Sir Walter Coffee

Came here on a Saturday morning when looking for somewhere to have coffee and food. Loved the atmosphere. The coffee was really good and the food was delicious too. Would definitely come back maybe even to zone out and get some work done. There were several people working and others there just socially. Indoor and outdoor seating too.

The craftsmanship with the food and drinks at this location cannot be beat. I was visiting the city for the first time and came there 6/6 days I was in Raleigh. I tried a lot of things on the menu, but my favorites were definitely the Old Fashioned, Vietnamese Coffee, or the ginger slap. The food here is small but high quality; I would recommend the southern pimento sammy. The staff, especially Elizabeth/Beck, goes out of their way to ensure what you get is what you want. And if you’re having a hard time choosing, they were extremely helpful and patient. We were there for 1-2 hours at a time and saw various rushes, all of which were handled very efficiently, max wait time appeared to be under 10/15 minutes top. This place appeared to be dog friendly as we saw a plethora of cute dogs. I can’t recommend this place enough and Beck if you’re reading this, keep up the amazing work! I already have friends back home attempting to re create the old fashioned you made us every day!!

One of my favorite coffee shops in Raleigh. I like the vibe, and the espresso martinis are bomb! The staff is also nice. My only complaint is they leave the door open in the dead of winter, so it is far too cold for me to enjoy sitting inside. I'll be back in the summer though.

A solid coffee experience with an edgy feel to the shop. I got here before 8am on a weekday and there was no wait. The staff were friendly and the barista was entertaining, being pleased with his own latte art he took a photo of my drink before setting it on the counter for pick up. The drink was quality and what I would expect from a place like this. They have two sizes (14oz, and 16oz) for dine in espresso beverages which is nice. Plenty of seating but I could see this place filling up on the weekends. It appears to also be a bar but I can speak to that as I just came here for coffee. Worth a stop as well as a revisit the next time I’m in town.

Super friendly staff and great atmosphere! My husband and I did not like the coffee or the latte. We have had these items all over the country so maybe we are hard judges but I could not finish my latte. It looks like there are other great things on the menu to try.

During a delightful Saturday afternoon at the downtown Raleigh food festival, I stumbled upon Sir Walter Coffee Shop. The inviting exterior and option for both indoor and outdoor seating immediately caught my eye. Although I didn't see mocha on the menu, the barista was more than happy to accommodate my request and crafted one for me. Despite the shop being a bit busy, they prepared my coffee within a few minutes. The beautifully crafted latte art on my mocha was impressive, and the taste was just as delightful. The ambiance of the coffee shop was cozy and welcoming, making my visit even more enjoyable. Overall, my experience at Sir Walter Coffee Shop was amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great coffee spot in downtown Raleigh.

This place has grown to be one of my favorite coffee shops in Raleigh! Nice city vibe coffee and cocktail place that’s great for getting a drink and hanging out with friends or reading a book. Always look forward to coming here!

An amazing coffee shop with a relaxing atmosphere, everything from tables, high chairs at the bar, to lounging chairs. They have a large menu, pastries and food, and a menu of coffee cocktails at the bar. I had the chocolate overnight oats that came with fresh berries and an item from their secret. I came back the next morning for an amazing fresh press. The staff are so friendly, and though the place is busy, it's mostly people getting items to go, so it stays quiet. You can easily find a place to sit either outside or away from the door.

We stocked by and we were like : "Hey would you like a coffee???" and here we are drinking these delicious coffees : Iced Baba Yada (Espresso, Rosemary Brown Sugar Syrup) and the Pumpkin King Cold Brew The baristas at Sir Walter are not baristas but artists because of there creations. What talent ! Original rythm with Sir Walter.

I don't understand the high ratings for this place! My coffee (from the seasonal menu) was strangely confusing to the guy who took my order and instead of asking for help I think he just tried to hand me an iced tea and call it a day. After all the rigamarole it was disappointingly blah. My lox bagel sandwich arrived quickly but I'd guess the bagel was microwaved instead of toasted -- it got overwhelmingly chewy and I couldn't even attempt the second half. Three stars because I want to love a locally owned coffee spot but oof.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and wanted to come here for coffee. It was packed and very minimal seating indoors (it was too cold to sit outside). The staff wasn't the friendliest. The Vietnamese coffee is insanely good! The NY bagel was good but I wasn't sure about the cream cheese. It was a little loose for me.

Great space, ambience, coffee and customer service! (They are a park of sip and stroll as well!) I will be back!

I was on a trip to Raleigh in January 2024. My friend and I were in the downtown area. A quick Yelp search and I found Sir Walter Coffee. Pictures on Yelp looked fun; vibe seemed cool. Sir Walter Coffee is known for their "Coffee, Craft, Comfort". Okay - that sounded pretty fun & cool. My friend and I only ordered coffee there as we were headed to a Zumba event afterwards. I had wanted one of their special coffees but they ran out. The cashier helped me select another coffee drink that was similar and voila. Vibe was cool. My friend and I both liked our respective coffee drinks. Good place to chill for a little bit. We were there on a Sunday afternoon - and it was pretty packed. ENJOY!

Coffee: 7/10 - I ordered the banana pudding cold brew & it tasted nothing like a banana. Maybe more syrup but I did taste like a caramel macchiato which never disappoints. Effort for the Banana Pudding Milkshake :10/10 My sister had the breakfast sandwich which she enjoyed. I didn't grab food but I enjoyed the atmosphere. I thought it was cool to have a charging station at each table. Future work space perhaps! Oh, this is a perfect date spot as it caters to everyone.

Came in for breakfast before a conference I was attending. I didn't see where the register was at first, so I tried to order from the bar - it's off to the left when you enter at the end of the bar. I decided to get a chai latte and breakfast burrito without adding meat. Chai latte tasted a bit watered down and not that flavorful. Breakfast burrito was a good size and was topped with crema with sides of guac and salsa. The inside of the burrito had a weird texture, and looking inside I noticed they use chopped up hard boiled eggs - never seen that before and not really a fan. It should be scrambled egg. The dipping sauces were ok, just kind of bland.

Saw this coffee spot from our walk to breakfast and circled back for a cup. I ordered a seasonal latte. It was decent. The wait was a bit long; there's only one cashier at the time we went, although there was plenty of staff. The woman in front of me had a big and complicated order and soon there was a line behind me. Cute interior, but we just grabbed our cup to go.

I was surprised by the size of this coffee place. Modern and clean. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly. I had a latte and my wife had a hot chocolate. They were delicious!! Like The Terminator said: "I'll be back"

Not only is this a yummy drink, but it's gorgeous! Fun atmosphere throughout the day.

I really loved the pumpkin cold brew. I was in town enjoying my last weekend with my husband before his deployment. However, I'm also in a masters program and needed to take an exam. The cold brew was delicious but managed to keep me up after the long day I had. My husband bought some beans to bring back home, and I'm happy he did. I absolutely love the flavor profile and it pairs really well with all my syrups at home.

I was super excited about visiting this new venue. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar to order a round of drinks. Unfortunately the female bartender refused to acknowledge me or speak to me , passed me my drink once it was made, without a word or eye contact. There was no check in, and while I asked to close out my tab at the beginning , I didn't receive my check until we were leaving. They have a very distinct sign that says 20% gratuity for open tabs. Be aware that they try to keep your tab open despite a closed request. A bit disappointed.

Sir Walter Coffee lost a paying customer today. There was a homeless guy who politely asked me to buy him a cinnamon roll. Of course I was going to buy him a cinnamon roll, not like he was asking me for drug money. Lady working at the register said she wouldn't sell me a cinnamon roll if it was for the homeless guy. I can do what ever I want with a cinnamon roll from your establishment if I'm a paying customer.

Great location. Cute decor. Very similar to Starbucks vibe. I ordered an iced imperial with sugar free vanilla and almond milk. Hubby ordered a nitro cold brew. I really didn't care for mine. It had a funny tasting sweetness to it. Hubby liked his. They also sell alcohol and I'm intrigued about some of theirs. I'd like to try one of them if I come again. Maybe even some of their food. I wouldn't order any coffee.

I enjoyed it so much that I forgot to take pictures. The service was amazing and the care in the making of my coffee!!! He took pride in each cup he crafted like an artist and delivered with a smile and conversation that gave me fond memories of watching Norma greetings when he walked into Cheers. You immediately feel like u want to come back bc you're home.

Visiting my daughter at NC State and she wanted to try this place. I'm not a big drinker but she and my wife are. Very quaint place. Warm and welcoming. Many different coffees and lattes to choose from. Ordering is easy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere to hang with friends and drink coffee. Quiet enough for conversations. They also have a light breakfast and lunch menu. Wife got a regular latte. Daughter got a French toast latte. Apparently, both were delicious. Both were served in a real oversized coffee cup with foam art on top. Smells wonderful in here. 2 lattes and 1 jalapeño/cheddar scone was $15. Daughter and wife are happy. What more could a guy want?

The vibe of the coffee shop is cool and a place you can work and enjoy coffee. Where it goes south was the service. I walked up to cash register and the woman just stared at me like "what do you want". No good morning, no hello, not even a smile. I ordered and then waited for about 20 minutes for a latte. I came to Sir Walter Coffey on November 1, 2023. It was my first time as a customer. I had a really good experience getting out of the cold it was very warm inside and the ambiance was cozy. I ordered smoothly with my guest two drinks: Baileys Latte Spiked Espresso Old fashioned Both drinks were very tasty. The Spiked OF was quite smooth and was my personal favorite. I will have to return to Sir Walter Coffee in the future. Cheers!

Great coffee spot in downtown with some food options and alcohol, I love coming here on a weekend. If you're looking for a coffee cocktail, whether spiked or not, this is the place to go. There's indoor and outdoor seating and it always seems busy, lots of people working/studying and just hanging out. City vibe! I've never had a bad cup of coffee here. They also have seasonal menu for coffee drinks, and of course don't miss out happy hour at the bar. Food is nothing special but honestly that's not where you'd expect to have anything wow food wise. I tried a waffle and breakfast burrito and it was good.

A coffee shop with a real downtown vibe. MENU AND STAFF Sir Walter has a good menu with a few hot and cold coffee options to choose from. It also has quite a few drinks from the bar menu. I ordered a hot oat milk latte, and it was great. Baristas a friendly with a great attitude. LOCATION AND PARKING The coffee shop is easy to find, but street parking is a bit limited, so plan ahead. Overall, a pretty cool place to hang out and do some work.

Delicious light roast pour over but rude service behind the counter... . There's a clean restroom but you'll have to ask for the key. I do like the thickness of the toilet paper weird comment I know but I do appreciate that a lot! They also sell day old pastries for 25% off which is cool to see because some stores will just still sell day old and not even say anything. I like the transparency of this place but wish customer service was just a tad friendlier.

The employees were extremely kind and had big smiles on their faces. The 3 stars is for the size and quality of the coffee you get for the price. This very small coffee cost me almost $8 and tasted absolutely nothing like lavender. The recipe may need some TLC. But the environment & set up of the coffee shop is great, I could definitely see it as a spot for people to go who WFH some days. There's lots of tables & space.

I came here and tried a flower child latte (summer special) with almond milk, and it was so good! They had many latte flavors to choose from, and I was a bit frazzled from a chaotic day so I just had the baristas recommend me a flavor. They were all very nice and quick to make my drink. It was $8.40 for a 16oz iced special latte with almond milk... kinda expensive to me, but it was still great. I just won't be able to become a regular lol!

Went for an early morning coffee and breakfast with my husband. We ordered: 1 - large drip coffee 2 - Sir Walter Iced Coffee 3 - Avo toast 4 - breakfast burrito The coffees were perfect, good smell, and very mellow taste. If I come back, I am ordering the iced coffee - it was really good. The perfect amount of sweet and caffeine. The avocado toast looked good, good mash on the avo. The breakfast burrito was good, eggs were a tad over cooked but who cares when you have cheddar cheese, right? Really nice spot downtown, baristas are friendly. Lots of seating and clean bathrooms. Small gig on over cooked eggs - but it happens!

Food was yummy. Drinks were great. I went to go grab a bite and get some work done. WiFi was good. Service was kinda slow and odd. I sat at the bar, ordered a coffee and a drink and then when I finally got someone's attention to ask to order food they told me I had to go stand in line to order. So I had to ask the person across from me to watch my laptop and things so I could go order. My food came out pretty quickly and was very tasty. But then, in order to pay my tab, I had to pack up my things and then go stand, again, in a line of about 8-10 people just to pay. It was just a very odd set up. But the staff was friendly, the food was good and reasonably priced and the drinks were lovely.

When it comes to espresso martinis, nothing beats Sir Walter Coffee! Tonight we stopped in after meeting friends for dinner. The baristas, Caroline and Megan, were swamped, working extremely hard to take care of the patrons inside and outside. It was a lot for 2 people, and they made it look easy! Not only were our drinks delicious, but they took such amazing care of every person that came in. You can't go wrong with Sir Walter!

Love this place. Been twice and both coffee drinks were excellent. The Walter Raleigh is my absolute favorite!

My oh my, I can't say enough about this place. Sir Walter is by far one of my favorite coffee places in Raleigh because of its location and the atmosphere. The outdoor area is adorable, especially in the summertime. They have a good amount of seating, the staff is so nice and are always willing to recommend something, which I love. I always get a matcha latte and it never fails me. They have really good seasonal drinks too. In the fall, sometimes they have a sweet potato latte and I highly recommend it!

My favorite place in raleigh to get coffee/tea and do some work. They have a couple really nice booths with plenty of space as well as high tops and comfy chairs with tables/space to place your laptop/books. They also serve alcohol and some really good cocktails, as well as tasty bakery items. Staff is always incredibly friendly and accommodating!

Chai latte & coffee were both good. Eggs on the egg sandwiches looked microwaved -- was expecting a fresher looking BEC, but it was fine. Good seating and location.

We were in town for a concert and the Air B and B we rented recommended this place for coffee. It is downtown so parking is not easy. It's a cool place with a great vibe. Everyone who works there was very pleasant. The drink carrier that we had two iced coffees in, broke and of course the drinks went everywhere. The barista had two more made before the spill was even cleaned up. No attitude at all from her or the woman who cleaned it up (we tried to help and she wouldn't let us). The bagel I got with cream cheese was toasted perfectly, and the bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese was delicious! The coffee was absolutely perfect !

I placed an online order for a large event at my daughter's high school, lots of coffee was required! The order was ready and waiting for us at the exact pickup time. It was packed up perfectly with plenty of cups, lids, sweeteners, stirrers, and half and half. Thanks for helping fuel a long day for a lot of people!

The Espresso martini at sir Walter coffee is so perfect! It's the perfect location to read, catch up on work, or just chat with friends.

This was a great find for coffee but would have loved to come by in the afternoon for a few of the adult beverages and full bar options they have. Staff were incredibly nice, the place was very clean and had a nice set-up for seating and decor. We bought several variations of coffee's dare I even try the recall all of the names. For me, I went with the traditional latte that was very good. We came here 2 days in a row and the only thing I would change would to order the latte extra hot as it was not that hot when I received it.

The coffee shop I've been looking for in Raleigh. Great service. Had an amazing honey lavender iced coffee. Worked on my laptop. And then 2 incredible live singers came and sang beautifully. The music was at the level where I could still work and talk with my husband. I love that the shop is open late because I am a night owl and love working in the evening. Definitely will return

Cute spot! Not a huge coffee drinker so I stopped by for some avocado toast (added egg to it) and it was good! Nothing too special but good! Just wish I had some hot sauce with me

Hat-Trick! It's hard to imagine a place where the coffee, the food AND the service are all terrible. We tried the red velvet latte because it was on the specials board and also had the chicken salad. The chicken salad had such a bad aftertaste that it was not edible. The latte was equally terrible and had a chalky taste. The latte and chicken salad joined one another in the trashcan. We also ordered a Bagel, which was edible, but we waited over 30 minutes for them to make the BLT bagel !!!

I've been to Sir Walter multiple times, and have always left feeling a little eh about it. Yesterday I decided to go again, since I know they have a big menu of fall drinks and I was in the mood for something fall. I won't be coming back. Yesterday, I decided on an iced graham cracker latte. When I tasted the drink I could tell it was made with a non-dairy milk. I was confused because I didn't order a different kind of milk, and I don't like any non-dairy milk. I went back to look at the menu to see if I misread the drink and if it said it came with oat milk. The 3 people working noticed and asked if I needed something. I asked what kind of milk was the drink, they said the graham cracker latte has oat milk. I replied "oh the menu doesn't say that, and I don't drink oat milk". The barista said "yeah it doesn't say....do you want us to make you something else". I said yes, and asked for a pumpkin latte. While I was waiting for the new drink, 2 of the workers separately offered to throw out the old drink. I replied both times that I was going to see if my husband (who was waiting in the car) wanted the drink. They both looked at me strangely, as if I was wrong to see if someone wanted the drink I paid $6 for instead of handing it to them to throw out. I don't know if they thought I was trying to get a free drink, but it made me uncomfortable. Sir Walter is not a bad place, but I've found other coffee shops nearby that offer a consistently higher quality coffee.

Cute little area of town. A cross between cafe and cocktails and workspace. Very nice vibe - lots of different seating and unique brews and drink menu. The fall options were not cliche and quite delicious!

Sir Walter Coffee is a great spot for coffee on a rainy day, meeting up with friends, or getting work done. When I visited on a Saturday morning, this place was filled with a wide variety of customers with a laid back, hip vibe. There are several seating options including outdoors. I ordered a vanilla latte and was hoping it would come in a mug with a cute design, but it still tasted great in a to go cup! I also got the avocado toast with fried egg and fruit cup. The avocado was prepared with everything bagel seasoning (my favorite) and tasted filling. One thing to note is that there is mostly only street or garage parking in the area. Overall, Sir Walter Coffee's prices are moderate, service is quick, quality is good, and vibe is pleasant!

The breakfast bagel was delicious, but the coffee was a bit underwhelming. I got the coffee imperial and it was practically 1/2 ice and whipped cream and 1/2 coffee/oat milk. For $7 I was expecting a bit more!

Probably one of the best names for a coffee joint that I've seen lately and for that reason, it was going to be a definite spot on my rotation of coffee in downtown Raleigh. As well, this is a great little spot with lots of space for working, face-to-face meetings and getting laptop stuff done. I had a cortado this morning and the young lady made it perfectly. This is my favorite urban coffee place! I have loved them for years. Awesome coffee, great vibe, even better service. Rachel from Virginia was so helpful. We've moved away from Raleigh but are back for work. I'll be here every day! PS went back again - of course! Had the gluten-free pumpkin cheesecake - Yumm! You will never regret a trip to Sir Walter!

Sitting here enjoying my day as I work on homework and watch the people past by. I was warmly greeted and greeted multiple times by the staff. Everyone was super friendly and the environment was super chill. I loved how the music just kept me so upbeat and relaxed--I literally could've stayed there all day and felt right at home. I got their ___ tea and loved how refreshing, light, and flavorful it was. I needed a little caffeine boost and this did it for me. After a while I got hungry, so I got their Turkey, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. It was just so yummy and the chipotle sauce just made it even better. It came with a side of strawberries that were super fresh! I really hope that I make it back to Raleigh soon as this would become my second home!
