Where to Grab Pizza by the Slice in and Around Portland

"It wouldn’t feel right to ignore Portland’s metalhead-friendly, by-the-slice destination; way back in 2011, it served some of the wildest slices in town, including some strong vegan pies. Any day of the week, diners can stroll up to order slices like the garlicky pepperoni-jalapeño number known as Napalm Breath, or the Briehemoth layered with apple slices, brie dollops, and caramelized onion. There are Sizzle Pie locations across town, and it also supplies the Hollywood Theatre with slices from a window inside the lobby." - Nathan Williams

Portland restaurants with locations in other cities - Eater Portland

"The pizzeria that embodies Portland by offering toppings like pepperoni, nutritional yeast, tofu cheese, and an optional vegan ranch pentagram drizzle (gluten-free crust is a given) delivered in a box illustrated with anthropomorphic pot smoke. Sizzle Pie, open unusually late for Portland, would seem prime for expansion to college-type towns across the country. That’s not actually the case, however, as the farthest-flung location is in Reno. Once upon a time, though, there were two Sizzle Pies in Brooklyn." - Krista Garcia

Google
It was our first time that we tried Sizzle Pie and honestly it was good. The texture had the right amount of crunch and was perfectly cooked. Overall, it was a good experience both service and food wise except that loud music running in the background, which was honestly way too loud.

Google
This was the perfect lunch spot in Portland. The salad, pizza, and drink combo was amazing. I did not expect to get such a large portion of a salad, but for the cost you can't beat this food. Many pizza options, though I stuck with a generic pepperoni.

Cryschelle Jeffery

Google
Pretty good pizza sold by the slice in a hip environment. This location has a pinball machine. I love all the artwork on the walls and the employees were pretty attentive. Service was fast. The Void pizza is probably their best.

Greeshma Manomohan

Google
The pizza was so good. I don't take my pizza reviews lightly and this was really delicious. I am always on the look out for good pizza and creative vegetarian options. This had both. I only managed to take a picture of the pepperoni because it was all gone in a few seconds. Loved that they cut individual slices in half if you ask. The indoor seating was packed so we sat outside.

Jenifer McDonald

Google
Great location, but not a lot of indoor seating when they are busy. We came in around 6:30pm, ordered a gluten-free pepperoni pizza, Caligula salad and beer. Food was great, but employees were busy and not super friendly.

Google
Sizzler Pizza in delivers bold, flavorful pies with a punk rock attitude. While the decor is simple, the vibe comes from the music and no-nonsense service. Unique toppings and crispy crusts shine.

Craig Prater

Google
Came here to get a whole pie to go. I will say that for a regular-size pizza, it is pricier than I'm used to. But it was decent NY-style pizza, and it fulfilled the need. The space isn't the biggest, and it's usually crowded in the nighttime. However, they had good options to try, and you can order by the slice in person. Give them a try.

Marnie Jane Cooper

Google
The pizza is delicious. Perfect thin crust and not too greasy. The vegan caesar salad dressing is delicious. I got two more slices to go and when they were the wrong flavor the server didn’t hesitate to replace my order asap. I could have done with out the death rock blaring but the baby in the restaurant was loving it 🥰 rocking and bouncing along to it. Or maybe she just loved that pepperoni so much she was bouncing for joy 🤷🏼‍♀️ 👶 🎶 🍕

Yelp
Great pizza and wonderful service! The garlic knots and cinnamon knots were so good too. Our night wasn't going as planned but I'm so glad we decided to eat here. Bob took great care of us. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
They are so nice and friendly!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful customer service and really good food for low prices. Super chill and relaxed environment. Homey decor too. Thank you for a great experience!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
We ordered 3 Pizza's. I enjoyed their NY style thin crust. Decent undercarriage, crispy and chewy. They have Jones as fountain drinks. Service was friendly. The music was pretty loud. Good for groups.

Yelp
I wanted a good late night pizza spot and BOY WAS I WRONG. Sizzle Pie is just NOT GOOD. It was $16.95 for 3 slices of pizza and I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. I got in there and was about to order and noticed how each slice was $5.65 each... and that was just for the pepperoni pizza slices. That is RIDICULOUS, I actually initially asked how much a small pizza was and the guy who worked behind the register said, "Nope. We are just doing slices right now." I thought with it being a little later at night (even though they market themselves all over Portland and on Social Media how they are open LATE.), I let it go. It was a little ridiculous they couldn't even acknowledge my request for it since that was the reason I went there in the first place. I then had to order slices of the pizza available in the window and the selections looked HORRIBLE to say the least. The fact that the slices didn't look good in the window was a massive concern. I ended up ordering 3 slices since, well, that is less than the small pizza portion, and the total came to $16.95... I have lived in Portland for over 6 years now, and I accept the city prices for food and drink here. But for Sizzle Pie Slices at $5.95 a slice? No thanks... I will simply take my business to LoveVerona Pizza (much better pizza) or Little Caesar's (no I did not mention Little Caesar's because of the less expensive price...BUT for the BETTER and more HIGH quality pizza.) Overall, I was very disappointed with Sizzle Pie, and to be honest, I have been pretty disappointed with them for the last 3 years since I've chosen to eat their pizza. Lesson LEARNED - do not waste your time getting Sizzle Pie. There are MUCH BETTER pizza sports than this establishment.

Yelp
Fine, no frills carry out pizza joint with multiple locations. We tried the Queen (a very garlicky cheese pizza) and 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon (Hawaiian) and both satisfied. The crust had a nice balance--airy but substantial. We also had garlic knots. These could have been more buttery and garlicky, but the inclusion of dipping sauces (the cashew basil was especially good) helped. (3.5 stars).

Yelp
Atmosphere: Standard to-go style pizza place. Often a line at night Food: Not the best pizza. Crust can be pretty hard and not in the good crisp way. It works for late night when drunk, but I would probably go elsewhere on a standard day Price: Typical for Portland pizza price, but overpriced in my book Service: Fine Parking: Street parking

Yelp
This place has the best gluten free pizza in Portland - I'd argue. The crust is impeccable and never leaves me saying "I could tell that was gluten free" because it reminds me so much of actual crust. This is a thinner crust pizza so be aware of that, one of my personal favorites. Their traditional red sauce is great, but also go out and try the onion sauce as well with pepperoni, this was such a good kicker. Service was okay, I don't come here for the service exactly but the pizza tastes great. I also really enjoy that they make the gf box a different color than the standard pizza box so when I get multiple pizzas, my friends never confuse which pizza and I can ensure my own safety!

Yelp
Excellent east coast style Neapolitan pizza. Sausage and mushroom rocked it. A repeat performance is warranted!
google avatar

Nate C.

Yelp
Prices have gone up, quality has gone down. I appreciate them being open late but there are way better pizza places in PDX. Okay if you are out late and drunk

Yelp
Food- the pizza is pretty good. We got Pepperoni and Cheese. The menu has a different name but it's that. The crust is good, meat is good and cheese is as well. It's not super greasy. Drinks- I never know what to get but I prefer drinks that are fruity and fizzy so I asked our bartender to suprise us and she delivered. Sizzle Pie has a bar next to it and that's where we got our drinks. You can order food at the bar. I'm really pleased with this place. Ambiance- it's dimly lit/ dark vibes but the overall atmosphere a was really great. The servers/ bartenders were all pretty good. Super helpful and were really accommodating with requesting a suprise drink. I'd recommend. We will be back.

Yelp
I always get a pizza slice and salad. It's never disappointing and this is definitely Our favorite pizza place in town. Service is always fast and friendly. I'll always be able to find a place to sit. The music is wild and loud and that's suits me just fine.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
Great casual lunch spot for slice of pizza and side salad. Service is super quick and the prices are very reasonable. You order at a counter and seat yourself. The portion sizes of the salad and pizza slices are great. The slices are big, tasty, and the thin crust is perfect.

Yelp
Going to theater tonight and surprised to find the Doug Fir closed - maybe permanently. Looked for alternatives. Sizzle Pie was only a couple of blocks away and pizza is always good, right?? Well, not in this case. They had lots of choices by the slice. Nice idea! The problem is that they had all sat around for a while. They were very flat tasting and dried out. There was not enough of anything on them for toppings to have much flavor. If this was the only pizza I had ever had, I'd say I don't like pizza. Lucky for me this was just plain bad pizza. The good news: the service was fast and pleasant. The salad was quite tasty and fresh. They did not have any IPA on draft but had one ok IPA in a can. My advice is go somewhere else. Portland is full of great restaurants and even has some award winning pizza places. Why eat bad food in a foodie town?

Yelp
Great place to grab a quick slice, especially if it's later in the evening. Vegan options available. The ranch is solid, and the music is loud
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
Late night pizza always hits the spot. I tried their gold ring. It was crispy thin crust and a huge slice. It was a bit oily, but nothing stop me from eating pizza. Would love to come back to try others.
google avatar

Jennie T.

Yelp
The scent of fresh pizza drew me in, and I needed to have a slice. I got myself a cheese pizza and it tasted delicious. New York style, thin-crusted pizza fresh out of the oven with a fizzy green apple drink. I was given friendly customer service, and the environment was hip with posters and rock music. I would come here again for a quick lunch.

Yelp
After a long day of travel and shopping around downtown Portland, I was craving a solid slice of pizza. I read about Sizzle Pie on one of those "Best Pizza in Portland" lists and was finishing up my afternoon at Powell's - which is located across the street - so I decided to give it a try. There was a minimal wait to order on a Saturday afternoon, and I was able find a table indoors. The menu offers an impressive list of vegetarian, vegan, and meat-based slices and whole pies; while everything sounded good, I ordered the artichoke-topped pizza with white sauce, cheese, and cilantro. My pizza slice was ready in about 15 minutes (my group had ordered six slices total), and everything was served fresh and piping hot. While the pizza slices appear to be massive, they are made on thin crust with a perfectly balanced ratio of sauce to cheese + toppings. The artichoke pizza was excellent - the flavors were rich and satisfying, and the crust was both crisp and chewy. One slice was just the right amount for me; my dad and brother were satisfied after two slices. While I haven't tried all the pizza in Portland yet, I'm definitely adding Sizzle Pie to my go-to list for the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
I just love sizzle pie. They really do it for me. Thinner New York style crust. Displayed slices are Vegan on top - vegetarian in middle - meat on bottom. it's pizza, it's never really bad. However, sizzler does it well. Love their vegan pies and metal vibes. It's always busy but they have it locked in so you won't wait long. It's a quick bite type of spot, not really a date night situation. They do have liquor and beer on tap. If you're looking to enjoy the night, plenty of watering holes right outside the door.

Yelp
Came here for the vegan pizza, but came out with a slice of cheese pizza instead. My friends call me the fake NYC local because I frequent the big apple often, so I have had my fair share of thin crust pizza. There were only 2 vegan options available to choose from, but only one had ~some~ vegan cheese. Therefore, I opted for the cheese slice instead. There is quite a limited selection here. If you wanted to try more than the ones on display, you would definitely have to order an entire pizza. I came by myself, so that was not an option. For the first 3-4 bites, it definitely had that thin and crispy texture I was looking for. However, half way through the slice got extremely soggy. It may be because they served their slices on steel plates, so the crust loses its crispiness. Overall, I left disappointed especially after seeing so many great reviews. I would return with a group next time just to try out the vegan pizza though.
google avatar

Anthony A.

Yelp
It's a late night eatery. I'm not a pizza snob but I know good pizza when I eat it. At Sizzle, you are getting fairly good New York thin crust pizza. I like Chicago style pizza more but you can't go wrong at 11pm leaving the club. It's a cool place to go and hang out with friends at a night on the town. It's a few notches up from being a pizza dive. Selling slices like New Yorkers, they have to start being a little more rude to get the full New York treatment. LMAO
google avatar

Dan F.

Yelp
The pizza was just OK. Minus a star for them sending a delivery pizza away and not cutting it at all. I was staying at a hotel and had to rip it!
google avatar

Yelp
Being new to the area, my wife and I are slowly exploring Portland. Of course, that means trying all manner of food places. After hitting up nearby Ranger Chocolate we found this pizza place. Walking into the place, I could tell it had it's own "vibe". You'll have to go yourself to experience it fully. The pizza, New York style, served primarily "by the slice". If you're anywhere nearby, stopping for their pizza is well worth it...especially the pepperoni. It was a delicious, perfectly made basic pie. We tried two of their specialties including a white pizza. They were also pretty good. Their soda machine has Jones Soda which is a plus. Cashier was a nice guy. Kept his cool despite it being very busy. They did run out of both of their vegan pizzas. Two of my friends eat vegan pizza (part of why we went there) so we did have to wait about 20 min for new pies.
google avatar

Darren Y.

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while and glad I checked it out. Located kitty corner from Powell's books on burnside. I opted to download the sizzle pie app on my phone and order pickup from there. App worked fine - only complaint was that it didn't let me use their free garlic knot promo. Got a chicken / bacon / mushroom / pepper pizza which was great - a little pricey at 25 bucks.
google avatar

Joo Yeon Y.

Yelp
Coming here on a fall afternoon reminded me of New York's scenery and their amazing pizza. Definitely a personal preference, but I love thin-crust pizzas that aren't extremely greasy. The pizza did not disappoint and it was a great place to go with a group of friends. It is on the pricey side, but the slices were big and it tasted great. They have vegetarian and vegan options. I recommend the "police & thieves"!
google avatar

Alexis F.

Yelp
Really thick crust and fun wall art! We stopped for dinner after shopping and left with full stomachs for our drive home. The cheese pizza tastes like the classic favorite you crave.
google avatar

Jesse D.

Yelp
Just went through on my "lunch" dinner break, saw these large cheese slices on display. I order two slices of cheese. They give me two slices from a tiny pie they had around. I will never eat at Sizzle Pie again and if anyone recommends we go there I will tell them about how they rip you off when you order a slice.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I had heard good things about Sizzle Pie and we wanted to check it out. Not sure if it was an off day for them, but service was very slow. The flavors in the salad were good, and we really enjoyed the homemade vegan ranch it was served with. The flavors of the garlic knots and pizza were good too, but were vastly overshadowed by the long wait for our food and the cold temperature of our knots and pizza. We were super disappointed and probably won't be back anytime soon.
google avatar

J L.

Yelp
Sizzle Pie is hit & miss. Sometimes it tastes like a good New York slice & sometimes it tastes like mall pizza. But I like that it does slices, is open late, and is fast.
google avatar

Lenny V.

Yelp
Good pie. Friendly and helpful crew. Perfect amount of noise to drown out the screaming kids. If I had known all I was going to hear was screaming kids, I would've never had the feral little bastards. Anyway, good flavorful pie.
google avatar

Divine Grace C.

Yelp
We always look for a pizza that has vegan crust since my daughter has egg allergy. My daughter has a preference when it comes to taste and texture when eating her food and this is really good. She said "best pizza ever". Staff is friendly and service was fast. Like the ambiance but not for my little one but it doesn't really matter since we ordered ours to go.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Food and service were great. The music they were playing was absolutely horrible. Loud swearing, screaming, etc. I realize that businesses have the right to play what they want, but this was kind of excessive. I stopped here for their great pizza and a drink before walking back to my hotel, but I was hoping for a leisurely lunch. I didn't stay that long due to the music bothering me. Regarding the music, I know that I could have easily sat outside but it was cold and the girl at the counter told me that if I sat out there I wouldn't be able to hear them calling my name for my order. Honestly I should have just risked it. In all fairness, though I really like their pizza and the prices weren't too bad. I got the Problem Child, which is two slices of pizza and a drink. I couldn't finish both pieces so I took one home in a box. Looking forward to enjoying it later.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
It's all around pretty good and pretty good deal! I've never been disappointed by a slice. Even the pizza week one was good. It's usually pretty quick. I would give it a try.
google avatar

Rachell H.

Yelp
The best pizza I have ever had in my life. I look forward to Sizzle Pie all the time!!
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
I can't believe they served me this slice lol what a joke. When I moved from NY to here everyone raved about sizzle pie here locally. Will never go back, would rather eat a frozen Walmart pizza.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
I really loved this pizza place! We stopped on our way home to Tacoma because my daughter wanted a slice of pizza. So glad we did. They had vegan slices, vegetarian slices, including plain cheese, and pepperoni. The salads are gigantic and they even make their own vegan ranch and vegan Caesar. I regret not trying some of the more fun pizza slices, but I will be back on my way through!

Vivian L.

Yelp
Stopped here after a day visiting Portland's best, Kens bakery, Powells Books, and Ground Control Arcade. (They are all awesome!!!) It was my first time at a Sizzle Pie, and I enjoyed the ambiance upon walking in. The music was not too loud at all for me, and I liked the shirt options. The service was pretty good, I think it would have been better if they were less busy, as everyone seemed a little frazzled. Half of my group was hungry and they wanted their individual slices, so they just got the individuals heated up. They came out within minutes, but were a little soggy and old tasting after sitting out all day. However, the rest of my group decided to get a whole pizza, and I'm glad we did. It did take about 20 minutes compared to the quick timing for the slices, but it was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious! One thing that seemed weird was that you could only order a 16" pie if it was gluten free, so we got the 18" instead. Overall, it's a great place to stop, but I would recommend getting a fresh pie if you have the time, for it's are wayyy better than the slices.
google avatar

Aleathia S.

Yelp
Great space for good vibes! I enjoyed the music which was extremely eclectic. The pizza was great hot but left more to be desired once it was not hot at the table. The price of the large pizza was decent. The pizza was at its best after adding garlic, red crush peppers, oregano, and grated parm cheese. The staff provided great service. The pizza took 25 minutes to cook but the music was so good that the time flew by. I would absolutely return. Parking is street parking. The alcohol service is suspended but we were told there was an issue serving alcohol. Maybe next time.
google avatar

A.j. P.

Yelp
Sizzle Pie is making pizza ala Time Square style. I like to try the cheese pizza when going to a pizzeria for the first time. Sizzle Pie pizza has all NYC style in its pizza. Crunchy crust (check), Pizza fold (check), and my favorite pizza grease (check). Sizzle Pie in Downtown PDX offers no table service, it's not a spot to hangout it's more like eat your slice(s) and get on with your day; and Pizza Sizzle goes a step further with Jones soda. It's not your run-of-mill pizzeria you get tasty pizza and Jones soda. This place is worth your time and effort.
google avatar

Annie H.

Yelp
A late night slice of sizzle pie never misses. I love the thin crust and how they heat up the slice for you. My favorite go-to order is the pepperoni with jalapeños. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors!
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Lots of great places for pizza in Portland! Who would have known Portland is known for pizza? Sizzle Pie was close to where we were staying and I am a sucker for a by the slice classic pizza joint. We enjoyed our slice of pizza and glass of vino. We also appreciated that they asked for proof of vaccine to dine in. There is a quaint small bar that you can grab a whole pizza or slice and a drink. Perfect quick stop to duck out of the rain. I ordered a cheese slice. It was very similar to New York style. It was thin with a good crust. Great sauce and not super greasy cheese. My husband got the five cheese that also was topped with a goat cheese. We enjoyed the atmosphere, good costumer service and quality pizza for the price. Can't wait to visit again. Like most places in Portland, parking isn't the best. We walked from our hotel. Otherwise it is paid street parking.
google avatar

Sam U.

Yelp
Cool location with some unique slices. Yes, they have vegan options. They also have a deal for a slice + beer + shot for like $10. I did not partake but you do you. It was exactly what you expect for a beer and pizza place.
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
Wildly impressed!! Was in town for a wedding and during the random snowstorm, there was NOTHING open and thankfully we were right down the street from this location. My husband slid (literally) on over to pick up our pizzas - I for the Steve Caballero (vegan) and he got the Raising Arizona (non-vegan). I LOVED mine and had it for breakfast and a post-wedding snack. So so good. My husband loved his too! If you order a full size, you'll have leftovers for literal days. Wish they'd bring Sizzle Pie to Paso Robles!

Erik E.

Yelp
Food was terrible. Pizza was old, garlic knots weren't cooked. Service was terse, felt like ordering was an annoyance. Threw away half my order because I was eating half cooked bread. Pizza tasted like cardboard.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Enjoyable pizza by the slice. The location and hours are convenient, and portions are quite big. It's not the best pizza in the city but it's not the worst.

Princess S.

Yelp
Rabbit Salad and an Ace of Spades is the perfect pairing for any day of the week. The staff is amazing at answering any questions be it pizza or beer. Iron Maiden pinball, and the music is always on. Grab some sizzling shirts and hang out on the pat
google avatar

Gus N.

Yelp
The best pizza ever! I recommend it for pizza lovers. It is so good that I eat there almost every day
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
I tried the pizza at Sizzle as I was walking through downtown Portland. The crust was perfect (crispy at the bottom with a thin layer of soft crust). The cheese was good, but I could barely taste any sauce in the slices. The toppings were tasty and the crust was great. I think this is a great place to enjoy a good pizza slice, and the interior is welcoming. I just wish that the service could be faster and for there to be more pizza flavors being offered.
google avatar

Debbie B.

Yelp
Decided to check the place out and wasn't disappointed. Nice setup and great pizza. The garlic knots were amazing and they had great options! Loved the Jones soda machine. Staff was super friendly and food didn't take long to get after ordered. I wish the place had a bigger dining area inside but the outside area was fine.
google avatar

Joel Y.

Yelp
Very good New York style pizza slice. I've always felt one of the things that distinguished true New York style, is the crust. Sizzle Pies crust is on point. Worth the visit if you are in Portland
