This causal oyster bar is fantastic! The quality of the oysters and food are amazing for the price point. I definitely recommend this place, I was here for a work trip with colleagues so we ordered a wide variety of foods. And no complaints about anything!!

Tiffany S.

Google
The space downsized and it is counter service great for a quick bite or sit down and visit. Clean and staff are always friendly. Pictured is the grilled grouper sandwich and salad as well as the lobster grinder. Both dishes were delicious.

Google
Very relaxing and fast casual place with great selection from guilty pleasures to healthy. My husband got the Clobster Grilled Cheese (get me a cot after to nap!) and I got the Ahi Tuna Rice Bowl - so light it gave us the best of both worlds. We indulged in a few oysters and they were so fresh and delicious!

Chris S.

Google
For a chain, it's probably one of the best lobster chains i've ever had. Everything was very fresh, and everybody working there was really friendly. We'll definitely go back.

Google
This place is AMAZING! My friend and I are from Las Vegas visiting Indy for the DCI World Championships. We stumbled across this place which was only a lime scooter ride away from our AirBnB. It was my first time trying East Coast Oysters and they are SO fresh. The Lobster roll was mouth-watering! The toast was perfectly buttered and toasted. We HAD to try lobster mac-n-cheese and it did NOT disappoint! The workers here are so nice and the vibe here is very welcoming. Definitely a place to go and try!

Mary Grace M.

Google
We had an amazing first time at Slapfish! Service was very friendly and helpful. My wife and I both had the lobster rolls and they were so rich and delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try other menu options! Also a good selection of alcoholic beverages, reasonably priced. Thank you for having women’s basketball on as well!

Google
I just had my first experience at slap fish and it was incredible. Their atmosphere was well put together and very clean. The food was delicious and there is something for everyone to enjoy. The service was awesome. Adam, one of the workers, made sure we had the best experience and took the time to talk to me and my family, which made our time there even better! I would definitely recommend going to slap fish!

Google
I'm a lifelong Hoosier, but I love lobster rolls. Always get them when I'm on vacation and I've been on a long-term quest trying to find a great roll in the city. Happy to say today I found it, excellent food, great atmosphere, and even my non seafood liking wife found a couple items she liked. Highly, highly recommend.

Yelp
I just had to look Slapfish up after it was recommended to me by the hotel receptionist at the hotel I stayed at while in the city of Indianapolis. I was pleased to find that it was only .2 miles in distance from the hotel. And its 4.7 star rating out of 1,500+ on Uber Eats was the assurance I needed that I would have a quality experience next to the recommendation by the receptionist. Looking through the menu, I took interest in items like the lobster deviled eggs, clobster grilled cheese, fish 'n chips, lobster tots, reel fish sandwich, grilled fish bowl, slapfish burger, grilled cheese, and the mac n cheese. Out of all that caught my eye on their extensive menu, I ended up ordering their grilled fish bowl because of what it consisted of. Whether it be Grubhub or Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it is convenient. Most of the time my orders are completed upon my arrival or near complete. By the time I arrived at Slapfish my order was waiting behind the counter during this ordering experience. Picking up was just confirming my name, order, and I was well on my way back to my hotel. I am grateful to have had a smooth online ordering experience because the likelihood of me ordering online again is very high. "Noooo!" After opening the brown paper bag with my grilled fish bowl inside, I received everything I had ordered, except utensils, but thankfully I was able to retrieve utensils from the hotel I stayed at. Now the rice was the first thing my tastebuds tasted! The rice was seasoned with herb rice sauce, hand-picked lettuce, and honey lime vinaigrette which gave it a taste that I just could not get enough of. And once I paired it with the fried cod, I was on cloud 9 and in love with this meal. I highly recommend the grilled fish bowl if you are looking for a pescatarian option that will surely leave you satisfied taste wise. In closing, I had a great ordering experience as I have indicated in this review of Slapfish. And as it was introduced to me by the hotel receptionist, I share my endorsement of it as well with you all on yelp. Service: 4 | Ambiance: 4 | Food: 5 ~ Good vibes coming your way ~ Thomas G

Yelp
Great fish & chip shop in downtown Indianapolis. Good prices, great food and relaxed vide. Definitely worth a visit

Yelp
Chef Joseph here. Ate lunch at Slapfish today because I wanted raw oysters. The oysters were good but small, two small for the $50 I paid for a dozen. The oysters were just big enough to be sold. When people eat oysters they want them as big as your hand, size you get in New Jersey, New York, Boston.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp called Slapfish since we were looking for seafood. I was 15 min walking distant from our hotel. Food very good. Service also good and the ambiance laidback. Would I come back and eat at this place again, I would. Try Slapfish if you love seafood.

Yelp
We came here on a Friday early evening and were able to be seated right away (the host let us pick where we wanted to sit as well). We were given the menus and advised we could go to the counter to order or order via the QR code and ToastTab. We went with the phone option and it worked perfectly. We ordered the Lobster Deviled Eggs and they were amazing - I'd come back just for that single item!!! For entrees, we got the Oyster Roll and the Hawaiian Bowl. I loved mine and my husband thought his was fantastic too. We wrapped it up with the Key Lime pie. He loved it but I thought it was ok. The filling was perfect but I didn't love the crust (not bad, I have just had better). Service was fast and really friendly. We loved our first visit and I'm looking forward to our next one. Thanks Slapfish team!!!

Yelp
One of my favorite seafood places in the USA. Staff was very friendly and helpful with deciding what to order. The lobster roll is one of the best I have had. Buttered roll, loaded with warm lobster that's cooked perfectly and the lemon adds a nice layer of flavor to it. Coming back to this place next time I'm in Indianapolis!

Yelp
We needed a quick late night dinner and popped into Slapfish. The space is very inviting and has a fun atmosphere. The counter associate was super friendly and helped us make decisions. He suggested a couple of options that we ordered and really enjoyed. We shared the lobster deviled eggs. Really interesting presentation and very delicious. We also had the lobster tots. Similar to a hush puppy with a slightly spicy Sauce. We also shared the shrimp roll with fries and coleslaw. The worker suggested that we get the fried version and he was not wrong. Tons of shrimp with a buttery roll, crispy fries, and their coleslaw is quite good. Not the cheapest meal you'll have, but the portion sizes are good as this was plenty for the two of us to share. I live on the opposite end of Mass Ave and I forget this is such a great find as you get closer to the city.

Yelp
Really great food. Big portions and fish and oysters were pretty fresh. Love that there are healthy options. Full cocktail bar available. Counter or table side order via the web. They'll bring the food to your table. Food for 3 adults and 2 kids was $120.

Yelp
Been here couple of times and it's still enjoyable. Ordering is more steamlined now using QR code. Pictures on the menu are helpful. Started with shrimp ceviche, taste was great but serving size was small. Clobster was our 2nd starter and enjoyed it as well, serving size was good. Our main were the traditional lobster roll and lobster boil. The former, you just can't go wrong, the bread is amazing and it was very filling. Latter was also great, lobster meat was already extracted so you don't have to crack and break the shell (but that's the fun part). The lobster tots it came has more filler than lobster meat, and lastly, it came with clam chowder, which was also good, love that creamy and crunchy texture. Overall, food was enjoyable and somewhat filling. Parking is alao great and cheap next to this place. Definitely will come back. Place looks different now and has more seating for bigger groups.

Yelp
Had a great time! So the inside was different than I thought, you order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. They do have a button at the table in case you need anything which I SO appreciate and wish all restaurants did this! Everybody was nice and service was quick! The bathrooms were clean when we went. We ordered the fish sandwich and tacos and also got the linguine dish and instead of the shrimp subbed with salmon and it was perfect for it! The sandwich came with TWO pieces of fish and the salmon went great with the lemon sauce of the pasta. It's on mass ave in the beginning, so you know what that means with parking.

Yelp
I arrived just has they opened at 11 o'clock. I had intended on eating in the restaurant but there was a strong odor of sewer gas they did open the doors and it dissipated rather quickly but it turned me off and I wanted to take the order to go so I ordered the fish and chips the slaw was very good one piece of fish actually had fish in it the other piece was more breading than fish there were other options on the menu that I thought of trying but did not I will return just to see if this was a one off and to try other options on the menuI was glad to read about the counter ordering service or I might have been tempted to just sit down at a booth

Yelp
We came in around 12:30 on a Sunday and we ordered at the counter - no server (honestly it's kinda nice to just serve yourself sometimes in this expensive area) but there was a call button on at the tables! Food came quick. Wish they had more oyster variety, they had their standard ($3) plus one other rotation for $3.50. Poke bowl was evenly portioned with plenty of ahi tuna, multiple sauce options provided. The lobster Mac and cheese and was cooked really well with a unique creamy bake flavor and the tots were huge, really well fried. Hats off for a quality seafood counter on Mass Ave!! They have a little bit of everything.
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
Super friendly staff and food came out quickly. The presentation was gorgeous and so delicious. Love having this option in Indiana. Recommend to all my seafood lovers!

Yelp
I've been to Slapfish twice now and I cannot get over how good the power bowl is! The portions are huge and you're given a lot of protein in each entree. The service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was casual but made you feel like you were near the sea. Love having a healthy seafood option in the area!
google avatar

Tina W.

Yelp
Parking is a challenge as you have to pay during the week to park on the street or pay for parking in the lot next door. It has a nice casual ambience. You take a menu but you go to the counter to order. If busy you can log on through a bar code and place your order. The fish and chips are what you'd expect. The Cole slaw is also what you'd expect. The lobster grinder was a treat with a bit of heat. Not unpleasant. I loved the mix as well as the buttery roll. I would order it again and again. The salad dressing was a nice complement to the salad. I ordered a shrimp ceviche to take back to the hotel. We'll be set for the rest of the day
google avatar

Roger L.

Yelp
I live a few blocks away so Slapfish + Raw Bar (RIP) have been one of my go-to's when I don't know what to eat. The power bowl is actually an incredible value and always hits the spot! Service as of late 2024 is quite low touch with counter tablet ordering but I enjoy the value proposition and convenience.

Yelp
Stopped by SlapFish on Mass Ave and had a great experience! It wasn't busy at all when I went, which was a nice surprise. The service was fast and the food did not disappoint. I had the Clobster Grilled Cheese with fries and it was so good! Perfectly cheesy with just the right amount of seafood. The ambience is super cute too. I always love a good neon sign, it adds a fun touch! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and craving something tasty and a little different.
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is just ok to me. I've tried multiple different items on the menu but still haven't found anything that I love but I will keep trying.
google avatar

Madison D.

Yelp
Service was super friendly. It's walk up-order-seat yourself vibe. They have a full bar, there is no bar seating. Food is good. Drinks were also good.

Yelp
Slapfish is a seafood restaurant located in downtown Indy on Mass. Ave. A year ago, we frequently ate here and it was always delicious. More recently, it's been underwhelming. They used to have an oyster board on the wall (displaying all the different oysters they had each day), but now they just have listed on the menu "east coast oyster" or "west coast oyster" with no names. The waitresses are usually unsure what they have on hand. The oysters themselves lack flavor, don't seem as fresh, and are just not as good as they used to be. As for the other menu items I've tried, I have no complaints. The lobster deviled eggs are a good app. The seared ahi tuna bowl is my favorite entree. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty casual. They usually can get you seated quickly. There's pay to park spots all along mass ave and the surrounding blocks.

Victoria G.

Yelp
Expensive, not nearly as tasty as I expected and the piece of blackened grouper was very small. I was charged extra for the fries even though they came with the meal. I am the Sauce Queen! I absolutely love sauces and dips, however, I did not like any of the three sauces I was served. Very, very unusual for me. The crab and lobster dip appetizer was good but the chips were so salty I couldn't really eat them. Basically I paid way too much money for something I can make better at home. Disappointing.
google avatar

Chad M.

Yelp
Last night was a Carb Load! Grilled Cheese with Lobster Claws and Fries in Clam Chowder (never had this, but wow!) Good grief there was no way that I could finish all it, but it was delicious!

De'Lia K.

Yelp
The rolls were small and expensive but very yummy. The customer service was great! I don't know where else to find good lobster rolls locally so this place would be a good suggestion!
google avatar

Debra G.

Yelp
I wish I had taken photos, but we were hungry and dug right in. I had the Power Bowl, hubby had fish and chips. The Power Bowl was fantastic! Grilled mahi mahi, salmon and shrimp. Under that was brown rice and grilled veggies. The fish and chips came with plenty of fries, a big serve of Cole slaw and the fish was a lovely golden brown. The tartar sauce was delicious! Lighter and smoother than the usual. Love the clean, simple decor and the staff is friendly and efficient.

Yelp
I stopped by Slapfish to grab a bite to eat for dinner after work. It wasn't busy and I was able to order my food immediately. Parking is located outside at the meter. Inside, Slapfish has a very nice ambiance. I ordered food at the bar. They have two sides to the restaurant. The oppose side appears to be more family friendly, while the side with the bar would be perfect for date night or a night out with the girls. I ordered the lobster roll with a side salad and cup of clam chowder for myself, and my son had the fried grouper sandwich with a side of fries. I've had Slapfish before and everything was super fresh, but this time, the roll was on the hard side, but the lobster was plentiful. The clam chowder was good as well. The salad dressing that came on the side reminded me of poppyseed dressing. My son's sandwich looked decent, but the fries didn't seem to be fresh. While I did make this a to go order, I feel the food could have been better. I'll still return, but I think the food may be better if I dine in.
google avatar

Audrey A.

Yelp
I have only gotten Slapfish to-go, so this review is based solely on the food. I have tried both the Grinder and the Lobster Roll and both are equally tasty. While no place can beat the generosity that Maine shows with their rolls, Slapfish does provide a fair amount of filling to bun ratio. It is on a nicely toasted butter brioche bun that holds together nicely and isn't too rich. Sides are your pick and I have gotten both the side salad and slaw. Both were a generous amount and I liked having the refreshing veggies with such a rich sandwich. I hope to be able to dine in the next time I'm craving something from Slapfish.
google avatar

Karen O.

Yelp
Four of us came for lunch after a show. The place is counter service but we were greeted by a hostess with menus and sat down to review. They also have a button at your table and someone will come if you have questions. We went to the counter and placed orders and food and drinks arrived quickly. We ordered Lobster tots and Lobster stuffed deviled eggs. Both were good but I wish the eggs were warm, they were served cold. I ordered fish and chips as well as a friend but I asked for mine blackened. It had a strong fishy flavor but the fried did not. The fries and slaw that came with it were both good. The slaw was unique with pickled onions and shaved carrots and radishes. The tacos were a hit as well as the fish sandwich. They recently remodeled the inside with ship lap and the decor fit the theme. Next time I'm ordering the Lobster roll, I really wanted to order it but recently had dental surgery and stuck to soft foods.

Jade E.

Yelp
Best lobster roll in town! Very cute restaurant. Service was fine but the food is really great!
google avatar

Faith B.

Yelp
I don't think we've had a bad anything here. The happy hour $1 oysters are worth it if you like oysters. Lobster roll is always a good choice and the jalapeno pineapple margarita is my go to.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Went here for lunch during Indy Burger Week, and was not surprised. They had a Mermaid Burger that has this lobster & shrimp dressing that really set it apart. Definitely surf-and-turf in a burger. Solid sweet potato fries, too. Overall, I was impressed - quick service for lunch. Definitely want to return for some proper seafood now.
google avatar

Lorenzo M.

Yelp
First time ever visiting this establishment but I must say the atmosphere of the location is so inviting as it's possesses a lively beach club vibe to it. The service was all around delightful and the wait time for our table and food were almost instantaneous. We began with the poke and chips which tasted very fresh and when combined with the cilantro and pickled onions, it created an even better experience. The lobster taquitos were amazing and really nailed the Mexican - seafood fusion. The lobster dip and chips was probably my least favorite as the dip was a bit rich for my liking however the chips which are served with this dish are the most elite chips out of all chips I've had in my life. The grouper sandwich had so many flavors going on and the fish itself was so tasty however it was a bit too messy for my liking. I really like this place because they're very creative with their dishes and it's something that isn't very common among seafood places.

Jenni E.

Yelp
The service and food was amazing! I was so impressed with the servers even though you order at the counter. They were the perfect amount of attentive
google avatar

Quinn A.

Yelp
The food is good here. I've enjoyed my meal every time. Just dont sit outside. The homeless swarm you begging for money or sit on the patio while screaming and getting drunk on Steele reserve. Staff could careless about booting them.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and staff is very friendly 10/10 yummy trendsetting deliciousness all in one lobster is on point here
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
An absolute GEM! The whole vibe was nautical, but very modern and clean. While you order at the counter, they encouraged you to take a menu and have a seat to decide. Each table had a button to call for help, or more to drink, which was fabulous. We had clobster tots to start - sweet heavens it was divine! Our entrees were just good. Highly recommended the clobster grilled cheese!
google avatar

Victor F.

Yelp
Always delicious food with gluten free options, relaxed atmosphere fit to host small family get togethers. The service is friendly and fast. Plenty of parking space. There is a grocery store in the building with locally made and grown produce.
google avatar

Allyson B.

Yelp
The fresh looking dishes hooked us online. As visitors from out of state, we look for non chain unique dining. Slapfish had some delicious food. We got Lobster tots, Lobster Deviled eggs, a bowl of Clam Chowder, and a Lobster Grilled Cheese sandwich. Everything was beautifully presented, fast and satisfying. I would definitely come back.

Myra M.

Yelp
I should have taken my food before I ate so I could post it but I was so hungry and the food looked fresh and delicious so I ate it all. I ordered clam chowder, topped with crispy bacon. The chowder is just the right consistency and creaminess. Then I had the steamed muscles. Very tender and delicious. The garlic toast was a little firm for my taste but not a big deal. Then I had the grilled mahi-mahi with salad. Sooooo fresh and crunchy. So by the time I thought about giving Slapfish 5 star, the food was all gone. You'll just have to try it for yourself. ....AND the staff are very nice and friendly. I really enjoyed my meal!
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
This place slaps!!! It's a great lunch spot but also a great dinner spot. They have the best clam chowder in the game but what I like getting is the poke bowl. It's fresh and a bunch of food and a mix of beautiful flavors. Other people I come here with like the lobster burrito and they love it but it looks kinda messy to me (sauce on the outside of the tortilla). They have recently done up the bar area and it looks cool. The service is also top notch and friendly.
google avatar

Sigrid W.

Yelp
Once you figure out where to enter, you are golden. At the time of my visit what I thought was the entrance had a sign saying enter at the dine in... next door over had a for lease sign in it... door next to that didn't have any signage... taking a few steps back, I did see that last door had a Slapfish sign atop. Success... I had been here a few times before and always enjoyed not only the look of the place but also the food. It has been consistently good. However, I just experienced a stellar dish. Thought I'd try something new and ordered a shrimp roll, crispy shrimp please. For my side I chose the salad since I know that side salad is fabulous. It's relatively big and besides greens it has a beautiful array of carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes and pickled onion atop. And the honey lime dressing is so yummy. But back to my roll. The split roll itself had been fried in butter on both sides. So you got the sweet softness inside and the little crunchy buttery fried part on the outside. OMG, perfection. This was topped with pleanty of fairly big shrimp spilling over onto the plate. The breading on those was so light and crisp without being greasy. Now that is the way to go. The aioli was nice also, could have been a bit more, but I was in heaven with or without it. I'll be back much more frequently now that I have found THE dish for me.
google avatar

Cassie T.

Yelp
Reasonable pricing for their seafood offerings. Love the fresh and tasty mashups they offer. Friendly and timely service. Clean and pretty modern interior. Paid street parking, which can easily fill up during peak hours.
google avatar

Theresa C.

Yelp
Pretty decent lobster roll spot, generous portion of lobster in nicely toasted bun. Warm buttery goodness with a touch of mayo. The clam chowder with chives and bacon was perfect just wish I had ordered a bowl and not just a cup. The let down was the deviled eggs with lobster. Seasoning was off, just really flat when it came to the flavor. It's got a diner vibe, you order at counter and they bring the food to the table. Definitely a place to add to the list when visiting Indy!
google avatar

Yelp
Slapfish was a great decision for dinner. I am here for work and a coworker and I wanted to grab dinner and my husband being a foodie texted me and said check out this place I found on Yelp! So of course, I had to try it! The restaurant is modern and trendy with greenery and neon lights with a great vibes. The menu is big with many options (that made it hard to choose!). I had the traditional lobster roll, hands down my favorite I've had (even over the ones I had in Boston!). It was perfectly toasted, warm, and tossed in lemon, butter and mayo! I chose a side of fries, which were also very tasty! My coworker ordered the grilled blackened group and agreed that it was some of the best grouper she's had! She ordered a side of Mac and cheese which was creamy and filling. The service was great - we were seated immediately and our waitress was attentive to us and our order! I highly recommend checking this spot out!

Rico R.

Yelp
It was my daughters 19th birthday and she wanted to go out for lunch so we gave Slapfish a try after seeing the reviews and menu on Yelp. I had the lobster grilled cheese with coleslaw and it was hella good. The service was pretty good and the ambiance was nice. Will be returning.
google avatar

Alissa J.

Yelp
I visited here tonight for dinner. The staff were welcoming and sat us right away. I ordered the Reel Fish Sandwich for my entree. The food was good and served quickly. The price range was pretty average for seafood. The decor was cute and the restaurant was clean.

A.C. B.

Yelp
Love this place! Creative food choices. Clean building. I have went here a few times and have not been disappointed.

Yelp
Today, I was spending the night in downtown Indianapolis. There are tons of good restaurants here, so I chose Slapfish based on the reviews. Upon entering, the place is nice and clean with a comfortable atmosphere. The menu had plenty of different options. I went with the lobster deviled eggs and a power bowl. They are known for their lobster rolls though. The deviled eggs were brought to my table first after a short wait. The lobster was so good with the bacon on top! They came in an order of 5. Absolutely delicious! The power bowl was very tasty as well. In the bowl cones salad, carrots, radishes, rice, Mahi Mahi, salmon, and shrimp. The fish and shrimp were seasoned very nicely. The bowl left me full but not stuffed. Overall the prices were reasonable, great service, and the food was delicious. Definitely worth checking out. I'll be back!

Yelp
Solid place for a lobster roll. The fries were perfectly cooked and season. The roll was fluffy and soft. Would recommend to anyone visiting the areas.

Yelp
We've been to Slapfish several times now and it never disappoints. Our first visit was during Devour soon after it first opened. The deal was really great and I would highly recommend going during that time. You get SO MUCH FOOD for a really great price. The clobster (crab & lobster) grilled cheese is probably our favorite thing and it seriously fills us up for the entire day. The lobster taquitos are really great too, as well as the dip. This was our first time eating in and our first time branching out from the grilled cheese. I ordered the lobster roll, my husband ordered the lobster mac and cheese, and we split some sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious as always. We were a bit surprised how small the mac and cheese portion was, but we were still satisfied. The fries were perfectly crisp and perfectly salted. The roll had a good amount of lobster on it and the bread was yummy, nicely toasted, and buttery without being too heavy. Food came out quick and the place was clean and comfortable!
