Raise a Toast to Bartenders With Tequila Cocktails at These NYC Bars | Eater

"How about some spectacle with your serving of Teremana? Pours here tend to come with presentation, but they don’t need it to impress. Singlish cocktails recreate classic combinations with new ingredients that spin them in wild directions. It’s a perfect fit for the multiculturalism in Singapore that inspires the bar’s founding. The ornate bar sits presidentially over a relaxed wooden design whose simplicity feels refined rather than basic. Go ahead and order a second cocktail; you’re really going to want to eat here. As with the interiors, iconic orders like duck tongue or jellyfish balance luxury and the essential. And hey: the fries are great, too." - Brendan McGinley

Singlish - Review - Union Square - New York - The Infatuation

"When you walk into Chard, a hawker center-inspired takeout spot near Union Square from the Laut team, you’ll see a large unmarked black door that seems entirely out of place and is too ornate to lead to a storage closet for cleaning supplies. Head up the stairs behind the door, and you’ll find this Singaporean cocktail bar with dark wood, chandeliers, and metal lanterns similar to ones you’d find in Morocco. The text-heavy and illustrated menu reminds us of ones we’ve seen at The Dead Rabbit, with a mix of fruity drinks (a Singapore Sling, for example) and liquor-forward cocktails like a savory martini made with salted egg and chili oil. At $20-$45, the cocktails are pricey, even for NYC—but they’re unique and expertly-made with a variety of Southeast Asian ingredients. If you want some snacks, you can get small plates that you won’t find at any other bars such as ginger scallion-braised duck tongues and soy-seasoned jellyfish. Singlish is a great laid-back spot to catch up with some friends after dinner, but it only has room for about 20 people, so it’s a good idea to make a reservation if you don’t handle rejection well." - Kenny Yang

Singlish is a fantastic bar in NY! The cocktails are incredibly creative and delicious, and the vibe is unmatched—cool, lively, and full of energy. Perfect spot for a fun night out. Highly recommend! Reserve your spot in advance.

Google
Ambience is nice and staff are friendly. Personally think it is more of a novelty than anything. Drinks are alright? You should check it out if you have never been here. Definitely some level of novelty with the drinks. But will I come back here again? Hmm. Probably not.

Google
With a great atmosphere and even better drinks, Singlish provides a great backdrop to a night with friends. By backdrop I literally mean the place looks like a movie set for an old classic. The drinks themselves are well-balanced and not light, ensuring you taste both the alcohol and the secondary tastes. The craft cocktails at Singlish that have excellent execution and are well-thought out, making you want to order just one more before you go.

Best Singaporean cocktails, really good bartender and very cozy for dates! Should try all their cocktails. Build your own is amazing!

Google
The drinks were incredibly well crafted and both the bartender Simon and the server Brandon were awesome. We had wanted to try every single drink on the menu. The vibe is awesome, the music is chill and not too loud, and the prices were typical of the spot. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Google
Very trendy bar with interesting cocktails inspired by Singapore. My brother and I, who grew up in Singapore, loved our experience here. The staff is also very friendly. We ate everything available on the menu, and it was all delicious.

Google
Drinks didn’t stood out for me or may be my choice was bad! But the place had a cozy atmosphere, any cloudy or a rainy day if you’re in the greenwich area just run right into this place.

Google
Overall rating: 4.7 This is one of the places when you’re like wow, I am in NYC. What a unique, authentic, Asian spot. I had a weird experience with actually sitting at the time of the reservation, but I did visit when the restaurant just, just opened. So maybe it’s better now. Our “hostess” was also our waiter, and bartender. So definitely a tad understaffed. After we sat it was a better experience. Had to knock off a few points.. this is not a speakeasy 😅🙄 but nevertheless, really great experience and highly recommend. This was my first time trying Singaporean food and very cool. Echo some of the other reviews where the cocktails were soo cool. I had Majong tiles in mine! So cool. I did feel like the spot was a little tight and claustrophobic, but def worth going. I’ll probably go again if I had good company.

Yelp
4.5. A Singapore-inspired bar, hence the name. This bar is small but plays true to its roots and has a fun menu. Drinks were unique and well made - I got the chiobu (Singapore slang for a cute girl and that I am); granted the chiobu was slightly sweet for my taste but perhaps I'm just too spicy ;). Jokes aside, my favorite was this refreshing teacup drink (forgot the name) - it was fresh and slightly sour, served with a rice crispy. Their Kopitiam (version of espresso martini) is true to a Kopitiam coffee (sry, unhelpful if you've never had), which is a bit more creamy and sweet. Clearly I didn't do my research bc I now see that I did not order the most fun drinks (by presentation) - the Mai Lai (salted egg martini) and One Bam (this mahjong looking drink). Guess I might need to revisit. Vibes wise, this spot isn't super canoodling conducive. It's dim and appropriate for 1st dates, many dates in, friends etc but doesn't give romantic intimacy. It's quiet so a good place to talk. Given that you're looking at this review up to now, it's unlikely you'll be anywhere near Singapore. Come for good drinks with an Asian twist and you'll be in for a good time.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place! My friend and I came here to grab drinks and just chat and I love the ambiance inside! Super cozy and well decorated. It's a small space but there's an upstairs and it's just very intimate. Service was great, our waiter was very helpful. All of their drinks are Thai inspired/have Asian flavors mixed in which I love. Both of our drinks were delicious. We also ordered some of the food: Singlish fries and the fried wontons. Both were very delicious and were just enough to hit our snack cravings. Would definitely come back just for the vibes and drink combinations.

Yelp
I was very excited with the menu BUT, the Laksa cocktail was not very laksa, the Salted Egg Martini doesn't have salted egg taste but an eggshell on the top. I was very confused. I felt like they want to be unique and creative but not bold enough to really blend the flavors in? It has a lot of potential but just need to be bold and go with the concept. Food menu were much more reduced from what's shown online.

Yelp
This is a very cool space, but unfortunately I wasn't super impressed by the drinks. The "Die Die Must Have" was a bit too sweet, and the Kopi was made with Mr. Black, which is just lazy imo. Service was decent!

Yelp
We visited Singlish twice in two of the three evenings during our recent visit to NYC because we really liked its cocktails and mocktails. The server we had seemed very talented in recommending drinks based on customer descriptions of their taste preferences. The price is a bit higher than at a typical bar, but the experience is well worth it in our view. The staff does try to get customers to leave and make space for new customers if they have finished their drinks and food without intent to order more, which is understandable.
google avatar

Milo C.

Yelp
I loved the bartender! An intimate speakeasy environment with beautiful details on the inside. The bartender recommended a good couple of drinks. The way she sliced fruit for the drinks 10/10. Definitely add it to your drink spots downtown for a unique experience.

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place, was glad to finally check it out. Not everyday you come across a Singaporean fusion cocktail bar and I hope this place sticks around. The drinks are very interesting, and going to be unlike something you've tried before. Each one honors a ton of different ingredients - I got one that had turmeric and curry in it which was super interesting - i'd reserve this for an adventurer. The ambience is intimate, dimly lit, and nice. It wasn't super crowded at 7pm on a Sunday but people started trickling in and it got louder for sure. Def recommend reservation if you can do it in advance. There's an upstairs where they seem to try to seat people first with booths, high tops and bar seating. There's a downstairs as well, where the bathroom is but it never seemed to have people get seated there throughout my visit. Come here for unique drinks, and a taste of Singaporean culture in an intimate, nonfussy setting.

Yelp
Cool spot to grab drinks. A little pricey even for a mocktail. However, service was attentive and easy to walk in on off-peak hours. Ambiance is great too.

Yelp
Came here for drinks with friends and had a great experience. The place is quite small and I certainly recommend making reservations. The drinks and food are all Singaporean-inspired which was a nice switch up from your typical cocktail bar. Everything we drank and ate was incredible. The bartender was so friendly and was great chatting with. The place itself is really nice and super intimate. This is a great place for date night. Would certainly recommend and come back.

Yelp
Cute space at the top of the stairs. Very super unique cocktails with extra touches. Not a typical throw a drink together type place. They take their time and make it special.

Yelp
terrible service is what comes to mind from this establishment. i have been here twice, one with no reservation and no one acknowledged us even though we tried to get someone's attention. completely ignored. we didn't have a reservation so understandable we could not get a table. the second time we came, we had a reservation for 2 at a TABLE. they sat us at a bar and we had asked to move to a table b/c we specifically requested a table for our reservation. their response was "sorry theyre taking longer than expected at the tables". we were pretty upset that this place does not manage their reservations properly. there are many ways to fix the reservation system, such as not offering the option for table or bar or decreasing the amount. it's not the fact that we had to sit at the bar, but the principle that our reservation was not honored. additionally, we sat at the bar but was not acknowledged by bartender at all. they focused on the other customers that were there but never looked at us. the level of attention we received was close to nothing. cocktails were okay, pretty pricey. i wouldn't come back just purely on the service DIY singaporean sling was unique though, def enjoyed making my own cocktail

Yelp
As a cocktail lover.. this place is OK. It's expensive. $20+ price point gives the drinker the expectation that the drinks will blow you away; the drinks were good but nothing.. that tugs me to want to go back? Nothing mind-blowing or something id mark as a unique signature drink despite the really cool menu. It'd easily be 4 stars if the prices dropped to around 18-20 vs 20+. With friends, I got to taste 6 drinks. Most have a very crisp, clear taste. The drink with thai tea and the sesame probably would be crowd favorites. I tried the laksa -- i wish the flavor was a bolder. i felt like i was just drinking a spicy marg. The martini - i didnt find it briney per the menu and didn't really taste salted egg too much vs the chili oil drops(?). I hear that their menu will be updated.

Yelp
Writing a review because it was by far the worst bar experience. Watch out for OVERCHARGED TIPS! Bad things: 1. Terrible service. We were sat down to the first floor, which is much worse than the second floor of speakeasy bar vibe. I could hear kitchen better than the person next to me. This was OK since I didn't make reservation that night. However, they let another walk-in couple to the second floor because they said they will leave within 2 hours. We said that too and were seated in the first floor?? 2. Terrible service #2. They told another walk-in customers that we will be leaving soon before we could even order the second drinks. They just handed us the receipts and were implied to leave. Leaving bar before 9 PM was an experience. 3. **MOST IMPORTANT**: This was by far the worst experience, so we tipped them only a little. However, THEY CHANGED THE TIP AMOUNT AND OVERCHARGED! They tipped extra 10% and I only realized 3 days later on my credit card transaction. I had to CALL MY BANK AND DISPUTE THE TRANSACTION. Foods + drinks: 1. Shiok: rice drink. Not bad but not good. 2. Die Die Must Have: drink with a very strong ginger flavor. It was too spicy for me (I eat ginger dish regularly, at least once a week). 3. Singlish Fries: Probably the best thing considering its price. Summary: Terrible service + crime with overcharging tips. Foods and drinks themselves are ok but not special (aka mid).

Yelp
This bar is nicely tucked away on the second floor of the building it's in. I really enjoyed the cozy interior and lighting. I must say, these were some of most unique cocktails I've had in a while. What was really cool was my friend's deconstructed cocktail -- loved the presentation.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night with res. Super intimate, cute little bar which is vibey and a nice date ambiance. Music selection was a bit off (they were playing pretty basic edm trash) but I've heard on other nights it's really good. Our specific waiter was attentive but we felt like the other waiter working was being weird and unhelpful - acted like they were off duty although they were there. Cocktails are quite pricy and I didn't really like the drinks but the bar food was good (we ordered the whole menu, which is compact). Fried chicken sliders are a must get and they have a good spicy kick that sneaks up on you. The fries also have a delicious seasoning on them! I felt kind of greased out after a while but it was still delicious.

Yelp
Cozy small place. You definitely can only fit up to four max per table. They can bring a barstool for a fifth, but I would not come here with a large group. This is a date setting speakeasy. They don't play music too loud so you're able to talk to your friends. The drinks are all cute, but probably the most expensive drinks that I have seen at a speakeasy they range from 25 to 40. The drinks were good, but I would not say they were worth the price point.

Yelp
One of my favorite drinks. The chope, aka tastes like a Thai tea, looks like an old fashioned. We were all blown away at the magic of this drink and it was way too easy to drink. The floral old fashioned was also good and my friend's favorite drink of the night. Didn't realize that this was the upstairs bar but the view was really cool and vibes felt like a speakeasy. Curious what the downstairs bar jelas was like but will have to try next time.

Yelp
Fun cocktails and small bites! The drinks are named after Singlish terms and the menu aptly describes how to pronounce them and a short description of what they mean. This bar is located on the second floor of the listed address and is intimately decorated, making one feel like you've snuck away for a private affair. I understand that duck tongue isn't for everybody, but if you're feeling adventurous, I invite you to try their Forty Licks - seasoned (spicy) and served with some dipping sauce. It's a textural experience to snack on while sipping on your beverage. I'd recommend this place to get drinks with a date or catch up with a small group of friends. It's a little more unique due to it's Singaporean influences, and I look forward to more places that blend cultures to create something new.

Yelp
I was excited to check this place out after watching all the tik tok videos about this place. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype for me. First, it's a bit hard to find the place, especially in the evening as there is no clear sign. Just the number 17. It's also located on the second floor of a building. The place itself is really tiny and dimly lit. Its definitely a cute spot for a a first date. The seating is limited and all the tables are for two people and no more. So it's not great for big groups. Also, highly recommend making reservations if you decide to come here. The drink menu looked interesting. Lots of interesting twists on drinks with Asian flavors. I got the die die hard cocktail which was a lychee and ginger cocktail. It was decent but nothing amazing. My friend got the wasted scotch which she didn't really enjoy because it was a bit too strong for her taste. We were also really hungry but had dinner reservations so we ordered the money bag. It was two tiny pieces and wasn't anything great.

Yelp
This place is perfect for a night out with friends! The menu is extensive and really has something for everyone. I would recommend the Thai Tea inspired drink, the Die Die Must Have, and the Notya Laksa. Staff is very attentive and the atmosphere inside is really gorgeous.

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This has quickly become my fave bar in nyc and that's saying a lot since I consider myself a cocktail connoisseur and pretty picky with my cocktails. Here are the reasons why: 1. If you love spirit forward drinks like I do, then this shall be your heaven. I would strongly recommend the one bam. This is probably the strongest drink on the menu- 3oz of alcohol, and you will definitely feel the effects of alcohol, however it tastes so yummy and you can't taste the alc at all this is when I know a cocktail is extremely well made. Also one drink in that flask is actually equivalent of 3 small shots, so you are definitely getting your money's worth 2. Pretty presentation / intimate ambiance : space is limited and small, thus why it's such a great date spot. 3. Intricate taste profiles- each cocktail is so well made; and there are so many ingredients that go into crafting the cocktail. THIS IS LITERALLY ART. I don't just feel like I'm drinking a cocktail, it feels like I'm appreciating state of the art 4. Service is immaculate. I LOVED our bartender, she was super knowledgeable of the ingredients and the recipes and was just a super down to earth and cool person. She even comp'd our last drink ( so nice of her ) I would definitely go back and try everything else on the menu!!
google avatar

Sophia S.

Yelp
This place is a such a cute, intimate Singaporean bar by union square. We were able to get 8pm reservation and we got a seating upstairs. Their menu was very cute and stylish and the bar felt so luxurious and the dark lighting made it feel intimate. I love trying out different cocktails so I was very excited to try this place out. Their cocktail have different ingredients and some of them you question whether it'll go with it or not but surprisingly it tasted so great together! I asked for sweeter option but most of the cocktails were on a stronger side so if you dont like strong taste of alcohol, i dont recommend it however it is a great place to come to try out different style of cocktails!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cozy speakeasy with unique cocktails. Located on the second floor of a small unsuspecting building, Singlish offers Singaporean inspired cocktails with a good mix of umami, floral, and Asian inspired flavors. It's a super small but is well decorated and the perfect ambiance for a romantic and intimate drink date. Every cocktail is over $20 but you're paying for a unique presentation and a new type of flavor. There's many options but I would recommend the Thai tea cocktail as it tastes just like a non alcoholic one. Overall this place has relatively good service and I would recommend coming on less busy weekday nights to avoid have to wait.

Yelp
My friends and I were so lost trying to find Singlish. LOL. Tucked away upstairs, you enter a dimly light, gorgeous space. You feel very royal. The service was good, and attentive. I really enjoyed the unique cocktails. I personally had the 'One Bam' and I added rum to the durian mocktail. One Bam was strong, but the flavors were too subtle for me. The durian mocktail was flavorful and I was happy with how much it actually tasted like durian. I tried my friends' cocktails as well and my favorite was the Thai Iced Tea one. It was smooth and very well put together. Best and only(?) thai iced tea cocktail ive had. I am docking a star because while Singlish had great cocktails, many were just not worth the price. I would come here for a special occasion and not quite often.

Yelp
Fun drinks and fun atmosphere!! Came with 2 friends because I had been curious about this place for a while. Not sure if i'd call this place a speakeasy, but it definitely had speakeasy vibes. Beautifully decorated with great drinks, Singlish is a great spot to catch up with friends or go on a first date. When i looked online, all the reservations had been booked. However, we called at 5.30 (when they opened) and secured a spot. I will say that the space is small and it was quite crowded by the time we left. For food we ordered the duck tongue and fries. Both were delicious! We ordered a plethora of drinks (cannot recall which ones specifically) recommended to us by our waiter. All the drinks were unique and delicious. Specifically, my friend ordered a curry- like drink which was different but really tasty! I highly recommend making a visit here!! Also their bathrooms are pretty clean which i appreciate.

Yelp
WOW!!! This Singapore style cocktail lounge is an absolute, hidden gem. The cocktails and mocktails are on a level of their own. The finely tuned selection of ingredients and creative flavor profiles make this cute place a contender for best bar in NYC. The crisp chicken sandwich is a knockout.

Yelp
5/5 Now my favorite bar. I got the Thai tea cocktail and felt that it was one of the best-blended drinks I've had thus far in Manhattan. I'm excited to return and enjoy the good vibes and well-executed drinks here!
google avatar

Yelp
Only place to get good baijiu in this town and I promise you I have looked. Service mid, bottle necked at an extremely experienced, thoughtful barkeep handcrafting each drink to perfection. You will watch him construct painstaking art and feel the thirst in your throat. Vibe is decidedly bourgeois, a Shen Yun/ hipster tea house departure that feels Chinese but saying anti-communist out loud. And I say this knowing it's Singaporean. It's like an elephant in the room. Anyway, had a great time, would/will return when able.

Yelp
As someone born and raised in Singapore, had to check out the cute new spot by the owners of Laut. Enter Chard and head through the door to the left to get to the bar. It's very very small so would definitely recommend either coming early or making a reservation. The food at Chard looks goooood and I'll definitely have to try it. Sugarcane juice was out of season though (and they didn't know when it'd be back) which was a shame. Onto Singlish though! We got the One Bam and Die Die Must Try firstly because of the amazing names and secondly because we were told they're sweet and popular. One Bam is named after the one bamboo tile in Mahjong and comes in a lamp shaped vessel with small MJ tiles (so so cute!). Tactically though, this was pretty difficult to drink from. Die Die Must Try was much more typical, with a few cute flowers adorning the top. Both drinks were quite strong (at least taste-wise) and reminded me of Hong Kong LKF cocktails. Great for if you're wanting to go out that night, but IMO not necessarily so tasty it's dangerous. Solid drinks and such a cute concept!

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends bc i saw this trending on tiktok and i wasn't impressed. The space is small but being summer it still wasn't cool enough indoors. We were a group of 9 and took up about a third (or half) of the space there. The drinks were extremely sweet but strong. At $22 i thought it was not worth it as I've had better. My friend opted for a durian non alcoholic drink and you can't smell or really taste the durian. It was more like a durian flavored calpico drink. The snacks we ordered to try were quite overpriced for what it was. We ordered: jelly fish, money bag, chicken sliders and the singlish platter. The jelly fish was ok, money bag was so small, basically fried wonton with a tiny ball of minced chicken. The chicken sliders were pretty good, not the singlish platter was $32 for grapes, pineapples, a couple of crackers and slices of pork/beef jelly and cheese with a Thai tea sauce. Def a rip off and their online imagery had dragon fruit.

Yelp
I heard about this place on instagram and knew I had to come try! Actually came for a friend's birthday.. we all arrived within 5 min of our reservation and was seated immediately. The spot is upstairs and very easy to miss if you didn't have the address. Once we sat down, we were served the menu and we ordered our first drinks. They're very aesthetically creative but as far as taste goes, only one or two of them really stood out. Chope was very smooth and great for people who hate the taste of alcohol. One of the drinks came in a cup where you had to drink out of a small little opening.. easy to spill but definitely looks good for the gram. Salted egg martini and Notya laska sounds gross but they were actually really good - i would recommend this. We also ordered a money bag and for $14, we didn't realize it was literally 2 deep fried wontons. Lol. Definitely expensive for wontons. Hawker Fries were better but it's mostly in the sauce. The fries were definitely crispy but then again.. they're fries. For all that we got, we spent $270ish + tax so it's not terrible when it's split and ya know, it's NYC so the pricing is average.

Yelp
Singlish does take reservations and ideally you should come with one as the bar upstairs is very intimate with speakeasy vibes. Their main ground level bar operates on a first come first serve with limited seating. Drinks are unique and come out in glasses or tea cups. They have a food menu but I didn't try any last I went. I've been told the upstairs bar vibe is similar to Soho House. This place is good for a date or for small groups

Yelp
Exceptional drinks and friendly staff. Really cool vibe overall. We ended up staying way longer than we expected it was so much fun.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Singlish, a cocktail bar that has very creative drinks that are inspired by Singaporean dishes and life. The menu was amazing to look at because of the culture and interesting ingredients. The salted egg fries were delicious and super yummy! I got the seasonal sour, which was decent but not my favorite. The description sounded better than the cocktail tasted. My friend enjoyed her cocktail but it didn't blow her mind. This spot is a bit pricier and the space is quite small. Definitely come before the rush of people or make a reservation!

Yelp
Went to Singlish on a Friday evening, and it did not disappoint! The creativity and craftsmanship of each cocktail was on full display. My date and I ordered the Oh Bam, Build To Order, Relak lah (not pictured), and a mock tail version of the Singapore Sling that we were able to add alcohol to. On top of the great cocktails, the ambiance and excellent service by the staff made our experience even 10 times better. I will definitely be making my way back!

Yelp
One, done, and disappointed. Had to wait 30min for our drinks and our table despite having a reservation. I like cocktails and some creativity, but this menu lost me in two ways. First, the house cocktails are just far too strained in their desperation to force Singaporean and Malaysian food flavors into drinks. Full disclosure, I lived in Singapore for over 20 years, cook the full range of Singaporean cuisine, and speak a bit of Singlish. My parter has ten years of Singapore under her belt. We both struggled to order and struggled even more with the results. Second, the length of the drinks menu and the feel of the place makes you feel awkward rejecting their crazy fusion concoctions and instead just requesting your favorite drink. This is particularly true in the holding cell that is downstairs while you are waiting for the table you dutifully reserved. So yeah, groovy, cozy chandelier filled space, but nah, pass.

Yelp
This is a speakeasy-style bar on the second floor with no signage. It's gorgeously decorated but small, so not good for groups larger than 4. Overall, I really love the ambiance and service. It's a cozy place to catch up with a friend or try unique cocktails. There are no TVs playing nor loud, aggressive music. Even when the bar is full, it tends not to be too loud or raucous; the interior design just doesn't invite that sort of vibe. They're quite passionate about being Singaporean, and their drink and food menus show that. The food is mainly small bites; I wouldn't recommend trying to have a meal here; they are delicious and interesting, though. I feel like they could play more Taylor Swift here; some of her more contemplative albums perhaps. Bathrooms: Just one single-occupancy downstairs; clean and functional.

Yelp
Five stars for the cocktails only. The mahjong martini called the One Bam was incredible. It was boozy but delightfully floral and refreshing. A beautiful blend of vodka and gin with a fun presentation. I will drink any variation of an old fashioned, and was delighted by the nutty/toasted flavor of their sesame old fashioned. My final drink was a scotch based Thai iced tea clarified cocktail served on the rocks called Chope. It's on the sweeter side, but not cloyingly so like most dessert drinks. My boyfriend had the Die Die Must Have, which is shochu, champagne, lychee & ginger flavored. It came in a coupe glass with gold flakes. Refreshing and citrusy with a little bit of spice. He also tried a negroni variation which I also enjoyed. The food can be skipped. The most offending dish was the duck tongue, which feel like eating wood chips soaked in lard. We ate one wood chip each and sent it back. I was afraid I'd break a tooth in the process. The money bags and wontons are overpriced bar snacks. They were fine, but nothing to write home about, and unfortunately knock this place down one star. The prices also warrant a one star knock off. The menu prices are only for those who are paying in cash. If you pay with a card, there will be a 3.62% charge for credit card fees. They market this deception as a "cash discount" when it should really be "credit card mark up." This is only advertised on a sign at the bar seats. It's sneaky and disingenuous. Service was slow but polite. This place is very small, so come here alone or with one person. Two is pushing it. Three is a fire hazard.

Yelp
On my recent visit, I had the opportunity to indulge in their Clase Azul Teapot Drink and I must say, it was quite an experience. There wasn't a lot of fuss, just simplicity and quality ingredients shining through. The presentation was a sight to behold. The dry ice effect in the teapot added a unique touch of drama and elegance to the drink. It's the kind of detail that elevates a simple beverage into a memorable experience. As for the drink itself, it was as smooth as Clase Azul tequila is known to be, which made for an easy, enjoyable sipping experience. What truly set it apart though, was the tea - it provided a delightfully pleasant aftertaste that left me reaching for more. Adding to the overall experience was our waiter who was incredibly kind and attentive. The excellent service complemented the high-quality drink perfectly, rounding off an evening to remember.

Yelp
One of the best bars around right now, it's super tiny, so it is very quaint and great for a date or just a small group of friends. I got their fruity Mocktail which was delicious. I also got their fries, sliders and wontons all of which were very delicious, if you split that with one other person, you're definitely pretty full. the sliders had a bit of spice to them. The fries were seasoned so well and the aïoli was delicious and the wontons were really good too. everyone loved their cocktails and I tried a bite of the papaya salad and it was also really good, had a bit of a kick to it as well, the service was pretty good usually got my water refilled and my plates cleared promptly.

Yelp
Came here with my Singaporean gf and her family to try and see what kinds of interesting drinks this place offered. Right off the bat, her folks were really impressed by the menu itself, and how it contained lots of references and explanations to Singaporean phrases. However they did actually point out that some of the translations and pronunciations were not actually quite right. For example, "chope" is one syllable, and not pronounced "Cho-peh" as the menu claims. Not that it's a huge deal, but it does seem relevant to my next criticism. That is that the drinks seem to be more style than substance, and seem to lack some attention to detail and balance. I think having a laksa cocktail is cool, as is using baijiu for the Negroni or having a "mahjong" lychee martini. But for the most part I think the drinks are just so-so. The themes are fantastic but almost every single drink except the lychee one needs some kind of tweaking to balance the flavors out. The Thai tea drink was not strong enough and mostly just tasted milky. The Negroni is very sour/tart without much of the promised sweet aftertaste. In general I liked the idea of each drink but did not outright love any of them. Still giving 4 stars as I think the concept is great and can be truly amazing if they only make some tweaks. I think y'all should take some time to really taste and perfect each cocktail and get the details and balance just right. Once this happens it'll be an easy 5 stars for me as everything else was great. Service was fantastic and I thought the seating was cozy and dim lit vibes inside were great, so overall still had a very nice experience here.

Yelp
Cute, tiny speakeasy kinda bar. A door inside a ice cream shop. More like an attic turned into a bar. Good service, small seating, cute bar! They have an unique cocktail menu, I wish they had an easy way to interpret what's really coming in the drink! We ordered a bunch of cocktails, one of our favorites was the one with whiskey and condensed milk. The one bam cocktail was super strong, they served it ina glass flask and a tiny glass. The mezcal drink with pandan was so-so. Not something we would drink again. We ordered French fries to munch on and it was a solid disappointment. Max Donald's has better fries.

Yelp
Singlish is a Singaporean-inspired speakeasy near Union Square. I thought Singlish was just okay. The drinks were pretty pricey even for NYC. Cocktails ranged from $22 - $40ish dollars. I ordered the lychee ginger drink and it did taste good but felt very overpriced for what it was (champagne and ginger syrup, essentially). One friend ordered the salted egg martini (with the egg shell filled with olives), which felt a little gimmicky but made for a good picture. Another friend ordered the DIY Singapore Slinger which felt particularly not worth since you essentially just pour together 6 little carafes of ingredients into a ice-filled glass. That was $40. The food at Singlish was pretty good though. I'd recommend getting the fries if you go. Even though we had a reservation for 10:45pm, we still had to wait 20ish minutes for the previous party to wrap up. Also, they closed at midnight on a Friday night which felt pretty abrupt and early. The other annoying quirk of Singlish is that if you have a group of 5 or more there's a $50 minimum spend per person. Singlish is super small so make sure you make a reservation (on Resy) beforehand. Overall, could be a good experience if you are going for food or if you are looking to ball out, but I'll probably be checking out some other speakeasies and bars in the future.

Yelp
Hidden gem literally.. blink and miss entrance. Dim lit, mysterious indoors perfect for a date nite or pregame. Drinks are phenomenal , food choices are limited but good for a quick bite.. loved the wontons.

Yelp
Came for a friend's birthday since the drinks seemed fun and exotic. The drinks weren't bad, but also did not impress me considering it was $22 each. They were creative looking, however the flavor wasn't quite there. My favorite drink was cho bei, which had a hint of Thai iced tea (smooth and easy to drink). The space was very small and considering it was 89F out, there were minimal AC. Thought I just needed to cool down, but 40min in, we were all still sweating. The menu selection wasn't extensive and they didn't have couple of the items so it was a bummer. The portions were on the smaller side ($15-18/dish), not enough to share among a group of 5. The small space may be nice for a couple of friends to catch up, but not great for a group.

Yelp
Had a great time at Singlish this weekend! Cocktails were delicious (albeit Manhattan priceyness) and Colin the bartender did not steer us wrong! He was friendly, informative, and created spectacular cocktails. Really interesting cocktail menu!

Yelp
Simon the bartender rocks! He made us some custom cocktails off the menu that blew our minds. The bar snacks were delicious too
