Yelp
I've attempted to dine here twice. The people here are incredibly nice, but as a whole, this place needs a Business Coach.
Visit 1. A friend and I decided to try this place for some snacks. The bar was full, but the tables were pretty empty. We ordered the house red, and we barely each got 1 glass full because the bar "ran out of wine." Ok, this seems like a beer place, no huge deal. We asked for the cheese board. Our waiter admitted, "We're out of that, too." We thought it was hilarious. We decided to just shrug it off and order Bourbon brownie sundaes, which were AMAZING. Our server had a great sense of humor & although he was pulling double duty, he definitely checked on us frequently. He was very clear to mention it was "Cash Only" and although it's a little annoying, I appreciated the ATM for easy access. Our server mentioned that we should definitely come back and try the burgers!
Visit 2. I remembered that nudge of the last Snowdonia visit when I was feeling extra carnivorous. I came in by myself around 5 on a Friday and it was totally dead. The bartender gave me great advice on which burger to try; I settled on the Mumbles Byrgyr with a side of Brussels sprouts. The bartender put the order in the que and then said, "Just to let you know, the chef isn't here right now; I don't really know where he is but hopefully he'll be here soon." Would've been nice to know that before our burger conversation... he did half heartedly say, "I'll knock the price if you're waiting awhile."
I patiently waited for 30 minutes. The owner and his wife arrived with some supplies, but no one who resembled a chef. As my burger wasn't even in prep mode yet, I finally said, "Hey, I'm really hungry, and I'm probably going to leave after this drink." Finally, with urgency, the owner of the restaurant fired up the grill. I still waited. Maybe 20 more minutes? I was really hungry. So hungry that when the burger came out, I inhaled it. The Mumbles burger was VERY delicious and I really liked how it's served on an English muffin. The Brussels sprouts were good, but, I think they were lacking cheese. Instead of asking about options (Parmesan? Or its Welsh cousin?), I decided that cheese-less Brussels sprouts were better than waiting a half hour for cheese.
I got my check - cleverly served in a book instead of a black sleeve - and alas: no patience discount.
C'est la vie.
Snowdonia, I have hope for you. Your food is scrumptious and your bartenders are likable. I just need you to get a little more organized (and maybe a lecture to the chef about showing up on time) before I can give you 5 stars.
