their mocha was a bit over powering and the espresso got lost in the mix. I sat in the upstairs area and began working however after only about 30 minutes the wifi went down. I worked on some items offline hoping that the little blip would be resolved however after an hour of that it was still down and others around me were talking about how this happens frequently there and they always bring their hotspot. I decided to head out to a new location to focus on some other work. Overall I would say this is a great location for a coffee with a friend or a brief work meeting. It is super instagramable, but I wouldn't suggest camping out here to get a ton done.
google avatar

Tomas R.

Yelp
I am so happy to have discovered Simona's because I'll definitely be adding this to my rotation of co-op spots. Not only was the coffee great, but they have a full bar. This shop is so adorable and with all of the natural lighting it makes for the perfect spot. What really stood out to me was the outdoor patio adjacent to the pool. For those who need a small bite, they have a few treats and edibles. I really enjoyed them having electric jellyfish on draft!344 They also have two gender neutral bathrooms with a shared sink.
google avatar

Shara C.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance. Standard hotel bar otherwise. I just wish they had better food options.
google avatar

Jamie K.

Yelp
The place has cute vibes and our drinks were tasty, but sadly we won't be back after our first time. Someone else on Yelp already mentioned the extremely rude barista with the long brown hair a month ago, and it seems like we also had an encounter with her on Sunday. I admittedly didn't tip at the counter because she was short with us to begin with and the drinks were more expensive than other places, but right after my friend ordered and tipped the barista said loudly/sarcastically, "omg thank you SO much for tipping". After we found a spot to sit, she hand delivered the drink to my friend and said she put extra spirit in her drink, then turned to me and said "your drink is at the counter, you need to go get it". We were shocked and felt harassed. I've never been treated like this anywhere I've ever been in my life at coffee/drinks, whether or not I have decided to tip. This aggressive behavior is a fire-able offense and my friend and I both do not feel comfortable coming back to this hostile atmosphere.

Yelp
Went to check out this beautiful coffe shop on a rainy day. We needed a change of scenery from working at home. There is ample parking since the coffee shop is apart of the Colton house boutique hotel. Helpful Tip: park in the garage and get the coffee house to validate your parking if you're only visiting Simonas and not staying at the hotel. Be sure to make a purchase to support the business and its required for validation. If you don't mind a little noise the down stairs area is perfect for partaking in a few snacks, coffee, and/or cocktails while chatting with friends or catching up on work. However, if you need a quieter, less busy, and cozy place to work, be sure to go upstairs. There's plenty of space to spread out and get your work done in a very cool lounge area. They have a few pastries and small bites. So, don't be overly famished if you go to Simonas. I did notice you can order food from the hotels diner I believe, but they weren't accepting orders during the time I was there. Be sure to ask the cashier or one of the other lovely people working. They're all very nice! All and all, you can't go wrong with Simona. It's a pleasant atmosphere and their coffee is actually very good. I even tried one of their cocktails and it was top notch. It was their take on an amaretto sour. Yummy!

Yelp
Happened to check out Simona's with my partner on Valentine's day! Loved the decor and vibes the place was going for. Felt fancy eclectic with a pinch of Alice in Wonderland. The library upstairs is super moody and seems like a good area to chat and catch up or get some important work in. The cafe had quite a few people for a Tuesday evening. It was mainly people just working quietly so it felt kind of weird to sit in and chat with my partner. The cappuccino I got was ok. It wasn't my favorite and was more foam than coffee. The outside patio was a nice space and it's interesting there's a pool there for the summer. From Thurs-Sun they have a little food truck on prem for American food. Definitely want to come by and check out. It's also really nice that they validate parking for up to 4 hours.

Morgan S.

Yelp
Met a friend here for tea. I've enjoyed it so much that I've been back a few times since. There is a parking garage & they validate, so it's free! We sat outside, which was lovely patio with umbrellas, & chandeliers. Super cute!! The inside was super clean and lovely! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. One of my go to places.

Yelp
SUCH A LOVELY HIDDEN COFFEE HOUSE/COCKTAIL BAR! Simona's is located inside the Colton house hotel on south Congress. There is parking in the back and parking is validated (just get your ticket sticker from the wait staff) If you haven't been to Simona's yet you are missing out, truly! This place is beautiful and elegant. My photos do not do it Justice! Coffee and fancy tea drinks are fairly priced between $3-6. It's very quiet in the mornings and very peaceful.

Yelp
Love! Great new SoCo coffee shop located inside the Colton House Hotel. The decor is very esthetic, big comfy couches, beautiful fixtures, plenty of (fake) plants. A good amount of seating but the tables are a bit small for 2 laptops. They do have a large patio with outdoor lounge and table/chair seating, with fans and heaters. I did see a dog inside so seems dog friendly! They validate parking in the hotel garage for up to 4 hours. I've been on a tea kick so no coffee review here - but they do have Hugo tea and a lovely Jasmine green with the full pearls. But let's talk about the cookie. I had one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had here. It was chocolate and brown sugar heavy, soft and gooey. I'd come back just for the cookies!! Update: the cookies come from Teal House Also check out the upstairs if not reserved. It is such a vibeeee. See additional photos

Yelp
I'm a local and this place is a total hidden gem. I had driven past many times and had no idea this was hidden in the back of Colton House. Best place in south Austin to grab a cocktail and they have some decent wines. Staff is amazing. Hands down the best espresso martini in Austin. Seating both inside and outside and the decorations are stunning. I'm not sure there is a place in south austin that is so aesthetically pleasing. Only down side is the food truck has very limited hours.

Yelp
Super friendly barista/bartenders in this cozy little hotel bar/coffee shop. Lively music plays in the background - for the downstairs - leather couches and chair frame the main seating area with bench seating along the back wall. The upstairs parlour is . . . a parlour with leather and velvet/velour seating. Some game/book toy chests are on a side for the kiddos. A wall of books line the other side. The parlour and the downstairs are connected by a staircase (elevator leads to basement parking where the main doors are). Double doors lead to the outside patio for additional seating and a view of the pool. Snacks and other foods are available along wjth all beverages. Nice place for travelers but also a chill spot for locals.
google avatar

Sabrina B.

Yelp
Easy to love coffee, tea, and cocktail spot. Friendly staff, beautiful eclectic decor. Nice restrooms. Great for socializing downstairs, but the upstairs is just as cool with a quieter vibe. Better for studying, but you can easily find an outlet downstairs. Wifi is not time-blocked and they validate up to 4 hours of parking. All of this is nice, but the best part is that their coffee is GOOD. There's seasonal drinks to try something new, but my signature drink is a knock out of the park here. Definitely see myself coming back more frequently!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to go if you're looking for a good place to have a cocktail and relax or get some work done. Super cute and right off congress without the hassle of being downtown in Austin.

Gracy M.

Yelp
What a modern stylish coffee and cocktail spot which is located in the back of the Colton House. You can park in the parking garage for free and the height was high enough for my husbands 7.5 ft height SUV could fit in. Loved the ambiance and that there were lots of different places to sit, either inside or outside. For purchase they offer more than coffee, cocktails and cocktails. They have a small variety of baked pastries like muffins, cookies, croissants and oatmeals. They have a very nice relaxing courtyard that is very chill and relaxing. Restrooms are nice and clean and the service was good. If you want a simple cool place to chill, this would be a great spot. Check it out!

Yelp
It's an easy environment to meet up and get caught up with some friends before going out for dinner. The drinks are delicious.

Yelp
So cute, loved this spot. The cocktails and coffee are really good, love the vibe and esthetics of this place. Good place for a drink and chat with a friend or even some solo quiet time.

Yelp
This place is pretty cool and it is in my hotel, so I had to try it. I suppose if I lived in this neighborhood, I would also walk by. There's parking in the garage, but I don't know how much you need to spend for validation. They gave me parking with my room at the hotel as a first time guest, and maybe they would give it to bar and cafe patrons, so stop by and check it out.

matthew l.

Yelp
Received amazing service from Katy today, I got a last word and she told me to try this offshoot of it. It's now become my favorite cocktail. Shoutout to Katy, she rocks

Yelp
What a stunning place this bar is. Stayed at the hotel for a few days with my wife for a little get away and this bar was such a pleasant surprise. Our bartender Gia was so kind and did a wonderful job with her recommendations! Every time we came down to the bar she was always so welcoming. Both our time at the hotel and bar (which was pretty frequent!) provided and overall great experience. Definitely coming back when we're in Austin!

Yelp
Usually the workers are very nice and would even deliver your drink to wherever you sat (not today tho I guess), but today I visited after not being here awhile and was very appalled by how rude a new girl was. She had long brown hair and tattoos along both her shoulders. She was very nice and talkative to the family before us but when we came up to the counter she didn't speak just really stared at us until we said something. My friend asked about water and I asked about my usual drink (black iced tea with mango purée). Her answers and tone were abrupt with attitude. I ended up not getting anything because every time I'm here they sometimes do have mango purée and sometimes they don't -- it just depends on who you're asking. I usually don't complain about workers because they might just be having a bad day however, this one didn't sit right with me.

Yelp
Great ambiance, delicious drinks. Nice place for a date night once you've had dinner.

Yelp
The employees at Simona's are always so nice! Every time I come here they always seem like they are in a good mood and are so patient. I can sometimes take a bit to order but they answered my questions and made my drink very well. I got the Fancy Fig. The cinnamon, caramel and fig went together nicely and, for someone who is not a big coffee drinker, it is the perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness. On a students budget it can be a bit pricey for some more specialty drinks, but the atmosphere and drinks do well to help me forget that. The parking is validated as well, so park in the parking garage!
