"A hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts, boasting attractions like the Toronto Zoo, Rouge National Urban Park, Scarborough Bluffs, and renowned for its BBQ and smoked meat offerings." - Michael He
Had an order of poutine the other day at the Toronto Zoo. It was a pretty busy food truck, and all day at the zoo I saw people walking around with their poutine boxes so I thought I'd try them out since one of my favorite things to eat are French fries and gravy. I ordered a traditional poutine. The staff was polite. The poutine cost $14 and there was only one size. The fries were OK they were fresh but the gentleman cooking was in a rush and didn't let the oil drip long enough before emptying into a container on the side. The cheese curds were big but tasteless the gravy was OK but kinda watery. I ate majority of the box because I was hungry from walking 4 hours at the zoo, the seagull that was asking me for some fries seemed to enjoy them though lol 😆 ya if I went to the zoo again I'd definitely grab food from another establishment.

So I get to the zoo, I’m hungry and need a quick snack. I’m like okay maybe I’ll grab a poutine, never tried Smokes before so I’ll give them a shot. HUGE MISTAKE. I’ve honestly never had such a bad poutine in my life. I don’t even know where to start.
The cheese curds? Pure rubber. Didn’t melt AT ALL under the supposedly boiling hot gravy. Makes you wonder what kind of chemicals are holding them together. And the gravy… my god. It tasted like a blend of gasoline and battery acid. The sad thing is I’m being completely serious.
I’m genuinely confused how this place is still in business. I absolutely hate wasting food, but after a couple bites I physically couldn’t stomach any more. Fifteen bucks straight down the drain!!!
Save yourself from this absolute dump of a “poutine place.” AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

maybe it was different in the past, but service was quick. For a first time poutine it's pretty solid
A tad bit overpriced though

I had some poutine with some chicken and buffalo chicken sauce. The poutine was heavy probably because I wasn't used to eating poutines (for context just arrived from Singapore). I generally think if you are going to eat poutine make sure you have a friend to share it with and also so you can mix up the toppings. The prices are reasonable for a tourist attraction like the zoo.

The fries are very bad, more crunchy than chips. Overcooked and old. Not a fresh batch as if they are made in morning and reheated to sell. Not worth at all. I wish I could give 0 stars. Literally threw them.

Got a poutine here…. More than $13 and the fries were brown and crispy. We were on a short schedule as my niece had a flight that evening so I didn’t go back to complain. Wish I did cuz they were terrible. Don’t go here unless you want disgusting fries. My niece had fries at one of the zoo restaurants and they were actually good and not burnt… go there instead.

I would rate this 0 stars if I could, they were out of cheese curds and I waited well over 30 minutes for my food. Price also marked up compared to downtown locations. Do not recommend.

The workers seem clueless, brain dead, and completely uncoordinated.

Yelp
At the time of writing I have waited well over half an hour for a side of pulled pork poutine. They are also out of cheese curds. Do not recommend.

Yelp
Smoke's is always a good choice wherever you go for a snack, but when walking around all day, fries and gravy just hit the spot.
This location in the zoo is quite nice as there is indoor seating to eat (with AC), but you do have to order and wait outdoors to get it.
A good amount for the price you pay, just what is to be expected with Smoke's.

Yelp
This is probably the worst Smoke's Poutinerie in the city (Toronto). While I was on a summer school field trip with my friends the service was horrible. For instance the employees looked depressed and the food contained unknown materials. When I had ordered fries I found hair in it and when I asked an employee for inquiry he did not know how to distinguish human hair from gorilla hair. I do not want to order from this place again.

Yelp
Smoke's poutinerie has 2 locations at the Toronto zoo, one outside the Africa restaurant and another in a trailer near the entrance. The food is good and the portions are a good size ( I shared with my wife but a hunger person could eat all). Once I gave my order it was very quick to get the food. The price is reasonable plus if you have a zoo membership you get 10% off. The only inconvenience is that is weather dependent wether they are open or not.

Yelp
they were closed at 4:30pm on a Saturday...quite possibly one of the busiest days of the week, and you closed at 4:30...im not sure if thats normally when you closed cause i was very upset that the poutine addiction could not be satisfied.

Yelp
Terrible employees, service was so slow. I do not recommend coming to this trash place. They don't understand the difference between gorilla hair and human hair. My friend had hair in his fries and they told us that it is nothing but there could have been bacteria in his fries. This place is total garbage.
