New Barbecue and Vietnamese Sandwich Restaurant Opens in Austin | Eater Austin
"Opening Friday, August 28 in North Austin at 11806 North Lamar Boulevard, this new restaurant blends Texas barbecue with Vietnamese-style banh mi and sandwiches, offering dine-in on two patios as well as a drive-thru for to‑go service. Co-owned by Matt Roth and Thao Phan—pairing Roth’s smoked-meat experience with Phan’s Vietnamese background—the concise menu highlights a brisket banh mi and a brisket sandwich with barbecue sauce, a pork belly banh mi, a banh mi–style cheeseburger and a kids cheeseburger; brisket, pork belly, and sausage are smoked while burgers are cooked on a flat top. Sides include fries, creamed spinach, potato salad, and slaw, and sandwiches are available a la carte or as combination meals. The drinks list features sodas, beer (taps, bottles, and cans) and cocktails such as an alcoholic coconut boba drink, a smoked Old Fashioned, a Viet‑Tex Martini (tequila with Thai basil, cilantro, and jalapeño‑infused olive juice), and a longan cocktail. Drive-thru hours are 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Friday–Saturday (dine-in hours run later), and dine-in offerings will expand over time. COVID-19 safety measures include required masks when not seated, party limits of eight, no bar seating, staff masks/gloves and temperature checks, frequent handwashing and cleaning of high-touch areas and restrooms, table cleaning after each party, and plexiglass barriers at the bar and drive-thru window." - Nadia Chaudhury
