"Sip Tea Room replaced Secret Garden Tea House with a more modern setting. The tea service itself leans traditional though, arriving on a three-tier stand with sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, strawberry preserves, lemon curd, and sweets. The full afternoon tea experience has two seatings, and runs Thursday through Sunday; reservations are required." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff

"At first glance, Sip Tea Room in the Sunset looks like a cafe. But you’ll soon realize you’re at a casual but not over-the-top afternoon tea experience as soon as the finger sandwiches, black and green teas, and sausage rolls arrive. The rotating selection of freshly made scones is what sets this place apart. Warm to the touch, soft, and just the right amount of sweet, they pair perfectly with the tart strawberry jam, bright lemon curd, and thick clotted cream. To get the full experience ($49 for sausage rolls, sandwiches, scones, fruit, and tiny pastries), book a reservation at least 24-hours in advance, but walk-ins can always order the “lighter-fare” menu (sans fruit and pastries for around $25). I really enjoyed eating here. Reservation is highly recommended if you want to dine outside (FYI you have to pay for the food in advance if you reserve online). Food was fantastic! I had a mango kind scone and a different flavored one that I can't remember. The sausage pastry was great and the sandwiches were filling. They provide togo containers for any food you don't eat. Great experience.

Splendid staff! food is delectable and the whole restaurant has a warm and welcoming feel to it. You pay a flat fee per person when booking so it makes everything smooth when you enter the place. It’s an entire experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Took my mom here for Mother’s Day - it was a lovely experience! We were greeted with a welcome glass of Prosecco, and they had a pianist playing live music for brunch! The tea service started with sausage rolls, which were my favorite. It was followed by the tower of tea goodies - the sandwiches were very good with a variety of flavors. The scones were also very fresh and had good flavor. The desserts were not quite as impressive, but we were full by the time we reached the top! There was a nice selection of teas, and the pots + china they have were darling. The service here is the best - so welcoming and hospitable! My mom even received a bag of tea as a gift on our way out. Definitely great for a mom or gals date!

A lovely English tea experience. We walked in and are seated quickly. They have really great black tea - like the “Tea Blend” and terrific scones with the right amount of cream, jam and lemon curd. They also told you the difference between the Cornwall vs Devon style of eating scones! They have a small garden at the back (4 tables). Reasonably priced, cozy ambiance, and very friendly service. I love that they look out onto the Golden Gate Park, too.

Such a cute tea room! The staff is great and super friendly. Their house tea blend goes perfect with their scones. I would highly recommend visiting!

Delicious tea service! We were a walk-in who enjoyed their final scones of the day. They run out of their fresh baked goods regularly, so go early. Full English tea service must be booked online in advance.

Had a great lunch here when I needed a break from exploring the botanical gardens. I enjoyed sipping my tea and mimosa as I read my book; I also had a delicious meal. Thanks to Sip Tea Room for the hospitality.

After coming back from London, I really wanted to have afternoon tea with my friends for my birthday. It was important to me that the location have clotted cream. I found this place and loved how it looked. The prices were worth it. I made a reservation through their website. It is highly recommended to make a reservation. It seems they only serve during certain times as we did see some groups be turned away. There were a few tables, but it was very nice inside. We were a group of five, but we all did the deluxe afternoon tea set. It isn't stated, but you are able to choose from two type of sandwiches that are cut into three pieces (so six pieces total). I wish we knew this first since we would have been able to share the different type of sandwiches. Unfortunately, I don't recall which teas we chose, but all three were really tasty. I was disappointed in the amount of cream they gave. I understand that it may be an allotted amount per serving dish, but it was still a very small amount given. Overall, the experience was great! I was a bit worried that you can only request a reservation time and it will be confirmed later on. While they did confirm fairly quickly, I wish their scheduling system would block out unavailable times. The snacks and tea were really tasty and all the dining ware was beautiful. I was a bit disappointed in the cream portions as it was definitely not enough for all the food. The menu is a bit confusing as well. I would love to come back again soon, but will probably only come for a special event.

Yelp
My sister made a reservation for an all ladies tea to celebrate my daughters' birthday. Upon arriving, the hostess took our tea selections. There are plenty of teas to choose from. Do let them know if you want loose tea leaves and they will set you up with a tea strainer. We all chose different teas. The 2 birthday girls had peach ginger tea and honey bush tea. My sister ordered the guest favorite tea of Chinese rose petal which we all tried and liked. The reservation was for a full traditional afternoon tea. We started with sausage and vegetable rolls with HP brown sauce. They tasted good, but I really couldn't tell the difference between the two. Each time food was brought out descriptions were provided by our server. The 3-tier serving stand had on its bottom layer a variety of tea sandwiches as in pesto turkey, egg salad, cucumber, fig and goat cheese, strawberry and Nutella, and hummus and tomatoes. I found the fig and goat cheese and hummus and tomatoes unique. The tomatoes were sweet and fresh. The middle tier had cranberry currant scones with the tea room's clotted cream, strawberry preserves, and lemon curd. At the very top were the desserts of blueberry parfait, petite cakes, tea cookies, and fresh fruit. All other patrons in the tea room were enjoying their teas and conversations. It was indeed a feast as the 2 guests of honor declared it was "a lot of food" and they could not finish. They brought home tea sandwiches to share with their father and grandfather who had not been included in the tea. It's not often that we get to go out and enjoy a nice tea. We thoroughly enjoyed the setting and the company as did a couple of out of town guests at a nearby table whom the hostess was seeing out.

Yelp
What a treat! Made a reservation for 2 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The overall ambiance is cozy, cute, and calm. The tea service was so lovely. The tea choices are many, I had the ginger peach tea and it was delicious. The food was so delicious and fun. The sausage rolls were so nice, the pastry perfectly crispy. The sandwiches and fresh salad were delicious. The scones, divine. The desserts, decadent and perfect. I would highly recommend reservations, but they do accommodate walk-ins, and have a smaller menu for such. Just a lovely way to spend an hour and a half. Warm tea, comfort treats, and good conversation all in a welcoming environment? Yes, please!

Yelp
Super cute tea spot in the city! This was my first afternoon tea experience and sip tea room was a great spot to spend time with friends. We made reservations online and paid beforehand -- there was a prix fixe of $49 per person. Got seated right away when we arrived: the room is a bit small, but very peaceful and cozy. The tea cups and plates are very cute and colorful. There's a large selection of teas to choose from, ranging from green teas to non-caffeinated teas. The staff is incredibly kind and patient, and they came with our orders very quickly. The finger sandwiches were delicious, with both savory and sweet options. The scone was fluffy and moist, with incredible jam and clotted cream to spread on. Delicious sweets and fruits to end your meal with as well. Plenty of food to enjoy and you'll feel very full and content by the end of your experience.

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday. Everything was very tasty and the staff were friendly. The only downfall was that we felt like our experience was rushed. We had an hour limit on our table. Wish that wasn't the case, but I understand the need to flip tables.

Lita B.

Yelp
This place used to be the Secret Garden way before the pandemic. They had really good sandwiches and pastries. Sip Tea took over and their food is just as good. They require full payment when making reservations and non-refundable which is an uncommon rule. You can't change the number of people attending either so make sure everyone shows up or find your replacement. They also have a 2 hour limit per party. Come here with a heavy appetite if you're ordering the traditional tea service. Not bad for $49/person. We couldn't finish all our food. The sandwiches were delicious and the minced meat pastries and scones were filling. Service was outstanding. We were a party of 3 and had a choice of our own of tea. There were only 3 tables occupied and I wondered why I only got the 11:00 slot. Then we were told that we have to leave at 1 due to a big party coming up which will fill the whole restaurant. The place is cozy and charming. They even have a corner that sells teacups, teapots, etc. I even saw people walking in and picking up their orders of a Picnic tea basket for one. Great to have tea and sandwiches at the park across the street or as a gift. One of my favorites!

Sarah P.

Yelp
Great food, solid tea, very cute glassware, and glassware & tea for sale at reasonable prices. The environment is relaxed - very pleasant to sit next to the windows on a rainy day. It was strange that they asked for upfront payment - including tip - at the point of reservation. But the price point was quite decent especially compared to other places in the city. Will definitely be coming back again.

Gabriela R.

Yelp
If you need gluten-free, message the owner before your visit so she can meet your needs. The sandwiches were creative, but I was left missing some of the more traditional flavors.. The scones were delightful, as well as the jam. I do wish we could have wrapped up our meal with some petit fours. I also wish they offered hot chocolate for the littles. We bought a little honey pot, which was the cutest. The owner seemed a bit standoffish and not very warm, although she seemed to warm up a bit after I complimented her tea room. Parking is super problematic, so Lyft there.

Yelp
This was our second time going, and this time around I had to use a walker due to an injury last month. They were so kind and took such good care of me, making sure I got seated right away and even holding the bathroom door for me to make it easy. And of course the full tea service is amazing! Such delicious food and excellent service, a fun and special experience. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
After a cock-blocking parking experience on Lincoln and a thousand adjacent streets, and seeing every available space on the opposite side of the street with no left turn for A FUCKING MILE, my wife and I bailed on our highly anticipated visit to Sip and called to cancel. The fabulous staff boxed up our order and had it waiting for us when we finally arrived.* Although we missed the experience of sitting in the charming shop and enjoying their impeccable service, the food was delicious as always when we enjoyed it at home. *Double-parked, in case anyone wondered.

Angela Y.

Yelp
A cute spot for for full afternoon tea right next to the park! We made reservations for the 11am seating on a Saturday, and we paid upfront. The space inside is small, but cozy and well-decorated. Walk-ins are limited. For the full tea experience, we each got to choose our own pot of tea. I went with the Fine Assam which was delicious. We started off with some sausage pastries. Then we had the tower of finger sandwiches, scones, and cookies/cakes. This was all included in the full afternoon tea. The scones were warm and paired perfectly with lemon curd and clotted cream. Everything was vegetarian-friendly. The staff was friendly and even lit a candle for us so we could celebrate a birthday. I would love to come here again sometime when I'm looking for a fancier brunch or celebrating a special occasion. It was deceptively filling, as we shared this among four people. Though it was on the pricier side (around $50pp), it's similar to the price of having brunch in the city. It's definitely a unique spot, and I'd recommend checking it out! Make sure to make a reservation first.

Cecilia R.

Yelp
Beautifully simple tea room for sitting with friends or family. The owner is really sweet and gave great recommendations- decided on the SIP Classic to try a variety of tea sandwiches and baked sweets. Especially loved the lemon and raspberry curds which complimented the scones wonderfully. Price can be a little steep, but worth it for a special occasion. Will definitely come back to try different delicacies of the rotating selection!

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Great experience at Sip tea room! The food was great and I think we'll priced compared to other tea rooms in the city. The service was kind and very helpful when it came to finding the right tea pairings. And the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing which is exactly what I look for when going to a tea room. The parking in this area is rough to find and is close to Golden Gate Park where there are many break-ins so take precautions and either take public transportation or leave early to find a spot and leave nothing in your car!

Cat N.

Yelp
Such a fun place to go on a Saturday afternoon. We had a wonderful experience. It had decorations for Easter tastefully done. The people were hard-working and very kind. Food tasted divine highly recommend. The only bad thing is finding parking, but even that wasn't so bad.

Hee Y.

Yelp
LOCATION: 5/5 (central location next to other restaurants & stores) VIBE: 5/5 (pretty chinaware, decor & clean facilities) SERVICE: 4/5 (attentive but a bit aloof) FOOD: 2/5 (flavorless & dry desserts) I booked a reservation for tea for 2 on a Saturday two weeks prior. You can choose if you'd like to sit outside in the back or inside (there are more tables inside). If you do make a reservation, then you have to pay for the meals in advance ($50 per person including tax) and choose between regular with meat or vegetarian. Make sure you set aside at least 10-15 min to find parking. I would recommend looking for street parking inside golden gate park (Martin Luther King Jr Dr). It was packed when we tried to find parking inside the park and eventually found an open spot on a white painted curb with a sign saying it's for the tour bus (but the car was still there and with no tickets when we came back 2 hrs later!) Inside the tea room, the hostess checked our vaccination cards and led us to the garden patio. Our server came to check on us regularly which I appreciated. The food was disappointing. If I ask myself, would I come back?, I wouldn't because of the food. The sausage rolls had a bread to sausage ratio of 4:1. The sandwiches were bland. The scones were OK. The dessert - chocolate cake was dry, lemon bar too sweet & the fruit looked like it was left out from the day before.

Donna L.

Yelp
Sip Tea Room is a really cute small hidden gem in the inner sunset for high tea. I came here today with a few friends. I ordered the black mango tea which I liked a lot. It was fragrant and tasty! I particularly liked the curry finger sandwich, scones and the lemon curd dessert. The lemon curd for the scones was also very delicious as well. I would recommend this spot for afternoon tea. Parking could be a bit tricky though.

Sarah C.

Yelp
very cute and dainty interior with super friendly and accommodating staff. the tea and the scones w clotted cream/custard/jam were probably my fav; the sandwiches were a lil dry

Judy S.

Yelp
Walked past here a couple times but they didn't take walk-ins, so I made a reservation online. You pay for everything when you book and they don't charge you day of. We got the tea for two where everything is fixed except you can pick the tea, my favorite was the sausage rolls and earl grey tea. The guava scone was also surprisingly good.

Katherine T.

Yelp
This was my second time here and we came to celebrate a friends birthday! It seems like on the weekends they don't accept walk-ins, so we had made an online reservation a few weeks in advance (they do require you to pay ahead of time!). For the set that we ordered, each person got to pick their own choice of tea and we were also served veggie and sausage rolls, as well as two three-tier trays of sandwiches, scones, and sweets. Luckily for me, they had a non-caffeinated list of teas I could choose from and I picked the chamomile lavender tea. It was super fragrant and a great pick! The rolls were delicious as were the other snacks. The sandwiches came in a variety of different flavors, and I personally really enjoyed the cucumber and egg salad sandwich. Staff here is very lovely and attentive and overall provided a great expereinc

Natalie M.

Yelp
This place was incredible! You just got to check it out. It's very cute and chic inside and you get the option of delicious treats to pair with your tea. We tried the sencha and china rose petal tea. GET the china rose petal tea. It's soooo good with milk and a bit of sugar. They provide sandwiches that include cucumber/hummus, egg salad, chicken curry, and one with tomato, basil and mozzarella. You start off with sausage rolls and these are SO good! The scones we had were mixed berry and pumpkin. Very cool because it's seasonal! The lemon curd, berry puree, and butter were all superb with them. We also finished off with a brandy trifle, pumpkin bread and chocolate truffle. All so filling and delicious. I loved the ambiance and the service was great. We did not feel rushed. This is a fun place for tea time--and if it's your birthday, they serve you in a special birthday tea cup.

Napalai S.

Yelp
We reserved an afternoon Tea service for 2. It was lovely ambience and decorations. It is located right by GG park entrance. Great options for tea, delicious scones, sandwiches and desserts. We couldn't finish all the food. Great experience on Sat afternoon with a friend.

Christina J.

Yelp
This spot is a "cant miss " date pitch Menu is preselected so its hard to give specific recommendations Protip for non caffeine teas: they had a black tea available when we asked for one

Jenna S.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came as a walk in around noon on a Saturday and was able to be immediately seated outside. We each got the sip classic. I got the Earl Grey tea and he got the Black Mango tea. We got the fig & cream, cucumber, nutella, ham & pesto sandwich, and two scones. All of the sandwiches were good but the scones were the star of the show! They were flaky, buttery, and just melts un your mouth. After this, we went to the grocery store to get more scones and they didn't compare. The tea was good, but nothing spectacular. Overall, it was a decent high tea experience - would feel more authentic if we got a tiered dessert tower and was seated inside but I will make a reservation next time to see how different my experience will be from inside.

Christina L.

Yelp
Hubby surprised me with a birthday tea time here! It was my first time having this kind of experience and it was absolutely wonderful! Everything from the decoration, environment, staff, food, and of course tea! Parking: I would recommend coming in early to find parking. It's a bit hard to find as this place is across the street from Golden Gate Parks. They have plenty of delicious teas to choose from. I wish they had an option to have unlimited tea cause I would definitely take full advantage of that! At first when I looked at the other tables around us, I didn't think their sandwiches, fruits, and snacks were going to fill me up (i'm a big girl). But surprisingly I was stuffed to the max after our meal. It was definitely an experience to remember and I am already dreaming of the next time I can come back!

Katherine O.

Yelp
Excited for high tea and didn't mind paying in advance. What I liked about it; not cluttered like a lot of tea places and clean. The sausage rolls were yummy but I do not understand the gravy part. My sister liked the lavender shortbread cookie (I didn't have any). What I didn't like about it; 1. When we arrived we were seated right in front of the door. Having been cold since we got here I asked if we could sit away from the door and told no because all of the tables were booked.?? I'm still not sure what this meant as there were only 2 other tables full when we got there and another 2 tables while we were there. Immediate bad taste in my mouth. 2. I personally prefer more tea choices but that's just me. What I had was fine but nothing there was really unusual or something that maybe I don't already have at home. And the tea pots are SMALL. 3. We were never offered more tea (or should I say "hot water") until we were about to leave. Hmm. 4. The food is seriously meh. The sandwiches are flavorless except for the egg salad. They give you 2 scones of 2 different flavors to share? Weird. The portions should fit the number of people to split. You each get the same amount. It just was a big disappointment. High tea is supposed to be special and yummy, it was neither unfortunately. Wah wahhhhh.

Jessy M.

Yelp
Very fun atmosphere. I know very little about tea and its delicacies, but I think this is more of an experience rather than looking for a place with good prices and good food. I am a dude and was taken by my gf and her friends. I think girls would enjoy this place, not considering prices.

Audrey V.

Yelp
Enjoyed tea with my daughter at Sip Tea Room recently. The savory was sausage rolls with a British brown sauce. This was new to us and very yummy. The scone was tall and light, probably the best I've had in a tea room. Four varieties of petite sandwiches were served. We didn't have much room left for the dessert bites on the top tier! We also enjoyed chatting a bit with our server.

Naomi C.

Yelp
They are currently exclusive RSVP only, so make sure you make one! I recommend that if you plan on going on a weekend, make it a few days in advance because when I went in on a Saturday at 11am, most of the tables were filled. My friend and I ordered the China Rose Tea because it was the "tea room favorite". I was afraid it might be a little too florally for me since I am not a huge fan of floral teas but was surprised that it didn't taste floral at all but had a very strong black tea flavor. Personally, I wouldn't order this again since I'm not a huge fan of black teas in general. The other tea we got was the Meng Fei Tea which was a light, soft and delicious tasting green tea. This one, I would definitely get again. I felt that it went well with all the dishes, especially the pigs in a blanket which were a little greasier than the other dishes. The Chef's menu consists of the sandwiches of the day, a mini salad, 2 fancy pigs in a blanket, a scone, and assorted desserts in a three tier tower. Our sandwiches were: egg salad with arugula, fig and cheese and apples, orange marmalade and cheese, and ham and pesto. I feel like tea sandwiches are always a hit or a miss, especially considering the fact that I don't usually like one ingredient in the sandwiches. Here I don't like arugula or fig but it didn't hinder the sandwiches too much. For two people, they gave us three sandwiches per flavor. The scones of the day was chocolate chip and the other was raisin. Since there was two of us, we split them in half so we could try both. Surprisingly, the raisin one was superior because when paired with the jam or lemon curd, the chocolate one would feel too sweet. At this time we were too full to really eat and enjoy the dessert section but like a true elite yelper, I tried at least one bite of each dessert, just to try. The raspberry tart was pretty decent but the other two desserts, blueberry bund cake and the orange marmalade cookie - they were not it. They weren't horrible band if I was hungry I would eat it but they weren't "jumping out of my seat delicious". They were just average. Overall, the atmosphere within Sip Tea Room was great, lively and it encouraged conversation or if you were kind of like my friend and I, there was plenty of gossip to overhear.

Daniel C.

Yelp
I went with my girlfriend for her birthday. The afternoon tea service is truly something special - a selection of delicious sandwiches, fresh-baked scones with clotted cream and jam, and an array of delicate pastries and cakes, all beautifully arranged on a three-tiered tray. And of course, the tea is fantastic. You can choose from a wide variety of high-quality loose-leaf teas, and the knowledgeable staff will help guide you in selecting the perfect one to complement your food choices. The atmosphere at SIP Tea Room is elegant and refined, yet still welcoming and comfortable. It's the perfect setting to catch up with friends, celebrate a special occasion, or simply indulge in a luxurious treat. Overall, the afternoon tea experience at SIP Tea Room is top-notch. The food, tea, and service are all exceptional, and the attention to detail is truly impressive. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and delightful afternoon tea experience in San Francisco.

Betty C.

Yelp
Good place for afternoon tea. Not a lot of places do sausage rolls so that was good. They changed their reservation to tock now so you have to prepay which is different from pre-pandemic. The seating is only 90 minutes so you do feel like it's timed as when it was 3pm they were ready to close up shop. They didn't hurry us along but you did feel like your time was up.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Sip Tea is our local neighborhood tea room that we have visited pre-pandemic and ordered a couple of times to go during the pandemic. We were happy to support a women owned business and they were kind enough to leave hand written thank you notes with our to go!

Holly N B.

Yelp
My friend set up Sunday tea for an Aussie visitor and invited me to join them. I had never been to Sip Tea Room before. It's a lovely mother/son team. They have a large variety of caffeine teas & infusions, though I kinda had wished mine had been loose. That's not a big deal, but I did take note that it wasn't simply tea bags from a package. The sandwiches were tasty, the scones & sweets were yummy. I particularly enjoyed the lemon curd. We had our table for a full 90 minutes, so we didn't feel rushed in any way. We were able to have a really nice visit. I would definitely return for another special occasion.

Kelly L.

Yelp
I came here to celebrate my birthday with my friends and we had a wonderful experience! They only do reservations for the weekends and you should book at least a month in advance to secure the date. We liked everything but the sandwich that stood out to me was the prosciutto one. The flavor of every ingredient blend so well together. Although it's a little pricey, you get A LOT of food. My group of 5 weren't even make it to the dessert tea and had several sandwiches leftover.

Tessa B.

Yelp
We came to the Sip Tea Room for the 1:30PM holiday tea service on 12/21/2023. I had booked and prepaid the experience 18 days in advance. We arrived at 1:28PM ad there were a number of folks waiting outside on the sidewalk, we were finally let in the door 10 minutes later. We sat down and they brought our prosecco within 10 mins, we did not get our teas until well after 2PM ad the sausage rolls arrived at 2:15PM. Finally the remainder of our food arrived at 2:35PM. The food was great, but the slow service dampened the experience. So, I guess this was a very authentic English tea experience, great teas, yummy food but very slow service.

Mitzi W.

Yelp
My friend who lives in the neighborhood found this outdoor prix fixe tea for us to try as our first outdoor dining during the pandemic. We had reserved and prepaid before online. We had an 11:30 reservation and were seated outside the front of the restaurant. I believe they also have dining in the back. The tea was wonderful. It came with a choice of a mimosa, Prosecco or sparking apple cider. A pot of tea for each. We were celebrating a birthday so the guest of honor had a special place setting. Tea started with the two scrumptious sausage rolls. I only ate one because i wanted to save room for the sandwiches. The tea sandwich presentation was beautiful. Each of the six sandwiches were but into threes so we could each have a pieces. Three scones. And a variety of mini desserts. A small salad (I would've liked a little dressing with it.). They also will replenish your clotted cream and lemon curd. Such a wonderful experience!!!

Valeria S.

Yelp
Loved our experience at Sip Tea Room! My partner and I went for their Easter celebration during the morning session. There was live piano playing which made the place feel even more cozy . Everyone is super nice and helpful when you're trying to choose your tea. The actual teas and high tea fare are very good. I loved all the finger sandwiches and the scones are AMAZING. Their dessert tier is also super super good. We loved the scones so maybe ended up buying some frozen ones to take home -- really recommend doing this! The presentation and everything was very on point and I can't wait to be back!

Adrian H.

Yelp
Just a wonderful place to visit. The tea is great, the food is great, the people working are so nice and attentive. We've also had the tea service at the palace hotel and as beautiful as it is, this place is just better in every way. Such a warm and cozy atmosphere, and the sandwiches and scones are absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Oct. 2021. Had the Afternoon Tea Service for 4. I had the guest favorite China Rose black tea and it was truly the best of the 4 we ordered. Service was good, ambiance was clean and traditional. Food was fresh. Sandwiches were chicken curry, egg salad, and hummus. The pumpkin spice cake was yummy as well. 2 sausage puff pastry rolls help to fill you up. Scones were a bit dry. Had plenty of tea and enjoyed ourselves. Overall was around $55 per person ( $45 pay in advance tax and tip prefixe). Was not the most special tea experience but it's definitely a solid option for afternoon tea close by.

Yelp
I placed a reservation and, while slightly expensive for tea, the whole experience did not disappoint. Gracious, accepting and friendly hosts, fantastic tea selection, and great food. It was a superb value!

Yelp
A lovely, classic neighborhood tearoom! My daughter treated me to tea in this cute as a button tea room. Tea rooms were a woman's domain, as the coffeehouse was traditionally a mans domain. This tea room delivered on the coziness I like in such a place: somewhat funky with the mixed china patterns, a bit shabby chic, feminine, cloth napkins, and a great selection of teas. The food was lovely. Sausage rolls are a new obsession of mine and Sip's delivered all the flavorful goodness of sausage encased in crunchy puff pastry. I'll be adding those to my personal tea service! The service was prompt and friendly without being overly intrusive, which allowed for a nice conversational environment. Each course was beautifully presented and yummy. It is a small operation so be aware that once a reservation is booked, it cannot be cancelled and refunded. Why? It's a small operation, they purchase and prepare the food fresh daily, based on their bookings. The devotion to freshness shows fully in the final product. For a taste of the UK without the travel hassle, Sip is the place!

Yelp
I took my mom and nieces here for a celebration and we had an incredible time. The tea was delicious, the facility was adorable, the owner and her husband were lovely. If you're a tea lover, this is the place to be. The food was also amazing and the ambiance was cozy on a rainy day. Everything was fresh, delicious, and hand made (family members are in the kitchen too!). We can't wait to go back.

Yelp
No. I absolutely do not recommend. My daughters wanted to have tea with me like they usually do when they are on break from school. I chose this place based on photos and Yelp reviews written by my fellow Elite friends: Genevieve, Lori, Christine, and Athena. My younger daughter had a morning cancellation in her schedule so she called for a reservation the morning of our visit. My visit started off terribly and ended horribly. I'm still in shock how unprofessionally unkind that woman was without provocation. As soon as we sat down I asked if they had anything gluten free. I did not expect the exasperated, offended eye-rolling response she gave. We were supposed to notify them 24 hours in advance. They make everything fresh so there's nothing really gluten free. Then she asks who is gluten free. I raised my hand and she repeats there is nothing gluten-free for me so I ask if the sandwich fillings can be served without bread. I also ordered tea and coffee. She wasn't going to make me feel welcome. She wasn't going to offer a solution despite working there and knowing what is in the kitchen. I had to take the initiative to problem solve a way to salvage tea with my daughters despite her rudeness. Someone had to be the better person in this scenario. Eliminate the attitude and we get to the core of the issue. Not only would NO ONE WITH CELIAC BE ABLE YO EAT HERE IF YOUR LOVED ONES SURPRISE YOU WITH A VISIT HERE, they will treat you like garbage for having a medical dietary restriction. Lovely. I bake gluten free all the time. I mentioned this in a previous bakery review. Baking same day in small batches isn't complicated especially if you are organized. A scone? Not hard at all. It is essentially a cream biscuit. Those of us with culinary chops know this. Onward. The girls get their teas and food. I have nothing. They are uncomfortably eating and making superficial small talk because it is painfully obvious their mother was not served. There were only 2 tables of people. Ours and the one next to ours that was leaving. My younger daughter asked where my order was. Server once again had to be obnoxious. She acted like I wasn't sure I actually ordered. After checking her notes my order miraculously appeared. Everyone pretty much wanted to leave. I talked them into staying. It's tough to get a mother daughter date with older college students (they are always busy) My younger daughter asked if I wanted one of her sweet treats. I declined. Everyone was pretty unhappy. Server comes and says she overheard our conversation - the chocolate whatever it is called is gluten free. Note she didn't say that earlier. Like I said, she wasn't going to make me feel welcome. Older daughter commented how it wasn't right for that woman to embarrass me more than once for nothing. I am a customer. I am bringing them my hard earned money. There is never an excuse for that type of contentious interaction with a customer. I literally spoke 1 sentence the entire visit and that was to ask if they had anything gluten-free. As much as I love to help small businesses in my community, it stinks to give my hard earned money to terrible people. Our mother daughter date was hijacked and centered around this woman's terrible lack of character and horrible service. She ruined our date. No. Don't spend your time or money here.Go have relaxing tea and conversation where you can focus on one another and not the rudeness of the server. San Francisco has so many places to enjoy tea that is much better than this. I paid $134 for a hard lesson. I really need to get up and leave when people are rude to me. There was no reason for me to bite my tongue and pay for horrible treatment. Lesson learned. I do not recommend. Hard pass.

Yelp
I came here for the afternoon tea service! I highly recommend calling and getting a reservation before coming here because SIP can get full and no longer take walk-ins (the interior is small and there are few tables). The reservations are for 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. The tea service is for 1 hr 45min but the servers will not rush you and are super friendly. My boyfriend and I ordered a tea service for each of us and it came with a refillable tea pot, four sandwiches, two crumpets, sweet desserts, and coleslaw. Everything was good, especially the crumpets which had chocolate chips in them. I did feel that some of the dessert was a bit too sweet for my taste and, paired with the chocolate chips in the crumpets, made the meal pretty sweet in general. Sandwiches we ordered (from favorite to least favorite) 1. Curry chicken - really delicious flavor 2. Smoked salmon cream cheese 3. Egg salad 4. Sun dried tomato - not so good The portions may seem small but they're pretty filling, especially with the unlimited tea. I wish that we were able to try another type of tea with our email but we were only limited to one between two people. Additional tea flavors were $3. Also, the servers do get busy so they are sometimes inattentive if you need a refill or if you have arrived for your reservation. Note that parking can be difficult to find, so make sure to come early if you have a reservation! I was able to find street parking a few blocks away.

Yelp
Definitely grab a reservation here for a cute brunch with friends! The owners definitely know what they're doing, from the intricate teapots to the wide assortment of sandwiches, scones, and teas. I highly recommend the experience, and loved every bite! The sandwiches are delicious, particularly the cucumber and cream cheese ones, and the scones with the lemon and jelly are to die for. Plus, the cute interior really sets the mood. You're missing out!!

Yelp
Had reservations two months in advance, which I highly recommend since this place was packed on a Saturday. My disappointment in this place comes from the bland sandwiches, and the not so hot tea that took forever to get refilled. I get there's only two waitstaff, but if they're that slow maybe they should hire more people. Something about how plain the sandwiches are threw me off. My egg salad sandwich was really chalked full of yolk and needed more mayonnaise or something to make it less dry, same with the curried chicken which was also dry and needed something to make it less bland. The desserts were small and just average. The price however was high compared to what we received. I expected quality sandwiches and excellent service for what they're charging. After all they're sandwiches after all. The sausage roll wasn't that great, and my friend ended up not finishing it. Ironically, the vegetarian one was better. Overall, I don't think Sip lived up to all the great things we've heard about. P.S Parking is difficult in this area so give yourself plenty of extra time if you have a reservation here because they won't seat you until everyone is there.

Yelp
I have been to this spot when it was Secret Garden, however I don't quite remember the previous rendition, but certainly enjoyed its new incarnation. My party and I came to Sip Tea Room to celebrate my birthday; 31 isn't quite as big as 30 or 29 but any birthday deserves a celebration in style. I was lucky to find an opening here since it was the Memorial Day weekend; LoveJoy's and Dandelion's Bloom Chocolate Parlor was booked in full. An email correspondence came shortly after requesting a table of 5 and it was easy as that. The tea room itself is cozy and not too large. Ambiance is simple and clean. The wait staff was welcoming, attentive and fun to engage with. My friends came wearing British headbands, and I wish I had a small top hat to wear as well; perhaps on the next visit. As a party of 5, what to order? We did want to try each other's tea and so we ordered 5 Sip Tea For One; with 5 pots of tea to share and enjoy. We ordered; Sip Tea Room Blend: a classic black tea, very much a traditional English tea blend. Irish Breakfast: this required some time as it sits for optimal flavor. It was dark and brilliant. Darjeeling: a lovely black tea. Mild in flavor but a good black tea. Hibiscus: it's a refreshing contrast from the darker teas we ordered. Light and with a fruit citrus like flavor. Rose Tea: this was my favorite of the black teas our party ordered. The rose flavor was subtle and not overly powered. Sandwiches: Nutella, Chicken Curry, and egg salad were the consensus among our party. Scones: Chocolate Chip & Red Currant. I ordered the red currant; I have to say that the base of the scone was baked perfectly and was so delicious. Unlike other scones I've had, these did not crumble and fall a part. I ordered seconds because they were that good. The classic clotted cream, lemon curd and strawberry preserves came as pairings for the scones. The pastries were delicious as well; lemon like madeleine/mini cake, chocolate (fudge like) tart, cheesecake and fresh fruit. To celebrate my birthday, a thumb print cookie filled with a strawberry jam was brought out on a pedestal complete with a candle. Only towards the end my party and I thought why we didn't order the option with champagne. Well, now there's a reason to come back for tea and champagne.

Yelp
A lovely tearoom in the Sunset. For the second year we did the Christmas tea. Service was quick , first a glass of Persecco then yummy sausage and veggie rolls . Our tea came after that with a tiered tray of tasty finger sandwiches , warm scones with delicious lemon curd and small cakes. Just a wonderful afternoon. We will be back next year.

Yelp
Absolutely adorable tea room with outstanding hospitality for high tea service! Everything was top notch & even though it was busy, I didn't feel rushed & Shannon always found time to check in & chat with everyone. Really lovely experience & look forward to my next visit

Yelp
Super close to the Japanese gardens and botanical gardens. This gem in San Francisco offered a full afternoon tea experience. Started off with choices of different teas. We chose the Blue Malva Flower Earl Grey and Darjeeling. Both were served with some milk. Then came the sausage roll. This was my favorite- crispy, buttery, flakey crust and the sausage was savory and the sauce had a sweet tanginess to it. The last piece to the whole experience were the three tiered plating of items; Tea Sandwiches, scones, and desserts. Our favorite items were the turkey pesto and the biscuits. Make sure you put some of their butter and the preserves. Awesome experience although slightly pricey, would highly recommend.

Yelp
So thankful I was able to find this tea room when shelter in place happened! My friends and I were planning a bachelorette party in the city when right before the weekend hit all restaurants were forced to shut down their indoor and outdoor dining! Luckily we were able to reserve an outdoor space at golden gate park and I stumbled across this cute tea room! I put in an order the night before for a full tea set and the tier paper holder to place the pastries on! Everything was so cute! The sandwiches and pastries came packaged neatly and separately. They had a cute little menu even posted inside the box telling us what was inside! If you buy the deluxe package they even give you a bottle of champagne! They made everything so easy to set up! The crazy thing was everything was ready for pick up right when they had opened! Just be sure to carry the boxes from the bottom and top as a tip because it will break apart! Haha I forgot how much stuff I ordered so my box did fall but because they packaged everything so nicely the sandwiches and pastries were not damaged in the process hahah
