Yelp
I have been coming here for years, and I am glad it is still around. They put out a solid product, to say the least, and hell, my best friend had his wedding reception upstairs, that has to say something about it, yea?
I will admit though, as the years have passed, I have had some odd encounters with staff, seemingly made-up rules on things on a whim (on where you can eat or drink), or just peculiar things of that nature. With that being said (and a pandemic going on), I lately have been strictly doing take out. I have noticed though, at least the exterior has gotten a makeover- I trust the inside may have to? I mean, it has been open for quite some time.
The one thing- my brother in law, is the pickiest eater I know (besides his sons, wonder where they got it from). This is one of his favorite places to get burnt ends. They can though, be costly (which I understand, great brisket can be costly, and the labor involved to make it even greater is time consuming) @ about $21 a plate (I think it comes with 2 sides though). So, if we have family dinners, this is what we will end up getting.
I would usually get the 2 or 3 meat combo with a bunch of sides. I will say this, I do very much enjoy the majority of their sides, with the creamed corn being my favorite. I will eat pretty much any other side as well. For the meats, I usually go for the burnt ends, brisket, pork or sausage. I mean, everything is usually pretty solid no matter what. I mean, they have been doing this for years.
My last meal there, I ended up getting a burger. Laugh all you want, but it was a refreshing change from the ol sausage and brisket plate. That was nice to know as well.
I guess it is safe to say as long as my sister and BIL are still around, we will be getting meals from here. I will keep trying new things, because why not. Maybe one day I will dine in again there to see how it has (if it has) evolved over the years. If I like bbq, I suggest checking it out- really not bad for local stuff!
