What an exceptional dinner experience at Smor Bistro! The balance of product quality and flavors is simply outstanding. A delightful surprise to discover such a harmonious fusion of French gastronomy and Danish influences—truly unique and brilliantly executed. Hats off to the chef for this remarkable culinary journey. The service was just as great as the venue: attentive, warm, and perfectly paced. The setting itself is wonderful, designed with great taste and creating a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. I always love telling my friends about truly talented chefs in Latvia, and this place is one of those absolute gems that makes me proud to do so. Unreal is exactly that; unreal creativity, unreal flavours, unreal execution. Every dish felt thoughtfully designed, bold yet perfectly balanced. The level of creativity coming out of this kitchen is exceptional, and the taste somehow still manages to exceed the visuals (which already say a lot). You can genuinely feel the passion and confidence behind every plate. A special mention has to go to our waiter Artūrs, who made the entire experience unforgettable. Attentive, knowledgeable, warm, and perfectly timed , hands down one of the best service experiences I’ve had. He elevated the evening from amazing to outstanding. And the oysters… there is simply no better oyster sauce than the one they’ve created here. Probably because Im Latvian and I love dill, but thats just my biased opinion lol Seeing SMÖR Bistro now included in the Michelin Guide is so well deserved. This is Latvian talent at its finest; creative, fearless, and world-class. If you’re in Riga and don’t go here, you’re genuinely missing out. We celebrated the end of the year 2025 with friends at SMØR Bistro, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. We reserved a table in advance after hearing many great reviews, and the restaurant truly lived up to them. The menu is impressive and beautifully crafted. To start, we enjoyed a fresh green salad and a beetroot tartar, both of which were exceptional in taste. I ordered the schnitzel, served with a delightful butter, caper, and anchovy sauce. The presentation was remarkable, with the waiter pouring the sauce tableside and sharing insights about the significance of SMØR. It was both informative and inspiring. My friends chose the venison patty and the cod, both dishes were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. For dessert, we savored the Basque cheesecake (my favorite dessert), which was absolutely perfect in texture and flavor. We also enjoyed the profiteroles, a chef’s special of the day, drizzled with chocolate sauce and accompanied by the waiter’s charming explanation. To top it all off, we were treated to a complimentary cranberry liqueur (by exclusive Latvian producer) from the chef at the end of the meal — truly the cherry on top of an already fantastic evening. The interior is elegant, cozy, and comfortable, with mirrors that create a sense of space and a refined atmosphere. We had an amazing time and will definitely return. Highly recommended!

Three steps below street level. Terracotta walls, marble-topped tables, warm lighting. Though new, this place has already collected a Michelin Bib Gourmand and the Opening of the Year award from the Michelin Guide Latvia. Its chef, Kaspars Barsukovs, was having the kind of year most of us only have on LinkedIn. SMØR is Danish for butter. A Latvian chef, trained in Scandinavian kitchens, opens a French brasserie in Riga, names it after a Danish word for a French obsession, and then cooks children of divorce to both traditions. Overall a very pleasant experience – highly recommended! Excellent food and service. The cod cheeks were incredibly tender, and the schnitzel was divine, the best I’ve ever had, especially with the tangy sauce. The cheesecake was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the burnt top balanced it nicely.

Unique experience!! An Amazing restaurant very welcoming interesting menu and the food was spectacular!! Just the green salad and compound butter and then the basil pasta and the most amazing pork schnitzel! And thanks very much to our witnesses that even took the time to explain about the restaurant your amazing!! Highly recommend.

One of my favorite restaurants for 2025 and surprisingly in Riga. An amazing experience from start to finish. The daily menu created by the chef is a delight. I loved the variety of dishes and how delicious every platter is. I hope to come back again to Riga just to dine in this restaurant.
