"A spinoff of Old & New Taiwanese Cuisine in Kaohsiung, the name is a homophone for "new fried rice", which is a menu staple here. Signatures such as bottarga and seared scallop fried rice, and veggie fried rice with thick-cut pork cutlet exemplify the kitchen's creative take on tradition. Stir-fries are loaded with wok hei; desserts cleverly incorporate local flavours. The wood-rich decor inspired by US Chinatown diners circa 1920s adds to the fun." - Michelin Inspector

Yesterday, upon arriving in Taipei, we followed glowing online reviews and made a reservation at Sinchao Rice Shoppe, a gem of innovative Taiwanese cuisine, and it was an absolute delight! Every dish was bursting with unique flavors and creativity, showcasing a fresh take on traditional Taiwanese fare. From the perfectly balanced tastes to the vibrant presentation, each plate was a delight for both the palate and the eyes. This place is ideal for family gatherings or catching up with friends, as the diverse menu offers something for everyone to enjoy. The only downside is the ambiance—it’s fairly simple and not particularly upscale, but the food more than makes up for it. The incredible dishes and welcoming vibe make Sinchao a must-visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking to savor exceptional Taiwanese cuisine!

Food – Great presentation! The taste is unique and delicious. Service – Superb! The staff are very helpful and even offered a pillow for back support, which was such a nice touch. Atmosphere – Gives off a luxurious vibe with a lovely view that really elevates the dining experience. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but if you’re feeling a little boujee on your trip, this place is worth the splurge. And don’t skip the rib eye steak fried rice — it’s their best seller for a reason!

Excellent modern Taiwanese food with fusion flare. We really enjoyed all the food. Standouts were the steak fried rice and the fried chicken. Overall, the food was excellent. Service was very friendly. Restaurant was packed and ambiance was fun. Great place for lunch or dinner and people watching.

The service and food were all wonderful. We enjoyed our time here. The fried rice wasn’t amazing but definitely some of the best scallops, braised pork, fried pork chop and chicken karaage I’ve had. Desert was just top notch. We had flan, black sesame glutinous rice balls, and crème brûlée basque cheesecake- all amazing and must haves.

Sleek settings and tasty dishes that taste as great as they look. Service was great and food came out fast. Don’t skip the appetizers, the tomato jelly was my favorite dish of the night.

Really enjoyed my meal here. There are quite busy so they are strict with the time limits, but other than that I would be very happy to return. Some modern twists on familiar flavors and high quality ingredients. The beef stirfry had a deep wok-hey flavor that lingered on my palate even hours later. Service was a bit rushed, but in line with the time limit situation I suppose. Will definitely be back to try more dishes.

Perfect ambience for a quiet filling meal with 2 or 3 people. Elegantly furnished more like a club than a Chinese food place, a wide range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are served. Being familiar with their traditional Taiwan old and new restaurants, their menu is a big departure from their roots. However, despite the modern take, the deliciousness is still there😊 The duck leg was really good, and so was the squid. The fried pork chop rice yummy too albeit a little greasier than expected.

Excellent place for Taiwanese food. Everything is nicely presented which adds to the overall experience. Plates are shareable so 4-6 people are probably best. However 2 people can enjoy a feat meal with 2-3 dishes
