14 Great Restaurants Near Pike Place Market

"This Georgian cafe a few blocks south of the market specializes in kachapuri, cheesy bread boats popular in Eastern Europe. The classic “adjaruli” version is simply served with a runny egg yolk and butter. The “lobiani” version — filled with beans, bacon, red chili, cheese, and egg is another good bet. Note: These kachapuri are defined by dairy, and no vegan versions are served." - Eater Staff, Jade Yamazaki Stewart

Where to Eat Around T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field

"The so-called “Georgian cheese boat” craze has died down a little since the late 2010s, and Instagram feeds might not be brimming with luscious khachapuri photos anymore, but that’s no reason to love Skalka any less. The cozy bakeshop does a variety of savory khachapuri from around the former Soviet republic, like the classic eye-shaped khachapuri adjaruli, with a gooey sulguni cheese, a butter pat, and a sunny egg, or the khachapuri imeruli, which hides the cheese inside the bread like a giant pupusa. They also do creative modern takes that are just as delicious, like a beef stroganoff khachapuri with pickles and an egg on a sulguni cheese base. Fun fact: The word skalka means “rolling pin” in Georgian!" - Meg van Huygen

"This popular bakery located near the waterfront downtown recently is known for both khachapuri and wonderfully plump Khinkali (Georgian dumplings filled with a choice of shredded beef, mushrooms, or a cheese blend). Open for takeout through the official website and delivery via third-party apps such as GrubHub, Postmates, and Caviar." - Eater Staff

Chung Chun Rice Dog Opens Its First Seattle Location - Eater Seattle

"Croissants, toasts, sandwiches, and coffee dominate the menu at Skalka, a new cafe on Spring St, not too far from Pier 55. The bright, cozy space has some seating, but is mostly grab-and-go. There are also a variety of different types of coffee styles available, such as Vietnamese, Indian, and Russian, for those who want to mix it up." - Megan Hill

Google
I'd been looking forward to trying this restaurant featuring Georgian food for quite a while. Although ordering the food was a little different (you place your order on a computer screen as you enter), the food was fantastic! I had the eggplant and peppers dish, my brother had the chicken one. They were both so yummy and we will definitely be back! I wish they'd serve beer, though- that's my only complaint! 💙

Google
Wanted something to fill up on before headed to the airport. Our bread bowls were made fresh to order, so expect a minimum 15 min wait, but wow were they worth the wait! The crust was crispy and chewy, filling was well seasoned and just soupy enough to enjoy by absorbing into the crust. So much delicious cheese and egg🍳!

Google
Excellent food at a reasonable price. They make their dough fresh daily and it shows; pillowy inside, crusty outside. The stroganoff was tender and flavorful. Fast service, friendly staff. I have no complaints whatsoever. We’ll be back!

Daniela

Google
I was advised by the employee to get Stroganoff and then their second best one, Chicken. Personally, I enjoyed the chicken one. It had a stronger flavor, not spicy or salty, just perfect. Bread was simple but complements perfectly with the filling. One can be shared between two people. If you are a person who likes something "simpler" (in flavor), I would say the Stroganoff is for you. If you prefer something more with a stronger taste of herbs, then try the chicken one. Their orange juice was nice. The customer service was great. Thank you for taking the time to recommend and explain.

Google
We were the second customer to have walked in on Monday morning. Within minutes, other customers came in. Service was quick with no frills. Every table has napkins and forks, that’s pretty much it. But the food was delicious! The bread, the goat cheese and the chicken were in perfect harmony without overwhelming the taste.

Google
The food is absolutely delicious, you can taste the care and dedication in every bite! 😊 One small suggestion for an even better experience: switching from disposable cutlery to reusable, high-quality cutlery would elevate the dining atmosphere and reinforce the restaurant’s branding. It’s a minor change that could make a big difference in customer satisfaction

Google
I ordered the chicken but now would like to try every one of them. Very simple restaurant. That’s the whole menu other than a few beverages. Takes 10-15 minutes but comes out hot and smelling amazing. The chicken was seasoned with fresh herbs and tomatoes. The egg was done to perfection and had a large chunk of really nice butter melting beside it. Egg and butter are over a bed of melted, gooey, tangy cheese. The bread tastes like the real good pizza dough but a bit softer. It was for sure enough for two people but I skipped breakfast and protein shake knowing I would be eating this. I ate it all. Guessing 1200+ calories. Oh well, what’s a girl to do? I exercise and eat right so no guilt when this happens.

Google
We ordered the chicken khachapuri and it was amazing! We did have to wait about 15 minutes for our food but that’s because they freshly make each order. Contrary to previous menus, there is only one size for the khachapuri. It is sizable (think medium personal pan pizza) and perfect for sharing if you’re not that hungry. The restaurant was clean and had lots of seating available. Each table has their own napkins and plastic ware for your use. Highly recommend this cute spot for a lunch stop!

Yelp
Ok guys! I was so excited to try this place I did a bit of research beforehand just in case any of yawl were curious about this cuisine like I was. I found out that the dish served here is actually called Khachapuri. Its very popular across eastern Europe and is in fact, the national dish of the country of Georgia. The bread is made by being leavened and allowed to rise, molded into various shapes, (in this case a boat) and then filled in the center with a mixture of cheese, eggs, and other ingredients. I decided to have this for breakfast and it was very comforting. I would definitely recommend the Lobiani that comes with red beans and bacon inside for a rainy cold Seattle day. The butter they use inside with the cheese was listed on the menu as organic high quality butter and it definitely gave that. The bread was soft but sturdy and held everything together without the structure falling apart. Making it easy to actually carry around in a box (which Skalka provides) or just out if you want to dine in. The organic butter, cheese, and runny egg combo made it flavorful. The red beans, bacon, and banana peppers made it hearty and so filling. I will admit, I could have certainly eaten the Khachapuri without the banana peppers however, it was still a delicious experience.

Yelp
Why did it take me so long to discover khachapuri?! Honestly, what could be better than a bread boat filled with cheese, it's divine! Skalka is a cute cafe open close to the Seattle waterfront... a great choice if you are down visiting the great wheel. They offer the ability to order ahead so you don't have to wait, which is nice as all their breads are cooked fresh to order. It will be piping hot when you get there. You can go with a plain egg and cheese, but my favorite was the stroganoff. Though, you can't go wrong with any option. This is perfect comfort food for a cool fall or rainy winter day.

Yelp
Food was great, you have to purchase your food through a kiosk. I would have like to ordered from a person just because I wanted to alter the order by adding something additional. We went as soon as it opened so it was pretty chill. Nice set up on the tables and space.
google avatar

Ainsley E.

Yelp
Cool to have cuisine like this near the market. Nice, bright interior. Ordering system is just a kiosk up at the bar where you order your meal and pick it up when ready. They have limited drinks here; just plain coffee, soda, OJ, and water. Would be nice to have an espresso machine and some more coffee or tea options, honestly. That would kick this place to the next level. We enjoyed our Lobiani boat, though would recommend getting some extra pickles and grabbing a bottle of hot sauce. Would like to come again and try the other boats to compare!

Yelp
This was a really nice treat! We've never had Georgian cuisine before, but enjoyed this. These are eaten by ripping off a piece of the outer bread and dipping it into the filling. Both were terrific, but we enjoyed the veggie one slightly more than the beef stroganoff one. As far as service, you order at an iPad and pick up at the counter, so there isn't much interaction. Ambiance is simple, plastic chairs and slightly outdated decor. But the food is good!
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Cute restaurant very close to Pike Place Market. We opted for the beef bowl and the chicken bowl. I preferred the chicken bowl because it had a tomato base and tasted more flavorful. I liked that the bread was meant to be ripped off and dipped into the yolk/filling. Once you get to the center, you can eat it almost like a pizza. A great amount of food in that bread boat!
google avatar

Cis B.

Yelp
Unique and delicious! The bread was so perfect. Pillowy, chewy, and tender. I got the stroganoff because I love pickles. Service is interesting because they only have a self-serve kiosk to make your order but that's fine. I'd definitely go back to try another flavor

Yelp
Skalka serves khachapuri, a Georgian cheesy bread boat that's a fantastic mix between a calzone and a bread bowl. The dough is like pizza crust filled with cheese and a runny egg yolk, which adds a rich flavor, though you can ask for it cooked if you prefer. I tried both the veggie and chicken khachapuri, and they were both delicious. The chicken khachapuri features tomatoes and fresh herbs, while the veggie version includes eggplants, red bell peppers, tomatoes, and fresh herbs. The dish offers a perfect balance of hearty bread and flavorful filling. The service at Skalka was friendly and efficient, and the ordering system was straightforward. The ambiance was casual and inviting, making it a pleasant spot for a meal. We went for brunch and easily found a seat, but it might be busier earlier in the day. Something to Note - There's no nearby parking, so be prepared to find a spot a bit further away.

Yelp
Small Georgian spot in Seattle. Parking can be tough on weekends. If it's packed be aware it'll be hard to grab a table as well which can be frustrating. BUT, the boats are dreamy. I love bread, cheese, and flavor. This boat brings all of that together. I enjoy ripping the bread and dipping it in to the middle to eat with the filling.

Yelp
We ordered the beef stroganoff khachapuri and it was delicious! A great spot for a quick visit and we will be back on our next trip to Seattle!

Yelp
First time going to skalka cafe and it did not disappoint!!! Such a cute spot close by the Seattle waterfront which is great for a walk afterwards The size of the Khachapuri was so big that you can definitely share it with another person. The bread was so fluffy inside and went well with the filling and the nice runny egg. Also get their hot sauce on the side!! It's sooo good and goes so well with the breading. I could be eat just bread and sauce and I'll be happy LOL. Out of the two khachapuri we got, we definitely liked the chicken one better compared to beet one. It was so much more flavorful and a nice balance between the cheese and egg.

Yelp
Thank you Yelpers this one was bc of you!!! My friends and I were traveling to Seattle and we needed to pick some good places to eat. None of us had been there before so I checked Yelp for some help. Skalka had great reviews and the pictures were great so we went here for breakfast. It was so good , we all said we would travel there just for their food lol . Between us we ordered the cheese, chicken and the vegetable and all of us agree that it couldn't get any better . The staff was very nice , we asked where they originated from and the worker gave us a little history on them. It really is like a breakfast pizza with hand made and hand pulled dough . I had the cheese and asked for an extra egg .

Yelp
At first it was odd to not have a person to order from with their automation but it worked really well. The food was fantastic!! We will be back next time we are in the area.

Yelp
Our first time visiting Seattle and found Skalka on some foodie Instagram pages. It looked so intriguing and yummy I had to come check it out! I love yolky eggs, so I was super excited to try! The place is self serve, so you order from the kiosk and enter your phone number so they could text you when it's ready. Then you could find a table if you're dining in. Limited seating, but we were able to snag a table on a Friday afternoon. We got the Chicken boat, Lobiani boat, and cold pressed orange juice. My bf really liked his chicken boat and said it reminded him of a breakfast pizza LOL. He devoured it!!! The Lobiani boat had beans, pickled chilis, and bacon! Soooo good!!! And that yolky egg, perfection! The bread was so soft and fresh. The portions fill you up; I had to grab a to-go box from the self serve counter. (My bf ate my leftovers that night LOL) The cold press oj from the bottle was also so refreshing! We would definitely come back to Skalka the next time we're back! Ugh, I'm really craving some right now!!!

Yelp
For breakfast on a Sunday morning, before heading home after a long weekend in Seattle, my husband and I came to Skalka. It was walking distance from our hotel, and when we arrived, the place was packed! They are currently operating under a self-service ordering model - you walk up to a kiosk and place your order at the front counter. You can then wait for your food and grab a seat. It was all a little confusing, but once we figured it out, the rest was smooth sailing. My biggest qualm was that people were hawking tables without having received their food so that when our food did arrive, we were left there standing with nowhere to sit. Other than that, the food itself was absolutely delicious and I cannot recommend it enough. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into their product and it shows. The bread was so fresh and the melted cheese with the egg just screamed comfort food. This is definitely the type of spot that I will return to every time I am in Seattle because the food is that good.

Yelp
Wow. One of the best things I've ever eaten and could go on about this place for a long time; If you visit Seattle, you have to try this place! Went on a Wednesday morning around 10am and was pretty much able to order as soon as we entered. Ordering is through a tablet so staff can focus on making the khachapuri. Waited about 15 minutes for the dish to come out. I got the veggie boat without the egg yolk. The bread is incredibly soft, still has flavor and is a perfect vehicle for the inner boat. The veggie filling is flavorful and tomatoey. The cheese is flavorful, melty and soft. The ratio of filling to bread is just right. It's such a filling dish, it can definitely be split between 2 meals. A perfect dish, chef's kiss!

Yelp
Have you tried Khachapuri before? Skalka in Downtown Seattle specializes in a traditional Georgian dish called Khachapuri. Just imagine a soft yet chewy bread boat filled with all sorts of flavorful ingredient combinations, like cheese, egg, chicken ragu and more. We tried the: - Beef Stroganoff - Veggie - Chicken - Lobiani Our favorite was the Lobiani with the banana peppers, bacon and red beans. The sweetness from the red beans and the tartness from the peppers makes for a rich and flavorful dip! You'll also notice that there are just forks at the tables as the Khachapuri crust is meant to be torn by hand. If you're visiting Downtown and the Pike Place Market area, head on over to Skalka for a unique and tasty meal!

Yelp
Loved this breakfast boat! Skalka has been on my list to try for a while and so glad I finally got to try it (even if it was to-go). I loved the favors of the beef and cheese in this. And the bread from the boat is fantastic! The portions are massive and can easily be shared between two people (or yummy leftovers). Each one is around ~$18 but you definitely get your value out of it. I can't wait to come to the restaurant in the near future!
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first time trying Georgian cuisine, and I can't believe it took me so long to discover it. The Chicken Boat was absolutely out of this world! The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, making it a perfect spot if you're exploring downtown Seattle. I highly recommend this place. P.S.: You get a free coffee with your meal when you check in on Yelp.

Yelp
Nestled on the outskirts of Pikes Place in Seattle, Skalka offers a delightful culinary experience with a scenic backdrop that complements its unique approach to dining. The restaurant's commitment to delicious food and an innovative online ordering system makes it a standout in the bustling Seattle food scene. One of the notable features of Skalka is its picturesque location, providing a charming escape from the urban hustle. The ambiance is perfect for those seeking a break from the Pike's Place touristy noise. Skalka takes an unconventional approach to ordering, with the entire process conducted online. While this may be a novel concept, it does streamline the ordering process, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. However, this approach might not suit everyone, especially those who prefer a more traditional experience with face-to-face interaction. The menu at Skalka boasts a variety of delectable options, showcasing a fusion of flavors that cater to diverse palates. The Chicken Boat seemed a bit overwhelming and a bit to ummm mushy. In hindsight, opting for the Cheese Boat alone might have been a wiser choice, as it allowed the individual ingredients to shine without the slight overcrowding observed in the Chicken Boat. While the food at Skalka is undoubtedly a highlight, the service could use a friendlier touch. The online ordering system, while efficient, lacks the personal interaction that many patrons seek in a dining experience. A bit more warmth and engagement from the staff could elevate the overall satisfaction for guests. If the restaurant could enhance its service with a more personable touch, it would undoubtedly secure its place as a must-visit destination on the outskirts of Pikes Place in Seattle.

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place and finally made it! The 'khachapuri' , which looks like a breakfast pizza, was very yummy! The place felt a little sterile after the pandemic with self ordering kiosk, water station, etc. Although there weren't really any 'services' since you order yourself and you pick the food from the counter, but the tables weren't being cleaned quickly so it is available for the next guest. Ordered the Lobiani with red beans which was great. Looking forward to coming back for the Veggie since the eggplant looks amazing on my friend's plate :). Wish there was more drink options. But they had drip coffee, orange juice and canned soda.

Yelp
Loved this little spot on our trip. It's extremely unique and the boat itself was good. Bread was delicious and fluffy and we loved the clean environment. Long wait time (30-45 minutes) but it gave us a chance to explore elsewhere.

Yelp
Imagine this: It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon in downtown Seattle. I've just had a blast wandering around Pike Place Market, taking in the vibrant sights and sounds. As I stroll along the Seattle Waterfront, marveling at the majestic cruise ships, something catches my eye--a cozy little spot called Skalka. Curiosity piqued, I whip out my phone and turn to Yelp for the lowdown. To my delight, I discover that Skalka is a haven of deliciousness, offering up an array of made-to-order bread boats that promise to warm the soul. And get this--they're a small business run by folks from Georgia (the country)! The mention of Khachapuri sends my taste buds into overdrive, reminding me of those mouthwatering promos I've seen on Evening Magazine. Stepping inside Skalka, I'm greeted by a laid-back vibe and simple decor that feels just right for a morning meal, even though its 4 pm! The excitement builds as I picture sinking my teeth into a freshly baked bread boat, oozing with cheesy goodness and topped with a perfectly cooked egg--each one lovingly crafted by hand. With options like classic cheese, veggie-packed delights, and hearty beef stroganoff, there's something for every palate. Opting for the veggie boat, I'm treated to a burst of fresh flavors that hit the spot perfectly. And let's talk about freshness--Skalka's dough is whipped up in small batches throughout the day, guaranteeing that every bite is as fresh as can be. No stale bread in sight! Oh, and did I mention Skalka's claim to fame? They've been showered with praise from every corner, earning their spot as a true gem in Seattle's culinary scene. So, whether you're in the mood for a leisurely brunch or a quick bite on the go, Skalka has got you covered. Don't let the time of day hold you back--swing by and experience the magic for yourself. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you later!

Yelp
Despite frequently passing by this restaurant, it was my first visit, inspired by rave reviews. I decided to go for brunch on a Saturday, but the timing coincided with the Seafair Torchlight Parade, which led to most streets being closed. After 30 minutes of searching, I found street parking nearly a mile away and walked to the restaurant. **Ambiance**: The restaurant has large floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light, creating an airy and welcoming atmosphere. The decor is funky and fun, adding to the overall charm. **Ordering Process**: I ordered at a kiosk and provided my phone number, which felt unnecessary. It would be more customer-friendly to use numbered tokens instead of collecting personal information. After ordering, the food was brought to my table, and there were no further interactions with the staff during my meal. **Food**: I ordered a Lobiani, which consisted of red beans, runny eggs, bacon, banana peppers, and butter melting into the cheese alongside the egg yolk. Initially, I was unsure how to eat it, but I decided to chip away at the fresh and fluffy bread and use a fork for the filling. Once it was small enough, I used my hands. Although it didn't look very big, it was quite filling, and I had some leftovers. **Taste**: The food was good, but it didn't live up to the rave reviews that had set my expectations very high. It reminded me of a pizza, especially with the egg yolk and two handle-like protrusions on each side. However, it was still enjoyable and satisfying. **Value**: The price was around $18, which seemed reasonable for the portion and quality. **Conclusion**: I have nothing bad to say about the food, but it wasn't as mind-blowing as some reviews claimed. Despite that, I'm a sucker for breakfast restaurants and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Yelp
So delicious and unique! I was hesitant for the runny egg but it mixes with the hot cheese and makes a delicious concoction. The vegetables mixed with the cheese and bread were just the perfect bite. Service was great and the restaurant was clean. It's a small place right near pier 45. You order at the kiosk and wait about 15-20 minutes for your order.

Yelp
easy ordering at a tablet when you walk in, clean and friendly staff and delicious options that will introduce you to georgian food, khachapuri specifically. i have to wonder how many tourists dare to walk beyond the alaskan way waterfront or venture beyond pike place market to experience skalka. it would be a shame to not give this place a try. it's unusual and worth a visit and i know i'll be recommending it to visitors and friends who even live here in the greater seattle area. the bread is light and fluffy and provides the perfect support for the varied contents. my veggie option had both cheese and runny egg as well as a tasty savory mix of tomatoes, peppers and eggplant. i initially thought i'd only be able to eat half and that i'd walk out with leftovers but to my surprise, i finished virtually the whole thing and haven't been hungry since so if you're looking for a way to experience a new cuisine and fill the belly for a large part of your day, this place is it!

Yelp

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and had a great time! We luckily didn't have to wait to find a seat, but it definitely got busier on our way out. Street parking is available in the area, but there is a decent sized paid parking lot nearby. We ended up all getting different types, but I ordered the chicken. The food is very flavorful, and it was a great experience trying this cuisine for the first time. Service was great and the staff were patient while we tried to decide what to order. You'll order at the front, and they'll give you a number they'll call later to pick up your food. When you're done, they ask you to throw it all away. They have a good-sized pizza-style box if you have leftovers you want to take home. This is a great restaurant I'll definitely be coming back to when in the area! Don't forget to check in through the Yelp app for a free coffee!

Yelp
I came here for the first time a few weeks ago. I've never had khachapuri before. This was a great introduction! When we walked in, I was surprised that there was no one at the counter, and one ordering screen. There was only one group ahead of me, though, so the ordering process went smoothly and didn't take too long. I think it may be beneficial to have at least one person at the counter, in case people have questions. Luckily, I didn't have any at the time. We ordered one beef stroganoff boat. It was big enough for me and my husband to share. We sat by the window and saw the ferris wheel as we noshed on our food. Good times. So the stroganoff part was delicious. Meaty, mushroomy, and it even had pickles on top. I thought the presence of pickles was weird at first, but soon learned that their nice crunchy tang balanced the richness of the rest of the dish. The egg and cheese side was honestly a bit boring in flavor. It needed something... salt? Spices? I don't know. Texture was good though, and we ended up mixing it all up anyway to make a wonderful dip for the yummy fresh bread. We looked for a hot sauce. All they had was a sriracha made by Tabasco, which is surprisingly good on its own, but it did not go with the stroganoff. Maybe a hot sauce like harissa would be nice. Or just chili flakes. I'd love to come back to try some other flavors. Also, apparently you can get a free coffee with a Yelp Check-In... I didn't realize that last time, but I will try it next time!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and made the perfect brunch! I have had this spot on my list for a long time and was excited to come here while on a date with my husband before checking out the Seattle Aquarium. It's a really clean and open cafe. We ordered at the self order kiosk. I got the chicken and my husband got the stroganoff. Both were so tasty. The bread is perfection and everything was very flavorful. Overall, really enjoyed this spot and it's high on my recommendation list for family and friends to try!

Yelp
I absolutely loved it. I got the adjaruli which is a sort of bread bowl with soft, curdy cheese, fresh melted butter, and an egg yolk. It was so damn good. The bread was very soft and fresh. They say all of their orders are cooked fresh by hand and I believe them. Freshly baked bread is a wonderful thing. It had a nice chew to it also. To eat it you break off pieces of bread and dunk it in the cheese, butter, egg yolk mixture. It's so much fun. The mixture is good. Nicely salted. Definitely coats your mouth but it isn't too much. Pretty creamy and luxurious. I enjoyed the novelty of this dish too. It's not the sort of thing where there are complex flavors going around. More of a comfort food the way mac n cheese or grilled cheese is. But sometimes that is just perfect. I would go out of my way to return to Skalka if I lived in Seattle (and had a faster metabolism).

Yelp
My family have been a big fan of cheese boats ever since moving to Seatlle! On average, we go to Skalka once every two weeks. The food quality has been consistently great even though the portion was a little shrinking due to inflation. However tbh, we kind of love the current portion more. As the size was HUGE at our first visit in 2022, but we could not control ourselves from finishing everything lol. We will continue with going to Skalka, as it is offering the unique and delicious boat that is hard find anywhere else!

Yelp
Just GO! Over the past ~6 months, I've had a few appointments in either Pill Hill and/or SODO and ever since I heard/read about Skalka, couldn't miss the opportunity to grab a Khachapuri (bread boat) take-out en route while returning home to Northern Seattle. The first time I got what to me seemed like the most interesting combination, the LOBIANI -- red beans, runny eggs, bacon, banana peppers, and with butter melting into the cheese alongside the egg yolk. I was in heaven. as I was loving the magical buttery crust and toppings. The second time I opted for the VEGGIE -- Soft and tender house-made bread boat which is split into 2 parts - the cheese with egg yolk and butter and the veggies. The vegetables included eggplants, tomatoes, and onions. I split this one with my (vegetarian) parents at home before they left to head to their abode on the Eastside. They enjoyed it very much as well. And this last time, just yesterday (Friday June 7th), returning home from errands and appointments I got the ADJARULI -- Melty fresh cheese, grass-fed butter and soft runny egg yolk (optional). You break the yolk and allow all the flavors to mix! The bread is soft inside and perfect for dipping into the mixture. It's perfection in all its simplicity as I realized last time that this simple bread/cheese/butter combo is my childhood fantasy IRL (Vegetables, what vegetables???) As I said, Just GO!

Yelp
This restaurant is a couple of blocks walking distance from Pikes Place, but overall, I believe it was worth it! Upon walking in the restaurant, it was full and you can tell that it was already a well-known and trendy spot in the area. We were able to place our orders on the tablet near the front and grab a seat, but there was a bit of a wait, even though we ordered 1 bread boat. We ordered the chicken bread boat (also known as khachapuri) and I thought it was very delicious and fun to eat! It reminded me of a meat lovers pizza with a bread base, cheese, and toppings, but organized and seasoned differently. It was definitely an experience and I'd definitely come back if I had some time and was with some friends!

Yelp
So rich, but so delicious! On a recent trip to Seattle we stopped in for breakfast. I came across this place on Yelp, and we have loved the khachapuri at a restaurant near home, so had to give this place a try. I can say definitively - this was so much better! We ordered the original - cheesy buttery goodness, and then also ordered the one with bacon, red beans, and banana peppers. I have to say that the original is perfection, and definitely my favorite. It was nice to try the one with bacon as well though, which was also delicious, and having a bite with the tangy banana peppers cut through some of the richness of the original. Don't ask for a knife - they don't have them. Rip off bits of bread, stir your egg yolk in with the cheesy goodness, and continue to rip, dip, and enjoy. One per person was definitely too much, so I suggest coming with a few people so you can share a couple of them for some variety (or just come super hungry and have your own, lol). The restaurant itself was clean and bright, very cute with minimal decor. You order at a tablet on the counter, and they call you to come and get it when it is ready, so don't expect a lot of service. It was a quick walk from where we were staying near Pike's Place Market. We definitely hope to come back on a future trip.

Yelp
You'll never meet a tastier bread bowl! Food: I ordered the Stroganoff Boat and I have no complaints. It's cheesy, buttery, substantial, but not too heavy. The bread component is lightweight with a crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior. Ambiance: a cute cafe in a great location, just walking distance from the waterfront. Not too noisy, but it gets crowded quickly. Service: order at the counter and wait for your order to be called! It is sort of like a cafeteria -- pay first, finish your food, bus your table, and go! Tip: come early! The lines start quickly. If you're lucky, you can find street parking nearby.

Yelp
From the warm, soft bread and gooey cheese. The perfection of eggplant and tomatoes this meal was an absolute treat! Huge portion that took me all day to eat. Super friendly service despite kiosk ordering. Cool vibes with warm interior. Tables are close but not too close. A five star restaurant all the way. Next time, bacon and beans flavor. Sounds weird but I know it will be delicious! Go now! Parking is well, downtown Seattle. A public lot is nearby and there is street parking. I recommend public transportation to go the city. It will also give you a reason to walk off the huge breakfast and eat more! lol.

Yelp
I've never had Georgian cuisine before, nor did I really know what a Khachapuri is. However Kenji Alt-Lopez had posted good things about this place, so when the opportunity arose to try it out, I jumped. I was pleasantly surprised! LOGISTICS A small storefront on the corner, pretty much everything here is self serve from utensils to water. Ordering is done via tablet and you pick it up when they call out your order. There is indoor seating but it would be limited for small groups - definitely better for smaller crowds. Although the storefront / environment may seem like fast food... it does take time for the food to come out, which they warn may take 15-30 minutes. Worth the wait for how hot and fresh they come out! FOOD Khachapuri is basically a bread boat with savory fillings. They come our piping hot... and the bread is delicious! I don't care for the crust on pizzas, but in this case I kept eating the bread to dip it into toppings. Since we came here roughly 1.5 hours before closing, so the chicken and stroganoff option were not available to order. Keep that in mind if you decide to come here for a late meal. Adjaruli Boat: Despite its simplicity, this was the better one between the two I got to sample. The cheese and yolk combo is heavenly - very savory and flavorful with a great running / gooey texture. Buttery too, but it never felt too greasy. I was amazed how good it was despite how simple it looked, and it went GREAT with the bread. Lobiani Boat: Since the chicken and stroganoff was out, I wanted an option that had a little protein. This was basically half Adjaruli and half topped with red beans, bacon, and banana peppers. The bacon was more like Canadian bacon to me and the beans were good (disclaimer, not a huge fan of beans) - but if I'm being honest, they were a little bland compared to the side with the Adjaruli filling of cheese and egg. If anything mixing it was a little worse since while it made the bean half more savory / tasty... it took away from the Adjaruli side. OVERALL Great food for the price paid, especially for the quality and flavor of what seems like a simple meal. At first I thought it wouldn't be filling given the size... but I forget how filling bread can be. I was very full and only really finished the filling part of the Lobiani and maybe half of the outer bread, Coming back to this review, I had no idea this was meant to be a breakfast / brunch food. It reminded me more of an exotic pizza, but more delicious and interesting to eat! I really want to come back to eat the Adjaruli... but to also try the chicken one. It's also within walking distance of the Seattle Aquarium and other local attractions, so a good meal no matter what time the day!

Yelp
Forgot to post this review from recent Seattle travels. Skalka was bookmarked in my Yelp based on reviews and their menu intrigued me to try Eastern European cuisine. The location is slightly further past the touristy Pike Place Market, but within walking distance from downtown area. It's a clean, casual, bright eating place with dining area. I tried the stroganoff khachapuri and it was divine! The bread boat was freshly baked and all the components (including egg and pickles) perfectly complemented each other. There were alot of customers picking up their orders to go. I will remember to return during future travels here.

Yelp
In Seattle's embrace, a bread bowl affair, Khachapuri whispers, a culinary flair. Little bread wonders, from Georgia's embrace, Cheese-filled bowls, a delightful grace. A week departed, and sadness weaves, Leaving behind this haven of bread bowl sleeves. To snoop I dared, curiosity a guide, A national dish, on Seattle's tide. Self-order kiosks, a technological guide, Choices aplenty, in culinary stride. Fifteen to thirty, the minutes unfold, Lines may dance, so plan, be bold. A table secured, water on the side, Condiments waiting, with flavors to guide. Stroganoff shared, a tender meat tale, Juicy and soft, in the yolk's trail. Runny and rich, a cheese melody, Pickles on top, a symphony. Crust usually scorned, but not this time, Even the boyfriend's, a flavor climb. Eggplant encore, the second round, Every crumb savored, a taste profound. Share with a friend, for filling delight, In Seattle's haven, a culinary height. Must-try decree, when in Seattle's hue, Khachapuri dreams, come and pursue.

Yelp
Small place with fast service. Order at the counter with a tablet and you'll get a text when your food is ready. Tasty dishes. Lots of cheese so if you're lactose

Yelp
This restaurant was better than most of the restaurants we went to in Seattle in 2023. This is easily a 5/5 star restaurant and we cannot wait to go back! We arrived at 2 PM on a Saturday, and the restaurant was halfway empty. The sign by the self check out informs you that it will take 15 to 30 minutes for your order, so we were pleasantly surprised that our order of two boats were completed within about 15 minutes. It's hard to explain how delicious the fresh-from-the-oven khachapuri bread smells - it's not a sourdough bread (it is not sour at all), but that is the closest bread I can think of because of the richness of the flavor and the crispy crust is crispy. Our group enjoyed the chicken boat, stroganoff boat, and adjaruli boat. $17 is not cheap for lunch, but the portions were large - I could not finish mine and my husband finished his only because he was so hungry today. If we go back, we plan on ordering three boats to split for four people (getting three boats for three people was a mistake ).

Yelp
HOLY CRAP! I'm visiting from out of state and stumbled upon this lil place. I cannot bring to explain how this food tastes. It was easily my favorite meal I had in Seattle. It's a self serve Kiosk and took about 15mins to get my food. I had nothing better to do so I had no problem waiting. Get there early because people start to pour in around 9:30-10am. Limited seating because of that reason. Definitely a large portion. You get what you pay for! I couldn't finish it!

Yelp
A great brunch place before heading to the aquarium, I've been eyeing this place for a while since I've never had Georgian food before and it certainly did not disappoint. The freshly baked bread, the cheese mixed with the egg, the spices with the chicken - so good! We probably could have shared one because we were struggling to finish it towards the end (but it was so delicious). Be sure to grab a seat as soon as you enter and then go order your food as seats are limited. Everything is self service (which I personally prefer because then I'm not at the mercy of the waiter to get extra napkins), except if you order the coffee (it's free when you check in!). Will definitely head back when friends are in town.

Yelp
Freshly made, bread is so soft and delicious! It's in the bread people! The beef stroganoff had the perfect amount of spice, and it tastes more like ground beef than shredded (which I prefer anyway). The egg and cheese and all of it just feels like dipping sauces for the bread around it. Super delicious! All you need is a few items on the menu and this is the perfect example! Simplicity and simply delicious. Very simple food to table experience. Not much service, you order at the front via kiosk and get a number. No servers just orders being yelled out. :) Very cute OG IG pics of customers on the wall too. Thank you Georgia!

Yelp
Ill keep it short and to the point, Go. Walk in, order at the kiosk, grab a seat and wait for your order number. The food was amazing. We had the Lobiani for dine-in, it took about 15 minutes to come out. The coffee was good. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend Skalka. Wow. Yum. Don't doubt yourself-- just go.

Yelp
Saw this while scrolling through yelp as one does when in a town with so many food choices. I'm so glad we stopped and enjoyed an amazing breakfast. We got here around 11:30 or so and it ended up being the perfect time. Shortly after it got pretty busy. I ordered the stroganoff boat. Wow it was so tasty. The bread that is served in I a perfect vessel for this creamy, tasty dish. I would say this is a must go if you are ever in The Seattle area. This was a new dish to me. I know I'll come back next time I visit.

Yelp
We got the stroganoff and lobiani boats. Both were good. I preferred the lobiani while the husband preferred stroganoff. I talked to a customer from Georgia while I was there and she said the cheese (only) one is the traditional one she had in Georgia. I liked the food but maybe wouldn't eat there again.
