"Sivar Treats is not your grandma’s Salvadoran restaurant. Owners Andrea Castillo and Ronald Caceres Jr. take liberties with the menu and aren’t afraid to serve some of the more unique items in the Salvadoran food scene. Standout dishes include the milhojas (a flaky puff pastry layered with sweet custard), the bacon-wrapped Salvi street hot dogs, and the Buenos Aires pupusa filled with Argentinian-style chorizo, cheese, and chimichurri." - Eric Valle

Extraordinary Central American Food! Where do I start? I’m a bit of a foodie and a huge fan of Mexican and Asian food. Now, I’m a huge fan of Salvadoran/Central American food. I’ll start by saying that this restaurant is very unassuming from the exterior, aside from a cool mural on its side wall. Once you open the door, you’re immediately greeted by a wonderful, familiar aroma and a colorful visual of aguas behind the counter. You order from the counter, the food selection is what you’d expect, but with some creative twists. The real test, however, is once your food is bright to the table. Amazing presentation hints at something delicious…and it does not disappoint! I ordered a carne asada plate, and it came with a couple pieces of chorizo, delicious beans, avocado, salad, and delicious hand made “tortillas.” I ordered popusas for my daughters, and aguas for us all. The curtido was delicious—the flavor needs to be experienced to be believed—simply amazing! The service was fantastic, the atmosphere cozy, and it was just a fantastic experience. I’ve added this place to my favorites.

This restaurant is an amazing little gem in Whittier. Everything was cooked fresh and the Horchata was delicious.

Lucero Rubio

Google
Customer service is excellent! Everyone is very friendly and accommodating! The food was amazing! Taste 5 stars It does take a while to get your food, but the deliciousness compensates for the time waited!

Liz Rodriguez

Google
We had the ensalada and fresco de maracuya both taste like back home The pupusas were delicious as well my only complain is the curtido, it had WAY TOO MUCH oregano to the point where your throw would burn! Besides that service us fast and food is good

Brandi

Google
First impression: Friendly location to enjoy food at. The food was alright; the mango drink tasted as if it was over sweetened, platanos were good, but the pupusas lacked flavor so you have to keep adding on the sauce. The total for these three items came out to almost $17…. Prices on food is going way up, but places like this should keep up the quality of food if their prices are high.

I am so excited to see a small business that I love be a success! I been following them for a while now and let me just tell you the food is delicious. My favorite is the cheese pupusa and the revuelta with Been cheese and pork what a delightful combo!! don’t forget to pair it with a delicious mango or watermelon drink. The service here so excellent, the quality of food is great and they will Make sure they go out of their way to make you feel at home. Great jobs and congratulations on your new permanent home!

Google
Food and service was here was pretty good, the pupusas were cheesy and filled. The tamal was soft and flavorful. Unfortunately the horchata was overly sweet.

Rafael Escobar

Google
Neat new spot. The employees are very welcoming and attentive during our entire visit. They have your classic pupusas, and are extra daring with new "fusion"/experimental pupusas. Like a Hawaiian pupusa, a Argentina pupusas, etc. It's a little on the pricey side for a pupusa, especially compared to other pupuserias in Whittier. But the quality of ingredients set it apart. Other places tend to put more cheese than chicharrón. Here's you can actually see the pieces of pork. And they aren't super greasy. I know some people like them greasy, but I don't. They do serve platanos and yucca fries, but that's about it for Salvadorean cuisine. They have hamburgers too, which I wanna try.

Yelp
If you are new to this and it's your first time, you gotta blow and pull apart that PUPUSA because it's hella HOT and fresh off the stove ! Where are we? SIVAR TREATS | El Salvadorian Food 14103 Lambert Rd, Whittier, CA 90605 @sivartreats specializes in pupusas and all things El Salvadorian and Latin favorites. Once you walk into this cozy spot, you will be overwhelmed with so many things to pick from. This spot has traditional pupusas stuffed with cheese & pork but also have some delicious creative ones like the Roma which is stuffed with pesto & cheese or the American filled with pineapple & ham. For the first time, I enjoyed what Carlos (@thenostalgiclatino ) enjoyed as a lil one, Fried Plantains, Beans. Sour Cream & Cheese. We also bumped into @californiography who lives down the street. Carlos and I had an amazing time catching up and enjoying lots of delicious pupusas ! I forgot to take photos of the delicious cabbage slaw and salsa that you typically eat with a pupusa. Overall there is no wrong way to eat a pupusa just as long it gets into your mouth. FYI: Fresh pupusas are a labor of love!!! It will always take more than 15-20 mins. If you order a pupusa and it is served to you in less than 5 mins, it's not a fresh one. Be patient! Visual Review: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9klxSoPSmU/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Yelp
Food: Beans Pupusa and Beans with Mushrooms Pupusa Sometimes to really enjoy something good you need to strip it down to its most basic form. The Beans pupusa was solid, tasted amazing, and was the perfect vessel for the curtido and sauce. The one with beans and mushrooms was very good as well, but something about the basic beans pupusa took me to heaven. Restaurant: Make sure you park on the street, as the small lot is very very small. Inside there about 6ish tables, but do not let that deter you! Many people were taking orders to go, that might be a good move as Pupusas could make for a nice "at the park" kind of meal. Notes: Support this small business!

March G.

Yelp
Some of the best pupusas I've had in a while, they were perfect and the passion fruit with pineapple agua was amazing, I will definitely be coming back and bringing my relatives with me

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Food is absolutely delicious! Tried pupusas, tamal de puerco, carne típica plate and maracuya with piña and I gotta say everything was soo good! The place is really cute and clean. Looks like it's family owned and they take care of it themselves. I totally recommend it! Please make sure to give them business so they can stay open for a long time and I can keep eating this delicious food!!

Yelp
After recently switching jobs and working in a new area I was on a constant search for new eateries. In my search for new restaurants, Sivar Treats was found and I was excited to try their large array of pupusas and they did not disappoint. The options and flavors of the pupusas on the menu are plentiful and all that I have tried have been excellent and filling. In my visits to this point I have tried the chicken and cheese, bean and cheese, jalapeno and cheese, garlic and cheese& zucchini and cheese options and each has been delicious in its own right. The chicken and cheese is definitely my go to option and has plenty of chicken and boasts tremendous flavor. The pricing here is also quite good at around $4 per flavor and the online ordering system works well and has been seamless for me. The only downside here is the lack of parking (a couple spots on the side or curb parking on Whittier Blvd) and the hit or miss service. The girl who works the front is friendly and always ensures I have what I need when I leave but the guy during my last two pickups has zero personality and when you ask for your order just stares at you before flinging a back in your direction on the counter without so much as even a thank you. This is definitely something that should be addressed as it can be a deterrent for me when visiting. Overall for the pricing, the menu and the quality provided this is a solid 4 star establishment. Do be on the lookout when stopping by as the place is quite small and is easily passed if you didn't know where it is located.

Damian S.

Yelp
Favorite pupusas in Whittier! Had the BUENO ARIES ( cheese chorizo chimichurri) , so bomb and different definitely a repeat order, and two REVUELTA ( pork bean cheese) they're all delicious. I think Sivar treats counts as a little hole in the wall, small from the outside but, once you walk in it's really pretty on the inside and staff always helps with options and friendly.

Mari V.

Yelp
First time here! My friend and I saw @soysabillon IG story about this place. Food looked delicious so we decided to try it. Im literally 6 minutes away! LOCATION: The place is small and can be missed. The parking lot is to the side of it but its very tiny. I think only 6 cars fit but thats okay! You can also park on the street! ATMOSPHERE: The inside is adorable. The decore is welcoming. Its not your standard hole in the wall that is plain. It actually has personality and that was definitely appreciated. There are a few tables inside. Enough to sit a good group of ppl but not too many. EMPLOYEES: The girl that was there when we walked in at 10am greeted us immediately and she was so kind. The girl that brought us our food was sooo nice as well. FOOD: * PUPUSAS: I have been to some places that sell pupusas but they are dry or not enough flavor. Well, let me tell you THESE PUPUSAS WERE DELICIOUS! HOT off the grill, soft, extremely cheesy! I tried the Jalapeño and cheese ones. SO GOOD! I had to order more to take home. Pupusas are like $3.99 and $4.49 (depending which ones you get) * They have vegetarian pupusas and pupusas i had never heard of like the jalapeno and cheese * CHICHARRON plate: We got the 1/2 lb. The chicharron was perfect! Not to hard where you almost break your teeth, not chewy where your jaw hurts from chewing so much lol They were like carnitas but crunchy. Sooo good! The tortillas w/cheese were also good. *CHILI: The red chili they bring in a tiny plastic container is SPICY Its sooo good i asked for more My friend got a breakfast plate which she loved and she loved the agua fresca she got. Overall experience was amazing. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be coming back.

Raul A.

Yelp
Came here for the pupusas, and there is definitely a lot to pick from! The cheese is key, and it was on point! I had an Asada pupusa which is different than your usual add ons but it was great! They had international pupusas, so different add ins in the pupusa from that particular country which is a great idea! We'll definitely be coming back to try their full on breakfast plate. Great customer service as well.

Janae L.

Yelp
Such great service and even better food! I'm very picky when it comes too pupusas and this place has by far exceeded my expectations! They were absolutely delicious and fresh, the curtido as well was one of the best I've ever tasted :) the ambience of this place was amazing! such a cute hole in the wall and decorated so cute. Can't wait too go back

Erica R.

Yelp
Was recommended here by a neighbor, and I am so glad she did. We have been looking for a pupusa place for quite some time, and we found it! From the food to the customer service, everything was great. The only complaint is the parking. We will definitely be coming here more often.

Natalie A.

Yelp
Amazing food! Amazing service I've only had their bean and cheese pupusas but I literally crave them every day! The salsa is delicious and the cabbage side that they place on top of the pupusa is just to die for!

Anna H.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my friend's birthday as we were craving pupusas. Everyone tried the Revuelta along with the Lorroco and they were delicious. Each is $3.75 a la carte and there are 18 flavors to choose from. My friends also ordered the breakfast that comes with a side tortilla and the other order the gallina which comes with a big bowl of soup. Everyone enjoyed the food. Although the place is small, it's cozy and good for small groups. Their private lot to park is small but there is free street parking outside. Please note that they have a big sign out that says Pupusas rather than Sivar Treats. Wait staff are friendly, will help take pictures for you if you ask and they even offered to take a picture of us which went up on their wall! If you are in the area and craving Pupusas, stop by here!

Haili A.

Yelp
So happy to be a Whittier local because there are so many foodie spots I have yet to discover, this is an authentic Salvadoran Pupusa place that i finally checked off my list. They have so many different meat and veggie options and I thought the prices were so cheap! Everything was yummy and I will be back soon! Place is pretty big and it was busy!

Kim G.

Yelp
Came here on a suggestion from a friend. Ordered one chicharron and cheese pupusa, and a chicken tamale, as well as an agua de tamarindo. Pupusa was good, and the chicken tamale was ok. Nothing to OMG about. The agua was good, but a little too sweet. My friend ordered one of there ham mushroom and cheese pupusas but stated it was little salty. Here drink, Horchata, was a bit to sweet as well. Now the desserts were really good. I didnt enjoy the not overly sweet flan. It wasnt as creamy as my friend would like, but for me, it was perfect. We also tried there bread pudding which was good as well.

Seth E.

Yelp
If you're looking for pupusas, this is a great spot to get them! The interior is pretty small, but it's very clean. There are neon signs as well as other floral/greenery decor. We placed our order for some pupusas for all of us. I ordered two pork, bean, and cheese pupusas which were delicious. They give you hot sauce and other condiments to place on them which definitely add to the flavor. The level of heat was really good, considering that I have a generally high spice tolerance. The service was great, as they were very polite to us and felt very amiable.

R. A.

Yelp
Great food, recipes are on point, service is horrible. 20mins for 2 pupusas. The first time I came the beans were burnt but I came back hoping they'd do better. So this time I passed on the beans, that's where the 20 minutes clocked in. I updated my review to 5 stars after visiting 3 other Pupusa shops and they all take 20 mins. All normal.

Domenic M.

Yelp
They have really good food the people who work here are nice it's nice and clean here the beat pupusas in town yall love there food here 10 stars

Eye A.

Yelp
The best pupusas we've had in the area! Quint little spot but it packs a ton of flavor. I had the Chiccharon and the Birria. Both were so good! I'm making it a point to come back again next week to try some more. Also, their passionfruit pineapple drink is amazing. Do not leave without trying this! A friendly group of people with such awesome food. What more do you need?

Haydee A.

Yelp
My husband and I found this place on Instagram and we were not disappointed. I come from a Salvadorian family, and my grandmother had her own pupuseria. The food here tastes authentic! The staff is friendly, and it's a such a cute place. It was worth the drive from OC to us. I'd recommend!

Pee G.

Yelp
Always a treat here with my friends at Sivar Treats. Simply the best food, service by the owners, and ambiance, since Great music always playing. Clean spot. Y'all missing out on this hidden gem. Aunthentic salvadoran food.

Maria U.

Yelp
Food is delicious... Andrea was super helpful, nice, and very informative (our first time there) Definitely will go again

Jason L.

Yelp
This is the best Salvadoran spot I've tried outside of LA and it can hold its own against my fav LA spots. Great service. Quaint space. Solid options. Craving it now actually...

bella l.

Yelp
The food was delicious! My friends and I went a couple of times. The service was great. We tried the pupusas, platanos, milhojas and drinks. Unfortunately the last time we ordered pupusas to go, there was a paper towel inside of one of the pupusas. We haven't been back since. I know mistakes happen, so I wouldn't discourage you from trying it.

Zoë G.

Yelp
So, the service was pretty quick and we would've had no trouble getting a table, but it was near closing time so they only had take-out. That's not really anything to complain about, but im not writing this to complain. The food was amazing!! If you like pupusas, then this place is perfect for you. The workers were super nice and helpful. And the restaurant was in a beautiful area with lots of plants that are super green and healthy. Oh, and also, if you don't like pupusas, then they have some other good options, like tamales, horchata, watermelon and strawberry juice, and budín( a bread pudding). So, that's pretty much all I have to say. Hope you like Sivar Treats!

Hala Hana C.

Yelp
We were in the area and I just Yelped this place out of pure curiosity and put trust in my fellow Yelp community and went in to try a few pieces for lunch. It was a very nice small place. We ordered the vegan pupusa, which was vegan and mushroom, vegan and zucchini and one cheese and jalapeño. French fries, vegan tamales and agua Fresca cucumber & lime. Everything tasted so so so good! The sauce and the cabbage slaw was just perfect texture in one bite! Everythinf felt & tasted homemade like a loving grandma/mother made it in the back. We were told birria fries are really good here! Def excited to come here next time!

Genesis P.

Yelp
Such delicious food!! Love coming here!! The only complaint is how they do not fill-up the drinks all the way to the top. It looks like someone took a sip from your drink. Other than that it is a great place to get food from.

Maya C.

Yelp
Okay the only reason I'm rating it a 4 out of 5 is because the dessert wasn't that good. The churros didn't have cinnamon which defeats the purpose of churros lol. And the empanadas were a little watered down in flavor. But other than that the main course of the meal was really good!! I even forgot to take a picture of the puposas lol. The WERE SO GOOD! I definitely recommend this place! The drinks were really delicious too! And the place was super clean too! Even the air vents were cleaned to I'm really happy to see that lol.

Ismael C.

Yelp
Sivar Treats in Whittier is a fantastic spot for delicious pupusas! They are a perfect size and bursting with flavor. The horchata is on point, complementing the meal beautifully. The restaurant is clean, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere, and the service is good, making for a great overall experience. This is one of the few Salvadoran places I would highly recommend in LA County. If you're craving authentic Salvadoran cuisine, Sivar Treats is definitely worth a visit.

Monica R.

Yelp
Got three pupusa two revueltas and one de chorizo. They were both really good and packed with cheese and meat. However, they're a bit stingy with the curtido. I got this tiny bag for three pupusas. And since I had it delivered, I couldn't go back for more. But overall the flavor is good.

Grace C.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant! Very nice service and the food is delicious. I tried their cheese and bean pupusa with their breakfast plate. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

Melissa R.

Yelp
got several options of pupusas they were all tasty and came with lots of cabbage on the side

Francesca L.

Yelp
A dear old friend was visiting LA for a wedding and staying in Long Beach. Since it's not close to me in Alhambra we decided to meet halfway, but I'm not very familiar with what's available for a group of 7 and there needed to be gluten free options. I decided to focus on either Vietnamese or Latin American cuisines since they tend to be rice or corn-based. I sent some options over and they chose Sivar Treats since they never had Salvadoran food. I grew up with close family friends from El Salvador so I love the food and pupusas are a fun way to introduce folks to the cuisine. I actually called the restaurant a couple of times to make sure they only use corn masa and if they could seat a large group and both times they were prompt and cordial on the phone. So rare nowadays since it seems like many places don't even have phones! The pupusas and quesadillas were freshly made and delicious! The staff/Family? working was very nice and patient cuz we kept ordering more and more! The table salsa is nice and tomatoey, a little sweet too. They also have another two salsas - green and a red salsa that was served with the quesadillas that has a spicy kick! Curtido was not too sour, but lots of good herb flavor. The place is not big, but if you go early-ish you can probably push some tables together. The parking lot patio you may see in photos is not available any longer. There is a deli case with desserts and cheeses as well, we were able to share some macarons - another gluten free option! Wish Sivar Treats wasn't so far, I'd love to visit again.

Terry G.

Yelp
I love this place and have been going to them since they were street vendors. I'm not sure if they have new rules or what but today we ordered 16 pupusas, do the math over $60 and that's our usual monthly order but our order tonight was $97 which included a tip. I love curtido (although I wish theres was more pickled & more moisture) and salsa with our pupusas so I always ask for xtra but tonight they want to charge me $5 buks more??? If I ate there would I be charged?? When we eat there they give us xtra, no issue so whats the difference? These are the type of things that keep me from revisiting places like this. We ghe community have contributed to your success and this employee is acting like xtras are going to break you? EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED.

Jessica A.

Yelp
I've been craving pupusas for some time and was willing to drive as long as they were worth it. The location is unsuspecting from the outside. You'll see a sign that says pupusas and 'masataco' which I guess was the old location. The hubby and I came in tonight ready to eat. The interior of the restaurant was cute and cozy. Nice music playing low in the background. The menu has a great selection of pupusas we settles on some revueltas, cheese and jalapeño, cheese and garlic, and the Buenos Aires. The pupusas were huge I couldn't finish 2! The curtido was fresh and delicious they had hot salsa which was super spicy and a mild one which was more to my liking. I'm used to the pork being ground but it appeared pulled in the revuelta. The cheese and jalapeño was my favorite and my husband said the cheese and garlic was delicious and full of chunks of garlic. I ordered a pineapple and spinach aqua fresca (it was an unsweetened one) and it was perfect. Super refreshing. My husband got the jarrito agua fresca which was 5 bucks more but came with tajin, chamoy, and gummy bears. Not worth the expensive price tag in my personal opinion. You can tell they make it fresh to order we heard them making the pupusas away in the kitchen. Our order took just over 20 mins. Saw a lot of families picking up phone orders. Also the employees were super friendly. I would def come back for more.

Belen G.

Yelp
First time I came was cool but the second time the waiter was rude. She definitely hated her job and was spiteful. I won't be back ever again. They should really hire people that are at least friendly. She had a mad face on the whole time and was slamming the freezer door open and close. How horrible why would anyone want to come back here ever again after that service.

Kacy C.

Yelp
First time here and I came here because of how highly rated it is. And it is definitely worth 5 stars. We ordered five pupusa's one chicken cheese and garlic, two cheese & cilantro, one Mexicano spicy. All were amazing & I can't wait to go back and try more! Service was great, curtido was perfect, & spicy salsa was delicious.

mia k.

Yelp
This place is small and doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you! Inside is small, but very cute; neon signs, industrial set up and greenery make for some Instagram worthy pics. You place your order at the counter where the menus are displayed on 3 TVs and grab a seat. They have plenty of options for food and maybe 4-5 options of agua frescas which are delicious! If you can't decide what to have, get two. We got the ensalada and passion fruit, I'll be getting the same ones next time for sure, just wish I'd have gotten the large so it would have lasted me on the drive home too. The food came out fairly quickly, and was hot and fresh. You can hear them making the pupusas in the kitchen. I got a spinach and cheese and mushroom bean with cheese. Both were good, but the spinach one was my favorite. I'll definitely be getting that one again when I come back. We walked in with two other couples in the restaurant, by the time we finished eating and left there was a wait with quite a few people outside. You know it's a good spot when there's a wait. I'll be returning again for sure.

Felipe G.

Yelp
Wow! The best pupusas I've ever had. I'm so mad i didn't try more of the menu. I came in to grab a quick bite before an appointment. I decided on the chicharrón and queso + revuelto pupusas. Dang (insert drool emoji) The wait wasn't long at all. I'd say 5-7 minutes. I would wait 30 minutes, maybe even an hour for these bad boys. They were made fresh and came out nice and warm. Super friendly staff. Ambiance was nice. Clean and inviting decor. I will most certainly be coming back to try more of the menu.

Julia A.

Yelp
Came across this spot while scrolling on Yelp, Sivar Treats in Whittier. Took our food to go, and it was delicious!!!!! I plan to come back :)

Riviana G.

Yelp
Food was amazing! The best pupusas hands down! My husband loved the yucca and chicharron and we will definitely be coming back

Jasmyn H.

Yelp
This review is based on my first impression on both their food and their mobile-order services. I placed my order online for pickup through postmates and they had a lot of different items to choose from and was quick as well considering how many I ordered. Customer service is 10/10 would def recommend to anyone looking for bomb Pupusas in the Whittier area!!

Tatiana V.

Yelp
Customer service was 10/10 and the food was even better . Super delicious and huge pupusas . A lot of places are cheap with their fillings and they're definitely not .

Denise M.

Yelp
Sooo good I recommend coming here 10/10 My favorite pupusa is the cheese and jalapeño

Katelyn R.

Yelp
Just an OK spot for papusas. I got the jalapeño & cheese, and mushroom and cheese. The filling was barely there but the masa was definitely the more filling part than anything. Super thick with no flavor. Disappointing. The curtido was delicious and hot sauce but unfortunately the papusas themselves were really just OK. My boyfriend got the burger lettuce wrapped and said it was greasy, the fries were soggy, and his loroco and cheese papusa was just alright. The flavor of the masa just tasted like flour honestly. Also got the horchata and from the reviews I decided to get a large. Barely drank 1/3rd if it. The flavor was good but it was so thick. Glad I tried it but I should've skipped over this place honestly

Alejandra M.

Yelp
My husband and I recently moved to the area and we wanted to try a restaurant in person. I've eaten authentic Salvadoran food before multiple times, so I was excited to try this place. This restaurant exceeded my expectations! Everything was made fresh and packed with flavor. The service was great and the staff were kind. The food is reasonably priced and decent portion sizes. Also the ambience was great. They played good music. We wi definitely be returning soon.

Lauren B.

Yelp
If you haven't had pupusas in awhile or ever, you need to get your booty over here. Inside has a cute vibe with plenty of seating. They also have some outdoor seats in the parking lot as well. Pupusas are $3.75 to $4.25. They're decently sized. I ordered two and I could've done with 1.5 and taken the rest home. But...it was so tasty and I ate both of them. I ordered the Revuelta, Buenos Aires , and an Horchata. Didn't even touch the horchata besides the initial tasting sip because I couldn't stop eating. The pupusas come with a tomato sauce and pickled veggie coleslaw side thing. No surprise, but ate the pickled veggies and added a lot of the red sauce. Everything paired so well together. Service is great. You order at the counter and they'll bring your food out. Everything is made to order so there will be a wait. There were two other parties in front me and I waited 20 min for my food. It was worth it. The woman at the counter checked on everyone and each party had the same reaction as mine. Food here is bomb and hits the spot.

Morena L.

Yelp
To remember my beautiful El Salvador I decided to order "Tamales de Gallina y Sopa de Gallina" from Sivar Treats! The freshness and delicious traditional home made flavors took me back to my pulgarcito de America. Don't fly back to El Salvador! Just eat or order from Sivar Treats! A salvadorean experience worth the drive and economical price! Loved it!!

Angel F.

Yelp
The Pupusas are Great! The look of this place is really cool! Service was great! Enjoy the food from my country!

We drove 30min for this place. First time here and omg everything was on point. Yucca was so clean and crisp! Pupusa hit so well! Services and staff was incredible. Dinning area was a little dark but they turned the lights on later. So cute !
