They are currently exclusive RSVP only, so make sure you make one! I recommend that if you plan on going on a weekend, make it a few days in advance because when I went in on a Saturday at 11am, most of the tables were filled.
My friend and I ordered the China Rose Tea because it was the "tea room favorite". I was afraid it might be a little too florally for me since I am not a huge fan of floral teas but was surprised that it didn't taste floral at all but had a very strong black tea flavor. Personally, I wouldn't order this again since I'm not a huge fan of black teas in general.
The other tea we got was the Meng Fei Tea which was a light, soft and delicious tasting green tea. This one, I would definitely get again. I felt that it went well with all the dishes, especially the pigs in a blanket which were a little greasier than the other dishes.
The Chef's menu consists of the sandwiches of the day, a mini salad, 2 fancy pigs in a blanket, a scone, and assorted desserts in a three tier tower.
Our sandwiches were: egg salad with arugula, fig and cheese and apples, orange marmalade and cheese, and ham and pesto. I feel like tea sandwiches are always a hit or a miss, especially considering the fact that I don't usually like one ingredient in the sandwiches. Here I don't like arugula or fig but it didn't hinder the sandwiches too much. For two people, they gave us three sandwiches per flavor.
The scones of the day was chocolate chip and the other was raisin. Since there was two of us, we split them in half so we could try both. Surprisingly, the raisin one was superior because when paired with the jam or lemon curd, the chocolate one would feel too sweet.
At this time we were too full to really eat and enjoy the dessert section but like a true elite yelper, I tried at least one bite of each dessert, just to try. The raspberry tart was pretty decent but the other two desserts, blueberry bund cake and the orange marmalade cookie - they were not it. They weren't horrible band if I was hungry I would eat it but they weren't "jumping out of my seat delicious". They were just average.
Overall, the atmosphere within Sip Tea Room was great, lively and it encouraged conversation or if you were kind of like my friend and I, there was plenty of gossip to overhear.
