"Slate Coffee Roasters in Ballard, a popular independent chain with five locations in the Seattle area, faced several employee resignations over the weekend. The employees alleged a 'toxic work environment' at the company, including dishonesty, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, and issues with pay. The resignations included three baristas and one manager from Ballard, and two baristas at locations downtown. Slate is known for specializing in lighter roasts and has been recognized for its excellent espressos and intimate atmosphere.
