I love the revitalization going on in downtown Hampton! I've been to a ton of places down here as they've been opening up, but I didn't even realize Sly Clyde was a thing. It basically is a converted house -- so you're visiting someone's house where they just happen to pour you alcoholic cider. Not bad! Like many of the local brewery spots popping up around here, they host a food truck out back. It really is like a backyard patio party out there -- hang out at the tables, play some cornhole, enjoy the view! So in terms of the vibe of the place, it's definitely better than 3 stars. I gave it three based on the ciders -- and to be fair, I typically don't like ciders all that much. But a friend of mine suggested trying it, so I did. I went ahead and got a flight to sample a few at first -- I asked the barkeep for recommendations for the least sweet options, and she gave me four: Cut & Run, Juniper Rising, Surf Hopper and one other I can't remember the name of...I think it was something new they had on special. Anyway, after sampling them all, I really only liked the Cut & Run, mostly because it sort of tasted like ginger beer. So I went with a pint of that and a ginger lemon pound cake from the Nosh food truck that was parked outside -- and wow! Great combo! Overall, a place I could certainly hang out...just not the biggest fan of the ciders.
