Wallala Dumplings - Review - Walla Walla - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This Walla Walla-based frozen dumpling operation is the brainchild of two married winemakers, available for pickup at Smak Wines. And while each drop only happens once per month (check out their website for details), these juicy dough packages are worth bumping a bottle of roussanne from your cooler to make space for the drive home. Every variety is a surprise, but you can expect fillings like chicken brightened by zingy shiso leaf, beef bulgogi with grated pear, french onion-y sausage by Butcher Butcher, and our favorite Wallala creation of all time: smoky bacon cheeseburger. Ready a skillet for pan-frying or a pot of boiling water, and that lazy post-vacation dinner is set." - Aimee Rizzo

8 Great Places to Drink Wine in Walla Walla | Eater Seattle

"At the far end of the Walla Walla airport is what’s known as the area’s wine “incubator,” five side-by-side facilities made available to start-up producers for four-year stints. The latest fledgling operation is SMAK, run by Fiona Mak, a rare female winemaker with an even rarer business model. She makes rosé exclusively, in three varieties: sangiovese, pinot gris, and a syrah-counoise-mourvedre blend. A visit here can be a palate cleanser after tasting robust reds elsewhere, and the tasting room is a refreshing change of pace, too: an airy, white-and-pastel setting that feels like a little piece of Southern California." - Matthew Lombardi

What a treasure. Great wines, great story and overall experience. We had the place to ourselves mid morning in April. Great change fro the big reds. So much care goes into the wine, space, labels, etc. we look forward to the wine maker dinner in Bend!

More than a couple of things to love here: Women Owned! Best label design - seriously we love the art work! Great Rose! 3 different Rose varietals to choose from. The owner knows her stuff!

The only winery I tried at Walla Walla which has all Rosé selection. They have a large selection of Rosé and sometimes blended cocktails with Wine. The ambience is great and the staff is very knowledgeable. Will definitely recommend it if you're around the area with a very distinct experience.

Yelp
Very impatient and we just had questions. Felt like we were judged and dismissed immediately. And. Wine was meh. The only wine that seemed to have flavor was the Autumn Syrah. I had to ask many questions to even get the grape varietal. It seemed that they were in a rush to get through us. I get that we are not wine snobs but we also know our wine and have been going to wineries here for 10 years or more.

Yelp
Really small cute little rose shop. We had a nice rose tasting here and the pours were very reasonable. Service was quick and friendly but it really wasn't a location that we wanted to hang out for a long time. Overall, a good experience and I would come back for their wine.

Yelp
cutest little winery ever! this is a series of little pod wineries out past the airport with views of miles and miles of golden wheat fields. it's absolutely picturesque. smak is rosè only and it is amazing. if you like rosè you will love these wines. the owner has 3 total right now- named after each season. 2 are pinot noir rosè and one is made with a pinot gris. all 3 were very light and refreshing. you get a set of 4 tastings for I believe $10? I don't remember the cost. the winery itself is the cutest decorated little place. it's not meant for big crowds. it's like a tiny house with a loft up top and it's decorated in pink and french decor. the owner is very talented in her decorating, and you feel right at home. the last wine you taste is a special concoction made by her- a rosè spritz made with peach syrup and rosè and la croix. AMAZING! we left with all 3 bottles (she has a special going for 3 for $50) and smiles on our faces. my one star removal downside? the owner just isn't super personable. there were times we tried to talk to her and she just seemed annoyed we were there. that couldn't be, right? she wants to make money for her business right? she just seemed pained to have to speak to us. it was kind of a bummer because we really liked her winery and we loved the rosè. maybe hire a face of the winery? someone that will sell the crap out of this stuff because it's delicious and worth the trip!

Yelp
Delicious wines and fantastic service. The tasting room manager was friendly and helped educate us on the rose' winemaking process.
