New owners, same great pizza!
The new owners have taken all the lessons imparted to them by the original owner and pizza master, Walter Gloshinski and kept the traditional taste, as well as the outstanding quality, at the same level it was at before.
They've also kept the same charming interior, with the red & white checkered tablecloths, while adding a couple of tv's, usually tuned in to sports, as well as memorabilia from upstate NY sports teams, where they're originally from.
I've been in a few times since the new owners took over...I'm always more than pleased.
They've also expanded the hours to enable more of their delicious pizzas getting into your hands (and mouth).
I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY and grew up eating the finest NY/NJ East Coast style of pizza.
This is as good as anything you can get from back in that area.
In fact, I rate it as my 2nd favorite pizza of all time!
(It's only slightly below the legendary John's Of Bleecker St in Greenwich Village, which is an icon. Honorary mention to Paulie Gee's, another NYC icon)
This, in my opinion, is the BEST and my favorite NY/NJ pizza in this area.
Thin, crispy crust...simple toppings...delicious sauce...imported cheese (and lots of it)...all cooked to perfection in classic pizza ovens.
My go-to is the 16" Classic NY Red w/Pepperoni, Sausage (made in house), Fresh Garlic & Anchovies. (All you Anchovy haters don't know what you're missing. When they're cooked down, they have an almost nutty flavor...not fishy at all. Continue to hate...more for me...LOL...)
They also offer variations on the Classic NY...you can get an amazing white sauce instead of the red. They also have assorted other veggie/meat toppings, but I prefer to keep it simple with minimal ingredients.
If you pile on the toppings, I feel that it overloads the pizza and "muddies" up the flavors.
They also offer an outstanding 12"x12" Sicilian pizza with red or white sauce and a 12" Cauliflower crust with Red or White sauce.
A couple of salads are available, as well as 3 varieties of Knots and their Cannoli offerings will blow you away if you have room for dessert!
They have San Pellegrino to wash it all down, as well as a nice selection of beer...including REAL imported Molson Canadian (not the Americanized stuff...the real deal).
I'm looking forward to the patio being open during warm weather...nothing like sitting out there to enjoy a pizza and a beer.
I suggest that you get over there if you want a real taste of East Coast pizza...especially all of my fellow NY transplants...you'll be glad that you did!
