Slow Burn - Review - Watkins Park - Nashville - The Infatuation

"There are people out there who swear by the blistering birds from Slow Burn. For us, it hasn’t quite been the same since it closed its East Nashville location (along with the Madison and Hendersonville outposts). They’re still bringing the “heat” though (sorry), albeit from a food truck and a new delivery-only space in Midtown Foods. There’s crispy, tongue-numbing bliss to be found here, especially in some of its more unique creations, like the hot chicken apple fritters—an unexpected flavor combo that you’ll find yourself thinking about at random times during the day. photo credit: Casey Irwin photo credit: Casey Irwin photo credit: Casey Irwin photo credit: Casey Irwin Pause Unmute" - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

It was tasty. The egg rolls were the star. I will say the spice levels don't disappoint. The spice out powers the lemon pepper so I was not happy with that combo. I will definitely try the lemon pepper by itself. We also ordered the apple fritter chicken sandwich. It's massive I couldn't finish it Definitely enough for 2 people.

First time in Nashville so i had to try someone’s famous hot chicken! Hattie B’s was oddly closed on a day they say they’re open so we tried this place. I’m ready to fly back just for another plate (or 4 lol)

*Take this with a grain of salt (or cayenne), I am a hot chicken snob. As a Nashville native, I've been eatin it since as long as I can remember. It's not old Prince's, it's not 400, it's not Mack's. Those are in a tier unto themselves. They are the elite, best of the best. This is next. Slow Burn is in the next tier. Solid flavor, excellent texture, spice levels are pretty accurate. But with this you can go hotter than hot. This isn't gonna melt your face off. (Which is not a bad thing at all). The food is great. Overall a must have in Nashville and it'll be in my regular rotation for sure. Go get Slow Burn.

I ordered on Uber Eats and usually don’t post reviews but felt compelled to praise Slow Burn. I’ve had most of the hot chicken in town, but here there’s some rich and complex seasoning happening beyond the heat. Also lots of vegetarian friendly sides for those who don’t eat pork! Which I appreciate so much! Even drew hearts on my bag :) <3 can’t wait to order again and visit you irl

Each heat level has its own unique flavor, which makes this place stand out from the competition. The owner is also very friendly and is someone I always feel good to support. I get the tenders, heat level "hot."

Ive heard many good things so hope this was only a 1 off. Really didnt woo me. First trip to Nashville for some Hot Chicken. Did the apple fritter sandwhich hot (which was more mild by my taste, with the glaze on the fritter) and tenders mild. Fritter was good but chicken was dry, everything was salty. I guess a work in progress or maybe Hot Chicken isnt for me. I thought the share kitchen was a cool idea, but frankly didnt care for the location or vibe. I wish there was some level of interaction and personal touch being said thid makes this review hard to write as I focus 95% + of my meals to small, local vendors and businesses.

I am sharing due to Doordash.com disregarding my "complaint". Hot chicken meal, 2 orders of collard greens, peach cobbler & butter cream pound cake were ordered while visiting from out of state December 14, 2024. The collards were so salty/over seasoned that they were not edible while the "hot" chicken had no seasoning at all... the peach cobbler tasted as though peaches were baked with biscuits while the only edible item was the pound cake. EVERY ITEM WAS LEFT IN TRU HILTON'S REFRIGERATOR. Disappointing meal for my sister and I. RECEIPT ADDED... YOU ALL DELIVERED AWFUL FOOD & ARE NOW INSINUATING MY ORDER WAS NOT VALID. I am not a Tennessee resident and you all were closed once I received the 20 minute LATE delivery... To elaborate further as this was a LATE delivery to a HOTEL... subpar food was delivered. My Doordash receipt now attached confirms the date/time... I didn't have photos of the awfulness which is why Doordash would not refund. But because you all did this to a visitor I wanted others, especially unsuspecting vacationers/visitors to know. Receipt added to validate the awfulness for each & every item I initially described.

Fake pickup times, bulk restaurant with 1 kitchen supplying multiple fronts. Wait is insane, food is mediocre, and the business model is incredibly suspect.
