Yelp
I was not able to reach my intended destination because of the traffic situation on I-5 South from Shoreline. So my visit to Slurp Station Aburasoba in Seattle's University District was purely spontaneous and hoped to resolve my hangry mode (1/13/25).
It is located at 47th and Brooklyn. Back in my UW years, this used to be a dry cleaner. Interesting conversion to a food establishment. There is very limited perimeter parking. I should have taken that one available spot, but chose instead to pay for 30 minutes of street parking.
The interior decor was bright, minimal, but very orderly and clean. I decided to sit at a two top - table #7. One can order from the main counter, but I chose to use the QR code to access their menu, place and pay for my order altogether. Just too bad I missed onsite Happy Hour prices on milk tea and chicken karaage by a few minutes.
Tipping and bussing one's table are optional, however, I did chose to tip on top of the subtotal with tax and did bus my table at the end to a nearby cart with tubs. There is also an area to get water and onions. On each table, there are chopsticks, forks, napkins, chili oil, vinegar, and laminated eating instructions.
My milk tea with 50% sweetness and 50% ice was brought to me with a straw. Shortly afterwards, my regular shoyu bowl was brought out too. Bowl sizes include regular and jumbo (1.5x) and featured bowls included seafood, salt based, shoyu based, and vegan shoyu based. Bowls can be further customized with additional side toppings. There are also apps on the menu including: tofu, chicken karaage, takoyaki, and squid salad. Aside from water, there are also other popular bottled beverages and a limited selection of milk teas with toppings.
My regular shoyu based bowl ($14.99) was an ample serving with minimal broth, bouncy ramen noodles, nicely arranged two succulent slices of chashu, sliced green onions, shredded nori, bamboo shoots, and a jammy egg. Overall it was a tasty selection. My basic milk tea from the Meraki Tea Bar (selected 50% sweetness, 50% ice, no toppings for $4.99) was just okay. I would have preferred hot tea.
A pleasant dining detour with reasonable prices.
