So Sushi in Tarzana is one of our favorite spots! The food is always fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is great, relaxed, clean, and perfect for a night out. The service is absolutely fantastic. Christine is the best! We love her! she always takes such great care of us and makes every visit special. The only downside is that it can be a bit pricey. Overall, So Sushi is an amazing place, and we always look forward to coming back!

So Sushi is a fantastic find in Tarzana! The sushi here is not only incredibly fresh but also beautifully presented and creatively crafted – just take a look at the vibrant rolls in the picture! Top notch sushi and sashimi in the valley??? Yes! Right here in Tarzana, too. We started with edamame followed by sashimi, gyoza, sushi, ikura —and all of it was awesome!! The service was excellent: Putri took care of us from the moment we sat down. (I really hope I’m spelling her name correctly.) We will certainly be returning for another fabulous dinner. Highly recommend!

So apparently This place has been Around for along time but they just moved to this new location in the same parking shopping center ! Their sushi as so tasty !!! I love discovering these places I’ve missed out on , and have no idea how ???!!! Cause I’ve been living in this Area for over 8 years ;) What I like is that everything is super fresh and unlike other places you don’t wait forever for your food to arrive! The place is well designed and very clean It’s a great place to eat dinner with friends or family. Prices I’d say range from $20-50 per person I’ve already been there at least like 4 times in the last month so if it wasn’t that good I wouldn’t go back and you know I love to write about my great experience or the other way around There is also lots of free parking in the shopping center for free as well The only thing they need to work on is the service to pay a bit more attention to what you request But again the sushi is Fabulous!!! And if you are a sushi lover I highly recommend this spot!!! Enjoy :)) I only have some pho cause we were hungry and ate fast lol but I promise to update with more photos on my next visit

Tasteless and overpriced. Got 3 items 2 drinks (they don’t do refills) and don’t tell you till after … ended up spending $77. Guy at bar kept messing up order and charged us for 2 pieces we didn’t order and acknowledged he made a mistake. He also messed up the order for couple next to us. Tuna shashimi is very fishy cut thick in huge squares and dry. Everything is bland and no flavor unless you like the taste of the ocean. Chopped yellowtail spicy roll didn’t taste like yellowtail and was not spicy at all tasted like blob of mayo. Customer service is bad too. Not at all attentive. If you like sushi don’t go here. If you like bland fishy sauceless sushi and wasting money, this place is for you. I’ve had better grocery store sushi.

From the first moment we walked in to the last, the service and atmosphere was amazing! Absolutely wonderful experience! Went with my friend to grab sushi and came upon this place. Located very close to the freeway and there is a good amount of parking! We got the specialty roles and asked for some recommendations. We got #10 and #18 (lo solantro). Both delicious spicy salmon rolls! The solantro role was a little spicy and had cilantro on it so me mindful. I personally loved it! The vibes were also wonderful! Will definitely be coming back here when in the mood for sushi.

Celebrating my 30th birthday at So Sushi with lunch omakase, and honestly, it couldn't have been better. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting--just the right mix of chic and comfortable. Perfect for something special but still low-key, which is exactly what I was looking for. The staff was so kind and attentive. They made me feel really welcomed, and as a sweet surprise, they gave me free matcha ice cream to celebrate my birthday. It was such a thoughtful touch and really made my day feel even more special. The food? Amazing. Every single piece of sushi was so fresh and flavorful, and you can tell the chef puts so much care into every detail. If you're thinking about treating yourself (or someone else), I can't recommend So Sushi enough. It was such a memorable way to kick off my 30th!

Went saturday night with reservation and were immediately seated, we chose bar. Great items: hostess, the chef's, albacore sushi. Decent/good items: blue fin tuna. Could improve: yellowtail sashimi - was sad, small, and huge pieces of jalapeno that were BIGGER than the sashimi. Rolls were weak too, we had rainbow that was just fish on top and crab inside, no avocado no cucumber, same with the lemon roll was weak. Overall 3.5 out of 5; wouldn't really go back. Ambiance - nice seating for larger groups, for 2 people choose the bar otherwise its awkward seats in the middle of the room in the middle of ton of foot traffic. Super bright lights also, would suggest toning down.

I went for a Friday night dinner and made a reservation, it was busy and loud when I got there. We were seated right away with a reservation. We ordered the Crispy SO WHAT tacos, Garlic Shrimp Roll, SO just eat roll, and Negitoro roll. The Crispy SO WHAT tacos are a small starter, but deliciously with the mix. I really like the sauce for the Garlic Shrimp Roll, I was soaking up the roll pieces in it and it had nice chunks in it. The SO just eat roll had a variety of textures with crispy onions, albacore on top, and so what mix inside the roll- overall great roll choice. We finished with the negitoro roll which just melts in your mouth. Our waitress was helpful & attentive the whole time. Parking- shared big lot with other businesses

First time trying So Sushi in the new space. Everything was delicious! I want to eat the salmon roll everyday! It was that good. Lovely ambiance w hanging greenery. It would be best to make a reservation. Service was perfect. Highly recommend.

Clean restaurant, fast friendly service. The sushi here is SO incredibly fresh. Expertly cut and beautifully arranged by professionals at their craft. It's some of the best we've ever had. We will be back to try other items on the menu.

It was good. It would've been a 2 hr wait on Saturday night to get a table but we only waited 30 min for the bar but you have to put your name down in person. While waiting, one of the hostess was providing us some service so that was nice. We had the chef spoil us with what he thought was best. We got some white fish, albacore belly, one of their specialty rolls the So Loco. It all tasted fresh some of it was kind of bland not worth the price. The ambiance is nice nothing so special. Not sure how the old space looked but I think it's a little bigger.

Location 4: In Tarzana, CA in the SFV, off of Ventura Blvd in a private shopping plaza. Plenty of self-parking. Venue 4: Brand new location in the same shopping plaza, right across from the old location. Just remodeled and moved in, in the Summer of 2024. They had 2 smaller locations (within a mile of each other) that have merged into this one much larger venue. Very upscale, nicely decorated venue, a far cry from the much smaller and cramped, utility-minded locations they had before. Comfortable and spacious but a little too brightly lit IMHO. Large sushi bar area. Indoor tables and booths as well as outdoor seating. They take reservations. If you can get one (it fills up quickly), so you will not have to wait long during busy times. Service 3: Polite and frequent. Our server was friendly and attentive. Our order was taken quickly, and food came quickly as well, but they got one of our rolls wrong. Food 2.5: Nice assortment of small Japanese plates, sushi and rolls, although they used to have a larger menu before. Plating and presentations are very nice. However, I have been going to So Sushi since the first location opened about 10 years ago and I am sad to report that the quality of fish is not what it used to be. Everything we ordered this time around not only tasted a little fishy and stale (and this was on a Saturday night) but at the same time lacked flavor and impact. Their pricing has also gone quite a bit above the norm compared to similar restaurants. Drinks 3: Smaller assortment of beer, sake, wine, soft drinks and tea. Pricing is a little above the norm. Draft beer is very pricey for its size. The last word 3: Nice place to relax and have some sushi, but not one of my first choices any longer!

Our favorite spot for sushi in the valley! We love that they moved to a bigger restaurant it's so clean and spacious! We order the Omakase and leave it up to Chiefs and they never disappoint! They are so great at telling us what they have available. The fish is so fresh and they have selections not at other restaurants. Some of our favorites are the Snappers, Amber Jack, King Salmon. Give them a try and you will be coming back over and over!

We always have a great experience here and it's even better with their new location. Menu items are excellent and a service is great and it is always well staffed. Tonight, however, we had an experience that needs to be mentioned. We sat at the end of the sushi bar next to the kitchen and, because of that, we saw everything happening right in front of us. This is also the area where they assemble takeout orders. A young lady named Christine was continually wiping her nose after sneezing all while putting together the takeout orders, touching containers, napkins, etc.. I'm sure this goes on in every restaurant, but it's disgusting. Just a note to management, please continually remind your staff to wash their hands, especially if they find the need to use those hands to touch a part of their body.

I have to say, the new location is so much better. It's much bigger and well designed. However, I was a bit disappointed with the food. The calamari appetizer did not taste like calamari at all. I ordered a shrimp tempura handroll with no rice and they were so skimpy with the shrimp tempura. They put one tiny piece. Most places I go always put 2 pieces, so that was disappointing. The albacore carpaccio was okay. I wish the pieces were cut more finely. My favorite thing was the halibut carpaccio. That actually tasted really good. The so #2 handroll was also good. All in all, I was a bit disappointed, but I would coke back for the halibut.

I've been to So Sushi twice in the last two weeks because my best friend and I could not get over how delicious, how fresh, and how melt in your mouth the sushi was. It's so rare to find a sushi restaurant in LA that not only serves quality sushi but has the vibe and service that So Sushi has. Please do not walk in, it will literally always be busy, get a reservation if possible. The first time we walked in and were shocked at how busy it was. But we did have the opportunity to sit at the bar and be served by Taka himself (the owner and mastermind behind so sushi) his skills are insane and there was not one thing he served up we did not like. So sushi has easily! EASILY!! become my favorite sushi place in the valley.

Came upon this sushi place on Yelp with good reviews and decided to try. I was able to make a same day reservation on open table on a Friday. When we get there at 5:30 the walk in wait time was like 2-3 hrs, so I suggest making reservations. We ordered a bunch of sushi to try. Overall the quality of the fish was really great! The stuffed squid and the salmon skin hand roll were tasty too. I would like to come back and try their So Sushi Club sometime in the future! Oh and free/easy parking is definitely a plus too!

One of our favorite sushi place- moved and beautifully remodeled. Everything looks and tastes great, and the service is excellent. The staff was accommodating and attentive. The place was busy and buzzing even on a Sunday night. We had soft shell crab, Amberjack and Yellowtail sashimi, big oysters, and some cold sake. Can't wait to come back! Thank you all!

My husband and I have been eating at SoSushi pre-pandemic, during the pandemic with takeout and now in their new location. We LOVE their sushi, the quality, service, and everything. We tried the SoSushi Club last night with Chef Ryo and it is the best omakese experience I have ever had. I've done omakase at all the hot LA spots and Chef Ryo really outdid himself with the experience, quality, flavors, I really could go on. From the sake, to the rice, to the fish, and last but not least tamago- it was truly an incredible experience. We loved every second of it and Chef Ryo educating us on sushi from how to look for quality, how to pair flavors, and even how to eat it. I'm still in awe of how amazing it was and will certainly be back to do the So Sushi Club again!

Came here on a weekend & boy are they working hard! As usual, the amazing chefs were on point with excellent demeanor, the wait staff was engaging & efficient (even though they're so busy) & of course the quality of the fish is unmatched! I love that my order is always consistent & always delicious! It's always so relaxing to know your dinner will be awesome when you dine here. There was a bit of a wait, but that table full of SOoOooOo delicious sushi was worth the wait. My favorites are the Halibut Truffle & So Happy - it hits EVERY TIME! I also had the Toro tonight for some melt in your mouth goodness. It was definitely close quarters because it was so busy, but I will sit in a train station as long as this team is making my sushi! Thank you Ryo, Ishmael & team for making my GNO a delight to enjoy with my gal pal. I'll be back SooOooOoOoo soon!

The food is perfect, it melts in your mouth. The lunch specials are really good, and it's fresh. The staff are so nice, they smile and laugh. The service is so fast.The interior is very beautiful and clean. There are beautiful decorations everywhere. 10 out of 10, I totally recommend coming here. I know I'm coming back again.

I highly recommend the Omakase experience. They serve very special fish in their private back room, approx. 14 dishes are provided. I also tried real ginger and wasabi for the first time and it was fabulous. What makes this Omakase different from others is the interaction with the chef. They tell you about the history of Omakase, teach you about the Omakase experience, and tell you interesting stories. I highly encourage you to ask questions and follow their advise on their drink selections, it will elevate your experience. The ambiance is very intimate and welcoming. The general service was also amazing. The experience is approx $150, tip is 20% which already included in the total. I would definitely come back for this experience any day.

This place is top-rated in the area so I gave it a try. The reviews don't lie, this place is terrific! Was busy on a Friday early evening, got on the waiting list and were seated at the sushi bar about 20 minutes later. Our charming waitress had hot sake and beer delivered right away. The friendly chef behind the bar prepared our dishes quickly (flying fish, octopus, albacore and rolls 9 & 10). Everything was very fresh and delicious. Highly recommended!

I came during lunch and sat at the bar. I ask Chef Taka if they offer omakase during lunch hour. The chef replied yes and asked me if I wanted 10,12, or 15 pcs. I opted to do the 10pcs as the first time trying So Sushi to see how it is. Man, I was surprised. So Sushi omakase was solid. Each nigiri was well prepared, and no shoyu was needed. Fish to rice ratio was more than your average nigiri. These nigiri were huge, and the fish were fresh. The shari ( sushi rice) was a bit on the mushy side, but that was fine. Here are some of the highlights: Kinmedai Blue Fin Toro Toro Saba Amaebi Overall, I enjoyed my omakase here, and the price is very, very reasonable for the quality and portions. Service was fantastic by Chef Taka. Until my next visit.

Another local spot that is to die for if you love sushi. The rolls and sashimi is everything. The service is great and wait time is never long. Make sure you're ok with loud conversation cause it gets busy on the weekends.

I'm an omakase person and well the sushi here is pretty good but my only issue is the cut of the fish! Traditionally in sushi the rice is the star but some places here in LA they like bigger cuts of fish like my other spot sushi iki which has even bigger cuts of fish to rice ratio! The service here is amazing, for how busy it got on a Wednesday the servers here were very attentive! Overall great experience I will return thank you

This is a take out order review. My first meal after delivering our baby. It HAD to be sushi and I'm so glad we ordered from here nearby the Tarzana hospital to retain freshness. Food was beautifully presented after husband placed a phone to go order. Parking was easy given it's on Ventura Blvd. Food was delicious and so worth it as a mother's first meal. Fresh fish with combinations well put together. Be warned the spicy rolls ARE spicy it's not just wasabi level heat.

If you want to experience a unique Omakase- you have to try So Sushi Club! It's not just about food (which is exceptional) but also about getting to know the Japanese culture and cuisine and much more from the best Japanese sushi chef Ryo! We loved everything about it. 2 hours of unforgettable experience. Thank you Ryo!!!

So happy I discovered So Sushi! A friend had recommended So Sushi, so I had been meaning to try it. I couldn't ever picture where it was, because it's tucked inside the little strip mall where Zankou chicken is. From the outside I honestly wasn't expecting much. We went on a weeknight, and as soon as we opened the door to the restaurant it was packed! We were given the choice to either wait for a seat inside, or sit outside. We decided to sit outside, where they had several tables. The waitstaff was very attentive and gave us ginger, wasabi and chopsticks right away. I thought it was so cool that the chopsticks had a QR code to the menu on them. Clever! We ordered the garlic shishito peppers, two handrolls, a SOlantro roll and a SO Just Eat roll. Garlic shishito peppers were great! A little on the oily side, but the flavor was so delicious. I loved the fresh cilantro on the roll, which gave it such a refreshing quality and the nice kick of the sriracha on the SO just eat roll. Everything was fantastic. To begin with, the selection of unique specialty rolls was exciting to me. Of course they have the classics, but I loved how different their rolls were AND they were topped with decently sized slices of fish! It wasn't rice heavy at all. I really felt like I was getting my money's worth. I really look forward to coming back and trying more of their food!

Omakase was really nice! Just enough food to satisfy my sushi craving. I could have eaten more but that would have been uncomfortable. My favorite was the snapper and Kanpachi, the first set. But everything was superb. Would do it again.

Saw this restaurant on TikTok, drove to Tarzana to test it out. It was so worth it! Portions are a little bigger than most sushi restaurants, fish was fresh and delicious, attentive staff, definitely somewhere to eat if you're in the area. Albacore melts in your mouth! The restaurant was pretty spacious for a sushi restaurant.

Pretty good, not bad! Had higher expectations since it was so highly rated and it's definitely pricier than other sushi spots along Ventura but we left full and happy. Service was for us was great, but I noticed other tables were getting frustrated that food hadn't come out and it was taking a while. Another table got charged for a few things that didn't come out. We actually ended up getting someone's roll on accident and being charged for it, but the server caught it before she ran my partner's card. Salmon nigiri was a highlight along with the crunch roll. Despite being happy I don't think I'd leave our regular sushi spot to come here.

Use to be very small place they just moved to bigger place. Tasty, fresh and clean Service was okay . We checked in without reservation at 5:30 , almost 70% of the tables was empty they make us to wait for 10 minutes.(group of 4 ppl )

I just checked this place in Tarzana. Quick pick up order of crunchy roll, and avocado and cucumber roll. Inside is quite small so, reservations for a table is a must otherwise must seat at the counter. There were enough servers walking around. Portions are fair and tasty.

The fish is fresh, but very pricey. There's nothing special about it to warrant a higher price than other sushi restaurants. The service was good, I can't complain about that. I did not like the ambiance. They advertise the dining experience as being unique and high-end. Their website says the dress code is "business casual" and a reservation is usually required to eat here. I show up and everyone is wearing shorts, sneakers, and t-shirts. It's not that I don't eat at casual restaurants, I do all the time. It would be totally fine if So Sushi was advertised as being casual, but there's a major disconnect between what their website advertises, the prices they charge, and the reality. This place is very overrated in my opinion. I thought I would splurge on a birthday dinner, and would be getting something more special or unique in return. I was disappointed. There are other sushi spots in the area that have equally fresh fish, with more variety, and a cozier ambiance. Nothing was exceptionally tasty, just mid. The best dish was their salmon nigiri.

I really want to say I had the best interaction but I can't. Got take out the edamame was BAD unable to eat it at all Tried calling the restaurant no answer (called at least 5 times) Been wanting to try So Sushi for some time. Not impressed.

GEREAT SERVICE!!! Amazing food. The only downside is apparently people in the parking lot don't know how to park but that has nothing to do with the restaurant! Came right after it opened on a Friday night. Served instantly. You sit by the bar (or table) and order directly with the chef if you're seated at the bar which was fun! Small restaurant but service was fast so we didn't feel rushed. Love it!

So Sushi has moved to a bigger space. It has a whole new look and a lot more staff. What has not changed is the excellent food. I have been coming here for six years. I love the sushi. The rolls are exceptional. The flavors explode in your mouth. My favorite roll this time was the SO smart roll. Filled with baked sea bass and topped with eel and avocado. It was SO good. The service is timely. We just had an overall great meal. Parking is easy and nearby. Reservations recommended. There are lots of regulars and with good reason.

I went to So Sushi tonight for the first time and was really blown away! I feel like the quality of food was incredible. It seems like they just moved locations and I love the decor and vibe of the space. Their service was also on point! They had plenty of wait staff checking on us and refilling drinks, but they also didn't ask you how everything was every 5 minutes. The perfect balance of attentive and letting us enjoy the meal. I would highly recommend! The west valley has needed a sushi spot that feels modern for a long time, and this is the answer. I can't wait to go again and try more of their menu!

Very small restaurant! Very lowkey and pretty basic decor, which is great for me. Never judge the book by its cover is definitely true! The food is very good! I was pleased with my salmon teriyaki and baked crab cut rolls. The miso soup and salad was good. They give you a big portion of salad as well. The food was so yummy and they had some really good nigiri salmon. Our server was really nice and easy going. Very attentive and made sure we was satisfied! Overall, I will definitely come back, the place is very small the reason why I gave 4 stars and a little bit more updated would be sufficient but that does not beat the quality of food here :) It gets really busy but they do have outdoor seating to accommodate.

This place is awesome!! One of the best sushi bars I've ever tasted. The scallop dinamite with Shitake is delicious!! Non- alcoholic Asahi! The Masago is so good! Ryu is a culinary expert!!
