"Despite the name, this Hillsboro-based farm offers more than just berries. In late September, its orchard is filled with U-pick autumn fruit like Jonagold apples and Anjou pears. U-pick availability is posted on its website, and updates regularly." - Rachel Pinsky

Google
Super cute place, a handful of fresh fruit and veg and lots of gifty things inside. Great place to find gifts for friends or yourself. Several local things, but make sure to check if you specifically want local! Staff was friendly and helpful and store was beautifully laid out.

Google
We have been picking no spray berries here for 10 years! I make tayberry jam and other delights from this farm. Great people doing beautiful things. Lovely country store, we take every guest visiting us to the farm...even in winter. You don't want to miss the gifts and Christmas decor in December. Smith Berry, go, It is quintessential Oregon.

I love Smith Berry Barn! I get the best honey there and I go through a lot of honey! I also found they carry in the summer a melon called a Lemondrop. It's tastes like a honeydew with a small amount of fresh lemon juice squeezed over it. It good either room temperature or chilled. Chilled it has more lemon flavor but not "pucker" lemon. They carry jams, sauces, dressings, and so much more! Today I picked up blueberries, black berries, and boysenberries. Yum!!! Prices are reasonable for farm fresh and I like I'm supporting local farms. We need our farmers and I truly appreciate all their HARD work to bring me such yummy food. Thank you Smith Berry Barn!

Google
Great Oregon Farm Experience. It’s a total vibe and it’s close to Hillsboro, Beaverton and Sherwood. We had a great time, looking at everything that they had to offer from fresh picked fruit and berries and vegetables to plant some flowers. They have really handy carts. Parking is plentiful and once you get inside, there’s just so much to look at. This is a great place to pick up a new apron and some matching oven mitts. They have various styles of aprons, but I like the solid colored ones in the video. They were very very cool. I will say that the blueberries were not very good. I would just go ahead and pick my own. Everything is beautiful and it’s quite a magnificent display of all of the wonderful artisan treasures that are produced locally.

Google
Wow. What a stunning farm. Take my money. This is absolutely going to be a new family tradition. We came from Southern California to visit my mother and took them to go apple picking here. We had a fabulous time. I wish they opened at 9 am, so my 2 year old could make it through more stuff, BUT everything we did was awesome. Apple picking, eating ice cream, feeding the animals, playing on the hay playhouse. This is a big YES for us.

Google
If you can handle dairy, get a lavender milkshake here. It might be the best shake I've ever had in my life. The berry picking is quite nice but they usually aren't as nice and or juicy as the ones sold in their store.

Google
Loved this farm, they had a good selection of fruit and veggies for the season and you could also do a u-pick. Their gift shop is so cute with lots of cute things, I bought a pair of earrings which I love and it was so unique since it was from a local artist. Their Marionberry pie was so yummy and prices are reasonable. Will definitely go back.

Another great visit at the Smith Berry Barn! Apples were picked and so were tomatoes. We fed the goats and chickens (bring some quarters so you can too) from the food dispensary. There is a hand wash station close by, so don't be afraid of a little goat slobber! They do have a bathroom available too. This is a great place to bring the whole family! Check out their website to see what's available for picking and their hours. They have a shop too. You can buy ice cream and other goodies. If you have some gift shopping to do, you can find great items here also. I highly recommend visiting here.

Yelp
Visiting Smith Berry Farm was the cutest fall activity. It was packed and we can see why. Once you walk in to its exterior, seemed like a nursery, but there's a wide assortment of fresh veggies, fruits and even a refrigerated section with organic eggs. There is a store packed with novelties, from dishes to jams, candles, local handmade goods, jewelry. You can pick up just about anything here and there is even an ice cream area in the back. The most fun and exciting part was enjoying picking out your own berries and grapes. You are instructed to get your own bucket which is weighed when you are done. Depending on the season, there are apples and pears and Chiles, tomatoes, even flowers! This place is just incredible and encourage you all check it out

Yelp
Honestly, what is not to love about Smith Berry Barn? Any place that combines plants, animals, shopping, and snacking has my heart. We came a couple weeks before Christmas and I could have easily spent hours here. They had the cutest ornaments on their Christmas tree displays. I can't wait to return in the spring to pick berries and flower or in the fall to experience their pumpkin patch. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going to make Smith Berry Barn one of my first stops so I can purchase some Apple Cider and fresh fruits to enjoy during my trip. The pears were calling my name, but I was leaving later that day so I didn't buy any. I should have, because when I was sitting at the airport I realized I could have been enjoying a pear!

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Love visiting at different times of the year. Holiday season is always fun with the variety of ornaments on al the different trees. Love stopping by in the warmer months to grab an ice cream cone and sit outside. This store is perfect for grabbing some veggies, a pie, tea or a thoughtful gift. The store employees are very warm and inviting.

Yelp
Went for a drive this past weekend and stumbled upon this place and immediately can say we will be back again! Fresh produce, the cutest merchandise, and feeding the chickens and the goats - lovely! Just a few minutes out of town and feels like miles and miles away!

Ingrid S.

Yelp
Favorite fall activity pumpkin patch in Hillsboro. Loved this spot for fall activities with the gals! We picked yummy apples and big pumpkins from the field. You could also pick flowers and grapes but it was the end of the season for that. There is a nice store with vegetables, plants, food, cooking supplies and gifts. There was also wine tasting. Really a good spot to go and multiple other farms nearby. Their fresh veggies and fruits were awesome

Serena H.

Yelp
This is a nice farm market and berry, tomato, hot pepper, apple, and pears u-pick place. It's October and they have pumpkins and squash of different varieties for autumn u-pick as well. It's a nice walk through their fruit orchard.

T C.

Yelp
It was ok. It's mid-Sept and there were so many rotten apples, and it takes quite a bit of effort to find good ones. The store was cute, the property is super cute, but the actual picking was just ok.

Yelp
Cute U-Pick berry farm | Nice store Every year we pick berries as a family. Last year, we happened to pick our berries next door to this place, but now that we discovered Smith's, we plan to come here again! We came here the day after 4th of July and there were hardly any people. It was really nice to feel like we had the whole field to ourselves pretty much. The weather was great too, a little drizzle, but it was nice not to be out under the hot sun. Strawberry season just ended, so we looked at the Tayberry and Blackberry section. They have a wide variety of berries--strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and others (Logan, Tay, currants, and Goose). Their berries are sweet and large (no spray)! We had a lot of fun with our toddler picking them, walking down multiple rows collecting them in the provided cardboard trays. This little farm is set in a beautiful location. Close to the main road, small private parking lot, and a nice country store. The store sells fresh produce, home goods, local finds, drinks, and sweets. It was hard not to find something I really wanted to buy here. I love their lotions, candles, reusable bags, honeysticks, table linens, jams, sweets, and stationary! My husband loved their ginger molasses cookie--yum! Their shortbread cookie is huge! They have a nice outdoor dining/picnic area. You can also feed their chickens. The staff is very friendly. (Thank you to the guy who offered to take our family photo! We really appreciated that.) We had a lot of fun and recommend this place.

Jane S.

Yelp
We were visiting from out of town and Smith Berry Barn was the perfect spot to find great gifts including jams and spreads made in Oregon. The store manager was very kind and helpful and we returned a second time to pick up more gift items before our trip home. They carry an array of beautiful plants and herbs for the garden and lots of freshly picked produce for the locals. It's the kind of store you want to keep coming back to visit each year and we will be sure to return. A place you must stop by if in the area. Great customer service!

Nicole K.

Yelp
Super quaint. Lovely personnel, great little garden options, and cute-cute-cute gift selection. Found more than we expected and were pleasantly surprised by this family-friendly stop. We even splurged on milk shakes - I'm still dreaming about mine! Love this little shop!

April H.

Yelp
Love this place so much. I'm somewhat obsessed with their milkshakes, especially the mocha one. I used to bring my kids(when they were little) to feed the chickens and goats. I also enjoying browsing the ever changing seasonal decor. The berry picking is great too.

Jessy M.

Yelp
This place was SO adorable and had SO many cute things. We just went into the store. I got some notebooks which are my favorite things to buy, a coffee mug and some treats and a pie and cobbler to bake at home. I also found some Mango licorice I had in Moab Utah that I haven't been able to find. The service was excellent. Definitely a place with so many things to buy and such a variety of stuff they offer. I got a mug, some notebooks and stickers and more. Absolutely love it all and will definitely be back since it's a local store I can shop at:) I don't have a pic of the pie and peach cobbler as they are in the freezer awaiting to be baked:)

Alexis W.

Yelp
Wow. This was an amazing adventure I wasn't expecting. The Smith Berry Barn from afar I was expecting just plants and berries (lol) but I was verrry pleasantly surprised they had a bunch of unique things! Including candles, honey, kitchen utensils, tea, ciders, stickers, mugs, and oh so much more! You won't be bored that's for sure that's just a little bit I mentioned. They also have expresso and milkshakes or ice cream. Me and my mother got the strawberry milkshake! We also saw a lot of people choosing strawberry, and I think I know why, It was DELICIOUS! You have to get a milkshake there! Must. Outside the store you will see many many plants, herbs and flowers to choose from as well as a good amount of outdoor seating you can just sit down with your milkshake and just take in the beautiful scenery. Go a little further in the back/side of the store across the mini field you will see some animals and can feed them if you have quarters for the feeding machine. Goats and chickens were there when we went. And of course, you can also pick berries at Smith Berry Barn but they were not ready yet for picking. So hopefully I can do that next time I visit! I will be coming here often.

Mark S.

Yelp
Such a great place. Fun for kids and grownups alike. Their store is chock-full of inspiring culinary treasures.

Alex K.

Yelp
This place is one of the cutest little farm fresh garden. We happened to drive by and saw you pick berries on the way back to our Airbnb. Afterward, a couple hours later we came back for a little blueberry picking. Pulling into the driveway, the storefront was more of a nursery with plants line up in the front. There was a little barn stand area at the entrance with the sweetest girl working. She told about the garden and where all the berries were. Showed us a map on where to go for the berries. Once inside, it was a free for all. You get a bucket for your picking. Once done, you're charged on the weight of what you pick. There was blueberry, raspberry, blackberries and an orchard. Inside had a little farm with chickens and goats. A little petting zoo. Nothing screams summer more than fresh picked berries straight off the vine. My god, if you haven't had fresh picked berries, your missing out. Once done, they weigh your picking and you go inside to pay. It's a cute gift shop that offers a variety of gifts and souvenirs. Homemade gifts and fresh candles and scent from fresh grown ingredients straight from the farm. Totally glad we stopped off for some berries picking. Summer in Oregon is a must.

Yelp
Smith Berry Barn is amazing. My twin sister and I went here for our birthday so we could pick blackberries and make a cobbler. I wasn't sure how good the pickings would be because it was early in the season. We ended up getting 11 pounds worth. But Smith Berry Farm doesn't just have blackberries, they have a wide variety of fruits, they don't spray their berries, and their website is updated everyday to show the best berry selections for u-picking (picking the berries yourself) as well as what they have in the store. Inside the store they have killer milkshakes, we got the espresso, strawberry, and blackberry shakes. They also have homemade jams, honeys, and cute dishware, etc. I highly recommend this place

Cynthia G.

Yelp
This place is off the chart charming. I don't know what more they could do! The chickens are adorable and the community of them is very entertaining. The goats seem to really enjoy themselves bouncing around the grounds. The gardens are beautiful. The shop is so quaint and sweet I almost can't! They offer a great deal of fruits and produce along with a wide variety of herbal products. I could hang out for hours! They have a small concessions area with ice cream and other treats. Definitely worth the drive. Staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful I left with much more than I intended.

Sarah H.

Yelp
One of my favorite Upick farms! Smith Berry Barn has a great variety of fruit for all seasons (tayberry, rasberry, blackberry, blueberry, tomatoes, peppers, pears, apples). Fruit is in good condition and the operation for grabbing a bucket/picking/and paying is streamlined. I have visited on three different occasions (on a Saturday) and haven't encountered any lines. Kid friendly with a seating area that has plenty of shade, a lovely garden, and farm animals that you can feed (little goats). The store has pectin, jams, and other fun gifts. The ice cream is creamy and refreshing on a hot day! Small garden center to buy hanging baskets, plants, and pots. Not organic but they are a no spray farm.

Nidhi T.

Yelp
A very cute farm that we visited for apple picking. They were following covid safety precautions quite well. They had sinks with soap etc to wash your hands at multiple places. Apples were almost on their way out when we went but we saw people picking some very good looking grapes too. The farm also has berry picking and flower picking options. There are some cute farm animals that you can feed. The cute little shop inside had some drinks and ice cream options and lots of snacks and home goods. And yes, I always appreciate a proper restroom on a farm.

Amy D.

Yelp
Lovely farm for U-pick fruit and veggies. We went for blackberries, blueberries, pears, apples, and tomatoes on the way to Willamette Valley for some wine tasting. Our 2.5 year old had a blast particularly given she can eat little tomatoes by the bowl. We only wished the farm was a bit better signed - there are really quite a large number of plots and different varietals planted. We ended up going back to take a photo of the farm layout to make sure we were picking the right things.

Jeff Jennifer G.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere. Wonderful staff. We have been picking berries here for over 20 years. We love that they are No Spray.

Scott N.

Yelp
Great place to spend an hour or so browsing, I'd call it farm eclectic nursery delicious. Ice cream too!!

Amber F.

Yelp
You could spend all day here! They have a selection of produce to pick up and a cute outdoor patio area to eat ice cream!

Meghna G.

Yelp
It was a fun experience. We visited towards the end of strawberry season but still found some yummy strawberry. A nice activity to do for a day. The small side cafe has some yummy ice cream and milkshake options along with a lot of other hour items for purchase. Thoroughly enjoyed our day !!

Tien D.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite berry farms in the area. After parking, you can talk to one of the workers at the front. They are very helpful in telling you where certain berries are located and where the ripest fruit are. You can then grab a white bucket and proceed to the back where all the plants are located. I've been here for so many different fruit that it is hard to pick a favorite. There is a little animal pen on the side, nicely shaded by a large tree. You can put in a quarter into the machine and feed the animals, but it isn't a petting farm. We usually pick the fruit first in order to avoid contaminating our hands with feed, but if you do it the other way around, there are bathrooms to wash your hands in between. I love this farm. Can't wait to come back to the PNW for some more berry picking!

Malia A.

Yelp
Love the berry barn. Best shakes in town love to order with lavender. Lovely nursery plant selections and gift shop. Fun to visit and feed animals with little girls but not overwhelming crowded or commercial atmosphere. Love to check what fruit and vegetable offerings they have very fresh :) especially loved the snap peas all spring.

Zion K.

Yelp
Super cute little farm + shop! Love the u-pick berries, it's such a fun experience. There's also a lot of options when it comes to the different fruits and vegetables they offer. The little shop has so many cute things and good milkshakes, though overpriced. You can also feed the chickens and goats which is fun!

Bianca E.

Yelp
We can't stop coming and we won't stop! Been visiting this spot for years; we love berry picking, shopping in the sweet little store, and picking out some fresh veggies to take home for dinner. Everyone is so nice who works here. Can't say enough about how much this place has saved us during these summer days during a pandemic!

Janet M.

Yelp
I love this place. All the haters can stay home. Took Princess and her BFF today late afternoon for a quick berry picking session, some ice cream and some sunshine. They ran around petting and feeding goats and chickens, inhaled mint chip ice cream cones, and filled buckets with mostly ripe berries. Princess' dad was just going to watch, but then he grabbed a bucket and headed into the fray. Actually, it was pretty peaceful. Not so crowded, and mostly idyllic. No spray raspberries, $1.75 a pound. How cool is that? Picked about 8 cups for our family, about 3 pounds total... turned most of them into raspberry cobbler tonight. We ate it warm, with vanilla ice cream. Yeah, you should be jealous. Go get some berries and make your own!! There are more berries between now and September. We shall return. I also bought a jar of marionberry pepper jelly to pour over cream cheese. They had samples by the register... so mean, and yet so cool. Ok, well maybe it has to be fat free cream cheese, but I'm still excited. They have blueberries, too, for $2 a pound, BTW. Berry Heaven.

Jessie L.

Yelp
Super cute little place we stopped when the season was pretty much over just to get the kids out of the house for a bit. There is a great array of different little treats I got some lavender shortbread which is a favorite. My son fed the cute goats and the chickens.

Tara B.

Yelp
Love this place for apples! Family owned and very very reasonable prices for prepicked apples. They keep their website updated with what's at the farm store, making it easy to make the decision to stop or not. The also offer a wide selection of products in store to compliment the veggies and fruits they have out.

Rachel E.

Yelp
Super cute little farm store/plant nursery/gift shop. Not only do they have some fruits and veggies for sale, but you can also pick your own berries (season/availability permitting)! How cute is that?! Outside there's a hanging plant area plus some succulents and herbs. The inside has lots of cute gift items like soaps and lotions, kitchen accessories, candles, upscale food items, etc.. I visited later in the day and they were out of a lot of fruit, so visit early for the best selection.

Jeanne Z.

Yelp
**This place is pretty ideal. I just went by myself, and it was a quick little get-away (just slightly west from Orenco, it was easy for me to drive out there) The staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped me get set up, and showed me the map to get orientated with what berries were available to pick. I actually, got a late start when I went out there on a Sunday, and I worried there would be no berries left. I thought they would be heavily-picked over from the weekend, and I would have to work hard, and dig deep into the bushes, or reach really high, but luckily for me, that was not the case. There were many berries that were within reach and pick-able. I also liked that this farm is pesticide free. (There were some bugs around, to be honest, but overall it was well managed) . They have a cute little market, but my favorite part is that you can get a milkshake, and for 50 cents extra you can get fresh lavender added in. I had a chocolate lavender milkshake and it was amazing!! Just one of those simple-luxuries that make your day complete

Chelsie B.

Yelp
Such a fun experience for the whole family! I've taken my family back twice now and each time have had a wonderful experience. I love everything about this place. We got to pick raspberries and blackberries. I love that you can try the berries right off the vine too. Not sure if that is encouraged or not, but hey, you have to make sure you like it first! Also, feeding the animals was just as fun as picking the berries for the whole family. And, we love the store at the end of our visit. So many neat things to look at and enjoy some espresso or ice cream! I highly recommend this for family's or even to take relatives from out of town! Berry fun!

Ann N.

Yelp
Having gone here last year and loving all the berries we picked along with apples and pears, we wanted to go again. Sadly, it was raining. I still made the trek out and perused in the store praying the rain would settle. There are a ton of things to look at related to fruits in the store. Teas, jams, etc. the rain stopped for a bit and we ran out to go picking. They only had apples, pears and grapes available for picking. We decided on a couple apples. We tried the grapes and they had seeds in them so that was a no go. Also, we happened to actually find a few berries. It started raining heavily so we ended our adventure and went back to the store. I also picked up once again their pear butter which is heavenly on a bagel with cream cheese, and this time, the Marion berry jam (no seeds). I tried their sample and it is delish. Because it was raining and cold, we opted out of the berry shakes they make. I love this farm! I just wish they weren't so far out of Portland!

Louise G.

Yelp
We went here to pick apples. Cool place to pick some apples and they have a few varieties there. It's $1.50 per pound. There are a few goats and chickens to visit and a small play area for kids.

Lee D.

Yelp
This is a great place, in season, for fresh fruit, much of it organic. Also lots of gifts and plants, including Christmas stuff. In summer they also do u-pick, which I Love.

Kristina B.

Yelp
Our all time favorite berry farm near Hillsboro! We moved to Oregon last year and found this place and of course we went back again this berry season!! So fun to see our little one roam the berry fields and pick her own berries! It's fun to see the chickens and goats too!! We highly recommend this place! Super family friendly, great prices and so picturesque! Not to mention their cute little store where you can buy adorable gifts and fruit treats alike! We will be back again:)

Anna B.

Yelp
Omg... this is a place you should visit! It's absolutely adorable especially if you have little kids. You can pick apples/pears during the season then take a milkshake or a coffee with an ice cream in the shadow! We had an adorable day back in September entertaining our large family who came for a weekend! Thank you people who run this place! Just don't feed animals! They are not pregnant, they are just sooooo fat. I would say it's dangerous for their life to eat so much((((

Annalicia W.

Yelp
This is the perfect place to take your little ones and PS--check out the cafe across the street for lunch! Our babies loved sitting in the dirt while we picked a few strawberries and the goats/chickens made for perfect photo-ops.

Susan B.

Yelp
Very country berry barn with area to feed chickens and goats. Pick your own berries. Nice visit for reasonably priced cherries/berries. Green grassy areas to relax and eat an ice cream.

Danielle V.

Yelp
Nice variety of berries to pick. My personal favorite are the blueberries, so yummy! They also have a market to buy already picked fruit, ice cream, various goods like jam, and some kitchen items and decor. Lovely outdoor space where families had picnics set up. I will be back for more berries!

Melinda F.

Yelp
This farm is my new favorite! It's close-in and the space is so put together. The kids loved feeding the animals, we could have stayed for hours just doing that. We got chocolate steamers at the cafe and sat outside in their garden. This place is seriously so relaxing and beautiful, I would totally meet my mommy friends here for a playdate. They also have fresh food to purchase for dinner that evening. I 100% recommend this place for families. What a sweet place to spend the day.

Chris L.

Yelp
This berry farm is the best! Last year we came for the marionberries, which they've cultivated so the vines and berries are SO easy to pick right in front of your face. But they also have currants and gooseberries that were neat to try. This year we've been for strawberries so far, and enjoyed feeding the goats & chickens while we visited. They have a neat store in the barn and the staff are really friendly. The only knock against them is that they didn't have any place to get some tap water for my 3 year old, unless I paid for it or if I drank out of the farm sink. But otherwise, it's a really fun place to visit and we'll be back.

Donna S.

Yelp
All you can pick no-spray berries! While we were driving around the country side, I knew I had to stop at a berry farm. Unfortunately, there were no ready berries when we stopped in, but it was still fun to wander around and check out the plant nursery area and feed all the cute little critters in the critter pen. There is a nice gift shop and the woman was helpful when I asked for products that were made in Portland so I could take home some souvenirs. Marionberry jams! as well as some local made chocolate and snacks, etc. There is a little deli case and everything from candy and crackers to lotions and glassware. Definitely a nice stop on a nice, cool, clear day.

Allison L.

Yelp
There are two areas to pick berries-- one for blueberries only and one other field about a mile away that had all other types of berries (blackberry, raspberry, Marionberry, boysenberry, etc). You can bring your own containers or buy a bucket there for 50c and take it home with you. All types of berries are 99c per pound. We loved the variety of berries available and that you can munch on berries while you are picking. The price is great, and it's fun for all ages!

Gina A.

Yelp
I get some of my coolest Christmas ornaments here. Also, some of the coolest 'smalls' for home/kitchen decor - whoever does their curating/ordering does a dang good job - so good that I always end up taking a little bag of something home with me (besides the produce - which is why I tell myself I am going). The folks that run the place are awesome - helpful, but not overly helpful if you know what I mean. Only help me out if I look like I want it. Other than that, acknowledge my existence and then let me shop. Oh, did I say they make a kick ass, I mean, kick ass, milk shake? They do. It is worth what they charge. I just finished a review bitching about a different establishment that charges similar prices for a shake, but this one I praise - cause it's worth it. It's excellent quality ice cream, generous berries (if that's your thang) and as flavorful and rich as a shake can get. Hmmm, what else? Oh, the produce and berries. Like another reviewer, I normally pick my own berries so I hadn't much reason to buy any. But this year, after a shitty deep freeze thaw - I had to break down and buy some. I stopped in here and bought a flat of the sweetest, well picked blackberries and took them home to freeze. Needless to say, only about 1/2 made it to freezer, the rest we devoured. Great location, good stuff and great berries. FYI - They carry some fresh produce - I try and buy only what is grown there - much better prices. Also, their little fat zucchini (round like a ball) are cute and taste good to boot.

Kristina G.

Yelp
One of our favorite drives to make to get out of the "big city"! We love the family feel and you feel the love second your car hits the gravel lot. Every one is so sweet and helpful and we can't wait to visit to get our baby plants every spring!

SHIVA N.

Yelp
Best milkshakes in the world, I'm addicted to the strawberry one!!. Must visit place in general. The owners have exquisite taste and it's such a happy place to visit.
