High quality camping and outdoor equipment. One of only 2 stores in the US. Very helpful staff. Free parking behind the store.

When visiting Portland to check out new products, this is the first place I visit. I bought a new tea set, and visiting outdoor stores like this always lifts my spirits. I recommend checking out the Snow Peak brand, which offers endless combinations .

This brand has the most thoughtfully-made, functional, and lightweight camping gear on the market! We had just planned to window shop, but one of the store's very attentive employees, Peter, gave us an incredibly informative and personalized tour of the store and the gear, introducing us to some nifty, affordable options that we ended up purchasing. We're stoked to elevate our outdoor experience! Big thanks to Peter!

Google
What a neat store that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the Snow Peak universe. It's like a minimalist, designer version of REI that makes camping seem fun and trendy. Be careful or else you might find yourself overly inspired as you impulse a full camping set. The staff here is great, eager to explain what makes their products unique and demonstrate how to use them. It seems they take a long term approach to acquiring customers, which is great for not feeling pressured to buy something and take time to decide what's right for you. Overall, definitely check out this unique outdoors store if you find yourself in Portland.

This Japanese camping store is worth checking out for a different take on camping equipment and high aesthetics.

The staff is friendly but everything is extremely expensive. Well, the price also comes with quality. You can get the best camping gear here at Snow Peak’s HQ in North America.

Google
Snow Peak Is a great place to find great quality outdoor activity products. Like camping gear, hiking gear and so much more. They have a variety of designs for tents and many other equipment, products, and accessories. With high-quality products comes a high price, which is reasonable compared to what you are getting in other stores. Customer service at this location was so nice and friendly, really welcoming. I recommend checking it out if you require any outdoor equipment.

Google
Snow Peak is the place to go to get your glamping equipment. 🥰 They have a nice selection of apparel and quality camping equipment. Be sure to stop at Takibi in the back to eat when you are done shopping. 🍜🍜🍜

Yelp
Snow Peak has been in Oregon for 20+years but this was my first time in their new store. The selection of tents, camping furniture and cookware is displayed in a relaxing atmosphere. It's very much the museum vibe inside this store. Lots of space to wonder and camp gear displays spread out across 2 floor levels. Employees were super helpful and shared some great knowledge. The price point is premium with tents priced at $1,000 and camping chairs and tables priced at $200. There's a ton of cool features and several items have a modular design like the outdoor grill and cooktop station. Each Snow Peak item is meticulously designed for function, style and durability. Table tops were made from bamboo and aluminum components. I was mesmerized at how chairs and tables folded up neatly. Snow peak is also launching a restaurant in the back called Tabiki? Hoping they offer yakitori and other Japanese cuisine. Also heard some award winning cocktails from local talent will be in the menu. Shopping and food? That's a winning combo.

Yelp
Quality matters. Passion for camping and outdoor lifestyle, well-designed pieces and equipments, simple but cool design. Japan is a famous for craft work and this company has an integrity to deliver the best products with purpose, efficiency and durability. It may be a little pricy(?) but You will be happy about your investment. Located in pearl, also finds items at REI, And I just check out new gears released in 2019 along with knife sharpening demo by @satosharpening and his buddy, spike. You can do everything while you are camping. They got fire pit, smoker, pizza frill, takoyaki maker, futon couch, cots in a tent... make outdoor a lot more fun!

Yelp
Stopped by on a daytrip to Portland during the quarantine, and was pleasantly surprised by how easy the visit was. There's a few parking spots behind the store, because there were so few people out and about due to the quarantine, we had no problem finding parking, which is great. The store itself is impeccable and extremely clean and well stocked. It was amazing to see all their COVID safety measures. The staff was very mindful of social distancing and were all wearing masks. They provided alcohol in the store as well. Ended up picking up a few things including an exclusive anodized camping spoon which was great. Can't wait for my next visit!

Yelp
My son is half black and the employees followed him around the store the whole time we where there! Didn't even bother to ask what I was looking for, incredibly disgusting! Won't ever return

Yelp
Was very hyped to visit Snow Peak in Portland. The moment I walk in I ask one of the employees who was standing near the front of the store where the men clothings are, then he gives me a lot of attitude telling me the clothing is unisex. Upon looking at the clothings he stares me browse to the clothing with his hands behind his back, making it very uncomfortable as he kept staring. I understand that there is probably a lot of thief going on, but to just blatantly stare at a customer around he whole store is very uncomfortable. Luckily the other employee who I approached for some sizing information was very pleasant and informative.

Yelp
I don't usually write reviews but we had a very bizarre experience today. My husband and I stopped in to look at a tent we saw in the window. Neither of us had been there before. I asked the woman working there a question to clarify the pricing and she could not possibly have been more standoffish and uninterested. She replied with a one word response "It's ivory" and turned away. We were pretty taken aback. Thanks for explaining the color ivory to us :/. The store and products are very beautiful but she literally made us feel like she didn't want to sell their products. Definitely will never be back after that.

Yelp
We like snow peak products and the brand. My family had spent thousands of dollars on snow peak products from Portland store in the past years.  We've generally liked the products. This summer, we had a chance to visit Portland store. One of our newest snow peak tents' pole was bent badly after 2 time use, so we decided to bring it in to discuss about the options (if we can purchase a new pole or if they can take a look and fix it). The store rep happily accepted to fix, and we were told it will take about 2 weeks, then they will ship to us. We left the store happy after we enjoyed shopping and spent a few hundred dollars, and that was in August. After a month, so updates. I started to kindly email to ask for updates. I did not hear back on my replies, and almost 2 months passed. We had a big camping trip coming and had to have the pole back. Finally 2 weeks prior to our trip, my husband sent an email mentioning about the trip and have to have it back, then a rep replied to my husband's email and they shipped out our pole right away. We finally got it back after 2 months, and it was a bad surprise to find out that nothing had been done and the pole is bent as it was. There were no explanations or memos in the package. It was clear that the rep missed to forward our pole to their service team, and the rep forgot or did not take care of this order and just sent us back as is. Good products, at a very high price, but absolutely no commitment to the aftercare and quality of the products and customer service.  We will no longer purchase their products. It's very sad because we are from Japan and wanted to support the company in the U.S.

Yelp
For anyone not familiar with Snow Peak, it's a Japanese company that specializes in premium camping gear and boy do I mean PREMIUM. As a proud owner of a Snow Peak plate, green spork, and now Ti-Double mug with collapsible handles, I can attest to the durability, lightness, and portability the titanium material can provide in Snow Peak's simple, elegant, and efficient designs. I can also confirm these items are not cheap so thank goodness for Oregon's sales tax exemption laws. This Snow Peak store was the only Snow Peak store in the United States until a couple of months ago and while small, features all the Snow Peak stuff, as well as other products campers and clampers would want to enjoy Mother Nature in style. On both occasions I was there, I was helped by friendly and knowledgeable staff. While you would better served by going to an REI or a Big 5 as a one stop shop for all things camping related, it's clear that the items the Snow Peak Store sells aren't items you can find anywhere and are worth checking out in person.

Yelp
I was so excited to see that Snow Peak had a store in Portland and it was "just open" while in town for a business trip. While the Snow Peak website has fantastic photography and magazines like Outside and Backpacker have rave reviews on their products, it's great to be able to see actual product before making a hefty purchase. This is the place to do just that! Great lighting and cooking products. Not everything is made for backpacking, but it's nice to pack in "luxury" items like a titanium cup and silverware on a trip. Other products like shelters, furniture and grills are perfect for car camping. $60 copper head hammer? I want one. I could truly spend a fortune here.

Yelp
Went in for a $30 cup. Purchased."Do you have a restroom?" "NO" by law you do. Don't bother allowing a customer who just spent there hard earned money to use there restroom. Displays were dusty, store was expected, nicely dressed and outdoor feeling. Snow Peaks items are high quality and spendy you will get what you pay for. . Too bad the store doesn't allow for there customers to use the restroom though. Super dumb!

Yelp
Love. This. Store. The old one on 14th was tiny - the new one on 23rd is amazing: spacious, gracious, considered. The folks working there are top-notch, and the gear is artwork you can live. Each piece is a story: the sheer care, thought and quality that goes into making them is mind-blowing and some of the most amazing features you won't even notice until you use them - they are that good. We got the Takibi Fire/Grill as a splurge gift and LOVE IT - perfect coast setup for grilling dogs and burgers one day, skewers the next. It creates a happy place, burns logs down to cooking charcoal in no time. I cannot recommend this place highly enough - and their new restaurant, Takibi, hasn't even opened yet. When it does, I plan to camp there.

Yelp
Had an issue with a product I ordered it wasn't shipped out all week. I'd like to thank Kasey for resolving my issue in a timely manner and shipping out my items that same day.

Yelp
Snow Peak. Japanese Design. Outdoor Gear. There are huge segments of Japanese manufactured goods that never make it here. Tokyu Hands is the classic hardware department store, and there is a whole district devoted to wholesale Japanese hard goods. They are your Japanese source for elegantly designed everyday hardware and household items. Great if you can visit. I have admired this company from afar and now they have come to Portland. Snow Peak makes camping stoves, lighting, tables, cookware and shelters. They have been doing pop-ups in connection with Nau and now they have decided to open their first USA retail store. They do have some unique items like titanium sporks and straws. Even titanium hip flasks. Their backpacking and camp stoves are beautiful. The retail store hosts some compatible lines, like Nau and Zeal. With the current exchange rate between the Dollar and the Yen, their gear is expensive, but well made and light weight. It will easily last a generation or two and I wouldn't be surprised to see it become collectable, like Dieter Rams' work for Braun or Eames. Most of their products would be suitable for car camping, not backpacking. It's well designed but not precious. Let's hope they have an influence on some of the outdoor cluster companies here. And like many outdoor companies they are creating a narrative around their products: http://dictionary.snowpeak.com/, an idea pioneered by Yvon Chouinard's company. Cool camping stuff and a design inspiration, from Japan to Portland.

Yelp
High-design camping? It seems a little contradictory. But Portland being the living contradiction that it is, it's no surprise that Japanese-made Snow Peak has centered its first US store and US HQ here in PDX. And when it comes down to it, the idea isn't as contradictory as you think. Camping products are among those that benefit most from high design concepts. Maximizing functionality while minimizing space/weight is essential to enjoyable backpacking and camping. And any help we can have leaving no trace is appreciated. The products on sale here are not cheap, but they seem to be of the quality that will last forever. Everything from cups to stoves to shelters to clothes. Tables, folding chairs, cookware... they have it all. They even stock Nau clothing and some sweet backpacks. And lots of ingenious lighting devices. So very cool. I am super excited to drop back in here and do some serious shopping. My first visit was just to quickly browse. I will likely break my wallet next time I drop in.

Yelp
I feel bad for not asking for his name but he will know who I am if he reads this. I was in the store earlier today because I work for REI and we sell their products. Found out it's the only store in North America since they're based out of Japan. Very awesome concept as far as luxury backpacking with high end products. Considering I was the only customer there, I got a lot of attention and the guy answered all of my questions. He even gave me a little demonstration with the backpacking blowtorch after asking what it was. "You have a camera?" I leaned in to get a closer look and 'FWOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHH' he lit the damn thing up and surprised the hell out of me. Five minutes later, I ended up purchasing it because it is a pretty awesome little gadget for $40. Nice guy and a great little store for die hard snow peak fans.

Yelp
Updating my review form 1 Star to 5 stars. I just placed another large order. There was an issue that was my fault. Snow peak (Alex) was exceptionally cool and resolved for me. Happy to see that the customer service has evolved to measure up to their fantastic products.

Yelp
High end Japanese camping gear store. My husband has been getting their beautiful catalogs for years but it's nice to touch & feel in person. Very cool modern designs but pricey. You do find yourself wanting everything in the store so that you can be the styling camper.

Brad B.

Yelp
My snow peak headlamp needed some service so I mailed it in, and they sent me back a brand new one no charge! Super friendly and helpful, no hassle. Megan was super nice. Great company and helpful employees-thanks Snow Peak!

Yelp
Summary: horrific customer service policy. Details: Some of their products are great--I have quite a few--and the designs are cool, but their folding coffee cone does not work--the bottoms of the filters blow out. They are aware of this problem. After my purchase and having discovered the problem, I returned to the store to attempt a return. They convinced me to try some troubleshooting. I followed their suggestions--different size filters, different brand filters, folding the filters, but to no avail: still left with most of the grounds in my cup. Finally, I went back to the store (third trip back) and asked for my money back, or at least store credit. They refused on both counts, all the while admitting that the design has problems. On both of my visits the manager was out "getting food," and while the poor automatons left staffing the till were able to reach her via cell phone, none of them could see the wisdom of standing behind their product or maintaining me as a customer.
