I went to Simon’s last night with a big group for dinner club. I had never been before! I left fully knowing Simon’s is the best restaurant in all of Des Moines. Right in the door, Simon accommodated us as we had a bigger party than we had planned for. Without question, he moved tables and squeezed extra chairs for us to be able to fit our entire group. We finished our amazing meal full of the best hospitality with red velvet cake that was brought out for us to sample. As I watched Simon throughout the restaurant, he was carrying 4-5 glasses of wine at a time out to people who were waiting outside to come into the restaurant. Then, I saw him bussing tables, being the food expo, and finally ending the night being our personal photographer taking a picture of our whole group for us. He even tried helping with the lighting by dimming them, and then even came outside with us to take our picture in front of his restaurant. This was not only the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had, but it is one that I want to become a regular in. I will definitely be returning with my husband for routine date nights. Thanks again, Simon, for housing and accommodating us all.

Easily one of the best dining experiences in the Des Moines area. Everything is amazing. The New York New York is my favorite. Fills up fast but they have a great waiting area next door. If you haven’t been, go soon.

Every time my family and I eat here it is amazing! EVERY TIME! For starters we had the artichoke dip with bread, then a delicious salad with house dressing and onto the sausage chicken and chicken Florentine. Omg sooooo gooood! Then they bring out a slice of homemade red velvet cake at the end, which is to die for! Best part of the whole meal is trying to leave without Simon making sure your meal was good as he knows it was. Makes me laugh every time. Love that guy!

This restaurant is an authentic dining experience. It is very busy, even on a Monday night. The host was really friendly and told us where were could wait for a table (they have a separate waiting room with comfy chairs and various games to occupy your wait). The food is amazing, and comes at a well timed pace for your dinner. Our waitress was also great, but she was tending to multiple tables, again, a busy night. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I am very impressed with this place. I decided to take my partner here for a first date and everything went well. The service was fantastic, the food was outstanding, and Simon’s professionalism was out of this world. His care for not only his business but the well-being of the customers was authentic and admirable. You don’t see a place like this very often, especially in Iowa. I will be back and I will be recommending Simon’s to everyone.

Tried a new restaurant. Loved the vibe, the food, and our server - Shorty. So fun! Simon (the owner) was in the back cooking, so we weren't able to meet him, but damn his food was good, so it's ok. 😂

First time at Simon’s tonight and knew ahead of time that there would be a wait to get a table because of how popular it is. The owner got us drinks from the bar the moment we walked in and we waited outside until a table was free. We waited about 30 minutes and then sat at the bar for dinner. Staff was very friendly and food came out quickly. We got free cake at the end of our meal and were surprised at how affordable our meal and drinks were. Would definitely recommend and we will be coming back for sure! Know ahead of time that the space is tight and the experience is pretty casual but in a homey way.

This is a hidden gem. It gives a cozy Italian family vibe. The staff are friendly and you can definitely tell that they love what they do. Simon himself was walking and checking on everyone the whole night. Our lovely server, Sarah was so nice, giving us some tips to where to go in the city. Coming here you might to wait a bit but it’s well worth the wait. Food was top notch, the steak was very tender and flavorful and was cook to the exact temperature you like. And the pasta cooked to perfection. Parking is plentiful on the side parking lot. And while you wait, you can get something to drink next door too.
