The 13 Best Restaurants in Fairbanks, Alaska | Eater

"Fairbanks’ only Moldovan restaurant, Soba is a cute, quiet place run by a Moldovan couple who immigrated to Alaska nearly 15 years ago. The staff is friendly, the portions are generous, and the chefs are not afraid to pair their traditional Moldovan offerings with a pile of golden french fries when it’s what the dish calls for. Meat, polenta, wine, and spiced vegetables feature prominently on the menu. The mici plate with grilled lamb sausage comes highly recommended, as does the tocană cu mămăligă." - Kris Farmen

Stopped here for a quick lunch on Sunday, great service and delicious food! My first time trying Moldovan cuisine. We got the jasmine tea, borscht, and split pea soup to start. We got the pork chop and pan fried salmon with polenta for our entrees - it was served with a platter of garlic dip, sour cream, and feta cheese. Great presentation and a cozy ambiance, highly recommend!

I stopped into Soba Restaurant recently and really enjoyed it. The place has such a quaint, cozy charm—it feels warm and welcoming the moment you walk in. I only tried the meatball soup, but it was excellent—comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. Sometimes simple dishes done well say it all. I’m already planning to go back and try a few more things on the menu.

I can totally understand why this is one of the top rated restaurants in Fairbanks. So tasty! Great service. Love the sangria. The pastry appetizer and the Zrazy are must tries, but my #1 fav thing I tried were the cherry crepes. Soo good!

We visited this restaurant in the heart of Fairbanks and really enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming, with plenty of seating and a calm, non-chaotic vibe. The food was of good quality, prices were reasonable, and the whole place felt very clean. A great spot for a relaxed meal.

Very good food and excellent service staff. Somewhat pricey. Recommended for a genuine cultural experience. Visit the store next door for some more regional snacks.

The food worths the price, it's a different cuisine with different spices and ingredients. I highly recommend trying, the service is fast and the personel are nice. Also they play my favorite Balkan music it simple gives the touch to the atmosphere.

I haven't had much Moldovan food before, so I can't really compare it to others within the cuisine. Overall, I would describe the food as hearty. Some dishes could use a little more flavor or salt, but I really enjoyed the Sarmale. We're writing this review primarily because our table was incredibly happy with Jacqueline's wait service. We wish her all the best!

True Eastern European flavors in the middle of Alaska! We went twice in a row, had pierogies and pelmeni, barszcz and chicken soup and the cheese pancakes for dessert with honey. The service is in Eastern European style as well, which made us laugh in contrast with American style of servicing customers - but don’t get offended, it’s just part of the culture!
