"Functioning as an outdoor food and craft market in Wynwood, this location closed on December 7 to make way for a residential building, a change its owner Gaston Becherano called bittersweet because Wynwood was where the community was first built. The team emphasized that the closure opens the door to new experiences, with plans for Smorgasburg to pop up monthly as the Little River Night Market at 7200 NW Second Avenue and to open in Fort Lauderdale, continuing to bring people together around great food, support local talent, and celebrate South Florida’s culture in fresh ways." - Laine Doss
"The open‑air market partners with Vita Coco for a “Coco Collection” that includes a floral art installation bar called “Greetings From” and vendors offering coconut‑themed dishes such as Coco Cold Brew and Golden Thai Coconut Curry Oysters. Dates: Dec. 6 (6 p.m.–midnight), Dec. 7 (noon–10 p.m.), and Dec. 8 (noon–8 p.m.) at 2600 NW 2nd Avenue in Wynwood." - Olee Fowler
"So you’ve been dragged to Wynwood on a weekend. You’ve managed to dodge clueless influencers, get mad-dogged by a drunk sun-blistered maid of honor, and now you need a break. Go to Smorgasburg, a huge outdoor food market with personal space and around 50 vendors. But go prepared. The vast majority of the market’s lot is unshaded and covered in gravel, so wear sunscreen and flat comfortable shoes. And because it’s hot most of the year, the winning strategy is claiming a shaded picnic table with your buddies and foraging for food in shifts. There are tons of rotating vendors, but tourists probably want some very Miami foods, so look for The Maiz Project, who make excellent arepas with fresh masa, and Dale Street-Food, who do smoky chorizo croquetas yakitori. But please remember, if you don’t want to hate yourself like that made-of-honor will for the next four days, use sunscreen." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"Smorgasburg is an outdoor food market that takes place Saturday and Sunday in Wynwood, and on Lincoln Road every Friday night. The Wynwood one has an impressive amount of vendors, a bar, and usually a DJ or live band. If you’re cool with crowds, a possible line, and whatever the weather is like that day, it can be fun. Vendors are always coming and going, so it’s hard to recommend a specific stand. But we like that Smorgasburg gives local chefs an opportunity to experiment, and at least one of its alumni have already gone on to launch a brick and mortar we like, The Wrapper." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
