"Laid back vibes here from the waterfront chill dining room to the picnic tables outside on the deck make it the perfect place to enjoy a tray of steamed crabs. The chef also prepares creative seafood dishes, from the popular “orange crush” tuna bowl to a crispy oyster BLT. Afterwards, climb up the stairs and take in the rooftop views of Rockhold Creek over the two-story outdoor bar with a Jalapeno Pier paloma in hand." - Claudia Rosenbaum

I’ve visited Skippers many, many times but I am not someone who typically leaves reviews. I attended their recent wine pairing dinner and it was fabulous! From the presentation, to the food, to the service and the wine.. I enjoyed every minute! Dave and Jessica always take the time to visit with their customers and they always make you feel welcome. I left the event knowing that I will be back for the next one, if not sooner.

Google
We came for the 5 course wine dinner yesterday night. The food was phenomenal, the wine pairings were good, and great service. They came out between every course to explain the food and wine. It was just an all around pleasant experience. I can't wait to hear about another event in the future.

This place has potential to be great.. I’ll start there! Food is great when made correctly. My first visit (August), I’d give 2.5 stars. Zach was our server and was great! From the pictures, you can see all that was ordered. I loved the crab dip with the pretzel bread and the crab crusted oysters. I also ordered the dynamic duo which to my disappointment came out cold. It wasn’t even lukewarm. The whiskey sirloin was cool too. The grapefruit crush was yummy. Just has a lot of pulp. My second visit was much better in October. I ended up getting the rockfish which was delicious! My soup was piping out. And the raw oysters were fresh. Cozy vibe in there and they also have outdoor seating for nice days.

Google
Really enjoyed dinner at Skipper’s. The location is really unbeatable, right on the water surrounded by boats. The service was excellent, the staff were friendly, the band was really good, and we had a nice meal. My only complaint would be somewhat smaller serving sizes than you can find at other similar places around the bay - but that’s a minor issue as the quality is very good.

Google
Had dinner here on Sat night. $190 for a dozen crabs, one steak dinner, 1 cocktail, 1 soda. Pretty pricey imo. The Service was poor and the parking was flooding. Other times we had great service but not this time. I hope it improves, as I won't let one bad visit spoil my future visits.

I had the pleasure of being served by Dylan during my recent visit, and I was beyond impressed with the level of service. Dylan was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, checking in just the right amount to ensure we had everything we needed. He helped me navigate the drink and food options, offering personalized recommendations that were absolutely spot-on. Beyond the fantastic service and friendly personality created a welcoming atmosphere that made the entire visit enjoyable. It’s rare to encounter such a professional, yet personable server who truly cares about providing a memorable experience. If you’re lucky enough to have Dylan take care of you, you’re in for an exceptional time. They go above and beyond to make your visit seamless, enjoyable, and unforgettable!

Google
i must say, i really enjoyed the hospitality and service of the hostess especially since she was new. thanks guys! the only issue is i hadn’t eaten all day after long flights, and we went out. i ordered the crab chicken sandwich and now you can guess where im at… both ends too.

Google
we had a taste and seafood craving the whole summer and decided to come to Skipper’s for Labor Day weekend. It was so delicious we had a great time, enjoyed the food, atmosphere and good vibes. I will definitely come back here again

Yelp
July13, 2024 Won't forget this day, wife and I were sitting at the bar and Trump was holding a rally, we had just ordered 2 of the Mrs. Maryland sandwiches and everyone in the bar was watching the TVs. Trump turned his head and then we saw him wipe his ear and next he was tackled. The sandwiches are excellent you get a crab cake and shrimp salad who would have ever thought to put these two together, oh Skippers did and it's good. Maybe they could try a soft crab with lobster salad? Don't want to get to excited can't wait to return to have this again.

Yelp
This is a great location for a full afternoon of dinner and a tiki cruise right at that pier. We had good service great food. The orders were MRS MARYLAND CLUB Shrimp Salad / Skipper's Crab Cake / Mixed Greens / Tomato / Smoky Bacon / Remoulade / Toasted Sourdough / 18 . It was huge and delicious. Another dish was TUNA TSUNAMI Blackened Tuna / Cilantro Rice / Seaweed Salad / Pineapple Coconut Slaw / Skip's Spicy / Chili Carlic Sauce / 17. One of the best I've had. Then there was CHICKEN N' GRAVY Hand Dipped Buttermilk Chicken Breast / Southern White Gravy / Garlic Smashed Potatoes / Chef's Vegetable / 21. It was a very impressive plate. The cocktails do not pack a punch. Most couldn't taste any alcohol which was a disappointment, but I did order an extra shot in the side for the drink. Overall skippers is delicious. We heard the desserts are fabulous, but we were too full to even try and we were catching the tiki cruise that was down by the pier it's a great day spent when you do both. 4 starts because if the drinks.

Yelp
1st I have to give our server Hunter all the praise! He was fantastic! We had a reservation for 10, 14 showed up. We were celebrating a birthday and Hunter did not miss a beat! Drinks were timely and flowing, food came out correctly despite the comings and goings/seat changes of us girls. View is gorgeous, restaurant is so cute. I love the number of bathrooms on each side. Food was delicious. Crab cakes and crab dip were YUM! Fried pickles, so good. My friend had the nachos and shared. The entire table loved them. Overall, great dining experience!

Yelp
This place is consistently good and a great place to visit in the summer. We went there recently on an unusually slow Saturday night and the bar and kitchen did not have their A team. Hubs ordered a smoked maple cocktail which was neither smoked nor mapled. I ordered the pimento panini- I think it had BBQ sauce instead of fig jam and was served on a thick steak roll and not sourdough bread. (The house made chips were excellent though). Our friend had shrimp and grits but potatoes were subbed for grits. My point is that subs can be ok - but just let your customers know that what they will receive is different from the menu description.

Lia M.

Yelp
This was a nice little getaway from the city. We were here mid-afternoon on a Saturday, and while we were seated immediately, we did use overflow parking. Service is slow, but that wasn't an issue because we knew that prior to visiting. Our server was friendly and so were the hosts. Our food was good. Can't go wrong with a burger and a chicken sandwich. I loved my sandwich. Drinks weren't great. Definitely watered down and flavorless, making this a future skip if wanting cocktails. Vibes were fun and it was nice to be on the water.

Deb W.

Yelp
Found them on IG and it was well worth the hike. It was a beautiful sunny day so needless to say it was packed. We skipped the wait but eating at the bar which is a genius idea as it was closer to the water. This restaurant is located on the water and the food was perfect. Bring a candle to keep the flies away but I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Anna F.

Yelp
We hung out in the Tiki bar to listen to live music. The ladies at the bar were nice and kept refreshing my friends' beer. We were there for 4 hours and had the crab dip with pretzel bread. It was good and ordered several drinks. I really enjoyed the grape Gatorade shot that Taylor made. My friends had been to Skippers several times and had always liked sitting at the Tiki bar. I like the tiki bar because there was a nice breeze that kept blowing and kept us cool.

Julie J.

Yelp
We like this seafood restaurant, can taste local fresh seafood, and water view. Best service, very friendly waitress, we are happy be there, will visit again.

Yelp
I loved the pier. I loved the vibe of this place. Perfect for lunch and a drink by the water I just wish there was more of an area to walk around. The food was JUST okay. My mojito made up for it though!! I had the crab cake sandwich with Chesapeake chips it was pretty good. The single crab cake with a side of mac and cheese and hush puppies the crab cake was tasty but it was cold once I got Into the middle of it. The mac and cheese was lacking flavor, but the hush puppies were good. The service was fast and the waiter was very nice friendly and attentive.

Deb W.

Yelp
Treated my grandmother to a 93rd birthday celebration with friends. The staff was welcoming and accommodated our every need. The food was scrumptious! Thanks to the Chef and staff!

Kiki C.

Yelp
Day well spent in a very welcoming, friendly atmosphere great waitress and staff where the food was awesome live music was great and it's on the water!! I had the crabs which were excellent! Also the beignets were great too! My man had the soup which was okay, oysters and fish meal was great! All in all it was an awesome time, we will return

Jane R.

Yelp
The view- outside patio was scenic. Ambience a chill place to sit and pick a dozen crabs with a live band- Summer at its best. Hard shells just the right amount of Old Bay. Service- Hunter was exceptional! Attentive service without overdoing. A must visit if you are in the area. Seafood on the water- amazing!

Jim K.

Yelp
Great place food drinks parking service and the deck is amazing. Nice place to sit back with friends

Sue W.

Yelp
I had not been in for quite a while and saw the Seafood Poppie on the menu. What a treat! Perfectly cooked with lots of shrimp, crab and rockfish in a chowder base with perfect pastry crust. I will return soon!

Amanda C.

Yelp
waited 20 mins while watching employee after employee hang out and chat with friends sitting at adjacent tables. I finally tracked someone down...and still got the run around. took forever to get my food because it was sitting at the employee table ‍ Took yet another 20 mins to get a watered down bloodmary... just to continue to hear the staff cuss from the kitchen while my kids were at the table. I was discussed by the entire experience!

Ronee C.

Yelp
Our group of five ladies thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on the porch this evening. Trey was an excellent waiter! He was so knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating of our requests. The food was excellent! We are not from this area but hope to visit again and will certainly return to Skipper's Pier. Thank You for a lovely time on the water.

Katherine O.

Yelp
One of the female servers doesn't like democrats and made nasty remarks about her republican political beliefs to our table. She wasn't even our server. My friends and I were trying to enjoy our lunch, but she ruined it with her purposely hateful remarks. If you're a democrat, I wouldn't recommend going here. No free speech at this restaurant.

Randell N.

Yelp
Last night we wanted to go somewhere we had been before for something seafood, something good. We decided upon Skippers Pier. I started with a dozen oysters on the half shell. Beautiful Chesapeake Bay Oysters, very plump and tasty. Our entree's were equally interesting! My wife had Crab Tacos and a side of Onion Rings. Very unique, I have had many different tacos with different variations of proteins, but these were extra special. I had a nice bowl of Steamed Mussels nice and buttery with a hint of spice. I have had some nice mussels from time to time, but never with pepper flake. I loved this dish,it had a nice piece of buttered garlic bread. The service was exceptional. With the problems being experienced with obtaining wait staff, this was a big happy surprise. The ambience here was very nautical and not overly crowded, much as we expected.

Bob K.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time. The food was good and the drinks were as well. Kendall was our waitress who was great.

Evan P.

Yelp
Inconsistent food. Sometimes it's great, next time is meh. Great atmosphere and views. Service is solid. Shrimp tacos were bland.

Elaine F.

Yelp
We drove down to Deale & had lunch today for our first visit to Skipper's Pier. The rainclouds were just clearing & the sun finally came out. Country musuc was blaring from the speakers inside. We ordered two glasses of Pinot Grigio, two soups (one Maryland crab & one cream of crab), and two salads. The bill came to $75. The Black Eyed Susan salad was pretty tasty. We were sitting by the wndow. They can slide open the doors to outside, which they did half way through our meal. The breeze was strong and it had not warmed up much yet, so the chilly wind hurried us along to finish. I was also disappointed about a miscommunication with the manager, as I hoped to accomplish another errand today. Even though she knew I was coming and I confirmed two days ago, I was told I would need to come back. The restaurant is about a half an hour from Annapolis, so I don't think that I will make it. I think they cater mostly to Deale & South County locals.

Jesse Y.

Yelp
Skipper's the real deal and offering the trifecta , superb seafood, great staff and awesome drinks. Located at the end of Drum Point Road, this restaurant offers an unobstructed Herring Bay. Came here with family for the first time and was asking halfway through dinner service when can we return next. I've been to many seaside restaurants in Maryland and this one is definitely top three.

Trulea C.

Yelp
We live this restaurant and it's a local favorite we visit often. The food is great and they are very kid friendly. My husband and I are hooked on the fried green tomato appetizer. We love watching the boats and birds around the harbor.

Dana H.

Yelp
This was my second visit at this establishment and both times were a disappointment. Will not return and waste my money on food that does not meet expectations. The crab soup was very tarty tomatoes base and overpowered with onions. Crab soup with no crab. Ordered crab cake with collard greens and hush puppies. Sad to say only the hushpuppies were decent. Collard greens were too sweet. Should have known not to order collard greens but the crab cake. Whatever is the base ingredients was not good. Weird taste. We also had the poboy sandwich with bad lettuce. The experience was not good and quality of food was disgusting. The place was packed and maybe the location does not give many options for food choices but the price you pay the food needs to be better. This is a last time visit for us.

Blynda M.

Yelp
Our main dishes came out before our appetizers and soup. 5 minutes after we got our meals the appetizers and soup came out. Most of our food was cold by the time we could eat it. When I pointed this out to the waitress she told me to chill because they were short handed. Chesapeake chicken was dry and very little crab meat on top. Very little crab meat in the cream of crab soup. If I am paying full price for a meal, I expect it to be served appropriately and not cold. If they were short staffed...tell me up front so I can set expectations. We love Skippers but this was the 2nd time in a row that our meals were served before the appetizers. If I am spending $125 on dinner, it should not be subpar. Do better Skippers!

Jason J.

Yelp
This is a nice off the beaten path restaurant with some of the best views and atmosphere you'll find on the water. This place is great for special occasions but also great for a family dinner. The service is pretty good and kid-friendly! (Even small kids!). Loved the food and will definitely come back in the future.

Hawkins M.

Yelp
Food and service here is decent; nothing to die for. However the on the water, outdoor ambiance makes this a great place to spend the evening and watch the sunset on the water while sipping on a cold drink. Cheers!

J H.

Yelp
Food was ok, service was the worst I have had in years. I literally had to go get a refill for myself. If you're going for the view sure if you're going to make an impression with someone wouldn't recommend it to my enemies. Unless you're a regular or local they don't care about you.

Tim L.

Yelp
Like others mentioned, getting here can seem a little strange as you're driving deep into what seems like a pure residential area. The drinks, bar, and deck/pier are what most people come here for and apparently they're known for their crushes. The food is mostly ok but on has been somewhat inconsistent the few visits I've made. There's also an outdoor wooden ship play area for kids. The service is a little haphazard at times at the host station mainly due to what seems like seasonal teenage employees, but on the other hand kudos to being a restaurant that still provides opportunities for the next generation to gain some work experience.

Jeff M.

Yelp
The service was terrible. We did have a large group, but the service was just bad. Called the manager and he did nothing. Our server was sitting behind station talking on the phone. They of course had a large party tip added with a 20%. Our server did not deserve 20% and they refused to break the check up in more than 6 checks. Now the food. Soda and water tasted stale, something in the lines or something. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. The crab cake was good. But for the price, small portions. I am on vacation, but will never ever come back.

April S.

Yelp
I could not believe this restaurant was at the end of a housing development. Goals! I need to live here so I can walk here every day. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by friendly servers. We asked to sit outside. We were seated at an excellent bench seat with an umbrella right off of the pier. It was a beautiful day and a lovely view. We started off with a Caribbean Colada and an Orange Crush. I did not know Maryland was famous for Orange Crushes and now I know. For appetizer we got the Fried Green Tomatoes and Chesapeake Crab Dip. Fried Green Tomatoes Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The tomatoes came topped with a shrimp salad, remoulade and grilled corn salsa. The combination was amazing. I was definitely not expecting the flavor explosion. Chesapeake Crab Dip The crab dip came with warm Bavarian pretzels. This was the best crab dip that I have ever had. I think it was the cheese. The soft pretzels were a great addition. Best crab dip ever and I've had a lot of crab dips. It was so hard to pick an entree. We both decided on the same thing, the Mrs. Maryland. The Mrs. Maryland is a club sandwich consisting of a blue crab cake, Old Bay Shrimp salad, lettuce, tomato and smoky bacon stacked with toasted sourdough bread. We were full and could only eat half of our club, so we took the other halves home to eat for lunch the next day. We also the Double Chocolate Smith Island cake to go. Honey, when I tell you this was the most moist and chocolate filled cake ever, IT was the most moist chocolate filled cake ever. I also took the Summer Strawberry Beignets home for my daughter and she said they were very good. I enjoyed my food so much I went back the next day. I have referred several satisfied friends and family members to Skippers Pier Restaurant and Dock Bar. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back again really soon.

Ryan S.

Yelp
Great water views, dock seating available, and always a tasty menu - Skippers Pier has been a staple in our family for many years. We have a family farm that we visit, and Skippers Pier is often our meeting spot for the weekend visit. We have brought many friends from out of the area, and it's always a great experience. The service is very hometown welcoming feel, and the food is always fresh, hot (or cold, if that's the dish), and delicious. Definitely recommend!

Devon K.

Yelp
Food was good. Vibe was nice. Near the water so it's super chill. Drinks were delicious and our server was nice! The oysters had mud all over them which was a first for us- we weren't fond of it. And they were kind of stacked on each other so the mud got into the oysters a little bit. Without the mud they would've been great! I appreciate that the seafood is fresh but I'd like the oysters clean. Other than that the other food was really tasty! The live music was also a really nice touch we enjoyed that a lot.

Vivian J.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! The location was a bit remote for me but well worth the drive on this rainy day. My colleague picked the location and the service and food was great. We ordered a dozen large crabs and they were full and delicious. I had the corn on the cob and it was sweet. We shared Hush Puppies and they were good too. That was my first time having corn in them. The drinks were made perfect. I didn't care for the bread pudding and they may wish to rethink the recipe. Our waiter was awesome, and he was Very attentive to our needs and came over to check on us often. I throughly enjoyed my visit and the views are spectacular, if you love the water. I hope to get back there sooner than later.

Jenna D.

Yelp
We always have a good time here. The waitstaff has also been good each time. This time the secondary waitstaff (bussers and food runners) left something to be desired but our waitress was sweet, attentive, and accurate. Food is good: soft shells great, crab cakes vary- sometimes they are stuffed with meat, other times more filler than meat, hush puppies are great, all sandwiches we have had have been very good, and the desserts with good coffee are a must do (and I am not a fan of dessert). Come prepared for all temperatures. A/C is very effective. It is June today and I am having to wear a sweater. You should come. We will be back!

Erin W.

Yelp
If you are interested in over priced food and very loud place. This is the place for you. Settle in for a LONG wait for food. Not my kind of place, that is for sure

Rob S.

Yelp
UPDATE: After a poor initial experience on Mother's Day, management was kind enough to respond and invite us back out and our second visit was absolutely fantastic! We actually drove an hour and 20 minutes to give it another try, were blessed with warm weather on the 29th of October, and there was no better place to be than out on their beautiful pier - table right next to the water! We had the added benefit of watching them prepare for Halloween festivities on the bar side, with much of the staff dressed festively for the occasion. In spite of those preparations, the service was prompt and Gabby (in full kitten attire) was wonderful! I ordered the half-pound Pier Burger, but - as I smelled seafood in the air and didn't wish to completely turn my back on it - I asked for it to be topped with crab dip. Gabby said no problem and it was a yummy off-menu creation for sure. My mate ordered the Chesapeake Chicken Sandwich which was equally delicious. Combined with some Old-Bay dusted kettle chips and fries for our 3 year old and a few refreshing glasses of wine and an Orange Crush, it was a fantastic meal with a beautiful view. Can't wait to come back when the doldrums of winter pass and the weather warms up again. Please to say that this place makes good on all of the positive reviews!

T. R.

Yelp
Service bad, slow, waitress gave us no attention. Food, ok, crabs on Tuesday night, terrible. Won't go back

Jane E.

Yelp
Great food, great service. There are specials like prime rib Fridays!!! Long list of happy hour drinks

Michele B.

Yelp
Another nice spot well hidden in Deale Drinks were good Crabs were fresh and heavy Calamari was really nice Definitely a nice spot

Jennifer G.

Yelp
If i could, i would leave it at zero stars. What a horribly bad experience. It's my Husbands birthday and we wanted to take the family(dog and baby) out to eat. This place looked good based on reviews but the staff is HORRIBLE! There was a outdoor seating but they wouldn't allow us there because we had a dog( which made zero sense) so they told us we could only go to the dock that was 21 and over with the dog, but they didn't know what i was gonna do about "THAT" and pointed to our child! Will never recommend- will never go back. They didn't have any seating for a baby and a dog in the back area anyway, and literally referred to our child as a "that"....basically, I'll be writing reviews all over the place about this. NOT KiD AND DOG FRIENDLY

Jenny C.

Yelp
Nice location if it's not too hot. Lousy, soft mushy hard crabs. The worst. One didn't even have anything in its cavity.

Drew G.

Yelp
I have ate here a few times prior to tonight's encounter. First off the hostess staff was great. Kudos to you. The waiter. Never got his name but I will say got our drink order after waiting around 10 mins. A table seated behind us got served before us. Then drinks arrive. A good amount of time goes by. He comes up and asks for our order. Easily 27-30 minutes after we place a order our food arrives. The server asks if I'd like another beer. Just to never be served one. I had to ask a random waitress after 12 minutes if I could get another one to be brought one in a plastic cup. The food had to been sitting under a heat lamp. This is not the Skipper's I know and love. Please reach out to me to resolve this issue. I added a photo of the top of the receipt for reference on server

Karen P.

Yelp
Everything was great. Calamari appetizer cooked perfectly. Cold crab soup had great flavor. It could have had a little more crab though. Shrimp and Grits were really good. Really liked the collard greens that come with it. Favorite was the shrimp and scallop linguine. Also got the Bay trio and thought it was small for the price. It came with 3 oysters which were prepared well, one crab cake and a small piece of rockfish on a fried green tomato. They forgot the tomato at first but quickly brought it when asked. Also tried the onion rings, garlic mashed potatoes and hush puppies. Hush puppies were my favorite. The iced tea tasted homemade and delicious. Servers were friendly and attentive. Loved the view on the outside deck too.

Jayde T.

Yelp
This place is a must! The staff was very personable and had such amazing energy. The presentation is not the prettiest, but the flavor of the food makes up for it and more! The crab dip was savory and packed with flavor and the pretzel sticks were the perfect vehicle for the dip. The cream of crab soup was the perfect balance of flavors and was not overpowering. The crab soup had small bits of crab throughout, which was perfect. The Christmas decorations were a bonus and made this place even more cozy. Love love love!

Joyce T.

Yelp
We went to Skippers Pier for our Valentine date. The lobster on their special menu was delicious. Fried oysters, mussels were great! The view is fantastic. Our waitress was really great. We've gone there before, but it had been a while. Still a great place to go to for a day or night out. Highly recommend Skippers to anyone who has not been there yet.

Ralph A.

Yelp
From the beginning to the end Jessica and her team did a wonderful job for my brides 60th surprise b-day party. The Top deck is awesome with beautiful views all around. The Crab Feast was amazing with the best cream of crab I have ever had. The staff was great. Live band was below and was an awesome bonus. The prices were fair and reasonable. The whole event was priceless and Skippers Pier was amazing !

Najula J.

Yelp
Visited here tonight. The doors to the back bar kept blowing open and our table was being blasted with freezing cold strong breeze. After asking many time was there anything that could be done, the just simply said no they can't do anything the doors would remain open from the wind and when staff and patrons went through the door. My dad go so upset he demanded to be seated away from the door, at which time the waiter was heard complaining steps away. They agreed to move us. Next we get our meals. I've been here 3 times before so I was used to quality. But this meal. And out sloppy looking. Like it was thrown on the plate. I got the rockfish meal. And usually it's stacked nice, and drizzled with sauce. It was thrown all about the plate. All the flavors were off, something wasn't right. As I ate the meal the crab pieces were ice cold, the rockfish was super fishy tasting, very off, it's usually really fresh. I kept taking bites thinking this is not good. I tore off the breading to the fried green tomatoes and they were bruised and old. They were not tart and sour with flavor. I smelled them and they smelt like rotting trash. I told the waiter, nothing happened, comps were made. My mom got the same meal and was just as sloppy. I'm so upset I talked this place up to be a good place to eat, it was really bad. So disappointed. And on top of it, my stomach began immediately hurting, and I continue to feel uneasy. Not quality food like I've had in the past. We left as soon as we could. And because I was with guests and family I held back my speech. I plan to call tomorrow. But this was terrible.
