We heard they do weekend brunch, buffet style with 2 seatings (2pm and 4pm). Reservations are required...just call ahead. It runs about $40/person. There's an appetizer period before the meal starts. The start is super nice and kind. The food is fantastic and truly delicious. There's so much and it's so good. If you're not walking away stuffed...there's something wrong.

This place is pure bliss. I arrived knowing no one and left knowing everyone. It felt like a gathering with our close soul loved ones. Everyone and Everything was in perfect harmony. The Queen Chef was very instrumental and very much in her Empress and Queen of Wand Energy. She is passionate. We arrived in a cozy space with appetizers, hibiscus punch, citrus water, and you can byob with no cork fees. Tips are also already included in the price you see online. Dinner was delicious and they surprised me with a cake and beautiful birthday song as I came to celebrate my day, which is everyday. A total immersion into Brazilian culture. From the greeting, sitting, music, decor, and total ambiance, all beautifully done. You can eat just the side dishes and be happy. We had the fish (cod), chicken, steak, and ox tail with polenta. All beautiful done and seasoned. The passion fruit mousse and flan cake were also delicious. Service was super attentive, and they treated you like family but with a bit more professionalism. Even the beautiful and amazing owner, Jorgina, who was making the rounds and moving amazingly from table to table with an amazing smile. I cannot wait to go back for a Sunday brunch.

The absolute best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. We came here to celebrate my dads birthday and our waiter (whom I wish we asked his name) was super friendly, they even gave us complimentary dessert! Everything was beyond delicious, couldn’t recommend this place more. Please, please, please do yourself a huge favor and come here for one of the best dining experiences you’ll ever have!!

Overall Thoughts: Sinha is one of the most unique and intimate dining experiences I’ve ever had. I went for the Sunday 2-hour, all-you-can-eat buffet at 4pm, which I called 2 weeks in advance to reserve. Everything takes place in Chef Jorgina’s home, beginning with communal appetizers on the ground floor. Later, everyone is seated downstairs around tables arranged according to party size, where the buffet and desserts are served. The service is so warm and absolutely top-notch. Chef Jorgina prepares a full, impressive feast every time. The food was overall delicious with many hits (all the yuca, veggie, plantain, bean dishes) and some misses (some of the more meaty dishes). For $49 total including tip/tax, it was worth it considering the sheer quantity and quality of food and the level of care, detail, and warmth that goes into the service and preparation. Nice traditional place for Brazilian food. You enter from the basement and atmosphere is like someone invited you to have homecooked dinner at their home. The place is small and cozy with an open kitchen where your mom is cooking. It is sort of a set menu. The unlimited side are buffet style and you order your main course off menu. Our server Leo was very friendly and hospitable. He brought appetizer to your table and tells you to start with the buffet sides which consist of Black beans, Rice, Pasta, and variety of salad and coleslaw vegetables. We ordered the Picanha (Brazilian sirloin) and Ox tail which was not on the menu. The Picanha was ok but the flavor and taste of the Oxtail was amazing. The place is a little pricy for a quick lunch but great for dinner. When it gets warmer, I will surely be back with friends to dine in their outdoor patio.

Best Brazilian food ever! Really hoping chef Jorgina finally agrees to adopt me haha! Food is very homemade and traditional.. absolutely hit home for me. The passion fruit mousse was top tier, must try the Doce de Abobora! We did girls brunch on a sunday, the vibes are very communal, welcoming, very “among family”. Aesthetics are immaculate. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. It is buffet style w lots of variety of traditional foods and lots of vegetarian options. Price was super cheap. Easily accessible via the L.

Hey Everyone! Happy Spring! It has been a while since I posted a review. (Life has been Lifing.) But I AM BACK, and am very excited to write this review! Sinha, Oh What An Experience! A hidden gem on the Westside of Chicago, well, it may not be so hidden now. This past Memorial Day weekend, it was Sunday in the late afternoon. A group of old college friends and I decided to have dinner at this unique Brazilian style restaurant that we have never been to before. From the Instagram posts, it mimicked a bed and breakfast set-up. We thought this was interesting and ventured to see what the buzz was all about. The moment we got there, guests of the restaurant emerged seemingly happy, satisfied, and needing a nap! "Ok, it's starting to look promising!" Once we entered the residence, we were met by a family style living room and dining area with Brazilian charcuterie boards and hibiscus drinks to pass the time and servers passing around hor dourves/appetizers. We were able to connect with other guests and enjoy each other's company. Everyone was friendly, and when it was time for the main course, we entered into another dining area that made you feel like you were at one of your relative's houses with elegant dinnerware. Oh, this place is Fancy! Before we ate the owner, Ms. Jorgina Pereira, took special time and care to explain the dishes she prepared and what was on the menu. It was buffet style and was DELICIOUS! They had options for everyone, including those who are Vegan. However, I am not. So, I stuck with what I knew.........Meat and everything in between! Everything was all you can eat. Therefore, it was worth the dollars that you spent. But the food wasn't the only items that were worth the money. I give this restaurant 5 Stars because of the entire atmosphere and the way that it made me feel. The owner interacted with all the guests. We played a game together. We cracked jokes. We took pictures. We had fun. We felt welcomed. We felt like we were with family. We felt at home! And you know the saying, "There's No Place Like Home." I LOVED every minute of it! So, I encourage ALL of you to go and experience Sinha'. You will not be disappointed. You will fall in love with the love that is within this place!

Great foodie experience! The welcome greeting at the door , the appetizers, the professional and kind staff, delicious food & drinks, beautiful ambience, and great company made for an amazing day! The food is absolutely delicious. So much food that I can't even mention them all, some of our favorites were the lamb the fish, the ribs, steak, plantain, the greens, rice, and beans and the empanadas were delicious.

This is a really nice place. It's actually in a typical two flat city apartment converted into a restaurant. It's very inviting and decorative. There is outside seating and in the basement there is seating as well. The main floor appears to be a waiting area. There you can help yourself to water, hibiscus tea (cold) and chips with homemade salsa. There is also bread and cheese. I went for a birthday brunch, there was about 20 of us. We were all seated in the basement. It was nice in the basement, nicely decorated as well. The brunch was Buffett style. Lots and lots of food. We had rice, beans, collard greens, shrimp, beef, lamb, ribs, quail eggs, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and so much more! I had a sample plate basically where I tried all the types of meat, and shrimp, and several sides. Everything was full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The owner was so nice she even joined in singing Happy Birthday with us and than she and her staff sang it in Portugués the language spoken in her home country of Brazil. It was great time. If you want to try some Brazilian food this is a great place to try. It's also a BYOB. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant and street parking as well.

I almost don't want to write a review b/c I don't want to spoil the surprise of it all! You are in for a treat when you come to Sinha. Ill just say- great experience, great staff, delicious amazing food, ambience is incredible and it's BYOB! enjoy :)

We were at Georgina's house for an evening event and I HIGHLY recommend this business. All the staff and Georgina were so welcoming. The food was abundant and very very delicious. The space was beautifully decorated and it felt so warm and welcoming, as if you are dining at grandparents house. At the end of the day, Georgina waited for my ride to come and his staff ensured I got to my ride safely. While waiting, we talked about music and I was offered event more yummy pastry. Georgina is a national treasure and her restaurant is a hidden gem in Chicago!

The experience at the actual restaurant was amazing! The experience of making a reservation was very poor. The interior was beautiful- we drank hibiscus juice and had appetizers in the living room space before eating outside on the patio. The food was amazing too- the ribs were my favorite, and it was BYOB which was nice. As for my experience making a reservation... I made our reservation ~2 weeks in advance. The day before the reservation, I received a text from them at 11:16am to confirm or cancel. At 12:33pm, they texted again and said " We need to cancel. Try next brunch. Sorry." They didn't offer to rebook for us. I asked why they cancelled us, and they never responded. That left a bad taste in my mouth. Luckily the food sweetened it a bit, but still, the booking customer service could use much improvement.

For years, several friends had recommended that I go to Sinha for some Brazilian food. Only recently during Chicago Restaurant Week did I finally get to go to the restaurant. This is not like going into a brick and mortar establishment. This is going into someone's home. That created an atmosphere of intimacy and familiarity that, of course, is not present when dining at a restaurant. We started out having fruit and hibiscus juice on the second floor. There was bit of mingling before dining, if that is your thing. For the main dining experience, we sat on the ground level where the tables were prepared. There was a mix of dishes prepared with inspiration from traditional Brazilian dishes. There was feijoada, which is a platter of rice, steamed collard greens, black beans, and farofa. For those who wanted meat, which is cooked with the beans, there was the accompanying meat on the side that could be added. There was cabbage that had a nice kick to it from peppers that had been added. Instead of bobó de camarão (shrimp in a coconut and yucca gravy), they served bobó de frango (chicken in a coconut and yucca gravy). I had shrimp with celery, pickled whole okra, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and plantains. As to dessert, there was a slice of red velvet cake that had something of a flan baked atop it with a small cup of passion fruit custard. My pre-pescatarian self probably would have indulged the meat dishes more, but I omitted the beef and pork that would have gone into the feijoada, the chicken in the coconut and yucca dish, and the steak. For anyone who is thinking churrascaria, this is not of the lazy buffet variety that you get at Fogo de Chão, Sal & Carvão, and Texas de Brazil. It's traditional Brazilian food that is very prevalent in Bahia. Having spent time in Brazil and also having gone to several small Brazilian restaurants dotted throughout Chicago, I did find the food preparation to differ only slightly from Brazilian dishes I have eaten in the past. That was not problematic because some of the small adjustments in recipes allowed for sampling certain menu items with a twist. What made it enjoyable is that since not everyone cooks exactly the same, I got to experience Brazilian dishes the way the chef cooks at home for herself.

By far the best and most authentic Brazilian restaurant in Chicago! The owner is quite literally inviting you in to her home, and, in the summer, her pretty and eclectic backyard garden. From the hibiscus tea to the plantains, everything is delicious! I planned with the owner, and had my whole Zumba class come after a workout and everyone enjoyed!

Fabulous place to dine. All of the boxes are checked- good service, good food, good convo,attractive decor, and how often do you get to meet the owner (that's a plus). Walked in and was greeted promptly by Leo. He told us to take a seat anywhere we liked. Since we were the only vehicle in the nice sized parking lot at the time (came day one of restaurant week) my husband said we're going to get personalized service, and that we did. The complimentary buffet is a huge plus and a great intro to the brazilian food. Then comes the complimentary chicken croquets and famous cheese bread. That's 3x the free, sold. Our entrees were the horseback riding steak (tender) and the oxtails (yum) and each came with a slightly less than ripe mango (who knew) love it. Last but not least I LOVE that this place is BYOB and the passion fruit mousse was hitting (I had two and I normally don't like mousse). As if I was't shown enough hospitality, right before my departure Georgiana came out with carrot bread to go, what a charmer she is. Thanks and may you continue to succeed at what you do! I'll be back! Only con is sitting by the window was really cold, in the winter months a little extra warmth would be great.

We came here for the first time before spring break ended. The feijoada was buffet style, and then you order your main entrée. Prices starting at $25. Don't forget to make reservations. The eating area was filled, so be prepared to be patient with services. Very cozy set up in their basement, playing music in Portuguese in the background. A great experience I highly recommend it at least once.

I took my mom to Sinha for Mother's Day buffet. I chose this place due to the positive reviews. All of us left happily stuffed with an amazing meal prepared by Chef Jorgina Pereira and her amazing staff. Chef Jorgina is the proprietary owner and chef of Sinha Elegant. The overwhelmingly 20+ dish Brazilian buffet spread is lovingly prepared by the chef and trained staff. On the weekends there are two timeslots (2 and 4pm) for the buffet. We were running a few minutes late due to traffic but chef and the team were able to accommodate us despite the delay. As soon as we got street parking, we entered up the stairs to the elegant home of the chef's 1st floor salon for appetizers and boy were there plenty! Cecelia, a friend of the chef, did an amazing job as hostess for the afternoon being engaging and friendly. When it was time for our meal, Cecelia led us downstairs to the main dining area and introduced us to Chef Jorgina. Chef was soft spoken and humble. Prior to starting, chef explained the content and history of the many traditional Brazilian dishes on the menu and I'm glad she did because a good portion of the food tried were firsts for many of us. I've never had Feijoada, Farofa and Chicken Bobo before and I left loving it. The flavors and textures of Brazilian style food are new to my palette. Chef Jorgina's food is truly unique. Pairing her food with the opportunity to dine in the chef's home felt special and personal. Her food pretty much speaks for itself. My review doesn't do it justice. She recently won this year's Jean Banchet for Best Alternative dining in 2022 and is very much deserving of this award. During warmer months, seating is expanded to the outdoors. She also does catering if you're looking to host a special event. All in all, we left happy, and our experience exceeded expectations.

A Great place Old fashioned family run Brazilian authentic restaurant. Service Great , Food home made awesome, friends had Shrimp Dish & fresh Lamb I had Sirloin. We all enjoyed & met a great couple who are regulars & heard the couple's original Love story how they met in Brazil. What an enjoyable afternoon!! Good friends new friends & great food at affordable prices. The service we had to tip Good they are marvelous! Only afternoon hours during the week call first . Make a reservation. If you're looking for a unique dining experience this is a charming spot for exactly that! This is a functioning residence on par a fully functioning restaurant. Came here for my Birthday brunch to say I could cross off my bookmarks. Appetizers and drinks are served prior to seating in the first floor living room - Cheese, hummus, & croquettes. There are two - three seatings on the weekends so during this time staff is preparing the buffet and tables. We were the second seating and it took about 30min to transition downstairs to the buffet. Seemed like quite a while. The buffet is located in the basement. The spread is vast! Plenty of Brazilian options to choose from and some made for the likes of vegetarians. This was my first time trying Brazilian food. I supposed I wasn't completely blown away by the traditional entrees like feijoada or oxtail but I can see these dishes being nostalgic taste of home for others. However, I did enjoy the salad, meat, and fish options! Dessert was perfect. I've never had a red velvet flan cake! It was so delicious! Considering we were celebrating my Birthday there was no special attention paid to that. It was difficult in ordering drinks during the meal when all that was handed to us was a Brazilian can of soda. The basement was freezing cold during January. Equally, the food was room temp but that's to be expected with buffet food. Overall, each seating we witnessed was fully booked and there was a couple planing their wedding catering which were good signs. This is a place I would def love to try again but only during warm weather months to enjoy the outdoor seating in the garden. It's also an ideal spot Incase you would like to grab a bite before a show at the United Center. I found it intriguing that quite a few celebs have eaten here, one of which was Ice Cube! Lol Saw an autographed picture of him on the wall. In sum, a nice homemade hearty meal! As they say in Portuguese, "Obrigado!"

This is a must do experience in Chicago. Incredible all you can eat home cooked food on Sunday with multiple different options for vegetarians as well as carnivores. The owner and chef is one of a kind and she will make you fall in love with the place with her charm. You will not regret this I promise!

So fun! The outdoor space is gorgeous and we really enjoyed the food. The staff was super friendly and helpful and we had a great time. It's a difference experience than just a regular restaurant - highly recommend.

This place is real Brazilian food - beyond fogo de chão. My favourite dishes are the beet salad, ox tail, feijoada (with pork feet), pão de queijo, Bean sprout salad, and ribs and of course the dessert-red velvet flan. Wish there was moqueca too. Very friendly waiter. Wish the appetizers were individually packaged to cater to the covid situation too so guests don't need to share with other tables. Other than that, people were required to wear mask to get the buffet so we felt comfortable.

What a wonderful, different and home experience this was. We visited in May and were not really prepared for such a warm, welcoming and extraordinary meal and extravaganza. This is a single family residence where they serve appetizers and drinks on the first floor. Then we were escorted downstairs to the basement level where the buffet was served. We met an interesting group of people with whom we sat at the large table. The food was scrumptious. Service impeccable. Brazilian food at its best. I usually shy away from meats, but the oxtail was so delicious, with the meat falling off the bone - I was impressed. Quite an experience indeed.

Wow, I loved this place, the people and especially the food. Jorrgina is absolutely wonderful and welcomes you to her charming home, her kitchen and delights you with a delicious smorgasbord of lovingly and skillfully prepared Brazilian cuisine. From the moment you enter her home you are greeted as a guest of the family, ushered upstairs to the parlor floor for cocktails and hor deurves before being requested to descend to dinner in her elegant extended kitchen/dining area. We went for the Sunday buffet of which their are two seating, 2 pm and 4 pm. It's BYOB as well. I don't know where to begin describing the food. Large selection of vegetarian dishes, pulled pork that was marinated and slow cooked for a day or so, beef bacon, salmon, chicken, beef stroganoff, cheese bread, eggs, pasta, yucca, desserts aaaahhh! No blaring music to compete with either. Just friends, food, wine and good times. I'm guessing it seats around 26 people in various flexible configurations. There is a center table for 10 and window table for 8 that look like fun for a group dinner. Free private parking next door. In season Outdoor seating. I'm a big fan. Can't wait to return.

My first time dining here and I chaperoned a group of about 30 people. We had a lovely time and you could clearly tell that Jeorgina, chef & owner, has heart and passion for what she cooks up in the kitchen. Everyone in my group got plenty to eat. There was a buffet setup inside and a buffet setup outside on the patio. Food was good. The plantains had me going back for seconds. This restaurant is nowhere near where I live and I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here. I probably wouldn't return again. If you're in the area it's a very unique dining experience. You're essentially eating in someone's home. 4/5 because it was very, very cramped and uncomfortable for some of my guests. Not handicapped accessible at all if anyone was wheelchair or walker dependent. Only one restroom.

Delicious , and very tasty. Intimate setting and food was fresh. You gotta have the hibiscus tea! Had the Shrimp Bobo and I could eat it again and again.

Fun and quirky place. We had lunch on Tuesday and sat outside. The hibiscus tea was delicious as was the food. We ordered the sirloin and chicken and had the all you can eat rice, black beans, pasta and salad that came with it. The seasonings they use complimented the food well and not what I'd normally use at home with regularity so it was fun to try to figure out what each portion was seasoned with. The biscuits were amazing - I think they were yuca biscuits filled with cheese. I could've eaten ten of those. Plantains were also noteworthy, and I'm not a huge fan of plantains. We want to take our friends there sometime and take advantage of the BYOB policy. We'll be back.

Loved dining here! It was really like eating in your friend's mom's house! At $16 for lunch, you could choose an entree and help yourself to the carboload that is the buffet for sides (rice, beans, pasta salad, etc). My shrimp entree was extremely well cooked, juicy and plentiful! It was like jumbo shrimp and there were easily at least 6 pieces worth of yum! My colleagues all enjoyed their dishes as well. The hibiscus tea was sweet but really good and it was an easy fix to just add a little water to it. After the 25% cashback on Groupon, tax and tip was about $15/per person. Super good deal (and you know I'm all about them deals) for the overall dining experience. They have a large parking lot that was super convenient. The owner also offered us to go upstairs to see the elegant dining room and also took us to the back where outdoor seating happens with her grapes also growing! It was such a nice gesture to allow us to explore.

Finally a restaurant experience that compels me to hit them with a 5 star! I won't bore you with the simplicity of mundane technicalities, so lets begin... My partner and I were so exited upon entering this place, but first rewind.... I got buzzed in the front door but quickly noticed that we walked into the garden apartment (this is where you actually dine), oh the looks everyone gave when we walked in since it was a different party. But that's okay, the usher took us up the stairs where we we smack dab in the middle of Georgina's (owner and cook) living room. With its fireplace and majestic yet simple look. This is actually her home as you have read from other reviews but Georgina is a beautiful hostess. We were given a few appetizers and while we waited for other guest on this 2 PM lunch crew to arrive, we munched and chit chatted. She (Georgina) came up and just was as pleasant as can be. She explained what our dining experience would be, and the various foods we were about to taste. Our lunch started a bit later but she came up to ask if everyone was okay with that. We were of course. So the Buffet portion of this was beyond expectations. The usher offered to mix up our BYOB of Champagne and Orange juice and we of course tipped him well because he didn't have to do that. Brazilian Top Sirloin (Pinanha) was amazing, as she came personally to the table and of course she explained all the local foods of her country and how some may contain peanuts just in case anyone is allergic, that only made me smile because of her caring. Then there was the Black beans cooked Brazilian style with shreds of pork. WOW! She also served up some plantains in a little butter. Yucca Croquettes (Blinho de aipim) some cassava cake for dessert and flan which of course was to die for! Oh did I mention that this is an all you can eat buffet? Yes, with salads of the Brazilian culture, some drinks, and you are off. Absolutely a must try, and at $30 per person on Sunday Brunch, you can't pass this one up! I couldn't possibly mention everything I ate, but wow, I am still thinking of it. Call for reservations since you only can get in this way.

Terrible owner Georgiana. So miserable. Food is good. Beans were average. Pão de queijo is good (3x). Buffet comes with entree $16. Waiter was nice. Anderson. Will go back to try acarajé. On Sunday. I had bobó de camarão. Shrimp pieces are huge. Sauce is good. Cove is good. Mango was ripe. Won't return for buffet. No Brazilians come here. Only Americans.

I spent two years in Brazil when i was 19/20. This place took me back the atmosphere and food. Made by a tru braziliera! I will return again.

Awesome, unique dining experience. We came for the Sunday brunch, which has two set times (2 pm and 4 pm). You are literally in the owners/chefs house, where you sit side-by-side with strangers at the same table. It's obviously not meant to be an intimate or couple-y meal, but it is a very unique way to meet some new people and enjoy some great food. The food is phenomenal! After spending some time in Brazil a few years ago, I've been searching for an authentic Brazilian dining experience and Sinha definitely delivers. From farofa, feijoada and pao de queijo, you are instantly transported to Brazil. There is more than enough food to completely fill yourself and the options feel endless. There are even multiple vegetarian options, which makes it a little less authentic, as you would be hard-pressed to find many vegetarian options in Brazil. I'm already planning another trip back

Delicious food for such a reasonable price. The yuca and shrimp as well as the chicken were perfectly cooked and reheat so well. Plantains were perfectly fried. Will definitely eat here again.

Experience, easy 5 star. Food, 4. Service. 5. Owner/operator, a lady who will completely blow away whatever preconceived notions of who she might be, why she created this improbable venture, and her ambitions going forward.....10. At this point of review, allow me to change my 4 star rating. Seriously. It can be nothing short of the elusive Best Of. This experience was the blueprint of a "reversal" in the Law of Diminishing Returns. It. Kept. On. Giving. And Better (not necessarily Faster, Stronger for the Daft Punkers...) Communal dining isn't really a draw for me but i do appreciate the fundamentals. And when it happens by chance, unplanned or unforeseen, well, it just works. You are seated where there is space. You're handed a menu. You're advised of protocol. You indulge. And if you're lucky enough, at the end of your meal, when everyone has left the "house" as it were, you get the chance to sit down and chat with one of the most genuine, charming and passionate people you'll ever meet. Everything in this place is wonderful, the buffet is delicious and as Brazilian I can certify that is authentic. The service is great. The ambience is very cozy and it feels your are welcomed to someone's house. As I just moved to Chicago and I am happy I've found my Brazilian place go to. Certainly I will come back several times. Sinha provides an unconventional dining experience. It feels like you are attending a dinner party in someone's home, and in many ways, it is exactly that. Reading reviews beforehand was very helpful. It was obvious some of the guests were confused as to how the meal is set up. It's supposed to be a leisurely meal so do not come here if you are pressed for time. The Sunday 2pm brunch starts with you entering into a home with comfortable sofas where the host offers you tea. You can snack on fruit, cheese and salsa/chutney with pita chips (all homemade). You may chat with others or simply admire the décor while waiting for all the guests to arrive. Once everyone arrives, you are invited to the dining area downstairs with communal tables. You may sit down wherever. We sat by the window. We waited for a bit longer for the host/chef/owner (aka "Lady of the house") to introduce the items at the buffet. The food was all very delicious!! It's all homemade with a dose of love. There was over 20 items which included rice, 2 versions of black beans, cod fish stew, tender pulled pork, farofa (grainy cassava meal), carving station with steak made to order and sausage, fresh cheesy bread, differently prepared salads (chicken, cabbage, kale), stuffed fritters, sautéed orka, green beans, peas, sweet plantains, cut up fruit, variety spicy garnishes. At the end, the host serves her fusion red velvet cake topped with flan with a side of ice cream. They also have a beautiful back patio where you can sit under the grapevines or walk around to look at what's growing. I can't even describe everything we experienced. Go see for yourself. It's a very welcoming home experience as well as professional service.

Visited for the first time and was so pleased! Wonderful food with amazing and friendly Service. Such a friendly environment with authentic Brazilian food. I had the vegetarian black beans and the portabello mushroom with the coconut sauce ... Absolutely amazing !! The only downside is that the place is small.. It's actually the first floor of a house so make a reservation or get there early... There is a parking lot that you can use when there isn't a bulls game ... Or street parking . A perfect little hidden gem!

A true hidden gem of a family house like vibe place. I don't know how not many more people talk about this place! Everyone should try them, not just for the food but for the experience, you will never feel that you're at a restaurant, instead, you'll get the feeling that you're visiting some friends and enjoying the company of everyone, their Sunday buffet is amazing and the dessert and tea or coffee at the end tops it all, loved it, definitely coming back A LOT!

A truly amazing meal you won't find anywhere else!! First, we were treated to cocktails and enjoyed our BYOB drinks upstairs as we waited. Then we were sat in a group dining area next to a wonderful Brazilian couple who told us all about the meal. There were plenty of vegetarian options for me and lots of meat for my husband. It could not have been better!! Please come and support this lovely local business. It's amazing.

I really enjoyed my experience at Sinha! It was very different from a normal restaurant experience because it's literally in someone's basement. The food was pretty spectacular. I can't really remember the names of the dishes but there was an endless array -- and if you buy a groupon for 2 for $34, it's DEFINITELY well worth it! As someone said before, come with someone you know well and who's adventurous. It's not a first date spot... Also, she made this flan custard cake that was AMAZING. Just prepare to walk it off. Because you'll eat a lot.

This is the restaurant where my husband and I were married 10 years ago and it is as charming and ever! Jorgina is a superb hostess, the garden out back is colossally beauty, well-tended and eclectic, and the food is delicious beyond measure! Her black beans over rice and yucca biscuits are a specialty, as is her red velvet cheesecake. And the mural of Brazilian effect I did for her under the stairs remains!

I've been here... 4 times now? And I don't eat out often at all, and rarely do I make a second trip when doing so. But the food is simply delicious and the price is always worth it. My personal favorite is the shrimp, and my significant other loves the steak. I've had the sunday special once and I would love love LOVE to go again if only my schedule simply allowed it.

I can honestly say that we had the best Brazilian meal here today. The buffet is tricky because you will be tempted to go back for seconds before your entrée come, we had been warned and took only a little. My Aunt selected the shrimp, which were in a light cream sauce, served with really tasty rice. My husband had the chicken, he truly enjoyed it. My mother order the special of the day, Brazilian Pock Chops which were spicy and extremely juicy. I had the steak, medium, which was so tender and perfect. The steak was served with delicious Yukon Potatoes. Each meal was $15, well priced and delish. After our meal we toured the location. There is an area for small parties upstairs and a beautiful patio with grapes growing. I highly recommend going to this restaurant.

As most people mentioned, this isn't your typical restaurant. This is literally someone's home and they're hosting you as a guest. Reason I'm deducting 1.5 stars is because owner booked us at the same time as a private party for a Sunday 4pm Brunch. We weren't told this until it was time to go downstairs, and we've already waited close to an hour in the living room. They managed to pull out a table right by the door, which was fine but the owner had to keep the door open for temp. control and the cold November breeze wasn't as pleasant when eating the food. I didn't think atmosphere would bother me, but it definitely had an impact on my experience on enjoying the food. The private birthday party was definitely joyous for the 25+ people who were there, but that also meant that my BF and I, being in close proximity, couldn't carry a conversation because of the guests excitement. Rant over - let's get to the food. There was plenty of food to go around. It is a buffet style brunch. There were definitely some dishes that stole the show - the etouffee, the chicken, non-veg. black beans, steak and the little cheese bread/balls were a highlight! Other dishes like the porkchop and the fish was a little too salty for my taste buds. The food definitely won over my bf more than me (but full disclosure - I was in the beginning of getting a viral cold that definitely messed w/ my taste buds). According to him, everything was delicious. I could again, pass on a few things and the food was just average for me. It lacked that kick I expected from brazillian food, but again, that could be my taste buds failing me. For the price alone (33$/pp), the food wasn't worth it to me. The groupon made it worth the money for me. Will I give this place another shot? Maybe . . . but not anytime soon, and definitely not when I'm sick/about to get sick :/

It is "underground dining" at its best ... open to the public *only* if reservations are made. The crowd: Mix of ages with an emphasis on Brazilians and Brazilophiles. Cost: $30 (all-you-can-eat buffet & dance lessons!) BYOB: Champagne for mimosas, cachaca for caipirinhas or vodka for caipiroskas. Your customized "punch" will be made for you. After so many years in IT, Brazil native, Jorgina Pereira, decided to be her own "CEO" and started doing Brazilian catering full time. She told me, "After a while, I was so homesick for my food and music and I thought if I can make a little part [of] Brazil in Chicago, the winters won't seem so bad." And, indeed, the Sunday brunches she has been hosting for a year in her elegant three-story Victorian near the United Center add a lot of warmth to our often chilly and very windy city. Periera welcomes guests at 2 p.m. into her antique-filled first floor salon with appetizers and drinks, inviting them to the lower-level dining room when the brunch is ready. There, they find colorful fabric-covered tables bearing rows of pretty chafing dishes and counters of colorful salads and meats. Brunchers can gather at one of the large or small tables in the dining room or in the sunny back yard, which is mostly protected from the sun by a big canopy. Some folks mingle at shared tables while others chat with friends -- a group of students learning Portuguese are regular patrons. And if you think you are "done" after eating ... not a chance... the best if yet to come. After brunch, diners can return to the upstairs parlor for a dance performance by a hot Brazilian couple---donning feathers and all, Carnival style---- who will teach you how to samba or salsa dance. ... or you can lounge around the house as the afternoon fades into early evening. Menu highlights: Feijoada (Brazilian national dish of rice, beans and smoked and dried meat), collard greens with orange salad and farofa (cassava flour) and fried bananas. Wide assortment of salads, roasted and stewed meats, and rich coconut desserts. Dress light ... Come for the wild feast. Stay for the hot and steamy dance. To say that you'll be glad you did this ... is ... well ... putting it mildly. You'll think as though you have to catch the next "flight" home as you'll feel you've been away on vacation after this experience.

What a great experience yesterday! This place is amazing, the service, food and entertainment truly amazing! I would recommend Sinha for any celebratory occasion Birthdays, Anniversaries, Work outing etc.,

FOOD: Sunday BYOB brunch buffet with reservations at 2 and 4pm, only $30. This was one of the most interesting and delicious brunch buffets I've ever experienced. Everything was wonderful. SERVICE: 5 stars - Service was top notch with personal touches everywhere. EXPERIENCE: 5 stars - A truly unique dining experience. I could elaborate but you should probably just experience it yourself.

This place is a hidden gem! Come hungry! This was my first time eating Brazilian food and it was delicious. Our hostess took the time to explain each dish. The food had a restaurant flavor but the taste seemed homemade. Hopefully that makes sense. It could have been psychological since the restaurant is at a house. We went for the afternoon brunch. I am really looking forward to the dinner one Sunday.

Hidden away in the shadow of the United Center, is one of the most unusual places I have ever had the pleasure to eat at. Sinha (means lady of the house) Elegant Cuisine is Brazilian cooking at it's finest. And the name is apt- as this is a single family home that has been rezoned to be a restaurant for private gatherings. Jorgina Pereira, the owner, started a small catering business about 12 years ago because her family and friends loved her cooking. Today- she opens her home to private parties where she and her amazing staff cook up specialties from Brazil. I was amazed as I drove down Adams Street that this place actually existed as there is no signage or anything to indicate a place of business. She sets up a small bar in the back (we had mojitos with sugar cane stirrers) and there are women dressed in the fanciful dresses and headpieces that make you feel that you are at a carnival! We had cocktails upstairs and then went downstairs for dinner. It's like sitting in someone's dining room as the food is set up buffet style along one wall and there are a variety of tables and chairs. The food was great! Not too spicy, but with the opportunity to have it be as spicy as you want. On the night I was there- there was salmon, Feijoada ( a Brazilian dish) many vegetable dishes, breads and cakes and some type of a pork dish. All were delicious! After dinner we went back up stairs for cocktails and dancing. There were Brazilian musicians and we kicked off our shoes and danced in front of the fireplace in the front room! All in all- I'd suggest this as a place to host your next party or business gathering. It is unexpected, fun and really like having dinner at a friend's house. I was also told that there is a Sunday brunch from 2-6 which is open to the public but that reservations are necessary. Check out the "lady of the house" and you'll wonder why someone didn't tell you about this place before now!

This is the most unique meal I have ever had. I had no idea what to expect upon entering this place. It's located in a neighborhood that used to be the heart of the ghetto, but has recently been on the upswing. The place is a three flat with no markings on the outside to let you know that you are outside of a restaurant (know the address). You have to ring the doorbell at the front gate in order to get in. Once you enter you'll think you've entered your grandmothers house with a Brazilian twang. The first floor is where you'll have your cocktails and appetizers. Jorgina, the owner, lives upstairs. After finishing the unique appetizers you will be asked to go downstairs to the dining room. The bottom floor consists of a dining room and a large kitchen. There is a spread of food in between the kitchen and the dining room. Jorgina will greet you and tell you about what she has prepared then you go to town. I had two plates and I had never felt so uncomfortably stuffed in my life. Everything was cooked to perfection. There was every kind of meat imaginable, but my favorite was the Brazilian rice and black beans. I'm going to need about six months to digest, but once I do I'll be back. This place is a MUST if you're looking for something delicious and unique.

As one of Chicago's best kept secrets, and apparently the city's only Brazilian restaurant, Sinha is absolutely worth the trip and delivers a really unique experience. My boyfriend and I took the CTA route 126 bus from downtown for the weekday lunch/brunch special, which is available weekdays from 11:30 AM to 2PM. Upon arriving to the house, we discovered that you have to ring the little buzzer on the outside gate to be let in. We were seated at one of the communal tables, where we proceeded to make friends with the people already sitting there. They showed us their plates and explained what all the dishes were, which definitely helped us decide what to order, although I'm sure that every single one of the lunch entrees is delicious! So, here is the deal with the weekday lunch/brunch: First, you give Jorgina your order for which entree you'd like (ranging from options like shrimp and fish stew to steak, and even a tofu dish). After ordering, you can get up and go to the buffet in the rear of the room, where you help yourself to your pre-meal delicious rice and beans, as is customary in Brazil. There are also beverages available to order, like mango juice and teas. At some point before entrees arrive, you will get a little appetizer (for instance, we got yucca/cheese balls with a pineapple salsa... to die for!) Finally, Jorgina comes with your entrees, and from there you can also order dessert afterwards. My boyfriend ordered the steak and I got the fish stew. Each came with a fried plantain and perfectly sliced mango (to see what the plates look like, check out the pictures I've uploaded!). The fish was so fresh, and the steak was done perfectly- flavorful and authentic. Jorgina was such a sweetheart as we chatted with her about the food and Brazil. Overall, we would come back to Sinha in a heartbeat. In the future, I would especially like to try the brunch, which is available on weekends with two seatings at both 2 and 4 PM. I would also assume that their catering is fantastic... something to keep in mind if you're having a wedding and want some really unique, reasonably priced and flavorful ethnic cuisine!

Came here for a family members birthday. Our party enjoyed the Sunday brunch. The food was plentiful and tasty and the service was excellent . It was a wide array of Brazilian foods. Also the meal came with a dessert the red velvet flan that was delicious.The chef came out and explained the food. Restaurant is B.Y.O.B.. This was my first time coming here but it will not be my last.

First time at Sinha with some great friends that invited us there. Jeorgina, owner/chef was awesome as was her server. Every thing was great as was the atmosphere. I definitely plan on spreading the word about this hidden gem and inviting others to make a visit there.

The Atmosphere at Sinhas is fun. It provides an opportunity to come together on a Sunday afternoon for Brunch. It's very similar to going to a relatives' house for a Sunday meal. The food is authentic Brazilian cuisine, and provides an opportunity to experience something different and cultural in Chicago, with that being said. Please make sure you a lot at least 3 hours for this brunch/event. We went there as a group of four for Sunday brunch and there was about 40 people there total. Here are some things to be aware of. This all takes places at someone's private residence not a restaurant. During the winter the house is cold, which some might find acceptable. There will be at least 90 minutes between getting there, and eating the meal. The food is plentiful and served buffet style, so you can go for seconds if you wish. I personally thought the food was OK, nothing mind blowing and slightly heavy. However, due to the vibrant atmosphere, and presentation, music, dancing its certainly worth visiting at least once and experiencing. I am not sure I would go back for seconds. I definitely enjoyed my visit and meal there.

This was one of the best and most unique dining experiences I've ever had. It felt like visiting a lost relative and being welcomed and cooked for in her house. The food was some of the best and most authentic I've ever had including the flan and banana bread dessert.
