The Best Gluten-Free Restaurants in Houston, Texas | Eater Houston

"At Snooze, gluten-free diners can start their mornings with a decadent twist on a Monte Cristo: brioche toast layered with crispy prosciutto, Gruyère and Jack cheeses, shaved ham, and a sunny-side-up egg. With multiple locations around Houston, Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, is easy to find — and even easier to navigate for gluten-free breakfast staples. Mix and match from the many egg Benedict variations (think habanero pork belly or smashed avocado), or sample three different pancake flavors as a part of Snooze’s pancake flight." - Brianna Griff

We had a delicious time at Snooze this morning! Ashton was our server and he was so amazing and attentive. My husband and I got spicy blood Mary’s (which were great) and then I got the crab cake Benedict which was SO good. We’re new to the area and will absolutely be returning

Google
Good place to have brunch with friends. Went there two times and tried out the Vegan Banana Bliss Pancakes, the Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes and the "SandwichI Am". The food was good overall, especially the vegan pancakes. The Strawberry Shortcakes were maybe a bit too sweet and too filling. Drink wise I would recommend an espresso, but also a delicious Rejuvenate Juice - which is made with pear, lemon, ginseng, agave, pear coconut water and Himalayan pink salt on the sides. What I didn't like was the small confusion and wait time for the waitress to clean the tables on our first day, and also on a different occasion: the wrong coffee order (2 times incorrect just for a cafe americano to take away).

Google
One of my favorite places to go. I love that you can reserve your place in line, even when it is crowded (and it’s always crowded). The hostesses and servers were very professional. We ordered the Pancake Flight, Bread Pudding French Toast and Chocolate Chip Cinnamon pancakes. I did not enjoy the flight as much as I usually do because 1) the order was incorrect (but was corrected by bringing the correct pancake) and the pancakes tasted doughy. The rest of the items were great including the ham, eggs and English muffin that I eventually ordered. The dining experience is always pleasant when I go into any Snooze establishment and this location was no exception. Parking is also free for the first two hours, which is an added bonus, when parking is at a premium.

Love the fresh omelets and veggies and delicious french toast! We love the outside seating. The staff is very personalable and they have very good customer service! Also great music selection! My daughter and I enjoyed our breakfast there!

Google
We got the Juan's breakfast tacos and the habanero pork belly Benny and a pancake. Everything we delicious and the green salsa was bomb! Service was great and quick.

Google
The service was very good. The server was attentive and friendly. This is one of our favorite breakfast chains due to the unique and delicious menu choices.

Google
THE BEST EGGS BENEDICT IN HOUSTON!! I’ve been on the hunt and finally found it!! Their HABANERO PORK BELLY BENNY IS OUTSTANDING!! It’s everything u never knew u needed!!The house-made bacon espresso jam, house-made cream cheese hollandaise and cranberry relish work perfectly together to enhance the flavor! The Chile Verde with pork is really flavorful too! What I really appreciate ( and haven’t seen anywhere else) is that if u aren’t able to decide, they offer Benny Duo so u may pick 2 favs!!

Google
Ate here at the 18th st location with my mother and son, there was literally a long ass piece of hair in my moms food my hash brown wasn’t hot at all, the “manager” came to the table he didn’t even comp the meal and then gave use some bullshit “coupons” for pancakes (that I don’t eat there) but he said we could get French toast with them. Came back to ANOTHER “manager” who said her team wouldn’t do that and they don’t even give those coupons out and then asked why he didn’t comp the meal (as if we would know!!) ending there was no resolution and we would NEVER COME back to that location!!

Yelp
They were able to accommodate out party of 12 around their busy time. The food may be a bit pricey but it's definitely higher quality than IHOP

Yelp
Food is always consistently great. I've been here a few times and each time I get something new to try. I have yet to be disappointed. I brought my parents here the last time and my Dad was so impressed with his pineapple upside down pancake ... so was I! I had the breakfast tacos with eggs and added barbacoa. They were delicious! The barbacoa was tender and tasty without all the grease that sometimes comes with other places tacos. I love the dressing it came with too. The hash browns were crispy and soft on the inside. The service is always timely and friendly. The place always looks clean. I think this is such an oldie but goodie spot. If you've never been, I would recommend coming and trying it out for yourself.

Yelp
What a perfect name for the place that singlehandedly managed to put me into a food coma following my meal. Food was pretty good. Everything I ate was delicious! I also loved how they had a lot of pork alternatives. Our server was super sweet and suggestive so no complaints about service. We opted to sit outside and I loved being able to enjoy my food and take in the Houston scenery! Would definitely return and recommend to those in the mood for some good breakfast comfort food.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot here in the heights! Snooze does a great job of making brunch cool and fun. They do have the boozy drinks along with really good breakfast. I tend to stay on the healthier side with black coffee and eggs but their menu caters to all to be honest! Greta vibes, always busy and fun.

Yelp
Houston, I missed you! I was taking my cousins out for a quick brunch and, admittedly, this was my rapid change-of-plans option. We had gone somewhere else but a 45 minute wait time was out of the question. Then I remembered the absolute convenience of being able to join the waitlist via Yelp. Got on that waitlist and a short drive and short wait later we were seated. We got different items and the French toast for the table. Speaking for them: the pork belly fried rice was enjoyable as it was gone in minutes. The corned beef hash was also quite lovely. I got the shrimp and grits and admittedly not the best I've had, and left quite a bit to be desired. The OMG French toast is my favorite menu item. I haven't been here in a while but somehow it tasted better than I remember! The volume of conversation in there wasn't obnoxious and felt we could have our own conversations without having to scream across the table at each other.

Yelp
Our breakfast was delicious and excellent service. One of my favorite places for eggs Benedict in Heights area.

Yelp
Walked in was seated immediately, since we had a 10:30a reservation. Was seated and Zach came over to greet my friends and I. From the introduction, Zach was able to give us a run down of the menu. Recommended everything was good. I ordered the Spud Deluxe with over hard egg. We ordered shots of alcohol, which we learned they do not sell any reposado all silver. They did have a bar in there. Zach did very well in serving and checking in. We ordered and it took about 15-20 minutes for food to show up. The spud deluxe was delectable and very savory. They do not offer turkey bacon as a protein. Overall, a pleasant experience. Ambiance was inviting. They close at 2:30pm.
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Beccah and Zach at the bar are amazing. The $12.95 mimosa was a bit of a sticker shock but it really is the best mimosa in town. Just a splash of juice. Loving the Bella Bella Benny with prosciutto and a balsamic glaze over the hollandaise. Pro Tip: Get here by 10am on a Sunday and there are still seats at the bar. Ride a motorcycle for the best parking.

Yelp
Update: The company will send out feedback no matter if it's positive or negative. They contacted me and they told me to visit their website and fill out a form. Unfortunately, they do not reply back if you fill out that form. I lowered my rating for the poor customer service. They definitely don't value their customers. I recommend eating here but don't be too generous with the tip. Above 15% is too much for sub par service. First of all, parking can be a headache depending on what time you go. If you go during the peak hours, you might have to wait for someone to leave or find some parking elsewhere. There is an abundance of seating whether it's inside or outside. Service was terrible. Our waitress took awhile to take our orders. Then she said she would do water refills but never came back with the pitcher. Our dirty plates were never taken away. This was on Friday, 12/22 at 12:25 pm. The food was delicious. That's why I'm rating this 3. It is kid friendly. -signature pancake flight - pineapple upside down, blueberry Danish, and sweet potato 5/5 - great way of trying multiple pancakes. Pineapple upside down tastes very delectable with the pineapple chunks inside of the pancakes. Blueberry Danish was not too sweet. Tastes just like the Danish pastries you get from grocery stores. The sweet potato had nice big pieces of nuts to give you that crunchy taste. I can taste the sweet potato within the pancake. -bacon but different 5/5 - you get that sweetness from the brown sugar rub then you get that mild kick afterwards from the cayenne and chili flakes. Not that spicy though. -chorizo 5/5 -chicken sausage 5/5 - cleaner and healthier alternative to the sausage patty. It tastes good. -ham 5/5 -omg! French toast 5/5 - the mascarpone compliments the warm brioche. Vanilla creme and caramel amplifies the taste.

Yelp
I frequent snooze often and it's always a love for me! Yesterday I tried the short rib loco moco and the orange cinnamon roll pancake (pancake of the week). The loco moco was what the description said it would be but it just wasn't my favorite. It wasn't bad just not what I probably would've wanted for brunch. The pancake was also pretty good but underneath all the glaze and cream it was a tad bit dry so I needed some syrup to soften it up.
google avatar

Jasmeen E.

Yelp
I came here looking for egg Benedict. I'm on a mission to find the best in Houston. They have a lot of different options but what caught my eye was the duo egg Benedict. Meaning you can mix and match. I had a chile verde Benny and a smashed avocado Benny. They both were very mild in flavor to me. It comes with a homemade hashbrown patty that also lacked in flavor. I also tried a Carmel latte and a camel cappuccino and they were decent. The service was good and they are attentive. The ambiance is nice with a lot of natural light coming in. They have indoor and outside seating.
google avatar

Reema G.

Yelp
This place is always a hit! I get the same thing each time; Juan's breakfast tacos. So good. Sometimes they put too much egg per taco that I just get grossed out. But I've been asking for light eggs so I don't get overwhelmed. It was my first time at this location. I usually go to the one in Post Oak. There aren't too many parking spots here, but it wasn't busy when I visited so it wasn't a problem. Our server Bri was great!
google avatar

Markiesa B.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast while staying in Houston. Parking was a bit tight but we found a spot. There wasn't a wait so we got seated right away. I got the blueberry crumble pancakes which came with 2 big pancakes. Sides are not included by the way. I almost finished both my pancakes but it is a lot and the server did warn us of the size. The menu has a lot so it was a bit overwhelming but overall I had a good experience there.

Yelp
I have never been disappointed at a Snooze. I've been so many times. Haven't been here to this location but a few times. This morning I met a friend for breakfast. Food and service was great as always. We both enjoyed our drinks and breakfast. Clean bathroom. Parking is in the back, lots of spots at 8am on a weekday. There weren't many people dining. I ordered the avocado benny with a lavender latte. We stayed a little long so I eventually ordered a matcha latte as well. I preferred the matcha over the lavender latte. Sweeter. Love their hashbrowns!
google avatar

Mel S.

Yelp
Always excellent pancakes, total up beat load happening vibe. Try anything I love everything unless the cook undercooks my pancakes or eggs I've never had a complaint at any snooze. Coffee is a bit watered down, juices are cool. I continue to patronize because the the flavors are great!
google avatar

Kianna W.

Yelp
This location is 10/10. On a Sunday for brunch , I made reservations online. My cousin and I were starved and we wanted good quality food. Within 40 min waiting time we were seated. Now I know that sounds like a lot but it took us more than 30 minutes to arrive... so we were on time for our table. Service was fast and swift, definitely based on service alone I would return. The ambiance felt like new age hip hop meets Up state New York. I had cranberry juice (no ice), and the shrimp and grits. It was phenomenal!
google avatar

Gloria M.

Yelp
This place has become my go-to place for breakfast. The food is constantly good and service is always pleasant. While this place can get busy, everyone seems to enjoy their moment - good vibe. Staff does make an effort to keep the place clean. This has become my Friday morning routine.
google avatar

Lagacia S.

Yelp
Good service. Great food. No complaints. Loved the variety of the menu. I enjoyed a meal that I've never seen on any menu and now need to try to recreate it at home one day!
google avatar

J W.

Yelp
Food was all very good and pretty big portions on all dishes. Good hash browns. Pretty good breakfast burrito with a nice Verde sauce on the side. Eggs Benedict were well cooked with a decent hollandaise. So, food pretty good all around.
google avatar

Sonie P.

Yelp
Great spot for brunch! Reminds me of a lively diner. It's busy, but easy to add yourself to the waitlist through Yelp, and once you do so, tends to be accurate and move timely. Service was friendly, and even when they were backed up, they were still considerate. They have outdoor and indoor seating. They offer alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. We really enjoyed the breakfast burrito and their newer addition to the menu, the elote pasta (has a much clever name on the menu). All in all, a good classic brunch!
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Loved it! The food was delicious. I got the single pancake and an order of hash browns. The pancake was perfect and the potatoes were delicious. The server was very nice and efficient. I got the honey oat milk latte and it was extremely good. The place is clean and parking was fine. We were there around 10:30 on a Wednesday morning and had a wonderful experience. I don't normally like a chain restaurant but this is really good. Wish I had taken a pic of our food. My friend had the strawberry shortcake pancake and it looked amazing
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
Meh. There's always a crowd here for whatever reason, and now that I've been here, I cannot understand why. Came here for brunch with a friend and was wildly disappointed by the quality of the food. The only saving grace was the bacon and I don't even like bacon. The service, however, was quick and friendly, which I greatly appreciated. With so many brunch places in Houston, I won't be returning.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Great food and a creative breakfast menu. Parking may be challenging due to street construction and the restaurant's popularity. Not their fault! The ability to join the waitlist while en route is great too! Definitely a must try for Houston breakfast.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
Love snooze, love the food, but this location has never been a good experience and I've always come back hoping for better but sadly never. No server is good.
google avatar

Elizabet R.

Yelp
The mimosas at snooze are the bomb. These are the PALOMIMOSA and MMM MMM MIMOSA. The first one is made with grapefruit and I substituted pineapple for the orange in the second one.
google avatar

Rae S.

Yelp
The decor is casual and cute. The menu has some unique items on it. The food could've used some seasoning. Nothing to write home about but it was definitely worth a first try. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I would try Snooze again just for the drinks.

Humberto F.

Yelp
Great food!! One of our favorite breakfast places, would definitely recommend it to anyone
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
It was just okay. Nothing to write home about. It certainly wasn't worth the wait that we had. Even the pineapple mimosa mid. I was pretty disappointed. It's also a pretty small restaurant, so the tables are incredibly close together.
google avatar

Macy B.

Yelp
Snooze food is okay but it is a fun place to get together for a brunch. I ordered the sweet potato smash and I found it to be greasy and filling. The staff was all very attentive and wonderful.
google avatar

Rick Y.

Yelp
First time coming by for breakfast. The place was busy for sure but that's expected on a weekend. The staff was polite and helpful. The pancakes were really tasty. We got the pancake flight of blueberry, chocolate chip, and strawberry. My favorite would be between the blueberry and strawberry but my wife would tell you chocolate chip! Preference really. They were small and thin but tasty. I would definitely have again. Eggs , bacon, and hash brown were good but not out of the world. Drop coffee was fresh and good tasting. I will definitely go back and try some other food items. -Rick
google avatar

Shelby E.

Yelp
Used to love coming to Snooze. However, the last few times were subpar. This one particular hostess is rude and unhelpful. She always has an attitude and is unfriendly. She straight up told me there was no wait list as she put me on said waitlist that didn't exist and that I've used MULTIPLE times. Every time I come in and she is the hostess, it's a very unpleasant interaction. The service was AWFUL this last time. I saw my waitress maybe 3 times and one of the other employees had to tell her that we needed her a few times. She was inattentive and veryyyy slow. I understand it was busy but it turned a usually 45 min to an hour brunch into 2 hours simply due to waiting. Food and drinks came out in normal time because other ppl were running things. I'll probably go to a different location next time.
google avatar

Cindy V.

Yelp
Got there around 12 and was told there was a 20 min wait and according to the waitlist I was number 21 in line. By 1:30 I was still 19th in line and they were going to be closing in an hour so I just canceled and went some where else.
google avatar

Carolina V.

Yelp
The pineapple and strawberry shortcake pancakes were delicious and the snooze classic is so good! Totally recommend this place!

Kaitlyn B.

Yelp
Great food. great service, great ambiance. This place is always my top breakfast/brunch place. I have even been to the one in college station and it is just as good all around.
google avatar

Adaelisa M.

Yelp
Great for a diner style casual brunch always pretty crowded on weekends but we never have an issue getting a table fairly quickly. Big portions but not going for the healthy things.

Myles C.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I travel for work quite a bit, and Snooze bacon and sausage is among the top three in the US (in my humble opinion).

Frito S.

Yelp
Good portion sizes, food is DELICIOUS, and the prices are pretty cheap. Very casual vibes with quick service.
google avatar

Crescida J.

Yelp
Stopped in for Saturday brunch and sat at the bar. Excellent bar menu. Mimosa was mediocre. Food selection is outstanding for a brunch place and vibe is trendy mid-century. Most importantly, the food came out SUPER quickly and was VERY TASTY! The puked hash brown with cheeses was DIVINE. Comes with two toppings, and I chose bacon (which was cooked in and seasoned very well) and avocado (sliced in top). Omelet came with a small side salad with tasty vinaigrette dressing and was the perfect side! Will DEF come back when in the Heights!
google avatar

Tressa E.

Yelp
I love they have Vegan and Vegetarian options. Vegan pancakes , and great drinks. As much my daughter and I go, I haven't taken any pics. I have a friend coming in town today , so I'll update with pics if we go. The waitstaff is always friendly too.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
Say good morning to your body by eating breakfast Must haves: Corn beef hash - the cream of the crop! This was my favorite dish of all. Quite meaty and the hash browns wrapped in tortilla was delish! Habanero pork belly Benedict - was definitely a game changer. If you love a fatty meal - this is for you. Han eggs Benedict - second best, but a close runner. The egg melded well with the ham. -Spuds deluxe - not my absolute favorite, but I may or may not give it a second chance.

Steve F.

Yelp
Love the food! When you order online, it takes long than the estimated time they say.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Good quality plates. Good coffee drinks and selection to choose from iced or hot. Overall very impressed with this place for breakfast.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Service was excellent! Our waitress always made sure we were doing okay and had everything that we needed. The food was not too bad. I had the 3 egg omelet and my boyfriend had the benny duo. For the 3 egg omelet I chose to put mushroom, bacon, and cheese. The toast was extremely good. The hashbrown was a bit too much for me, but it was delicious nonetheless. Next time I don't think I'm gonna get the bacon because it was a bit too much for me. The benny duo was pretty good, but my boyfriend said that the pork belly (from the habanero pork belly benny) wasn't as good as he liked. The vanilla almond matcha tea latte was super good!! You have the option to switch your milk if you don't like almond milk. I definitely will come back for the matcha tea latte and to try other things on the menu.
google avatar

Arrionna D.

Yelp
Awesome food and great service! We were back the next week lol. Shout out to Kristina who was a great server

Quenten T.

Yelp
Fantastic place for breakfast or lunch definitely will come back again server was definitely one of the nicest people I've met, and she was very attentive to our needs and changes
google avatar

Courtnie L.

Yelp
Good place for brunch for the family and/or with friends. They have a pretty good drink selection and a variety of brunch style food. We joined the waitlist and were seated pretty close to the time stated. It was first available and unfortunately the was outside (in Houston...in the summer ‍) service was pretty good as well.
google avatar

Diana N.

Yelp
3.5 stars Chile verde pork benedict $13.25- smaller than I remember and the eggs were still runny, but overall very tasty. Good hashbrowns. Bacon (3) $4.95- good and crispy Pancake Flight $11.95- funky monkey (I love banana bread!), pineapple upside down, sweet potato. Our preferences in that order. Mmmm. Also smaller than I remember $5 off when you sign up for the app!
google avatar

CapN E.

Yelp
For my first time eating here, it was fairly pleasant. Two glaring aspects stop this from being a 5 star. The parking situation was horrific. Chances are you will have to wait for a spot to open up. The second is the wait time to be seated. We waited for about an hour to get a table for 2. It wouldnt be that way if the patio was opened for dining. DEFINITELY make a reservation. Other than that, everything else was very good. The service was fantastic. I ended up getting a house blend coffee black and it was very good. To eat I got the spuds deluxe with chorizo and bacon. It was packed full of flavor. The hash browns were cooked perfectly and so were the over easy eggs. The food is definitely a 10/10
google avatar

Kevin Y.

Yelp
Went there twice while visiting Houston and had amazing breakfasts! Our family had pancacke flights, eggs Benedict, traditional breakfasts and the breakfast burrito. The menu items were all amazing and the variety of tastes and options were terrific. If you are looking for an option to the "standard" breakfast places this is your next place to try! Weekdays were easy to get a table, but I hear weekends can be tough. Probably best to "Get in Line" on their website.
google avatar

Yelp
First visit, great food, great service! Atmosphere is a little busy, slightly loud, but no different than your usual breakfast spot. I'll be back
