Love this cafe. Hate the hours. It feels like it has been a neighborhood staple for a long time. Good coffee and other drink options. Ipuedes the chai latte. While it smells amazing being brewed, it wasn't spicy enough for me. It literally tasted like water to be honest. They should add some more spices like cinnamon and maybe even cayenne to kick it up. Wifi and places to work and meet. Downside is they close so easily at 2p.

Tried their sweet potato biscuit and thoughtful mocha! The biscuit was really good, and had a nice texture. The mocha was interesting in that it had miso in it. It definitely adds a savory twist to the drink but I think if you drink it with espresso, the espresso flavor overpowers the miso. If you want more miso flavor, getting the hot chocolate might be better. Their uniqueness I would say would be the number of menu items with sweet potato. If you love sweet potato, this is your heaven. Also has a lot of seating. Lots of small individual tables. Free wifi and great place to chill and do some work or catch up with a friend!

exceptional espresso program. Truly incredibly gifted craftsman. When I visit from NYC I without fail come to visit this cafe and I always get a flat white and enjoy the oudoor seating they have and read my Bible and just unwind. It’s the greatest cafe with a really stunning food selection too! I love their avocado toast, it goes well with their habenero spicy jam!

Really tasty breakfast! I had a ham and egg sandwich, which was fresh and really tasty. All the ingredients were fresh and the flavours went really well together. Blueberry scone was delicious too and was the best scone we had so far as it was soft inside and had a crispy outer layer. Nice chilled out atmosphere. Service was friendly and we got served quite quickly. I would highly recommend it.

I expect excellent coffee when going to a local cafe and slip stream delivers. Ontop of that, the food was on point. I got the avocado toast and added and egg. The dish was extremely well balanced between richness and acidity. 10/10

A good cup of coffee, and it's open relatively early. The thoughtful mocha was just what I needed to wake me up from a late train in the night before. The miso was very prominent and provided an umami contrast to the sweet chocolate. Got it hot even though it was a warm morning, so it wasn't watered down by the ice. Wasn't burning hot. Would say a good temperature. Nice that there are individual ordering stations in the store, and you can order ahead online as well.

Came in for a late afternoon coffee and ordered a Tahitian Vanilla Latte ($6) and Thoughtful Mocha($6) through the iPad. It was not busy at all, but it took over 10 minutes for the drinks to come out. Seems like most of the employee are on their phone and only take digital orders. Drinks were not that good, not sure how to describe it besides being very off. Disappointed that it did not taste good since it was in a very nice area. Drink: 5.0 Staff/service: 3.0 Value: 6.0 Overall: 4.8/10

I got the vanilla latte and it was pretty good. Sweet enough I didn't need to add sugar but not too sweet. I was disappointed they didn't have almond milk but they did at least have skim which is more than call your mother had so I was happy with that. I wanted to try "sweater weather" but they pre make the mixture with oat milk and I didn't want oat milk. I will say my wait time for one coffee felt excessive. It was around 10-15 minutes. The coffee was good but probably not 10-15 minutes good ;) The atmosphere was hopping and seemed like a great place to meet up with friends or sit by yourself and work on a project that would benefit from ambient noise. Update: tried the thoughtful mocha. Couldn't even taste the miso. Nothing special unfortunately. Next day tried a simple cortado- the one from my local coffee shop in blue hill is so much smoother and tastier. I'm sure the beans and coffee itself are high quality but the execution is lacking. I'd love to see so more interesting drinks put on the menu or current ones improved. The Tahitian vanilla latte would be the best I'd recommend but even that didn't "wow" me.

I am pretty obsessed with their magic Matcha because it's a mix of basil and Matcha and it honestly was a very good combination. The food was fine. I feel like the rice was a bit hard for some reason and the chicken was dry. The portion sizes were good if you got the bowl. Would definitely come back for their Magic Matcha. Service was fast and there are a couple of booths for sit and work as well as a couple of tables outside the front but inside the building to eat.

This was close to my hotel, so I had to try (especially since the hotel coffee was subpar). Slipstream's coffee though, is fantastic. Service was friendly and fast, plus super easy ordering. Got their lemon cookie and lox toast. The flavour was great, not too sweet and a perfect texture. The lox toast was an interesting take on lox bagel, not my favourite, but still tasty.

Such a great coffee shop with a real food menu. A friend told me about this place and I surprisingly had never heard of it! It's so spacious, but beware on weekend it actually fills up quite quickly so you may be on the hunt for seating if you're a large group. Definitely try one of their unique hot drinks. The miso hot chocolate that I ordered was so rich and delicious. I could drink that all day. The egg sandwich they serve seems to be really popular and I can see why. It is quite filling and a great breakfast to start the day. Can't wait to visit this place again.

This cafe has such welcoming atmosphere with rather jazzy modern interior. very quiet. On a gloomy day, it was a good way to start the day with positive energy given by this cafe. I had sweater weather latte that seemed to be their signature drink which has interesting flavor with a little citrus touch. The waiter brought us complementary cookies for the day.

Solid coffee shop with good seating options, kind staff, easy ordering, and excellent coffee. I came in on a Saturday afternoon with a friend, and while it was crowded we were still able to grab a table up front by the window. It wasn't too loud, as some people were working, but it also wasn't too quiet and most people were able socializing amongst themselves. We placed our order using a QR code, but unfortunately our table didn't have one so we had to use a neighbors (which is okay minus the fact that they will bring your order to that table). My issue with the code was I scanned it for our table and somehow it opened for another location and I accidentally placed my order there? So confusing since it was supposed to be linked to the table. Nonetheless, pay attention and you should be fine! I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich and coffee and can't wait to return and try some pastries. Plus I heard a VA location is coming which is perfect for those of us in NOVA!

I went to Slipstream with the family for breakfast on a trip to DC to see the cherry blossoms. The place was 5mins walking from my hotel. They had options to order from a QR code at the table or in the front. We ordered the lattes and avacado toast. Everything was delicious and it was a great place to get breakfast.

Busy during mid day on a weekday, made it easy to talk openly and freely. You'll find many people working on their laptops here and there's good lighting. I felt pressured to order too quickly. I ordered the seasonal special sweet potato latte to get some unique flavor. It ended up being just ok. The breakfast sandwich is not really filling, and overpriced. It was fun to stop by but not a coffee shop I'd frequent.

How to you work in a neighborhood for years and fail to uncover a gem literally right under your nose? I don't have the answer, but it's happened with Slipsteam. I e walked past this little storefront almost every day - and it wasn't until a coworker mentioned it that I woke from my oblivion and ventured in. Slipstream is quite simply wonderful. While it doesn't have the most extensive menu, what they do offer is wonderful. In two days I tried a breakfast sandwich, smoked salmon toast, a Behan lemon poppyseed scone, and two different types of coffee. Not a single tho g wrong with any of them. I even went back for a second smoked salmon toast - well, just because. If your ever in the Thomas Circle area, walk up 14th and look for the high top table on the sidewalk. Don't walk past. Walk in

I wanted to try something new in the city and saw amazing reviews of this coffee shop in Logan Circle. I took the redline metro to Farragut North and walked about 5 minutes to get there. This spot is probably one of the fanciest spots in DC in terms of the customers going there. You could feel how polite and educated people are which makes you enjoy your day more! What I loved most about this place is that you don't have to constantly ask for a cup of water because water is self-serve which is fantastic for me since I drink a lotta water after my oat milk latte. Btw, a 12 oz. of latte was $5.00. These are the type of spots that makes me regret not living in Logan Circle, honestly. Highly recommended!

The barista is truly a connoisseur who was happy and excited to share all her knowledge on the beauty, skill, and hard work involved in farm to cup. Flavor wheels and grading sheets were provided as we sampled each bean; guiding us to understand and make conscious associations between palette and coffee characteristics.

I can say this one of the best latte I've had. I recommend getting the Tahitian vanilla latte. It's so sweet, made with Ethiopian coffee beans, and creamy. It doesn't taste like those vanilla syrup but like a vanilla bean. There's plenty of seating here and everyone is studying or on a coffee date. Just know there isn't a lot of outlets here. The service was quick and fast. I recommend coming here!

A coffee shop to remember! Their filter coffee blend is beautifully presented on a hand-made-looking wodden tray, a small pretty coffee carafe, and the small size is plenty for even the greatest coffee addict (and very cheap in this inflationary world). The space had a great ambience, a mix of people working on something and conversing, great energy, and kool music from the 80s and 90s, not the irritating plastic pop in some establishments. Very nice, non-obtrusive servers and barristas. And all this in one of my fave locations of DC, Logan Circle. 6 stars! I'll be back.

There's absolutely nothing I love more than spending my morning at Slipstream with a good book, a breakfast bowl, and a Tahitian vanilla latte. Slipstream has lots of seating so you can bring a friend, do some work, or enjoy time to yourself. You order at the bar and the food comes out to you. It's got free wifi and attentive service. All around one of my favorite spots to spend a slow Sunday morning.

Headed to slipstream on a Sunday morning because I've heard good things. I really loved how inside they have a QR code you order directly off of and service was pretty quick. I tried the Tahitian vanilla latte and breakfast sandwhich. Hands down great latte! The only thing is it was definitely on the pricier side of lattes that I have had. I also really enjoyed the sandwich especially the habanero jam. I'm always a fan of a sweet and spicy combo. The inside has tables that people were working off of and the bar was perfect for me since I was dining alone. Overall pretty good stop if you're in the area.

Lattes are almost $7 for 12oz, which is by most standards a small but the only size here. The espresso was decent, not my favorite in the area but decent, wouldn't come just for a coffee though given the price and size. But I'll give it 4 stars it's nice inside and has some tables out front as well.

Nice comfortable place to go, sit, work on your computer instead of go to an office. When I went in there wasn't a lot of people in the establishment but soon people came in. I asked for a dark roast coffee but they didn't have one but I settled for the darkest of their medium roast. It was fair, nothing special but was ok. Should have settled for an americano or latte. 12 ounce cup of Joe was $4.50. Left a tip too even though the service was so-so. I'll go back but will get an espresso drink next time.

This re-review is long overdue. I really love this place now. The lattes are so creamy and delicious and the baked good are so yummy. I really haven't ventures outside of breakfast but I should. There is a decent amount of seating and an efficient but friendly vibe. I also love that if I'm eating in I can get a real glass. I also love that their baked goods rotate seasonally. Right now they have a strawberry scone which is amazing.

Ok let me start off saying that this is such a great place to sit, loiter and catch up with friends! It's a big enough space (think industrial, hipster-esque aesthetic) that you should find a seat on weekends. However, my review is based solely on the food since I've only had takeout. I've been here twice to get their two breakfast sandwiches: the slipstream breakfast sandwich and the bodega-style egg sandwich. I think I actually prefer the bodega style because the soufflé texture was meh and a bit off putting in the other. Both sandwiches didn't taste that fresh to me, but I liked how creative they were. I also found they have too much sauce. Nonetheless, I'll definitely come back! The coffee is great, especially the Tahitian vanilla latte with oat milk, but $7 is much too steep to come too often.

Walked in on a Friday morning around 9:30am just strolling around the neighborhood. No wait, unlike the other coffee shop in the area (Good Company Doughnuts and Cafe). From what I hear, the other shop is more known for their doughnuts. As soon as you walk into Slipstream, it brings you into its open, modern design. The counter has multiple tablets for you to order from. We were immediately warmly greeted by the barista and offered waters and complimentary shortbread bites while we ordered. I've never had a coffee shop experience like that before. Their seasonal latte (pandan) caught my eye. I ordered mine hot. It took about 5 minutes. There is a designated pickup area, but another barista walked the drink to me as I was sitting somewhere else, which was much appreciated! The pandan flavor is very subtle, so I might ask for stronger flavor next time. All in all though, great experience.

I have been meaning to go to Slipstream for the longest. It took the pandemic and having to drive into the city to our apartment because of renovations to finally get it on it! I can only speak to post-pandemic slipstream, but we were able to conveniently order coffee, tea, some spiked coffees, and breakfast and pick it up on our way in several times. The coffee (Tahitian vanilla latte) and tea (song red tea) were on point and the breakfast sandwiches and bowls were scrumptious. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and the habanero jam was a perfect touch. The bowl was really tasty, but I do wish it had just a little more, I still felt hungry afterwards! Oh yea, I almost forgot I ordered by husband the gluten-free blueberry muffin which I had a fair share of and it was really filling. As for the spiked coffee, I don't see it on the menu now but it was essentially a coffee old-fashioned and it was a nice treat after a day of packing.

The staff are so rude. They clearly don't want to be working there and take it out on customers. I once asked for extra whole milk in my coffee and the guys scoffed and asked me why i don't juat get cream. I don't like cream so I said I prefer whole milk and he ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME! My friend and I walked by this place and I was craving coffee so we stopped in. They had a specialty latte "pandan" so I wanted to give it a try. Iced. My friend ordered a mocha latte. Iced. I had high hopes but unfortunately it was not met. Each latte cost $6+ and was in a shorter cup than expected. I tasted no pandan. I basically had a cup of milk. There was too much milk so I couldn't really taste the coffee. My friend's mocha was "okay." He said it wasn't worth it. The place has a nice vibe and would be nice to work remotely there assuming there is WiFi. Too bad the latte wasn't great, maybe the coffee is better but at the price point, I'd rather go elsewhere.

This coffee shop poorly attempts to portray itself as a posh and hipster establishment with their high prices and "vibes" but cannot displace the terrible customer service mixed with the worst ordering mechanism on planet earth-- you sit there ordering, awkwardly standing by like the rest of the lemmings in this joint, a $7 coffee while being asked to tip? Coffee in DC literally sucks so much, and slip stream is par for the course. I watched one of the ladies behind the counter yell at a couple of kids to come back and "bus their table" and when they started to walk away she yelled at them louder and said "yeah, that's right... walk away!" Turns out one of them came back and didn't hear the employee, which then he proceeded to pick up the two glasses on the bar; I could not believe what I witnessed. Come here if you like taking pictures of your coffee, not drinking it.

Just not my "cup of tea". I found this cafe as hipster and overpriced. My latte ("tall" sized equivalent) was good, but not $7 good. The staff was quiet, not engaging, working but definitely not hustling, and the cashier short changed me $1 (I even pointed it out to her and she just didn't get it- maybe not used to actual cash?!). I do think this would be a nice, quiet place to study or work, but I would bring in coffee from a different shop :)

It doesn't get more hipster than this, y'all! For $10, you get a tiny but deliciously crafted breakfast sandwich with no side. For $6, you get a small sweater weather latte which will make you say, "PSL who?" The sweater weather latte is ultimate cozy in a cup. I can't have caffeine or dairy, so I asked for a half a shot of decaf instead of the espresso and they kindly made my custom drink. This place has oat milk only. The breakfast sandwich is on a biscuit that was a little grainy and hard but it still tasted good. They add micro greens to the sandwich which is a nice unexpected crunch to the pillowy egg soufflé. They have an outdoor patio that is dog friendly but all food is ordered and picked up inside. Delicious but unless you have some serious disposable income, not a place you would go to every day.

One word: brunch. Specialty coffee drinks are creative and delish (read: "sweater weather" with tahini, fall spices, and orange zest). Food is a can't miss: eggs benedict, egg sandwich with brussel sprouts and curry aioli on a pumpkin biscuit (mind blown), and avocado toast. We stopped in fairly early on a Sunday morning and food came out quickly. Definitely wanna stop back in for dinner and drinks, but will keep this spot on my brunch shortlist.

Extremely rude, slow, and incompetent service. I went in at an off time to get a latte. Just one latte. No added flavor or complications. After 15 minutes of waiting - when there weren't any baristas at the machine making coffee- I asked if my order was coming out. I got a very rude response. A minute or two later they gave me a luke warm vanilla latte that I threw away after one sip. They were so rude that i didn't feel comfortable asking them to remake it correctly. I have lived in the neighborhood seven years and always walk by slipstream on my way to work. I stop in once or twice a week. Always tip very well. I won't be back.

Came here for a quick breakfast and sat at the bar. Service was okay, the place was pretty busy on a Saturday around noon. For food: - Slipstream breakfast sandwich: I ordered this and subbed sausage and have to say it was one of the best I've had in a while! The homemade English muffin was almost like a pancake and was super fluffy and delicious. I also love spicy and was a huge fan of the habanero jam. - chai tea latte: I was pretty disappointed in this one, the latte was super watered down and tasted like they poured hot tea over ice and added a some milk. There wasn't much taste and definitely would not order this item again.

Slipstream is a great place to get work done with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. I got an iced pandan latte and it was good. A little hard to taste the pandan flavoring though.

Third place I tried today. Barista knew her stuff. Legit good coffee. Really enjoyed the Karatina coffee by Roseline. Sweet notes but also earthy.

This could be such a great little cafe; very conveniently located, service is amicable, and food pretty good and well priced. The main issue is that the coffee is so bitter it's undrinkable.
