"It can’t be argued anymore, shout out to the haters; the West Coast has good barbecue now. This Texas-style Irving Street restaurant is happy to take on the naysayers. The one-time pop-up opened its doors in August 2024. The brisket sandwich, which started this venture in the first place, or the brisket bao made with milkbread." - Paolo Bicchieri

"Smokin’ D’s BBQ has fully moved to its new restaurant in the Inner Sunset, serving the same delicious food that’s made it a farmer’s market favorite. Expect Texas-style barbecue and options such as brisket, pulled pork, and spare ribs. The ever-popular brisky bao, the shop’s brisket-stuffed buns, will be on offer, too." - Dianne de Guzman

"On May 11th, BBQ pop-up Smokin D’s will be collaborating with Molcaxitl Kitchen for a special Taco Tuesday menu featuring smoked brisket and mole tacos, as well as other types of tacos from Molcaxitl’s regular menu. It’s all going down at the Sunset Wellness Mercantile, an outdoor community space on 37th Ave., from 12-7pm (it’s BYOB, and there will be live music all afternoon). If you miss out on Tuesday’s event, you can catch Smokin D’s BBQ at Chug Pub on Wednesday May 13th, and Molcaxitl at the Outer Sunset Farmers’ Market on Sundays." - julia chen 1
"Smokin’ D’s is the only place in SF serving milk bread bao stuffed with Texas-style BBQ, so novelty alone is one reason to beeline to this Sunset takeout window. The other, of course, is to try the fantastic smoked meat that occupies the pillowy buns. Peppery brisket tastes like it spent an entire presidential term in a smoker, and the pulled pork with gochujang (stuffed into a bao and dubbed the “Korean Cowboy”) is juicy without being overly sauced. For now in their soft opening phase, the brisket or pulled pork baos are the only things on the menu—but look forward to sandwiches and indoor dining soon. photo credit: Julia Chen" - Julia Chen
"Now open in the Outer Sunset in the former Yum Yum Sushi House space, Daniel Ramirez serves Texas-style barbecue with notable Asian and Mexican influences — think brisket-stuffed bao and loaded nachos with creamy housemade queso." - Dianne de Guzman
