15 Gluten-Free, Vegan-Friendly Bakeries in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"With split personalities, Sinners and Saints Desserts appeals to everyone. The bakery’s “sinner” section is filled with traditional flour-based desserts, but the “saint” side experiments with gluten-free flours and starches: Find sweet goods like a gluten-free marzipan cake topped with a hazelnut praline buttercream, gluten-free tres leches cake, mini and standard-sized gluten-free cupcakes, cookies, and a creamy but not-too-rich cheesecake. The gluten-free tiramisu is the dessert to not miss for special occasions." - Nicole Adlman

What a cool place. Awesome cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and more. Neat set up and bro manning the counter was funny and very nice. Highly recommend

Google
BEST gluten free desserts I’ve ever had until date. I’ve tried basically everything there & it tastes GOOD. Tres leches cake is so amazing, m&m cookies are yum, red velvet cupcakes, cheesecake etc. They also have non-gluten free options. I’ve eaten basically everything here. You can’t tell anything is gluten free when it is.

Rebecca Antonelli

Google
Incredibly good gluten free desserts, fairly priced, and friendly staff! 100% recommend.

Google
Gluten free or gluten full is your choice at this bakery. We had the smack pie and 2/3 of us really enjoyed. One thought too much marshmallow, but that was kinda the point. 😂 Also got the dark chocolate salted caramel tart and it was delicious. Finally, the chocolate chip cookie was just alright. Prices were a bit steep for the portion but would go back for the flavors.

Google
sorry but honestly wth is this? super sad.... got the "traditional tiramisu" as a birthday gift from my S.O. but its just a red-dyed mess. i guess there was a red dye FLOUR-sifted tree on top for the holidays but its just everywhere at this point. just see the depressing photos... and FYI it is basically a $20 two-inch tupperware tiramisu with no lid, the photos are immediately after opening the take-away box... ***and update, yeah i tried to scrape it off after, being mindful of the decor. but it still tastes like disgusting raw dyed flour and it stains your clothes.....

Google
Great food. Delicious desserts. This place is super hipster and definitely a hidden gem for sugar lovers. You can find 2 patios in the back and in the front where you can enjoy your sandwiches and cupcakes and they even offer gluten free options. So definitely come by when you’re in the area! Oh, and the presentation of their sandwiches is so different - love it!!!

Los Angeles

Google
I was underwhelmed by the service. The worker did not want to be there. No excitement in helping me select the pastries. Perhaps more important, everything is overpriced. If the items are so pricey, shouldn't the customers be able to have small samples before making big purchases? The owner lady was there, but she only tried to advertise about the wine bar she is planning to open next door. Why not offer some samples or describe what you are selling for such high prices? No parking, other than a stressful busy street curb, and a car almost knocked my door off. I actually was not impressed with any of the four small pastry/cakes I purchased for almost $100. Not really worthy...

Yelp
This is one of the best bakeries in the city. Sinners are their regular items and Saints are their gluten-free items. We only get their gluten-free items and the people we've shared them with can't even tell they're gluten-free until we say something. The sugar cookies (which they only do for holidays) are phenomenal. We keep bugging the owner to make something like them year round. We're either wearing her down or annoying the crap out of her; that's how good they are. The peanut-butter sandwich cookies are unlike most peanut butter cookies you've had in the past. A perfect blend of cookie dough and peanut butter filling The chocolate chip pumpkin loaf is simply excellent. We've brought loaves to family functions and they're always the first dessert item finished and asked about. The cupcakes and cakes (we've gotten a birthday cake here, I believe cinnamon vanilla) are super solid. The only thing they're missing is their bread selection that you can order at their sister restaurant 401k, a few doors down. The employees are fun and social. They know their bakery stuff too. The owner is involved and easily recognizes her repeat customers. Final Word: A great place with great people.

Yelp
Cute little pastry shop off of a bustling street in Venice. Lots of dainty treats - that look incredible, made with love?! I'd say so. We got their famous tres leche & lemon bar with two chai lattes with tip about $40... Chai lattes were good, tres leche- perfectly balanced with texture and sweetness, lemon bar was solid but small for the price. Service was thorough.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Way overpriced and desserts are super dry. You can tell they've been sitting there for hours and reused from days before. I got Cinnabons and they threw them in the microwave........and without the icing. They handed me cold icing on the side.

Yelp
This place is a complete dream. I have every kind of allergy imaginable, and this is literally the only bakery, where there's something for everybody. I literally came in and said that my group of friends is vegan, allergic to coconut, and allergic to soy, and they had the most amazing cupcake that the group raved on for weeks! The service is great and the staff is super sweet, I highly recommend and I will obviously be back!
google avatar

Hayden L.

Yelp
I got the vegan mini cupcakes for a friend's birthday. He loved them and said they were delicious! The flavors were chocolate and cinnamon. The service was very friendly and helpful. It's a cute shop with a beautiful display case. It is street parking only and I was able to easily find parking on a side street right off Lincoln.

Liv N.

Yelp
Great service- patient and friendly. Hole in the.wall dessert place. Variety of Yummy desserts.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Gluten free vegan chocolate cupcakes, enough said. There is not better gfdf cupcake out there. It's a PMS dream. Go there and get some immediately! The staff are cool and know their products well. Will definitely return next time in nearby!

Yelp
Cool place, I like their options! I got a slice of chocolate chunk pumpkin loaf and vegan and refined sugar free passion fruit cheesecake. Loaf was solid but the cheesecake was way too sweet for me and my boyfriend. I think if it was less sweet I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Magali L.

Yelp
We went to this cute tiny bakery for Thanksgiving pies. They has stacks if gluten free and regular pies. Peach, cherry, traditional apple, pecan, pumpkin, etc. They were big aNd golden crips. We bought a traditional apple pie which was tightly stacked layers of apple with a subtle hint of cinnamon. The price was truly reasonable for the amount of ingredients in the pie. We also bought a goat mixed berry cheesecake which was a real success. I loved the mignardises (bite size goodies) with golden berries on top. Yummy!!!! We tried the lemon bar, cheese cake with raspberry on top and I tried the chocolate raspberry. All delicious, sophisticated treats.

Yelp
My all time favorite dessert stop. These ladies are always baking up a storm of delicious deserts! "Sinners" for those who don't mind the dairy and gluten and Saints for those being mindful for a vegan or gluten free diet. The crack balls & mini vegan cinnamon cupcakes are my repeats! Obsessed with their chocolate chip cookies as well. Enjoy :)
google avatar

Kaitlin D.

Yelp
Love this spot and love their amazing gluten free selection. Staff is always friendly and quick. Always recommend their creme brulee, little cupcakes, and any seasonal options. They also sell little birthday baggies with candles and little signs. Not much seating so definitely a pick up only. Highly recommend for some nice treats!
google avatar

Yelp
The dessert itself was fine, but there is way too much risk of cross-contamination to make this an actual option for gluten free dessert. The gf and non-gf options were all just sitting out together, no wrapping or anything. I don't really understand the concept of being gluten free if you don't need to be, and if you're able to risk cross contamination at this level then, you don't really need to be. My friend with celiac couldn't even eat anything here and again, what is the point? It also seems weird to me to call having a dessert "sinning" but that's just semantics.

Yelp
Thank god for this place! I was in heaven coming here. Love the fact that there's gluten free and regular goodies. My boyfriend isn't gluten free but he tried the "saints" cupcake, and he LOVED it. The chocolate one with the little berries on top- wow, chefs kiss. Can the world please catch on like this place has done?? They are doing it right here. Customer service was absolutely excellent and they were super nice and friendly. We also tried the chocolate chip cookies and they were phenomenal! We will definitely come back when we're in the area again. Street parking only but had no problem finding it.
google avatar

Elaina B.

Yelp
We ordered a tiramisu here and let me tell you, that's one of the best tiramisu's we've ever had! Will definitely be back in the future to try more of their creations!

Marie R.

Yelp
AWESOME DESSERTS I got the chocolate chocolate cupcake and chocolate chip cookie my son got the red velvet cupcake he said was awesome also the lemon bar too. MMMMMMM ALL GOOD
google avatar

Yelp
Truly the best bakery I've ever been to. Everything is simply ~delicious~. I'm so impressed by all that I have tried, from the cakes to the cupcakes to the small bites. My friends love this spot too. Great selection with a ton of variety, absolutely YUMMY, and great quality. Their service is excellent too. Definitely my go-to bakery for birthdays, events, and just a Saturday night where I may want a sweet treat! Love it!
google avatar

Yelp
Get dessert here I love that this place has a few vegan options. We got a chocolate peanut butter and a vanilla cinnamon cupcake that we split. Both were moist and were sweet but not overpoweringly so. The person helping us was very friendly. We took them to go and had them on the beach
google avatar

Pablo E.

Yelp
This is bar none one of the best dessert destinations . No matter what you are craving you will be met with a smile from the amazing crew always ready to fill your sweet Tooth. The place is cozy and the outdoor seating area is a great place to enjoy a coffee and pastry.
google avatar

Jeaulamie W.

Yelp
Cute dessert shop with a nice selection of pasteries. I love how everything comes in a mini version so you can try a variety of things. A couple of things we got were gluten free (the cheesecakes and one of the cupcakes) and they were delicious and had good texture. We tried raspberry cheesecake, marble cheesecake, vanilla tart, chocolate caramel tart, chocolate raspberry tart, vanilla cupcake, red velvet cupcake, oreo cupcake, and brownie. (All minis)
google avatar

Justine R.

Yelp
Quick update to give a shout out to Joslyn!!! Always the absolutely sweetest and so helpful for picking out treats :) went back for the 2nd time for more chocolate pumpkin bread - SO good.
google avatar

Yana M.

Yelp
Great everything! Super cute spot, definitely coming back to try out their cakes next time

M H.

Yelp
I ordered cupcakes for the gender reveal! I'm so glad I found this place since my husband can't eat eggs. I ordered a dozen vegan, gluten-free vanilla cupcakes and handed Chelsea an envelope with the gender. The cupcakes were moist, and the cream was not too sweet and perfect. They were super delicious, and we enjoyed them with friends! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sue B.

Yelp
A feast for the eyes as well as the sweet tooth, the display of delectable pastries, tarts and cookies is a delight! Both non-restricted eaters (sinners) and gluten intolerant patrons (saints) will be so very happy here. The staff are friendly and engaging. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Jose G.

Yelp
If these delicious desserts make me a sinner, I don't ever want to be a saint! This is a magical place where each dessert is crafted with love and the hands of angels! You can't go wrong with anything here, but let the staff guide you to dessert heaven. The staff is really friendly so please ask them questions. My go to is the bourbon croissant bread pudding and the tres leches cake! The pies are amazing, but make sure you order ahead of time for the holidays. There's a line sometimes so items do sell out. There's parking in the neighborhood and in front. It's small and cozy inside. Highly recommend this hidden gem.
google avatar

Yelp
Gréât desserts although pricey but it's super yummy! I like their tres leeches it's a must try

Kathleen J.

Yelp
Everything here looked so good, and I was really excited to try the chocolate vegan cheesecake. Man I was incredibly disappointed. The only good part was the blackberries on top. Why is the cheesecake the consistency of cookie dough, but tastes like coconut cashew paste??
google avatar

Ashleigh E.

Yelp
This place is sweet all around! Staff, easy parking, coffee and of course the baked yummies! Everything I had tasted as good as it looked, especially the vegan cookie dough bite. I couldn't stop digging in the box for them! Super yummy place, will definitely keep this in my arsenal of places to visit.
google avatar

Nicolas J.

Yelp
Only negative was parking and some treats I liked less than others. Tried both the saints and sinner options meaning gluten free or with gluten. Service was quick and the team member was knowledgeable and provided some background on the business. Has a kinda dark theme which matched the vibe for my Halloween time visit. A little more than I'd like to spend on desserts but it was a special night so we had some special treats. I stay closer to Orange County so this is quite a journey but worth a try if in the area.

Yelp
This is my favorite bakery in all of LA (and my 2nd favorite in the world!) As a gluten free person, it's so hard to find genuinely good desserts that taste like their original non-gf counterparts. Most gf bakeries, the treats are so dense with too much flour or substitute that makes their treats delicious but not like original recipes with gluten in them. This place has never done be wrong. I am so utterly obsessed. I have been going here for years, at least a dozen times in person and three or four times as much with online deliveries. The gluten free lemon tarts and gluten free raspberry creme puffs are my favorite and anytime I order a chef's mixed half dozen online, they always throw in a tiny extra. They even recently had pies over the holidays and I've never had a gluten free pie taste so good. They even have regular non GF for those that don't need to worry about it. I love the place, I love the service, I love the product, and I am a loyal fan for life!
google avatar

Anita K.

Yelp
My friend got me a box one day of Vegan sweets and my life was never the same ever since I found out about Sinners & Saints! The place is literally a hidden gem. I always get the caramel chocolate one, the rainbow balls, and the chocolate cheesecake. Everything I order is always plant based. And I am amazed how good these desserts are! The staff are always super friendly and helpful and with a good mood! Nowadays it is apparently a rare thing! So thank you.

Yelp
They have the best Vegan Gluten free cakes. We ordered a Chocolate Chocolate cake with fruit fr my daughter's 13th birthday. This is the second time we've ordered from them and they don't disappoint. Cake is so fluffy and tastes great, not dense at all. There were fresh fruit all thought the layers. And the chocolate is amazingly good. S&S has always been a place to get gf desserts, and now it's our go-to place for celebration cakes.
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding array of fresh gluten free deserts! As a celiac, I was happily impressed. The tres Leche cake was amazing, moist and flavorful. The cinnamon rolls had a bit of crunch on the outside, really lovely. I wouldn't have known either of those were GF. The creme brulee was yummy but maybe a bit more flavor, vanilla maybe in the custard. The lemon bar, my daughter enjoyed hers but it was a miss for me. I didn't like the crust too much heavy, contrasting flavor. It was almost corn meal like. Same with the little lemon (tart?). Wish we had taken pictures but we ate them on our trip back to Nor Cal.
google avatar

Cindy N.

Yelp
We came in around 7pm on a Wednesday. We parked about a block away in a local neighborhood. As always, be careful about parking signs! Thankfully, there was no wait. We ordered the vanilla crème brûlée, the mini raspberry cream puff, and a marble cheesecake bite. I loved the crème brûlée! I also enjoyed the raspberry cream puff. I didn't try the marble cheesecake, but my friend loved it. I love that they have "mini" desserts so that we were able to try a variety of sweet treats--without feeling too full! It was the perfect amount for us. The cashiers were super sweet and helpful. The bakery itself is really cute and it has some outdoor seating. I recommend checking this spot out if you have a sweet tooth!
google avatar

Christi I.

Yelp
We got delivery from them and it was dope. Delivery dude set it outside of my building instead of ringing my buzzer. I mean...l.good but, I did tip 10 buckaroos! We ordered the cinnamon rolls which were delicious! I loved rolling it around in the cream cheese. I would only suggest that they serve these already warmed up. I didn't feel like popping these bad boys in the microwave but I have a feeling they would be next level. The Bread pudding was very good with a nice crunchy exterior. Just wish it were served warm and certain parts weren't so dry. The pumpkin loaf slice was very moist and the chocolate chip cookie was just okay. Some of these desserts probably would have tasted better warmed up. Oh, well. I still enjoyed my dessert.
google avatar

Nichole W.

Yelp
I was very confused by the sinners and Saints separation when I first walked into the bakery. The woman at the counter did a very good job of explaining it however, my friend wasn't listening very well. Needless to say nobody knew that there was really any difference between any of our treats. They were all delicious.
google avatar

Skylar F.

Yelp
I will say, at first I overlooked this place because the branding threw me off. I didn't think it was a bakery because of the name and the all black outside and decor.... But since I realized, I've come here a couple of times to grab birthday treats for friends and they never disappoint ! The staff is super friendly and will go over everything with with you. What I love most is that they have options for every diet and their options are just as good as everything else. I'm always looking for a reason to pop in. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Payam Ali K.

Yelp
Oh my goodness.... Easy.. and I mean easy 5 stars. I can tell you with confidence, I could not find one con but a ton of pros. That selection of food and desserts is amazing. Not only that, the service is great as the people behind the counter were patient with me and gave excellent suggestions. The ambience is great as well especially when you walk in and your eyes are gazing at a huge selection to choose from. Easily the best part is this place isn't a wallet killer, but gives you delicious high quality desserts. Easy winner in my book.
google avatar

Meg K.

Yelp
Great local bakery especially if you are eating Gluten Free. Tiramisu (GF) was amazing!!! Bread pudding was out of the world and the chocolate cake was another hit. I highly highly recommend this place!!!
google avatar

S C.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. If it was more affordable, I'd be here all the time. Portions are tiny for the tarts and at $3 a pop, I would need to drop way too much money. They are about the size of a quarter. I also had the bourbon bread pudding and it was good but not worth $12.

Karla D.

Yelp
Made this account just to warn others. I got violently ill from cross contamination after buying from this bakery. Do yourself a favor and go to a real all gluten free facility. Do NOT recommend.

Bella H.

Yelp
I came here about a week ago, I had been meaning to visit and I was in Marina del Rey for the day so it wasn't too out of the way. When I walked in, I was overwhelmed by all the gluten free choices. I got some cookies, cookie dough balls, a cupcake, and the flourless chocolate cake. I definitely was not a fan of the flourless chocolate cake but everything else was delicious. The cookies were chewy but still cooked thoroughly. Service was amazing as well, the lady working had some good recommendations. Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area. *I also got dairy free peanut butter sandwich things for my sister and she said they were really good*

Sky R.

Yelp
My sister ordered a variety of gluten free items that both my boyfriend (who is gluten intolerant) and I (who isn't) could enjoy for Valentine's Day. We literally are the whole box that night. This last weekend we were on the west side and I wanted to stop by. It's my new favorite!!! Everything is so good! The cupcakes, tres leches, chocolate torte, cheesecake... just so good. Love how they differentiate between gluten free (saints) and non (sinners). The only issue is trying to pick which thing to try!
google avatar

Misty E.

Yelp
Cleverly themed bakery located off of Lincoln in Venice. We were able to find parking on the side street but it can get tricky because Lincoln is a busy street. The person helping us was nice and very helpful when directing us to the vegan options. It's a small shop but there were a lot of options, even a decent amount of vegan options. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the passion fruit cheesecake or the truffles! Everything had a coconut after taste which is not my favorite. We were told it would have a nutty taste but that was not the case. I intentionally did not select the other vegan cheesecake because it said it was coconut based. I was really hoping to like this place but it's not going to be on my lineup of bakeries. I'll stick with vegan bakeries that have mastered the art of not baking everything with coconut milk or flour. While I love the concept and the marketing of sinners vs saints, the customer service, decor and vast offerings, sadly the taste of the vegan options was not to my liking. I recognize lots of people love the coconut taste so I would say, try it for yourself. Also, if you're gluten free, this is a good place for you given the many options available.
google avatar

Agnes D.

Yelp
What a great experience. We found this place on Yelp as we were in search for a GF dessert before we had back home. This place has sooo many options. First of, they have all their desserts marked with either Saints (GF) or Sinners (non GF) . How catchy is that? I love all the GF i ordered but my favorite was the GF Lemon Bar. It was just the perfect sweetness, the crust was amazing! I love the interior decor, and more importantly, we were greeted by such a warm and friendly, helpful lady!
google avatar

Maya D.

Yelp
This is such a cute dessert spot! Since it was my first time visiting, the lady was very helpful & friendly when explaining the concept of the shop to me. I personally don't have a gluten allergy, but I love that they have so many gluten-free options! Everything looked amazing and it was honestly hard to choose. They have a little bit of everything: cookies, cupcakes, bread pudding, tres leches, tarts, cheesecake, truffles! I think out of the things I got, the mini cream puffs were my favorite. But I really don't think that you can go wrong with anything you pick here!
google avatar

Olive R.

Yelp
Why not try something sweet? On a Sunday night? Good assortment of pastries. I tried several items on their menu. Some I liked and some I actually spit out. Everyone has certain tastes and I would just say go with what you think looks great to you! I however thought the lemon bar tasted nasty, BUT there was other fruity items I purchased that made up for it. The chocolate raspberry tart is a good example. The staff were nice and quick. Parking was difficult.

Aysel Ping-Guang J.

Yelp
I love the pastries and I loved reconnecting with the boss and the bakery is so cute also my recommendations are the cookies and little cheesecake shout to Riley she always has a great personality and she gives out the best recommendations
google avatar

Nikki P.

Yelp
My first time and I won't be back. Cupcake was dry, the frosting was hard and it was overpriced. I parked in front, off Lincoln, but honestly it's such a sketchy and busy road that I just don't trust drivers so please be careful.
google avatar

Danielle K.

Yelp
I knew this place was gonna be a problem when i saw the mini tarts and i was right. White flags are gluten free and black flags are for normies (me). But they have dairy free & vegan options too. I got the raspberry tartlet, mixed berry cream puff, and oreo cupcake. See my problem was, i only got those 3 mini desserts. I shouldve gotten a whole box and a few more to boot! The frosting was rich and buttery on the mini cupcake, the cream in the puff was light but not too sweet, just the right amount. The berries were fresh and the crust shortbready. My husband got the tres leches which they are famous for and some cookie dough truffle thingys (all gf) Staff behind the counter were SO nice and welcoming and cheerful. It looks very fancy inside but unlike a lot of places, this one delivers on flavor and not just looks!! I'm sad i live quite far away but im already fat so maybe it's a good thing?? Cant wait to come back!!
