Good pizza with an even greater mission behind the business.
To many us, we go out to eat because we don't want to cook. Or maybe you want to be social. Maybe it's because you want to eat something you don't know how to make yourself. Whatever the reason, it's important to be reminded occasionally (if not all the time) why the business you're frequenting is in business. This is one of those cases.
With a name like Slice420, it's easy to assume one thing: stoner pizza. And though this pizza does fit that category with slices topped with BBQ sauce, breaded chicken, ranch dressing or buffalo sauce, there's much more to the business than feeding inebriated people.
The business is dedicated to the owners daughter, Sophia, who has suffered from Cerebral Palsy since she was 6 weeks old. She would get seizures on a daily basis and the lack of pharmaceuticals in Florida at the time forced them to move to Colorado to legally obtain the medicine she needed.
Like I said, this isn't just a slice of pizza. It's a story, it's family, it's doing whatever it takes to tend to your loved ones. How can you not support a business like this?
For slices, I went with the Chicken Bacon Ranch and Colorado. Now, I may have been a little inebriated myself...and these slices went down the hatch just swimmingly. Big slices, lots of toppings, doughy crust and some real heat on them. Definitely a Colorado spin on NY style pizza and I'm not complaining!
Don't miss out on the homemade garlic rolls, too. These massive dough pillows were shoved down so fast I nearly choked. It's an interesting choice of shredded cheese they top them with, however the sidecar of sauce was rather tasty.
In the Springs, check 'em out. Support this wonderful family-owned business with a fantastic mission!
