The perfect coffee shop. Great “house” lattes that you can order off the menu, tons of open space that make the cafe feel airy and large. Music player at an appropriate level and there is a good amount of seating (though it did fill up in the morning quickly). The food was yummy - only suggestion I offer (and my missing star) is that the granola dish needs more yogurt. There was maybe a 2-1 granola to yogurt ratio that made this a pretty dry dish.

First time here meeting up with a friend. Got a vanilla latte and gave an 18% tip. I approached the counter with a positive and thankful disposition as my name was called for pickup, but was met with silence and glaring looks from the barista as she handed me my coffee. My drink was barely above room temperature, not to mention every open table was either sticky or yet to be cleaned up by staff despite how slow business was at the time. Overall negative and pretentious experience.

I've been wanting to stop here for a while and glad I finally got to. The navy yard location has good seating available and friendly staff. I ordered their iced vanilla bean latte which is a housemade syrup. It was good and the housemade syrup makes a difference. I also tried their brown butter chocolate chip cookie which was good as well. I received my drink quickly which was convenient. This looks like a good spot for coworking and getting some work done with free Wi-Fi as well.

Great coffee, good breakfast sandwiches. I highly recommend the Espresso Tonic -- I thought it was bizarre at first, a shot or two of espresso poured over a glass of cold tonic water, served with a twist of lemon -- but it's weirdly delicious. My wife's a latte-type person, and she's enjoyed both the latte and the cortado. Everyone was friendly, and drinks came up as quickly as crafted coffee can. Will definitely add this to my weekend coffee rotation.

The wifi does not work. I selected this cafe and bought food and a drink thinking that the wifi works and i’d be able to get work done. After an hr, I left because it did not work. Also, someone sitting next to me told me that he frequents the cafe and the wifi “never works”.

I loved the atmosphere it was definitely a great place to study and get work done! Coffee wasn't as strong as I would have liked. Same with the food.

Visited on a weekend recently and have to say the drop coffee (Cruise Control) was top notch, and the breakfast bowl was amazing. Not a ton of food but that was the best poached egg I ever had

Found this convenient spot just down from my hotel in the Navy Yard area and it was perfect for my needs. It's definitely got a hip, modern, 20-something vibe (I stopped trying to categorize generations) and everyone seemed to enjoy. The coffee was as expected, I'm not a connoisseur but it wasn't bad and met all my expectations. Weird outcome, I actually got a cup that eventually leaked out of the bottom. Back in my hotel room (needed to grab and go back for an online meeting) it was puddling up and I realized it was slowly coming out the bottom. Probably an anomaly but just watch for it. Got the breakfast sandwiches and so good. The jam they put on it is unique. Held together nicely and was a good portion (not too large). Service typical, a few minute wait they make your food fresh which I'm fine with. Location, great for walking (near the baseball stadium). Parking probably not so much. Very easy walk from the Metro however. It's not a budget stop but if you want a craft breakfast in a fun, young professional or weekend vibe, I would go here. I went twice during my visit and look forward to going back on my next business trip.

This is my favorite go to spot for coffee in the morning. I always get the Tahitian Vanilla Ice Latte. It's so yummy! The place has improved a lot in the last year, as covid restrictions has eased up. They offer breakfast and lunch. The place is cozy enough to work and take business meetings. You can also order items from the table with the scan code to avoid waiting in line. Such a cute spot and the staff is friendly.

Slipstream is a popular coffee shop in Navyard, which is known to be a very "bougie" and upscale area in DC. The coffee shop itself is cute and seems like a nice place to get work done. The prices though are way too overpriced for what they are serving. One very basic chai latte and a slice of banana bread was over $14.

Came here for coffee one afternoon. Ordered one of their limited edition "thoughtful mocha" and a Tahitian vanilla latte. We ordered at the register and the barista made our coffee for us to pick up at the bar. Thoughtful mocha was interesting but just ok. It has dark chocolate, white miso, and Black Sea salt. I appreciate that you can taste the chocolate, coffee, and miso, but it's not something I would order again. There's a bit too much going on for my preference. Tahitian vanilla latte was good. Vanilla was nice and smooth, not too sweet, and the milk had a nice foam on top. We sat inside while sipping our coffee. It's clean, quiet enough to have a conversation at normal volume. Lots of tables to sit and work out of. Willing try again in the future.

I went on a Sunday morning which surprisingly was not too busy. The food was good but took some time to come out. The coffee was excellent. The QR code seemed to give people some trouble and made ordering complicated.

I used to come here multiple times a week to grab coffee and maybe a breakfast sandwich and was a very happy frequent customer. Then, in the past few weeks, they added an automatic 18% service charge to all orders. This is for take-out coffee in a paper cup. Coffee that I order myself at the counter or in their app and collect myself. There is no "service." And these are not cheap drinks: $6-7 for a cold brew or latte. I'll be taking my business elsewhere to places that don't charge hidden, exploitative garbage fees on top of already high prices.

The food and beverages are fine, but if you are sitting in you have to order from a barcode. I did so, and immediately received four different texts and an email from slipstream. This is out of control.

Their avocado toast should be called pickled shallots toast, because the entire toast was covered with shallots and they added a tiny half avocado on top. I wish I took a photo before I started eating it, but you can still see how many shallots were on that toast! Also, the double espresso we ordered was cold.

This is one of the closest coffee spots to me, so I really wanted to like it. I've tried several of their seasonal drinks because each time I read the menu the drink sounds so enticing but they always miss the mark. Something always tastes off and the flavors don't go well together. Sweater weather (I think that was the name of the fall seasonal drink) almost made me want to hurl and for Spring Fling the flavor tasted as disjointed as the ingredient list. Seasonal drinks are definitely not their specialty. I've also tried their tahini vanilla latte and I don't remember how we felt about it but I haven't ordered it since then so... do what you will with that information. I don't think it left a really bad impression but also didn't leave a good one. Out of all the coffee shops in the area this one is my least favorite which is unfortunate. I have yet to try the food here so hopefully it's much better than the drinks.

It looks nice but my coffee tasted like poorly flavored water. We also got an iced chai which wasn't any better. I was seriously disappointed. I would not order coffee here again. The person that took our order was nice but I felt like she could have warned us that the drinks weren't good.

This place has really gone downhill in the last few months. First they're crazy expensive - and I don't mean that in a "I'm a dumb red-tie wearing hick from the Midwest experiencing city prices for the first time" way, I mean it in more of this is more expensive than coffee in f**king Sweden - a place where a beer runs you $15. But they used to make pretty good black coffee and had a variety of beans to choose from any given day. In the last couple of months however, almost every coffee I've had has been badly burnt - totally ruining the flavor of what are very expensive beans. Not sure if they changed settings or replaced their hot water source but they should look into fixing it They also - I imagine in an effort to cut cost and improve margins - switched ti cheaper cups which consistently (the last three times I've been) leak from the seams. Service is your classic - entitled Gen Z who will treat you like you're a huge POS for having them take your order at all as though by simply participating in the capitalist system that requires them to have a job you have wronged them. But that's hard to blame on the business owner.

I've lived down the street from Slipstream since before it was built, and from a number of visits, my overall assessment is it's ok. I usually prefer to run over to Bethesda Bagels or La Famosa for breakfast but dropped into Slipstream again this morning. The takeout experience is fine, and you can go inside or order from your phone. Service is usually reasonably fast when dining in as well. I've found the Breakfast Sandwich to be super solid but am not a fan of the Bodega-Style Egg Sandwich, mainly because of the Slipstream sauce. I do like the Holy Basil tea. It's nice to have Slipstream as an additional option nearby, although I find that there are preferable options a few blocks away.

I'm just not a fan. The coffee is overpriced. Tiny cups but big price. The lattes never taste good either. They never have any flavor, no matter what you order. The staff are always pretty nice though. This place is always packed though, no matter what time of day you visit. There's always people posted up with their laptops, even in the afternoon since they have cocktails.

The rice bowl is one of my go to breakfasts in navy yard. The corns nuts are a fun unique crunch

Solid option for espresso-based drinks. Consistently good lattes, tasty scones, and one amazing breakfast sandwich. Definitely recommend checking them out. *Review is four stars only because the seasonal drinks are very hit or miss. Otherwise a five star coffee house. I would avoid anything with lavender or hibiscus, as in my experience, they go heavy with the flavors in a not-so-good way.

On the way to a DC Blogger Union event at Smoke & Mirrors, my boyfriend and I stopped by Slipstream for a morning pick-me-up. He had a hot black coffee and I had an Iced Chai Latte. It was good - liked how it was spicy at bottom but a bit pricey for the amount I got.

I am a regular here, it's a great spot! The coffee is very strong which I love. Normally I need to ask for extra shots in espresso drinks, but not necessary here! There breakfast sandwiches are also PHENOMENAL. A little different, but done so so well and all the better for being unique. The shakshouka breakfast sandwich is especially incredible (it does need a bit of salt to take it to the next level). I always have visitors try it and they never cease to be impressed. The staff are wonderful too! The only thing I with they had was soy milk! They have regular and oat, but I do with soy was added.

We came here early afternoon on a Friday when it was the perfect coffeehouse weather and I got the herbal tea after recovering from illness. It was very tasty! Yogurt Parfait was small but I really enjoyed it as well. The other reviews are right... this place is expensive! But it definitely has a great location in the Capitol Riverfront area. Also, free parking at the Whole Foods across the street (as long as you buy something there that is) but also plenty of street parking if you pay the toll.

The staff at this location are awesome. Always helpful and considerate. The problem that I have is with the MBAs in their corporate offices who find innovative ways to rip off their customers. This franchise use to mix in granola with its yogurt parfait. The contents completely filled the cup to the brim. Now the granola comes in a little container with a big quarter gap of yogurt. As you can see for yourself as a customer you now pay full price for half a product. What a fraudulent rip off. Be aware of how these MBAs at Slip Stream are ripping you off and think about going elsewhere until they are honest again.

While the coffee is definitely delicious, and the cafe itself is very cute, the prices have to be the craziest in all of DC. I've lived in New York City and you really get more bang for your buck there than at this shop. Over $7 for an iced oat milk vanilla latte that is smaller than a Dunkin' Donuts small iced coffee, seriously. Over $6 for a coffee with oatmilk. I understand the struggle of inflation right now, and it's very common to spend $6-7 on a coffee drink now, but the size is pretty good every where else. It's really just insane what you get here for the price. $4 to add two eggs to avocado toast? Thats almost the price of a dozen...And the baked goods have gone way downhill. They are commonly overcooked, again overpriced, small in size, and the muffins specifically are like these flat hardened things now I wouldn't really call them muffins. These expensive prices and when dining in you get paper cups and food served in paper packaging. Not even a mug or a plate.. I live across the street and I do think the coffee is delicious so I will keep coming here. But the prices are absolutely nuts and probably the worst in DC

The goal was to grab something quick and easy for a Sunday brunch. Slipstream satisfied that goal in the best way possible. Great ambiance and the playlist was definitely a vibe! Before strong arming you way to a table, the parking maybe the worst part about this place but it's worth circling the block a few times. I recommend ordering the bodega sandwich with meat , that sauce is amazing!

There is also plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! We ordered an iced latte, iced cappuccino, and the bodega breakfast sandwich. I'm very picky about my espresso, but really loved my cappuccino. Their espresso is smooth and bold! The breakfast sandwich was also DELICIOUS. It came with two fried eggs on a brioche bun, with some sort of tasty sauce and onions (with the options to add ham and/or avocado). Also very important, the staff was friendly, kind, and quick! They were very conscious about social distancing, which was great. In the evenings, they also have a cute cocktail bar! I'm excited to try that next! I highly recommend Slipstream!!

Stopped for a quick bite and coffee on a beautiful Saturday morning. The cafe is walking distance to the water, so I suggest ordering to-go and enjoying your coffee by the water, or snagging a sit in their street patio area. Coffee is really really good. I highly recommend the dark roast. The breakfast sandwich was pretty incredible. It was filled with fresh tomato, arugula, egg and cheese. The bread was buttery and truly made the sandwich. It did take a while to receive my sandwich order, but it's worth it!

Breakfast sandwiches are unique and very good. But they are expensive and I didn't like their coffee.

Love this place, great bar area, fast and nice service, the cold coffee is the best, make sure to try the avocado toast the best in the area, the muffins are delicious as well.

Slipstream is excellent for breakfast/brunch options. It's quaintly located inside of the Navy Yard not far from hotels & work spaces so it's convenient to locate. My cousins & I happened upon this cute diner after searching for somewhere to eat. It's a very cozy but very modern diner. It offers an array of coffees & cool spins on traditional breakfast foods. I ordered a very traditional breakfast of the pancakes & crispy bacon. The pancakes were really flavorful & fluffy. Not too sweet but the addition of the berries gives them a sweet kick. The bacon is cooked to perfection & oh so crispy. And I love that they don't skimp on portions so you are guaranteed to get full! I recommend Slipstream if you want a delicious, filling breakfast.

14th Street Slipstream continues to be one of my favorite spots for coffee and a bite in the city but this location misses the mark. When I walked in (regular lunch time hours) almost all of the tables were empty of people but full of crumbs and discarded plates. All of the servers/baristas were huddled up in a corner, gossiping so it took a lot of uncomfortable shuffling in a corner to be greeted (who am I to disrupt the hot chisme of the day!). I ordered the french onion soup and a vegetarian sandwich. While tasty, the soup looked like it was bottom of the barrel gruel -- none of that ooey gooey melted cheese crust masterpieces I'm used to. Sandwich was sloppy looking as well -- none of the artfully crafted goat cheese spreads I'm used to. I was fed and served, so no big complaints but overall the experience was lacking.

Stopped in for a quick bite while in the Navy Yard area of DC. Nice place- cute decor- the staff is friendly- the latte was good as was the lemon lavender scone. Also had the salmon toast- very good - only one slice but tasty. They allow indoor eating which was so enjoyable!

No impressed and slightly annoyed. All the factors: it's Labor Day and it's prob really busy and they seem understaffed. The wait is very long. It took forever to get nitro brew. Which really is not nitro brew. (The Guinness like texture, bubbles and smooth). It tasted like bitter iced coffee, and I know he difference between cold brew and iced coffee. It was iced coffee, by my untrained palette. They were nice and replaced the drink with another one. The wait was long for a nitro brew, out of a tap. Coffee is average. Food is good. With how many local coffee shops there are. This place does not stand out. Sounds mean. But being honest. Update: Months later I Came back and tried the food and latte. The Avocado toast was made very well. A freshly poached egg (+$2) was also placed on top. It was perfectly poached. Hard to find and takes a lot of skill. Service is friendly, when you get their attention. I as I dined in, I waited for the line to die down And get a coffee to go. Waited for a few mins. Staff saw me but did not acknowledge. After a few minutes I got annoyed and ended up not getting my coffee to go. Would have been quicker to go home and brew my own coffee.

Came in with the intentions of just doing work, in their dine in area, but I stumbled across a hidden gem! Located in SE DC., Slipstream has somewhat of a small food menu but a variety of coffee beverages! It was between me stuffing my mouth full of granola parfait and a me munching down on my perfectly cooked chicken sandwich that I decided this was good! The menu is a little on the pricer side but the freshness is definitely worth it. Dining in is an option but you'll need to fill out a quick form at the register and you'll soon be relaxing in their back seating area, which has a bar! I also heard diners can soon expect cocktails to go too! Will definitely be visiting again to try out the rest of the menu!

Came by Slipstream on a rainy October weekend for brunch, while visiting friends who lived in a nearby apartment complex. They'd warned me that the pricing was a little steeper- but hey, that's DC, right? I'd say the first turn-off was seating. Maybe it's because we stumbled in on a soggy Saturday, but it was mildly awkward to place our wet coats, umbrella, and selves onto backless stools at the community table. Hipster seating aside, the service was... okay? I get the pulse they're more built for grab-and-go coffee shop visitors versus full-service dining, so it took a bit for a server to come by, fill our waters, bring menus, etc. Once our food was finally out, I will say I was decently impressed. It was delicious- the pastry was so flaky and buttery, and the bacon was prepared very well. Presentation is trendy, but justified for the pricing, I guess.

They have the best breakfast sandwiches and their sweater weather latte is absolutely delicious! It's not too sweet and the perfect strength. The breakfast sandwich is actually a lot more filling than most and it comes with a ton of ham and egg vs more carb heavy options in the area. This is my go to spot for breakfast in the neighborhood!

Didn't think I'd stop by as often as I do, but I've come to really enjoy the cappuccino here. Light sweet/no sweetness and oat milk consistently does the trick for me. The bodega sandwich with shaved ham is also really good.

Best coffee ever! Love their creations and special coffee. I had pandan coffee once and love it. Mo the barista is the sweetest.

When I finally went personally, I understand why they are a 3 star coffee/brunch place. This is actually a cute place. So when we got there on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. When we first walked in, no one greeted us. We were trying to find a table on our own. When we were seated, we asked for water and the server seemed to be too busy to pay attention to us. When we asked for napkins, the server throw the napkins on the table. I did not appropriate the service here. I love the coffee and the food. But I WOULD NOT go back because their customer service is horrible. I would probably go to their other location next time.

Came here for a quick coffee and breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was! The smoked salmon toast isn't just aesthetically pleasing but also very pleasing to the taste buds. The combination of flavors is so good and the salmon is so fresh and tasty. If I could get this every morning for breakfast I would. Also had an iced Tahitian Vanilla Latte and it was a delicious treat. Check out this spot for a cute cafe venue with fantastic food and drink.

Came on a Saturday afternoon to do work with a friend, and it wasn't too packed. Definitely great music and not too loud so excellent place to do work/study. I enjoyed my iced Tahitian vanilla latte! Got to try my friend's breakfast bowl with sausage, and that was delicious!!! To be honest, the staff was not the friendliest. We weren't greeted or anything. I bought a pastry, but then they told me it wasn't available :| They tried to give me a different one and were persistent, but I wasn't really interested in another. So they had to give me a refund after I had sat down. It was just strange encounter. Other than this, I did enjoy working here!

Love slip stream and love their fruit granola bowl, but the last few times I've ordered that to-go it's been a bit disappointing. A little more fruit than this is expected.

THE BIG: Literally the corner of New Jersey Ave and I St. SE. Very big space and beautifully decorated. Baristas are super nice and a great place to remote work. THE BLACK AND WHITE: A couple of co-workers and I came here for our morning joe's after learning it was pretty good. Only a couple of blocks from the Department of Transportation building. Arriving inside, there was no line, which was nice. There are two categories of coffee on the board: fruit and blends. The fruit coffee is suppose to be drunk without putting in creamer and sugar. The blends are cheaper and suppose to be drunk with creamer. I got the 12oz fruit. It took about 3 minutes to make and it was good. I can't justify paying that much for a cup of joe. THE FINAL BAMBOO: I spent $4.50 on a 12oz cup of coffee. I think it's a little pricey for how much coffee I'm getting. The quality of the coffee is good...I just can't justify buying it more than one time. I'll definitely be back to remote work.

I came during the week in the middle of the day so there was no wait & it was a perfect place for a quick brunch! The grit bowl was DELICIOUS! & so was the Tahitian vanilla latte. I was very satisfied everything & will definitely be back.

I'm not a coffee drinker but love this place for the food (all breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, and chocolate chip cookie are divine) and teas (hot or iced). So glad to have a DMV-based small business in the neighborhood

Some of Slipstream's Northwest cool is rubbing off of Navy Yard with the opening of their second cafe/restaurant/bar. Located just past Capitol Hill and just a few blocks from the Nats Stadium, hats off to their ownership for capitalizing on their target audience. Their neighbors are the perfect blend of families who want a solid brunch option and young professionals who want to Instagram the perfect latte art and/or pre-game with a good cocktail. Slipstream offers the best of both worlds. Slipstream has an open, light atmosphere, but more industrial with the high ceilings and open piping. There are a few tall four person tables in the front of the shop for coffee drinkers. Each table has a magazine in it (Our table had Drift, an artisan coffee magazine). Nearby, is the barista serving a variety of coffee lover treats like warm scones and cinnamon buns. On top of that, they have your basic coffee menu with a few custom drinks. What they lack in out of this word pastries, they make up for it with amazing coffee drinks. In the back, there's a long bar and family size tables for those who want to pay an arm and a leg for avocado toast (People, save the $12 and make it yourself!). Here, they offer a full cocktail and brunch menu. The only disappointment was that none of the restrooms have a diaper changing station. For being in a family friendly neighborhood, that seems a little off. Welcome to the neighborhood, Slipstream. We are truly glad you're here!

I'm so glad we found this place! We are in DC for the weekend and have now visited twice to get the avocado toast. It addictive! Not my normal breakfast order since I usually find it bland; but not here. In my opinion, the pickled onions and goat cheese made it extra special. My BF had the egg sandwich which was also delicious. The restaurant had a good atmosphere and great coffee as well.

Something for everyone here- I tried the iced coffee and the jasmine tea over the weekend and both were great. The iced coffee was perfect on its own- no sugar or cream needed. The group I was with all enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and the vegetarian was able to swap out the meat for avocado. I think the only miss was the cinnamon roll type pastry where it just didn't quite live up to what we were craving to accompany the coffee. Staff is friendly and we felt like covid protocols were taken seriously here.

Everything was delicious, especially the vanilla bean latte. I came here with a friend and we both got a breakfast sandwich, vanilla latte, and we shared the coffee cake. The cake the perfect size to share, and a great way to top off a meal. I'll be back again!

My friend and I met up for brunch at Slipstream today. She has been many times, but it was my first. She said that in the past someone had come to her table to take her order, but no one came so we went to order at the bar. We each got the Slipstream Egg Sandwich, she got a flat white and I got a decaf cappuccino with oat milk. The drinks were smaller than I am used to getting, but tasty. My biggest complaint about those were that they were served in glasses with no handles. Since my drink was hot, the glass got hot quickly and I was scared I would drop it on my way back to my table. Our sandwiches were delivered in a timely manner and well presented. I liked all of the components, but felt it could have had a little more meat and jalapeño jam since the egg soufflé was so big and fluffy. I'm a big fan of the sweet, savory, spicy combo and wished it was more prominent. Still, everything was tasty and the lack of table service meant that my friend and I could spend an hour and a half catching up uninterrupted

Go to study spot! Early on a weekend morning (before 10am) you can always find a table to get workin' Their coffee prices are on par with others in DC but the quality is a notch above. Their staff is friendly and on a slow day is always willing to chat. I recommend their "Six-one-six" drip coffee if you don't have a particular flavor profile you like in your cup. It's a smooth morning blend that will satisfy all. It can get loud when the place is full but r never feels cramped. I'll probably be there again tomorrow, honestly
