Simple Peruvian - Sunnyside

I had a delicious meal here. I got the Lomo Saltado, which is steak, onions and french fries in a tasty brown sauce. The steak was so tender and delicious! The fries were perfect and it also came with a side of rice and the Peruvian green sauce. The staff is very friendly and welcoming too! I can't wait to go back to try some of their other dishes.

4.5 Located on busy Greenpoint Ave in Sunnyside. Has been ok getting meter parking in this area. Close to the 7 train and buses on Queens Boulevard. There is a counter to place your order but we did on the kiosk, then took a number to place on our table. Food was brought to us by one of the staff, and they also cleared our table. Restaurant does not have waiter service but felt like it did anyway. Tip jar in the front on the counter. Portion size is not as large as other restaurants but the prices for some entrees are lower which was ok. Some are good for 2 people per dish, maybe 3, esp if sharing a few entrees. Lomo Saltado was tasty with tender beef strips and fried potatoes. Didn't see a lot of chicken in the Arroz Chaufa con Pollo but still liked it. Jalea was a favorite; liked it with the toppings of onions, tomatoes and cilantro and esp the green sauce. Kid's portion had quarter chicken, hotdogs and french fries with a crispy wonton wrapper. Picarones are made of squash and sweet potato, looked simple but were very good. Will have to try their chicken and ceviche next time so we shall return.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Simple Peruvian is a hidden gem! The food was absolutely spectacular — the jalea was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The airport chaufa was just as impressive, packed with bold flavors and generous portions that made it a standout dish. The sampler is a great choice as it covers all angles of the palette. On top of the incredible food, the staff made the experience even better. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, which gave the meal such a positive vibe. If you’re craving authentic Peruvian flavors in a fast casual setting, Simple Peruvian should be at the top of your list. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Simple Peruvian is simply insane! Huge portions, full of flavor, friendly service and clean. We ordered the kids meal and it has me wondering how big the kids are in Peru. The fried rice was family sized and it all came out quick. Save room for dessert. They have two unique fruit flavors and as much as I want to try it, I’m stuffed. I’m gonna need to come back and bring reinforcements. Simply delicious.

You order at the front desk even though they appeared to have servers? Personally I feel it took away from the experience and ambiance but the food is 100% worth returning. Prices were fair, portions were good.

Food was fresh & DELICIOUS! Tried the Jalea & ceviche mixto, wasn't bad at all.... my brother had their chicken & chaufa, was pretty yummy too. All in all, definitely coming back here, (finally don't have to resort to the only Peruvian spot in Sunnyside, which was Pollo Rico)...

I’ve been to many Peruvian restaurants and this is by far the best one. The place is beautiful! The menu was simple with all the best dishes. My friends and I ordered just about everything on the menu and it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back again

Very crispy and tender rotisserie chicken, very flavorful fried rice and noodles! Really felt the Chinese and Peruvian influences come out. Fast casual place that I'd love to come back to.

This Chinese-Peruvian spot delivers on flavor and execution. Chicken: Juicy perfection with a creamy green, slightly spicy sauce. I want to eat this again and again. The sauce is the star of this dish even though the chicken was perfectly cooked. Ceviche: Citrusy and vibrant. A clean, classic preparation. Choclo corn and toasted corn are a staple of this dish. I enjoy the crunchy toasted corn Jalea: Impeccably crispy fried seafood platter. Great crunch and flavor. The batter is light and crunchy. Picarones: The Peruvian donuts are delicious, slightly sweet, and the perfect finish. My son devoured all the crispy edges of one donut. Service: you can order at the counter or the kiosk and the food is brought to your table. The restaurant feels like a fast casual but the team was very attentive in bringing drinks, food and cleaning the table. Overall: A gem. Simple Peruvian is highly recommended.

Decided to try Simple Peruvian on Greenpoint Ave. During the Sunnyside food crawl, the sample was great. After looking at the menu, I went to the kiosks to order the Loco Saltado. The friendly employee checked if I ordered from the kiosk, and I did. After 5 minutes or so, my order was ready and I took it to go. The stir-fried beef was really salty (think it's the marination) even when you eat the beef with the white rice or fries to try to dilute how much sauce there is. The tomato and onions were great. Tons of fries (that I can't finish it) and a small container of white rice. Have to come back and try the cerviche and fried rice next time.

BLUF: Good chicken, upbeat service. Simple Peruvian in Sunnyside, NY, is currently my favorite place for rotisserie chicken in Queens. Dishes we've had include: - Half Chicken: $9.50; $10.34 with tax. The chicken and accompanying green sauce are above average; 4 stars out of 5. The chicken is flavorfully marinated and moist, and the green sauce has a little heat to it. - The Sampler: $16.99; $18.59 with tax. The most flavorful component of this dish was the chicken. The rice was on the mushy side. The ceviche was OK but the proteins didn't quite have the right textures. - Aeropuerto Special: $15.25; $16.60 with tax. OK; 3 stars out of 5. A mixture of thin lo mein noodles and rice with some roast pork, chicken, and shrimp. The dish seemed to have a decent wok hei, which was confusing because the chicken rice from the Sampler was on the mushy side. This dish would be much better with more proteins, and the wok hei suggests that the restaurant has untapped potential. - Papa Rellena: $8.95; $9.74 with tax. OK; 3 stars out of 5. Stuffed deep fried potatoes that seemed factory-made, instead of house-made. Atmosphere, Service, Other: The restaurant is casual, clean, and comfortable for dining in, with a mix of regular tables and booth-style seating. Those who choose to dine-in should order food at the counter, receive a number placard, and find a place to sit. Staff will bring plates, utensils, and later, one's food and drink; and will clear the table when your party is finished eating. Service is notably upbeat. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals, and start at an affordable 12%. Overall ticket time (the time between placing an order and having that order served) is reasonable. By contrast, Bayside Chicken Lovers often requires that orders be placed in advance to minimize wait time. The restroom is adequately maintained, but oddly pipes in music louder than in the main dining area. Simple Peruvian is a couple of storefronts away from Kora, which is a superb place for dessert afterwards.

Cute place to bring a big group of people or as a couple. My partner and i ordered fried rice and it was huge! We could have shared one but it makes for good left overs. You order then the food comes to you and thats it. Simple and easy. No frills. Would come back to try the other food as well. Clean new spot.

This is not a full waiter service restaurant; although there is wait staff to help you throughout your meal. Order, Pay and Tip at the front of the restaurant. Then you're given a # to take to your table. When your food is ready, they will bring it right to you. Very FAST service!!! In a blink of an eye, your food is at your table! My one critic is I wish they would space out the serving of the dishes; ALL of our dishes (Apptz, Entrees, Sides) came out all at once. So our chicken and rice & beans sat on the table getting cold, while we ate the appetizers first. MENU (shared by 4ppl): ~ Cerviche Mixto; comes with a side of your choice ($18): tasty Cerviche however, it was overloaded with onions and the seafood was chopped up into teeny tiny pieces. Not the best Cerviche. (3/5) ~ Jalea; comes with a side of your choice ($26): Nice variety of fried seafood! Fried but not greasy at all. (5/5) ~ House Salad ($9): basic salad to offset the rich food. Nothing much to say about it. lol ~ Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken ($15): This whole chicken is normally $17.50 but currently is offered for $15 as a Grand Opening Special. Delicious Rotisserie Chicken! Ask for extra green sauce! ~ Salchi Papas ($9): Nice ratio of sausages to french fries. I didn't care for the sauce that came of the side but this dish was good on its own. Ask for their green sauce instead. All in all, a nice addition to the neighborhood! Although there are other Peruvian restaurants in the neighborhood, Simple Peruvian offers it with an Asian twist. Great for fast-casual dining. Service & hospitality was friendly and welcoming. Don't forget to leave a tip!

Takeout: Fed 4 people Ordered: 1/2 pollo À la brasa Aeropuerto special Lomo Saltado Ceviche Mixto These were all really good and had tons of food. I would get a whole chicken next time if I were to reorder and I really enjoyed the ceviche and lomo saltado. Quick if you ordered ahead and very accommodating.

I came to Simple Peruvian after seeing an IG post that caught my attention, and I'm glad I did! This spot is pretty unique with its fusion of Asian and Spanish influences in the cuisine. You can order from the kiosk out front or directly at the register, and they even have a rewards program you can sign up for. We ordered a variety of dishes, starting with the Lomo Saltado, which came with a free side thanks to their grand opening promo--we chose the fried wontons (3 pieces), and they were quite good. For my main entrée, I had the Ceviche Mixto with rice & beans as the free side. The ceviche had a lot of onions, which I personally wasn't a fan of, but the side was tasty. We also tried the dumplings, which reminded me of mini empanadas, and they were enjoyable as well. The atmosphere is very casual. You seat yourself if you're dining in, and they bring the food to your table after you take a number. Overall, it's a nice little spot with interesting flavors and a laid-back vibe.

WOWW! Decided to try this place out after seeing it on TikTok, sometimes that can be a hit or miss but this spot was definitely a HIT ! We ordered the Aeropuerto Chicken , Aeropuerto Special and the Ceviche Mixto. Let's start with the ceviche, so flavorful it was so much shrimp, not going to lie I was immediately in love. Moving on to the Chinese fried rice, it was probably one of the best fried rices I've had in a while ! The flavor did not disappoint and the fact that it was mixed with fried noodles made it even better than I expected. Staff was very friendly, the girl that took my order was able to give a lot of recommendations. Anyway I never really write reviews but I just finished my food and I'm extremely satisfied, will definitely be going back to try the lomo saltado.

I ordered Chicken and tostones and spent almost $20 for just me, mind you I don't eat a lot so my order was simple and small but tell me why I ordered tostones and they look like they was fried in some oil that was used probably a million times for 3 months And that's not even crazy since this place is so expensive for just one person the piece of chicken looks like it's from a young chicken

Was close by, never ventured into Sunnyside. Found Simple Peruvian, simple but food was great. Chicken was nice and tender, fried rice was bursting with flavors and included lots of mixed meats. Ceviche was wow! Didn't expect portion to be so big. Everything was shareable. Service was fast, place your order, get a number and find a seat. Ambiance casual and clean. Would definitely return to try other things on the menu.

I passed this brand new store front while making a trip to Kora. Peruvian is one of my favorite cuisines so of course I had to order. The inside was very clean and pretty. It's a fast casual restaurant, where you order up front and get a # and they bring it to your table. I ordered to go. I got the half chicken platter which comes with salad and either a choice of fries or chicken fried rice. It was very well priced ($15) and when ordering I made sure my platter came with green aji sauce (which it did) and I didn't have to order it separately. My food came out in 10 minutes well packaged. I quickly looked in the bag to make sure the sauce was there. When I got home, I realized I got no green sauce. I was devastated because this is what makes the chicken delicious! The sauce cup I saw in the bag was the salad dressing. If I wasn't 1 hour away in LI, I would've went back because I was SO sad. Everything I did get- tasted very good. The chicken had good seasoning, the fried rice was good and the salad had more than just iceberg lettuce. If I had the green sauce this would've been a 5 star review.

Stopped by for dinner last week and was blown away by how amazing the food is. Great spot for a full Peruvian dinner or a quick half chicken lunch The space is cute and the menu is delicious, with all the Peruvian favorites. Absolutely love the Ceviche, Lomo Saltado, the best fried rice and Jalea. They food come out quick and the service is so chill and friendly

Great food. Everything was delicious. The beans were a little hard to bite though but other than that; fantastic stuff. And very quick to serve. Especially the ceviche which was surprisingly the best of all.

Chicken ran out by 8:45, but got the lomo saltado instead which was really good with tender beef

Ordered delivery so can't speak for dining in but my chicken was juicy and flavorful. Looking forward to ordering from them again.

You order at the kiosk and take a number and they bring you the food. The highlights were the roast chicken, ceviche and tostones. All the sauces we had were very delicious. The only item I would not order again is the hen soup. Reasonably priced. Attentive service. Simple quiet place to have a meal.

I went to Grand opening, boy it was packed! First you order up in the front counter, Pay and sit. My family and I ordered lomo saltado that came with a free app, the app trio, wonton soup, chirimoya ice cream and picarones. We got the wonton soup first, lacked some flavored but was full of wontons and chicken chunks. Next, the app trio which included fried wonton ( one piece), arroz Chaufa ( cold), ceviche mixto and pollo a la brasa( also cold and lacked flavor). Then we got the lomo saltado which didn't even taste like authentic lomo saltado. Then the waiter forgot our desserts so he went to get it and wreaked a good 20 mins for ice cream and picarones( Peruvian doughnuts). Ice cream was amazing of course and the picarones were ok, didn't like the fact that only 3 came out in a portion and the sauce was just drizzled on top instead of on the side or on the plate. I really liked the ice cream, so I ordered 2 to go along either picarones... boy it was the biggest mistake I did. It took over an hour to get my order right. At first they only gave me one ice cream and they forgot to put the rest in my bag. They took it back and I only had 2 ice creams and no picarones! I'm glad I checked twice because they messed up big time, shouldn't have taken that long. The staff saw how pissed off I was so they offered me a drink to go... I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. I wish them the best of luck!

I wanted to try the new spot in our neighborhood. I ordered the food through delivery. For the lomo saltado to be $20 it comes with a small side of rice which just doesn't seem worth it. Most places give sides of green sauce but none of the dishes came with sauces. The fried rice was pretty bland and a little dry. I did enjoy the flavor of the lomo saltado but something about the flavor did not taste authentic . I'm assuming this place is more Asian influenced than Peruvian. I'll give this place another shot and try it in person. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint next time.

I've been here about five times since they opened and overall, the food is great. I've tried the lomo saltado, pollo a la brasa, and ceviche, and all were delicious. However, the chirimoya ice cream was definitely not chirimoya and wasn't good. One thing that really stands out is the sauce policy. I don't mind paying extra, but $1.50 for one small sauce is a bit much--especially since none are included with your meal. If you're Peruvian, you know sauces are essential! I still recommended this place to my friends, and they loved the lomo saltado too. But the next day, they ordered aeropuerto de pollo and were mistakenly given the aeropuerto especial (which includes shrimp). One of them is allergic to shrimp, so this could have been a very serious situation. Accuracy with orders is super important, especially when allergies are involved.

OK, only had whole chicken to go so take with a grain of salt -but chicken incredibly salty. Then why 5 stars - lovely ambiance, nice people, seem really proud Peru heritage, a couple of books on Peru cuisine, Peru Andes displayed. The salt problem is easily sorted - generous 4 containers salsa verde. I prefer salsa blanca like Riko's same block so suggest add. Will def be back when family is in town to check out the menu-very very reasonable prices a real winner. Excellent addition to Sunnyside - best wishes!

Overall, a great experience! Highly recommend their lomo and chicken. Staff was super friendly and everything looked clean. Definitely coming back :)

Amazing service they were so quick to give us our plates. Full of delicious food. The food 10/10 Everything was very clean. Bathrooms were clean and spotless. Would be nice if they would put music in the main area where you eat. They do have it in the bathrooms and its all Peruvian music which we loved. Went with 11 people including kids and we all left satisfied with a full tummy. Would be awesome if they had Peruvian breakfast. Chicha was on point They have kola inglesa

Won't dine in again. I said that I asked for a salad and fries with my order, mind you I pointed at the menu and told him that verbatim. They gave me so much attitude when I asked if I could have fries, because I already ordered a rice dish so I didn't need a side of rice. He said well that's what it said on the receipt? It's French fries, not filet mignon, at that point I would've just done the self service machine or takeout. Mind you they forgot my chimichurri I paid for, and that WAS on the receipt so...ceviche didn't hit as good as the first time unfortunately. Chicken still really good and tender. Too many Peruvian chicken spots in this area to be dealing with mediocre service

Great and fresh food for reasonable prices. Julio is the best and attentive. He remembers our names even. I would definitely recommend this new restaurant to all my friends.

Fui a Simple Peruvian a almorzar y la pasé genial. El personal es súper amable, el lugar es cómodo, y todo estaba fresco--destaco el lomo saltado y el ceviche. El servicio fue rápido y el local muy limpio. Si quieres buena comida peruana, este es el lugar. ¡Definitivamente vuelvo!

Went there first time and it was a nice interior design once you walk in, the cashier was friendly and helpful showing me how the menu works. I ordered the chaufa pollo and it was very fulfilling and tasty. They give you a good portion to eat. Would definitely come again.
