SiYuan - Review - Duomo - Milan - The Infatuation

"SiYuan is just a few steps south of Piazza Duomo, tucked among a growing cluster of non-Italian restaurants. There are a handful of tables and simple counter seating inside, where you can watch them pull Lanzhou-style noodles right in front of you. Portions are generous, prices are friendly, and you can choose your desired noodle thickness (we like medium). Go for the brothy noodles, vinegary celery salad with yuba, the umami-forward baked lamb bun, and the beef tripe in chili oil—all washed down with a cold Tibetan milk tea." - Elizabeth De Filippo-Jones

Food is amazing, the restaurant seems a little dated, but that means it's been around for quite a while. The quality of food is amazing, being someone from the Northeast region, the noodles tastes very authentic, and good price too.

We were so glad to have found this restaurant near the Duomo. The noodles, seasoned beef, and broth were incredibly authentic. I only wish my city in the U.S.—despite its large Chinese population—had a place that serves beef noodle soup this good. The other dishes were excellent as well. I’d stay an extra day in Milan just for these noodles!

Amazing!! Traditional Chinese lamb noodle soup! Even got traditional drinks. Really authentic food and big portions, very friendly staff. Super tasty! Deff. Recommend

One of the best meals we had in Milan, the noodles are chewy and take up the flavor of the soup, which in itself is delicious and spicy. We went on a Monday evening so the place wasn't too busy. It's well worth it if you're looking to change up from the usual traditional Italian.

The braised beef noodles disappointed: the broth was bland, noodles soggy, and larger beef pieces had off-putting odors, though smaller pieces were fine. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot, and the washroom, located in the basement, was inconvenient due to a slow elevator. No cover charge, a rare plus in Italy.

A few steps from the Duomo in Milan we find Siyuan Beef Noodles: a “real” Lanzhou restaurant, with north-western Chinese cuisine from the Gansu and Xi'an regions. The location is intimate and reminds (for those who have visited it) of restaurants in China. As soon as we enter we find a counter that looks through a glass window into the kitchen. Its specialty is Chinese beef noodles from Lanzhou as well as classic dishes and I would add “ancient” Chinese dishes from the north-west of the country. The service is fast and punctual. The mise en place is very simple. The most satisfying part is the dishes themselves, which literally won me over with their particular taste! We chose two of their fresh salads: “celery and juba” and “cucumbers”. Then we had a “meat skewer trio” (pork, lamb and beef) accompanied by spicy Lanzhou potatoes. All very tasty! Prices are a little high but worth it! I will definitely be back!

Authentic Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles. Delicious huge portions to make a cold night belly warm. Food may be slightly spicy. Prices range from 13.50€ to around 19.50€. Ordered the Pu Yi braised lamb noodles, Xi'an Pao Mao (vermicelli noodles in lamb broth) and the Lanzhou beef noodles. All great!
