Sloppy Crab Restaurant

Opening day, shenqninagan Antoine did an excellent job making sure all clients need were being met. He checked in frequently, even if he wasn't the one to take your original order. Great happy hour menu, great dj...Now... for the sta of improvement: food took waaaay to long to come out, one bartender spent more time on his phone then checking in on clients. No dressing besides ranch for my salad, not all the ingredients for a long island although it was included in the happy hour specials. I've got more feedback. I think this place "could" be great!!

My brothers and I visited this restaurant for the first time and we were not disappointed. We came on a Sunday evening and were promptly greeted and seated. The staff were courteous & friendly and the food was amazing. I had the crab-stuffed salmon served over mashed potatoes with asparagus. It was plated beautifully and cooked to perfection. I’d definitely recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Please do not go here. The service was HORRIBLE. There wasn’t anyone in there and the bartender was not attentive. It took over 25 minutes for a drink. She completely forgot about the alcoholic beverage that was ordered. I’ve been here prior and they had a full menu, but apparently in an effort to further grift, they eliminate the menu and bring out a small a la cart only menu. The lamb chops were extremely small, some didn’t even have the bone. They had too much sauce and the sauce wasn’t even good. it was reminiscent of barbecue sauce. The broccoli was horrendous and inedible. It was overcooked, mushy, and seemed to have seafood seasoning on it. The mashed potatoes were not tasty and lacked heavy whipping cream. The macaroni and cheese was the most decent item. But paying $30 for lamb chops and $8 for each side isn’t worth it. The drinks were disgusting and tasted like ethanol. For $14 per drink, you’re better off going to Morton’s or another high end steakhouse. Overall, oversauced, overpriced, and underwhelming. We will never return.

Don’t bother coming here. The naked wings were decent, but definitely not worth $20. The bathroom was disgusting, and the service? I had to ask just to get a drink and place my order. Do better.

The food was very good and delicious also platted very beautiful but over priced. The ladies bathroom has two stalls and neither of them were you able to close the door to lock them. One of the sinks was clogged and filled with water. While waiting for our food the placed became very Smokey and a waitress had to prop the door open. I asked my waitress about it and she stated they were grilling burgers and this is actually normal. I had my six year old child with us and we’re about to leave because of the smoke. The manager did give my son a free desert and comped us our appetizer. When the bill came they already charged us a 20% gratuity which I did not like.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! READ THE REVIEWS AND BELIEVE THEM!! I purchased tickets for 2 through Eventbrite for the All You Can Eat Crab Legs deal, which was $100. My wife and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and were very excited to spend the evening eating our favorite food -crab legs. Every detail about this experience was a 0/10. -It took 20 minutes for a waitress to stop at our table and ask, “Have you been served” -after 45 mins we were brought a small garden salad with no dressing and plastic utensils (we never ordered this) -after another 10 mins we were brought pita chips (we never ordered this) A hour went by and the owners brother overheard my wife complaining and he asked how long had we been waiting for our food and we told him an hour. He had a waitress to bring us our first round of crab legs which consisted of a small bowl with 2 claws and a flower. -my wife’s crab legs were still frozen with ice in them. We requested a refund and the manager told us he would have to pay us back out of his own money and all he had on him was $40. He really was trying his best to make it right, within his ability. But I couldn’t take his money. We had him reach out to the owner for a refund. Although we would like our money back, especially since we didn’t eat anything but a salad and pita chips and one or two crab legs, we left with no real guarantee of a refund. If they restructured the setup and trained their employees, it could be a great spot.

After visiting this place a while back for a fundraiser and really enjoying it, today was even better. Food was delicious, some of the best seafood tacos ever. The drinks were outstanding. It was busy because of the road race but the staff hustled and were courteous and professional. Looking forward to my next visit for sure!

This place is an absolute joke, literally how are u guys surviving downtown, the food is way over priced straight up nasty and let's not forget to add a few necessary things such as over half the menu was even available because they were out of everything, our server tried to over charge us by 25 dollars as if a 20% gratuity wasn't enough, and last but not least the card swiper wasn't working and they kept swiping my friends card multiple times. This place needs to close there is no atmosphere in here nor a vibe. Not the place u want to stop at honestly just keep going. These are the chicken strips they charged me 16 bucks for looks like half a chicken breat just cut up😂😂

I like to try local restaurants when I travel. Service was good and large screen TVs allowed us to watch the Olympics while we ate and Motown music playing was nice. The food was okay but nothing to brag about. The prices I assume were in line for a tourist spot but not worth it. I could see why the place was not filled with customers. They did not serve wine, beer was limited to bud products and cocktails starting at $14 for 10oz drink. I wanted a margarita but not for $25 for a 10oz glass. The place was filled with flies but fairly clean. Wobbly table and chairs. My dish was okay but the sauce covered the food so that I couldn't tell what I was eating...but the sauce was good. I will NOT be recommending this local restaurant to my colleagues that travel here nor the 700 folks that were here with me for a business conference.

Yeahhhh soooo this definitely isn't what I expected. I now understand why there are so many Sloppy Chop/Crab empty buildings around the city at one time. Customer service varies depending on who you get! I started off with Dajanay aka lashes upon entering the place. She seemed really nice at first until it became apparent she completely forgot we were there. Like she brought one of the 2 drinks to the table. I was half way done with my drink before my friend got hers! The calamari was a bit naked for me. I've never had to see the whole thang na, i wasn't ready. Those exposed ones I didn't eat cause yeah, no! My drink was good, I got the henny sidecar but I sub'ed the henny with Remy. Just NOT what I expected but then again downtown customer service is IFFY.

The atmosphere was cool. They were out of calamari. I'd visit them again. The people were friendly.

-0.5 This place deserves my worst rating ever. -zero point five stars. I can't believe it's still up & operating. I can only think LESS of the folk who have enjoyed dining here. Staff extremely rude (attitude nest), will walk right past u & not offer a single word of service. Not even, we'll be with u shortly. I stood at the door for about 20mins with others who walked in after me not knowing just as I didn't if it was ok to seat myself or if the bar was open seating. I took it upon myself to sit at the bar after about 6 staffers walked by & ignored my presence. I sit at the bar for about 15mins, the bartender finally drops a menu, but still no greeting. I decided on what I wanted to order within two mins. It was about 4 ppl at the bar & 3 tables taken up in the entire restaurant... Less than 20 being served in the entire restaurant, WHY is service so bad.. Sadly I watched several behind the bar walk back & forth doing a bunch of nothing & still not take my order, that after another 25mins of waiting & seeing a whole area of piled broken drinking glasses on the floor (behind bar area), I got up to leave. At that point I was finally noticed & told have a good night! WoW WoW WoW.

After flying into Detroit we dropped our bags at the hotel and set off on a walk through downtown. Just a stone's throw from the beautiful Detroit River, we found the Sloppy Crab. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the drinks were cold, and the lobster bites absolutely addictive. It seemed like a great place to watch a ball game, and the upper deck is a fantastic place to people watch or just enjoy a cool breeze. This was the first place we stopped for a drink in Detroit, and it set the tone for a great few days in the Motor City. Thanks guys, and best wishes.

I went here on a Tuesday after a spontaneous invite from a friend to go celebrate their friends birthday. I've ate there several years ago but after perusing the menu I decided to eat at home and just have drinks there. The menu prices are insanely expensive and nothing on there sounded all that tempting for the prices listed. It was free before 10, got there around 930 and was allowed in after security checked our bags. Immediately upon entering a faint order of fish/seafood could be detected and that made me even more certain in my decision to eat at home. On Tuesday they do R & B karoke and they were saaaaanging. It was loud but I enjoyed the music; it made conversation almost impossible though, even when my friend was damn near in my ear. They had a special going for $10 lemon drops and I ordered that, my girl also ordered one but asked if they had flavors. The bartender said he could make a strawberry one, that sounded delicious so I changed my order to a strawberry lemon drop also...please remember that for later. The bartender was really nice but omg soooo slow, it took about 20 minutes to get our drink and to me there were barely any people in the restaurant or at the bar. After looking around and vibing for a while I felt like I pinpointed the culprit..all the staff had drinks and it seemed like the bartenders were making sure their cups stayed full. Well damn. We finally got our drinks, after I noticed our bartender generously pouring simply lemonade in them, ugh. However, it was delicious but soooo weak smh. And the drink kept separating, my girl said she thinks it's cuz they used strawberry daiquiri mix for the flavoring, remember that for later..The birthday girl still had not arrived so we ordered a second round. Yes they were weak but I had to work the next day and didn't need anything to potent, so whatever, "another round!" The birthday girl arrived halfway through our second drink so we finished up and asked or our bill. So remember the drinks were $10 each, I had 2. My bill was $30.00 they not only included 18% gratuity, which was fine but they charged $2 PER DRINK for strawberry flavoring. Between my friend and I we paid $8 for flavor, you definitely can get a whole bottle of mixer for less than that smh, the markup is insane and they should be ashamed of themselves. I doubt I'll be back. Pluses: their bathroom was clean, they have a rooftop bar that's beautiful and a great vibe and our bartender was super nice, despite doing us dirty with the extra charges and weak drinks.

My daughter and her work friends ate here tonight, so I tagged along. The food was good. The restaurant was busy as they had karaoke on the rooftop. Our veggies were cold, but they replaced them. Due to karaoke, we were wanded and had our bags searched. This was a first, but I felt safe!

I hoped to enjoy the entire experience, but unfortunately, I did not. I ordered the crab, which was cold, and the typical cajun seasoning you would have when purchasing a crab boil was missing. The corn was freezing, and the shrimp still had the mud vein. This will be my First and last visit.

Just stopped in for drinks. The food looked good that was coming out of the kitchen. Bartender was attentive and kept checking on me. The music they had playing was really good. Place was clean and I wish I would have been able to eat.

If I could give less than 1 I would!! From the website it makes it sound like a fine dining restaurant. But it's not. They also want there prices to be that way and charge automatically 18% tip. They had a "late night" menu, we were there between 11-11:30pm. Ordered a pizza and after 2 drinks because we're waiting for pizza to be done she finally came and said they didn't even start it because they didn't have the item. We would of never spent money there if we would of had known that! They do not have a full complete bar. Very hovel establishment!!!

Walked in at 11:10 on a friday night, it was busy there, they refused to give me a discount on my birthday because it was past 11. Rude girls at the counter and the menu changes, i dont see the point coming here when they dont care about their customers.

Never ever again, after finally being seated. Waited 20 minutes! No water, no acknowledgement. No service. Attitude's ATROCIOUS! Bathrooms nasty. We had to leave after waiting 30 minutes and not being serviced.

The food I wouldn't know, wasn't able to try it. The service was horrible right off the bat the ambience is just as its name sloppy. The moment we tried to walk through the door we were greeted by security, Who asked for ID and a cover charge. We explained we were only looking to sit down and eat. It's not like it's a five star restaurant or anything we thought to ourselves. Why would there be a cover charge It's only 9 PM the man explain that after nine. It's a club upstairs.. Didn't even look all clean. Would not recommend the area after dark every other place we stopped at that had security, either armed or multiple security guards like the five guys burger and cold stone ice cream.

If I had the option to leave a 0 review I would! We came in as a family of 6 and we each got all our food separately. Chicken wings had no chicken on them, straight bones. Service was not good as well, we had to ask for utensils and napkins. We never received our fries and they told us that they would take it off the bill which they never did! Let me also add that when we received the food it was not good at all, we were better off going to McDonalds. I do not recommend this place at all!

Fantastic food. Crab cakes. Macaroni and cheese. Sloppy Salmon and lobster tacos. Yummmmmm. And super nice people. Loved it

The wait is horrible, and it's super ghetto. On top of Ordering chicken and shrimp Alfredo and only getting shrimp and still had to pay $28 for it is beyond me, not to mention at and I ordered a surfing and turf it took well over an hour for me to get the food, I ate the food. And instantly got sick. That was my first and last time there.If it wasn't for the bartender with the bohemian braids, I would have walked out without paying the $188.00 bill.

It was great food, seafood pasta. The service was really great and they were attentive throughout our stay.

On our recent trip to downtown Detroit, my wife and I stopped for dinner at the Sloppy Crab before a Tigers game. Service was quick and awesome! Our bartender Cheri was welcoming and informational as it was our first visit. The food was delicious! I got the lobster tacos and my wife got the Alfredo chicken. Both came out steaming hot and were very filling! Would definitely venture back to the Sloppy Crab for delicious dinner and great drinks! The manager Telea runs an amazing team and made sure we were well taken care of!

Love Mac & cheese with fried lobster! Yummy! Very kind, patient waitress! Delicious corn on the cob & cloe slaw! Food hot, quick! Be sure to stop in! You are greeted to come on in, enjoy our food!

I had high hopes of this establishment, but I'm beyond disappointed. 1. A shot of Don Julio Anejo(they didn't have resposado) was $31. 2. They left to make my drink before asking the person I was with if they wanted something. 3. They asked my friend for his glass back because they didn't have enough glasses. The place is nowhere from being at capacity. 4. My friend been waiting a half hour for wings. I won't be back. Plus I paid to get in.

The food was really good. Our server was great and gave great recommendations. The drinks were a little pricey for the kind of place, but they were good too! Would go back!

Horrible my first time (and last) ordering from here I ordered the 50.00 lobster and shrimp pasta it was literally NO LOBSTER only like 5 shrimp some watery noodles and arugula I ordered this as a carry out (had to go in to order cause phone kept going to peoples voicemail) they knew I wasn't going to look at my food before I left (neither should I had to) I live 30min away so it's not even worth the time and effort going back there plus I should've known they weren't a professional honest restaurant because they tried to make me pay an additional tip on top of the included 18% gratuity so please check that before you pay them that should not even be an option if gratituity is included If they were out of lobster (like they were out of the majority of items on the menu) I would've ordered something else but to still charge me over 50.00 knowing you didn't put the main item I paid for in my meal is flat out wrong y'all gonna have to pay GOD for that this wasn't right at all you don't treat people like this who are supporting your buissness or in general you wouldn't want anyone to do that to you I highly do NOT suggest anyone patronize this establishment.

When my friend was told twice that items on the menu (both contained crab) were not available, our group started to just pay for our drinks and dine elsewhere. But we decided to stay in an effort to not pay twice for parking after changing locations. Never have I encountered entrees being brought to the table individually and/separately, as they were prepared, instead of all at once. My entree, lemon chicken pasta, was bland. The sauce and chicken were flavorless. Not even a hint of lemon was noticeable. Additionally, a margarita is $25 when a similar made to order tequila drink was $10 less. Needless to say, we definitely should have left. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Fabulous host! he was super nice.... Very confused on the theme/decor/vibe at this place. A lot of employees just standing around. Crab was good but way too much sauce- sauce was very tasty, but just overkill dumped it all over our crab legs. Ordered a specialty drink- a $17 martini.. please consider putting this in a actual Martini class and a full pour next time - picture is actual amount I got. We won't be back

Customer service was immaculate. Kara was so attentive and genuine. Very kind and catered to every request. Food 10/10 idk who the Chef is but I want to hire him personally. Food came out hot you can tell everything was made to order. We ordered Macaroni and Cheese, lamb chops, salmon Alfredo w/ broccoli, salmon bites, chicken tenders, Crab bag and fried shrimp, asparagus. Everything was delicious. Establishment was clean and spacious

If you want a nice classy ambience and good food in downtown Detroit sloppy crab is not the place you want to go service is horrible the restaurant is filthy and should be shut down they have an upstairs Outdoors patio upon walking up the stairs there was trash empty cups leftover liquor cups it was very trifling and I wouldn't suggest this restaurant to anyone and I've lived in Detroit all my life and I'm over 55 this place was a disgrace and should be shut down all kinds of violations .....DO NOT GO TO SLOPPY CRAB....BARTENDER WEARING BODYSUITS AND NOT OFFERING ANY SERVICE JUST STANDING AROUND POSING...nds of violations . DO NOT GO TO SLOPP

I 100 percent would not recommend to anyone. Once you go there you will agree. Our Waitress was above average...some food on menu was unavailable.....food quality was a 7 On a scale of 1-10... Definitely overpriced , 7 adults and 4 children cost over $1,000.00 . I wish the owner would contact me because I think the business could be a definite winner but as it stands they want be in business for long... my email is jnorm0210@comcast.net

Our server was great!! She was working a bunch of tables by herself but would still stop by and check on us a lot. Sadly she was the only highlight. Food seemed to all previously frozen. Calamari was very rubbery. Our entrees came out a very different times. We also had a child come up to our table trying to sell candy.

I usually don't write reviews but this one needed it !!!.... first time ever at this restaurant, when you first walk in it's beautiful nice music playing ... no one seated us , so we sat at the bar , every worker just kept looking our way but no one waited on us or even handed us a menu. so after about 15 min I finally asked a waiter who was walking by to help us .. which she had a slight attitude because I stopped her ... finally got a booth but then took another 20 minutes to get a menu ... when the food came out we had to send some of it back because it wasn't fully cooked .. which took forever for them to bring back .... I could go on an on... overall food was descent... the didn't have a drink menu and the customer service WELL THEY DIDNT HAVE ANY TYPE OF PLEASANT SERVICE !!! we will not be back.

Great food. Horrible service. Prices online also do not reflect actual prices. My Fiancé and I waited a hour for our food and never even received a refill on our drinks. Horrible service. Would not recommend.

The Sloppy Crab is true to its name, my mother and I came to Detroit for my graduation and made reservations for us. We get there at 10 and the most rudest bouncer states there no more reservations after 9:30. Since there was outside bar and lounge on top of the restaurant we wanted to go up, have drinks and enjoy the view before ordering our food. The bouncer states its $40 for the both us to go up and to send the money to his cash app, strange! When we do go upstairs theirs hardly anyone there and there charged $20 for a Don Julio tequila sunset. After that my mom was ready to get her food and go so when we go downstairs to get our order taken we sit at the bar for 30 no one coming to take our order or even give us menus, so we go back upstairs to the lounge to order from the late night menu. My mom and I order shrimp to go now there's no more shrimp when it just turned 11:00. Every interaction besides the bartender was nasty,distasteful, and unprofessional this establishment is not for people coming in town to visit. Sloppy is a great name for the place because that's what it is SLOPPY.

I tried to order 3 things from the menu that I was told they were out of. I settled on salmon which was served with a flower that looked like it was picked from the curbed outside. On top on the below par food, the service was awful. Won't be returning.

I dined at this restaurant. I ask for calamari and they did not have any at that time. At that point I request the salmon bites also order drinks my meal was chicken and pasta. The salmon bites was an appetizer which means there was not much there. However, they charged 22.00. I ordered chicken pasta. In my opinion it was a pre-heated bowl of pasta with 3 very small fried chicken stripes the cost 26.00. My bill was 114.00 total of which they mask a tip as a service free additional $16.54. The music is not meant to be enjoyed during meal time it was loud and extremely offensive rap. The server was very nice and did her best to accommodate you. They definitely are not a five star restaurant and should not charge as such. Never going back.

Terrible and unprofessional management. Overpriced and unorganized! It's not a real seafood restaurant. There are plenty of places in the nearby area to patronize. This place is awful!

The lemon chicken pasta was good the service was quick and the server helped the place has a good vibe when you walk in!

This place was really disappointing! I say it when I first arrived at my hotel in the Renaissance Center. I was so excited a good seafood place was across the street - I couldn't wait to try it. Well I had the chance one day after working and I wanted to cry. I asked for an order of calamari to share with the table, my daughter ordered fried shrimp, my son ordered fried lobster tacos, my mother ordered shrimp scampi and I got my beloved seafood boil with shrimp and snow crab legs. There was no option for Dungeness crab but King Crab was $90 to add! So we waited for awhile and next thing we knew things started coming out all at once. The calamari did not come before and I was like okay that's cool. I was excited about my crabs! Everyone's food came out and looked great! Then mine came out and I could tell just by looking at the crab they were not quality crabs. Also I did not receive my shrimp! I notified the waitress and told her it was okay don't worry about them. She said oh no we will make them now because you were charged for them. I was confused because I had not paid yet and they had not cooked it! Why couldn't it just be cancelled?!? I just let it go and said I'm going to make sure I give a warning about this place! When my shrimp came out they were just steamed low quality shrimp unseasoned and just some sauce/ gravy threw on them! I chalked up the whole meal and couldn't believe I spent $245 on some crap. To make matters worse when I got the bill I saw why she didn't want to take the shrimp off. It helped to boost her service fee! Epic fail! I would have spent that at Joey Muer and had a better experience! Better quality, ambiance and service!!! I was salty about picking this spot all night!

Great food only problem is parking can't wait to go back and take my wife under the lights of Detroit and the GM building!!! Lamb chops and lobster wow !!!!!

The food is tasty my salmon dish was good but cooked a tab bit to long I had to wait for my silverware and my sister order was raw and when they replaced her chops it was so tough and we waited a longggg time for our bill and they ran out of glasses and would interrupt our party for taking glasses and things they ran out of bit didn't check on us otherwise lol and the crowd to young love the roof

The bar does not have basic ingredients, i.e. bitters, which was a disappointment. I decided to request a basic drink, it was good. It just was not what I wanted. The service for my party of six was great. Some in my party ordered food, and they enjoyed it all.

Look at your bank or credit card account after leaving this place. I was overcharged after I left. They added an additional $70 on top of my bill, and they will include the tip with the amount due(that's not the problem) adding an additional charge for no reason, thinking I won't see, is bullshit. This is bad business. You can get better food elsewhere the food I received was cold and hard. The place looks great, and the atmosphere looks good, but they'll try to hustle you. One more thing a customer shouldn't have to ask for refills on water or pop, especially when they aren't busy. I have all the proof I was overcharged. I have receipts and documents. I even have photos of the food as well for proof.
