My wife and I visited Richmond to attend a pro wrestling show on 6/13/25 and wanted to find some here to eat beforehand. We don't come to RVA a whole lot and we didn't want the same thing we would get at home. My wife looked around online and found Smashed RVA. The menu (more on that down below) online looked promising especially since we both have certain dietary restrictions, which would suit us here, we came on.
Walking in the place felt homey, more like visiting a friend's house than anything. The woman behind the counter (I didn't remember any names unfortunately) who took our order was very welcoming and answered every question we asked. She even complimented the shirt I was wearing and we spoke briefly about it. Once she left after we got our order the gentlemen who replaced her was all smiles when I highly complemented the food. Speaking of...
My wife and I ordered the following:
I got what's called a double Plain Jane smash burger with mayo and Mac sauce, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and no cheese
My wife got a loaded fries with their special Smash sauce, pickles, Cajun and vinegar seasoned fries with beyond chopped meat and cheese sauce
My burger was without a doubt the best dine out burger I've ever had. Hands down. The bun even was baked fresh. According the workers they came fresh from a bakery in the area called Flower Garden. I knew immediately before I tasted it it was baked fresh. The burgers were fresh (not frozen) and seasoned beautifully. For 13 dollars, the quality matched the quantity. Their take on mac sauce was better than the originals. I was blown away and told them so too.
My wife's loaded fries were great too. And not to mention big enough to feed both of us because she couldn't finish them all. Their smash sauce is a mustard based deal which was very tangy and tasty. They definitely had a kick due to the Cajun and vinegar. Just a little much for my wife's taste but I loved it. She said she'll just get them without the spice next time.
Before we left, I got me a Mac smash burger with vegan cheese, pickles, Mac sauce, lettuce, and BBQ sauce which I took home. Upon arriving there I ate it and loved it just the same if not more as the first. I definitely recommend this place. They also have chopped cheese sandwiches on top of the smash burgers which you can get plant based in meat and cheese for those who seek that. Cannot wait to go back.
