I’m a huge fan of Marcus Samuelson so was very excited to check out Sly at the Morrow Hotel…lucky for us my friend Staci snagged a rooftop reservation which only enhanced our experience. We started the evening with Red Line Remedy cocktails, cornbread and ceviche with plantain chips. The ceviche was fresh and acidic but not spicy and they paired perfectly with the plantain chips. The cornbread portion was small for the price and the chive butter was different but it was good and I’d order them again. For my main I had the jerked lamb flatbread and split a farmer’s salad. The flatbread was good but saw pepper and thought it might be spicy…it wasn’t. The salad was really tasty and I enjoyed the vinaigrette but again I think for the price the portion was pretty small. I have to give a special shout out to our server Erika. Her bubbly and personable manner along with knowledge of the menu were the cherry on top to a fun evening out. We also appreciated her checking in after each course and round of cocktails arrived to make sure everything was to our liking. Erika’s off menu bourbon cocktail recommendation turned out to be my favorite!! Nothing beats great company, conversation, food, cocktails and a gorgeous view so if that’s your vibe I definitely recommend Sly Rooftop Bar.

The view was amazing on the patio seating. The fire pits are perfect. Our reservation was taken well on a Friday night 8:45 PM. The steak was cooked. Perfect. The electric slide drink was amazing for a tequila drink. I would definitely come back. I love velvet parking that was available $25 only.

Sly was our 1st stop in DC. I found out Marcus Samuelson was the owner after dining here and the food choices made more sense as a result. It has American fare food with an African twist and the food is so damn good. Not sure why others have a different experience but everything tried was fabulous, especially the burger and fries. The fries are the best I’ve ever had and that’s saying something (super crispy in the outside and soft/fluffy inside). The cocktails are a little pricey and not very strong but that is my only qualm. The staff are dressed beautifully; their aprons have a modern African print. We wanted to sit outside but the sun was blazing and unfortunately a storm broke a few of their umbrellas. Overall, a great stop if you’re visiting in DC or are a local. Hopefully, you all like it too! 🔥

Absolutely beautiful space and the service is wonderful. The mocktail was very refreshing and perfect for a hot day. The food was hit or miss though. The crab cakes were delicious, perfectly fried with great texture. Meaty, not mealy. The shrimp cocktail was beautiful and nicely seasoned. The tuna tartare was under seasoned and served on a stale tostada that detracted from the dish. The mushroom flatbread was beautiful and had great topping to crust ratio, but was so salty, I felt there was still a film on my tongue after we left. Maybe it was the sauce? I don't know. The waiter was great though, and also pointed out that gratuity is automatically added, even though there were only two of us. Service was fast and efficient.

We visited around 3:30 PM on a Saturday. My friend and I just wanted drinks and nibbles, and it wasn’t too busy since they were switching from brunch to dinner. We grabbed a cozy couch table, and the servers were really friendly. We started with truffle fries (so good we had seconds), and my friend got what they call the Electric Sly, a passion fruit blanco and mezcal spicy margarita that was a hit. I went for a Paper Plane first to see how they handled the classics. Later, I ordered a gimlet (not sweet, just how I like it), and two more friends joined us since they lived nearby. One of them tried the Electric Sly too, and the other had a Golden Spritz. Now, the jerk lamb flatbread I got looked great but didn’t taste like jerk at all. There was no spice, just sweet, like it was tossed in browning and honey. A bit disappointing on that front. But the Afrobeat music and the view were fantastic.

I enjoyed my time on the rooftop of the Morrow hotel. The space itself is open and inviting and the outdoor patio has cool views of Union Station and some of the other great hallmarks of DC. The Jerk Lamb Flatbread was the star of the show. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was amazing. It certainly had some heat but the other toppings on the flatbread helped to cool it off with more amazing flavors. The oysters are only two dollars on happy hour which is a good price point but not the best oysters. I also didn't like Slys version of the mignonette, would have rather just had some cocktail sauce over their version. The Doro Wat empanadas weren't as flavorful as I thought they were gonna be but the sauce that comes with it was pretty good. The drinks were decent. I would come back solely for the flatbread and the views. The staff were very nice and helpful.

This was the perfect Rooftop Bar! The service was super quick and the food was perfect for a quick meal or dinner. The Drinks were great as well. Lilo was our server and she was the best. Definitely ask for her if you dine!

We’re here right now observing 4th of July 2025. The atmosphere is awesome. The service is good. Drinks are flowing. I’ve met some amazing ppl. The fire works display was awesome. There were views from all across the city. I would definitely return if we come back to D.C.

Yelp
Restaurants are very much like relationships. Each time I visit a new restaurant I always wonder what my first date will be like. Will it be love at first bite? Or will the reviews and pictures create expectations for me just to find out it's merely a monae. The thing about relationships is, it's a lot of work. I have high expectations especially if a restaurant is on the higher end. Ms.Leelo was our waitress and never missed a beat. She should actually be considered an asset as she truly embodies empathy, satisfaction, personality , care and grit. My date had an issue with his meal not coming out on time but we didn't complain because Ms.Leelo made up for it before we had a chance to be upset. The Sly is located in NOMA and although a rooftop the views are that of our cities finest buildings and government offices, the building isn't high enough to take in the entire view of the city but still it's a rooftop. If you make a reservation ask to be on the rooftop make sure you ask to be on the M street side facing North looking towards the capitol. Let's get into it! Jerk Lamb Flatbread- Delicious! Cesar Salad add Salmon - LOVED it! Steak Frites w/truffle fries - Those fries were amazing! The steak was just okay, it was undercooked. Drinks - Perfection! Finally, my consensus? Would I come again? Probably only because it's close to my office but with the amount of options you have to keep trying other places especially because D.C is saturated with spots. It's just how the story goes. Not every place is going to be "home". This place is definitely not date night dinner worthy as the menu is limited and it's more of a lounge/bar, yes they have food options but it's limited. This is more of an after date night dinner spot and you still want to get to know one another type of place. Vibe - Mostly couples and groups. Bar was empty for a busy night.

Yelp
Unfortunately, my experience at Sly Rooftop was very disappointing. It took about 15 minutes before anyone even came over to our table, and when someone finally did, the service felt completely unorganized -- I didn't have a dedicated server, and multiple people just came by at random. I ordered a Hugo Spritz and was brought a Sangria instead, and when I ordered a half dozen oysters, I received a full dozen. The oysters themselves were discolored, had a pungent smell, and overall didn't seem fresh. I actually ended up feeling sick afterward. Because I had a train to catch, I didn't have time to speak to a manager in person, but I called the next day and was told that a manager would get back to me regarding a refund. I followed up again and was told a different manager would reach out -- but I never received a call back. At this point, the lack of accountability and poor food quality are unacceptable, especially for a place with such a beautiful rooftop setting. The only positive thing I can say is that the rooftop itself is lovely -- but beyond that, the experience was far from enjoyable.

Yelp
I love a good rooftop vibe and Sly is DEFINITELY a vibe! I've been a fan of Michelin rated chief Marcus Samuelsson since he opened "Marcus" inside the MGM National Harbor many moons ago. Well, he's taken over the Morrow Hotel located in the NOMA district of DC, with two creations. "Marcus" on the ground floor and "Sly" on the Penthouse level of the hotel. Our server Erika was amazing. Fully engaged and oozing with personality. She's the polar opposite of an entrovert.. Lol! The rooftop is awesome. You can either eat inside the contemporary dining area, or the outdoor patio that has several tables to take advantage of the DC views. On to the food. The lamb flatbread is freaking awesome!!! She loved her salmon, however, the steak frites were just ok. The presentation was on point and the truffle fries were addicting, but the 12oz. NY Strip was served warm not hot and it was medium rare not medium like I requested and honestly, it wasn't popping with flavor. I ate half and took the rest home without complaining. The wait time was a little long, but our fabulous server apologized for the inconvenience and spoke to the Chef to hurry things along. It looks like Sly changes it's menu periodically, so we'll be back the next warm day to partake in this relatively new DC slick spot!!!

Yelp
My latest visit to Sly didn't go the smoothest. I am torn between 3 and 4 stars here but I'm hoping that it was just a bad day and that things will be better next time! First off, they put us in the blazing hot sun and the staff member I asked about it said very curtly that moving umbrellas was "impossible." Later we saw different staff moving umbrellas for other patrons.... Fortunately we were able to move to a shadier table when another party left, but then we didn't get any attention from a server for more than 30 minutes. The server was extremely apologetic when we finally did get service but they were out of several flavors of mimosa and took an hour for my friend to get a glass of reisling, they ended up giving us some bill concessions to make up for the hiccups. Once we got drink and food, everything was good. The mimosas are great here. We all liked our food and found the portion sizes generous. My friend said the avocado toast was outstanding, I hope things improve because I do love this place!

Yelp
Food pictured is the Dry Aged Beef DOUBLE burger and fries and the Chicory Caesar salad with Salmon. You be the judge on if the salad is overdressed. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the beef was flavorful AND the meat to bread ration (for you burger aficionados) was on point. The sauces and juices did not break the bottom of the roll and every bite had meat and bread. The fries were also on pint. Saw multiple orders go by with just fries on the tray. Rooftop views tell me at night the place is popping. My server didn't want to be there. Or at least it felt that way. When asking for a water refill, he refilled my glass with warm water. Yes I said WARM. He did not feel the pitcher that had been outside in 85 degree heat to determine if that was appropriate water. That was a turn off. The Moet vending machine in the lobby is a turn on though!

Yelp
The rooftop at The Morrow has been replaced with the new restaurant Sly. The vibes are a little more upscale than before it feels like. There was no wait to sit at the bar. The outside terrace was pretty full around 9 pm on a weekday. Our bartender was great and attentive. We enjoyed their hummus especially the fluffy pita that came with it and an assortment of veggies. The empanadas were a cool spin with the filling being really flavorful. I'd return to try additional food and take in the stunning views.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I did not eat. I just came for drinks! The view at this rooftop bar is amazing!!! It is a must bar to check out if you are in DC. The staff were nice and professional. I had the Electric Sly...essentially a margarita with mezcal and it was delicious!!!!!!!!!! I had not one but 3...LOL Thank god I UBERed... come for the view...stay for the vibe!

Yelp
Just like Marcus on the ground level, the food at Sly was delicious and not to be missed! We had two of the specials, the fried fish sandwich and the hot honey fried chicken bites, and from the regular menu we had the crab croquettes. We loved EVERY bite. I was baffled by the 3.5 overall rating for this place, but if you go by food and food alone, 5 stars all the way. As others noted we did notice the wait; it took a bit to get our drinks. But once our order was in the kitchen quickly delivered. So perhaps there are some kinks to work out with the staff? An easy fix that doesn't detract from the superb quality of the food.

Yelp
The views absolutely can't be beat and the rooftop itself is super cute and well-appointed. I came for happy hour and was a bit disappointed that the menu I was given didn't match the one online. They only have 2 cocktails on the HH menu and they're $13 which isn't a great deal but they were tasty. The star of the show is definitely the food. We got the ceviche, the blue cornbread, the doro wat empanadas, and 2 oysters. The food was delicious and I'd definitely come back for more, but I'd skip on the drinks.

Yelp
#VIEWS! What a sight. Lovely drinks. They have some snack items as well. I'll definitely be back to try a few other items. Customer service was great and the atmosphere is beautiful.

Yelp
We were excited to grab bites and drinks at the Sly bar as we love restaurants/bars by Marcus S. We unfortunately were underwhelmed by our drinks so much so that we opted out of ordering the food we initially intended. It took a while to get our drinks and seemed as though we were forgotten about. When the drinks arrived they were watered down as if they sat for a while. We then flagged down a bartender to swap out the drinks. At that point my mocktail was essentially pineapple juice only no lime juice, honey or berbere spice. The sweet heat cocktail was provided as a replacement for the old soul. An hour or so had passed by the time our drinks were straightened out. While the music and the afro beats vibe was great the Amtrak horns served as a contrast. Not sure that I will return. It's unfortunate because it would be a great spot for a neighborhood bar.

Yelp
I came here for happy hour with a couple of friends. We sat outside on the rooftop and the view was nice but it was a bit more breezy than expected. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. He informed us that happy hour was only at the bar. We decided to stay outside because the bar was full and it wasn't a big difference in happy hour prices. With that being said, food was amazing. I only got small plates but everything was so good. We had empanadas, cornbread, and truffle fries. The cornbread might have been my fav but the empanadas were a close second. I'd come back just for those.

Yelp
The views could sell this place alone! This restaurant is the rooftop bar for The Morrow hotel. It has absolutely stunning views. I have visited previously and wanted to try under the new name. The patio was great, we had a beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze. Unfortunately we had come for happy hour only to be told it was at the bar only (this s/b posted on their website), other than that, we thing went well. The wine had an amazing pour, the food was served hot and delicious, and once again...the views! I will definitely be back, but probably for drinks. The menu was very limiting for vegetarians.

Yelp
The service was excellent, and even though the weather wasn't ideal, the views of the Capital were truly stunning. I flew to D.C. for a belated Mother's Day dinner, and with my daughter living nearby, I was excited to finally visit this restaurant, especially as a longtime fan of Marcus from his Food Network days. The highlight of our meal was the blue corn bread and the charred shishito peppers. The peppers came with a flavorful cream sauce drizzled on top--so good that I'd recommend paying extra for more of it. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn't quite live up to expectations. The chicken skewers lacked flavor, and the texture of the meat was so soft that I kept checking under the light to make sure it wasn't undercooked. The mac and cheese had an impressive cheese pull and creamy texture, but sadly, no flavor. Thankfully, the truffle fries with garlic aioli were a hit and ended up saving the meal. Given Marcus's reputation for bold, masterful flavors, I expected more from the mains. I truly wanted to love it, but the taste didn't represent the culinary excellence I associate with his name

Yelp
Sly rooftop is absolutely gorgeous and they offer dinner, brunch and HH. The views are amazing and it's a very large space. The service was not the best and the drinks were just okay. The only food I had was the truffle fries, which were really good. I would go back to try more food and hopefully that will boost their ratings.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place since the restaurant and chef turned over however I didnt have the best experince. The menu online did not match the menu presented to me at Brunch which was unfortunate as I wouldve choosen an entirely different restaurant. The brunch menu was very limited While the employees were nice everything was extremely slow (from the bartender, chef and waiters), especially considering it was half empty at the time I dinned. They took so long to get the bill that i walked it over and stood there to make sure they would bring it right back.
