WHEN I TELL YOU…. I had an AMAZING experience here. I am not exaggerating. lol The food was phenomenal! The service was great and the ambiance too! I have been thinking about this experience for 4 days straight and cannot wait to be back. The cornbread—a MUST. the F Que wings—delicious! The fish and grits. Sooooo good! And the chicken and red velvet waffle was delicious! Definitely recommend every dish I tried.

My first time here. I had dinner with a friend and the food is great. Atmosphere is wonderful and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Normally I don't pay attention to music but they even had live music. I would definitely come back here. The cornbread tasted like a cupcake. 😋

I have been going here for years it haven't been since covid, we ordered the Catfish app which was so delicious, practically melted in my mouth after a very satisfying crunch. Next week got the red velvet chicken and waffles (which at one point this dish was what they were known for) well after pouring a very thick cold syrup over my chicken and waffle, (some would argue with me, but I don't care I love syrup on my chicken when in eating those dishes, which is much favorite go too) I first cut into the waffle and it seems good but when I put it in my mouth I was not happy, it was very dense and chewy, and then I asked my daughter so you think they changed the recipe, well for starters it was nown2 square waffle as opposed to the round Belgium waffle I was used too. So when the lovely young lady came to ask about our experience so far, I hesitated but then explained the situation to her, she asked if I wanted another set, I declined, a few moments later when came out with a waffle that was better but still not good enough. I tried to eat it but just couldn't, but on the other hand the chicken was superb, well seasoned just enough crunch for the meal and the portion was great as I didn't even eat the waffles. The drinks were very refreshing too. We had flavored lemonade that tasted like they took the fruit and muddled it eight into the glass, very delicious. I joked with my dining buddy, this was our punishment for going to get chicken and waffles after our gym workout. 😆 p.s we had the place all too our selves 💜

Weekend brunch opens at 12pm strictly. When the shades are pulled up the place is open. Nice space. We were seated at a big table since there were 5 of us. The staff were nice and the music was great. The place filled up quickly and got very loud which was fine. Food was pretty good. The mimosa carafe was $48 but tasted pretty good. Portion size was on the smaller side compared to other restaurants. Red velvet pancakes were not bad. The fish and grits were really good. The fried chicken was really good.

The music was loud which made it hard to hear the waitress. I felt like I was yelling. The Mac and cheese was in the oven too long so the top was a bit crunchy. The red velvet waffles seemed smaller/thinner. I was expecting it to be thicker. The fried rice tasted regular. Maybe soy sauce would have helped. Drinks/cocktails seem smaller too. One of the faucets wasn't working in the wash area. The violinist was the highlight of the evening.

Great experience. Had to warm up and relax my thoughts. However, with a restaurant of approximately 14 people, I did not understand the question about reservations and it was only 2 of us. Then the server (Brianna) needed to introduce herself, but I understood. It was a slow night, she was the main (only) server. Thankfully the Manager (host) assisted her. The appetizer came out with the entré because the order was placed as a course and not what we initially called it (appetizer). No harm no foul. The service improved greatly. The food was great. We ordered the Salmon and pecan-encrusted pork chops. We both cleaned our plates.

The wings were good. The drums couldve been cooked a little longer for a crispier finish. The flavor of the steak was amazing. I ordered it medium well and it was so chewy and had so much fat pieces like beef jerky. Never had this problem at any other restaurant. The mashed potatoes were good. The pasta dish was mid. But what pissed me off the most were the small drinks. I was upset the minute i seen them. Small cup with a bunch of ice. But i thought maybe its one of those strong drinks that get you straight to the point. NOPE. Tasted like juice and didnt even give a buzz.

I came in hungry and I am so glad I did, the pasta was great the drinks are strong and the cornbread is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The music is always R&B and soul

Visiting from Chicago, my friends and I were impressed overall. I was referred here for the food and the vibe. We weren't disappointed. I did expect a larger crowd for Sunday brunch, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. We all plan on returning when we're in town again. Items ordered: Fish and grits - delicious. Lobster, shrimp and grits- shrimp and grits were delicious, lobster was slightly overcooked Macaroni and cheese - garlicky and delicious Strawberry French Toast - Amazing!!

Walked in here randomly with a group of friends on a Sunday evening and was seated quickly and it was not packed at all. They had a nice old school r&b/hip hop vibe going that we was singing along to. As we sat down within five minutes we had our waitress take our order and was patient with us since we were very indecisive. **Just to note on Sundays they only have an all day brunch menu** For appetizers we got wings (buffalo & bbq) and clams. And for the main course we had the jambalaya, corn bread, burger with fries, chicken and waffles, grits and the pecan crusted pork chop. I can't say it was the best food I've ever tasted but Overall everyone's food was enjoyable, no one had any major complaints and it didn't take long to come out and the space was clean. I was a little disappointed that it was only a brunch menu but I would come back to try items from the dinner menu.

Soco, the soul food haven that left me questioning if my taste buds took a day off. Arriving on a Saturday afternoon, the host's inquiry about a reservation made me feel like I stumbled into a Michelin-starred secret club. Little did I know, the real secret was that the restaurant was practically empty. After a peculiar wait, we were finally seated, surrounded by an abundance of vacant chairs. It was as if Soco was auditioning for a role in a bustling Broadway production, but reality painted a different scene. Now, onto the main act--the food. The Brunch Pecan-Crusted Pork Chop, priced at a hefty $26.00, danced onto the stage with all the flair of a one-hit wonder. The single-cut spectacle, accompanied by a red wine reduction, citrus mashed sweet potatoes, and braised collards, left much to be desired. The overpriced dish felt more like a financial tragedy than a culinary triumph. In a culinary performance where laziness took center stage, the food was subpar, as if the chef had an off day and decided to wing it. It's ironic when a restaurant tries to appear busier than it is, especially when the kitchen seems to have clocked out early. Soco, you may want to reconsider your strategy--creating the illusion of popularity won't fix the lackluster performance on the plate. As for me, I'll be taking my taste buds elsewhere for an encore-worthy experience.

I came here for a birthday dinner. The space is large and they have an outdoor area as well. The day we came in they had live music playing as well - this gets a little loud so it's better to sit outdoors. The tables are fairly large and you don't feel too cramped. We ordered the sidecar and the margaritas as well as the sangria. I recommend the first it was delicious. They do an all day brunch on Sunday so you can have brunch options for dinner as well. We loved the Mac and cheese and the pork chops. I would say the cornbread was pretty good too and the gumbo was spot on. They don't have pork andouille which does change the taste of the meal but was good overall. The wait staff was very accommodating and courteous but instead of making recommendations they just described the dishes allowing you to make the choice you would like. They also put candles into the dessert for us - which was a strawberry shortcake with ice cream and was delicious. I would come back here for certain items but not all of them.

I visited Soco with my mom at the last hour of brunch on a Saturday and had a fantastic experience. The host greeted me so warmly that my mom swore we knew each other! It was actually hilarious. It was the 4th restaurant mom and I visited that afternoon but we had been turned away the previous 3 times because the kitchens were transitioning to dinner (4pm). Luckily for us, Soco wouldn't be doing that change over until 4:30 so we just made it (4:20-yaaaaay)! The ambiance was very cozy and all the waiters were hardworking and attentive! We started with jalapeño cornbread and home fries (I tore it all up, so delicious). My mom has their lemonade, which she thoroughly enjoyed. For entrees, my mom had the blackened salmon with sweet mashed potatoes and steamed veggies while I had the fish and grits. Everything came out so hot and fresh! It smelled so heavenly that I became impatient and burnt my tongue as I bit off a piece of my catfish. It was well worth the burn because the fish was cooked to perfection! I hadn't been to Soco in over 5 years and boy, I'm glad I gave it another shot. My first experience wasn't the greatest. Back then, when I first had their Mac and cheese, it was soup-like and a MAJOR turn off. On this trip, a table next to mine had ordered the Mac & cheese, which looked way more cooked and like the baked consistency I much prefer! The waiter was outstanding (I think his name was Asher). Thanks for having my mom and I, Soco! We'll be back soon!

Good food and even better service. Some of the dishes lacked a little kick in my opinion, but overall the the food was good. Definitely try the wings, Mac and cheese, BBQ chicken, and Chicken and waffles. Very lively on the weekends, fun place to be at.

I must say that I was extremely disappointed with this establishment. From there being minimal staff on a Saturday to the dirty utensils and cups and then to top off the whole situation, they tried to get more money out of us what they split the check for us. I believe they thought we wouldn't catch on to what they were doing but this was also previously mentioned on another review. The drinks were not good especially the pitcher that cost relatively $50. I could have made this food at home, very underwhelming.

Their service was great and the food meet my expectations. I went on an empty Tuesday afternoon and enjoyed myself.

So came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We were a large party of 10 and were seated quickly at what appeared to be the only large table. I could be wrong because I didn't go exploring the whole restaurant. It was right in the front of the house at the entryway. It was extremely warm and we had to ask for the air to be put on and we're advised it has to be a certain temperature to turn it on. Once they did turn it on it for more comfortable. It was extremely loud and hard to speak over the music. We were one members short of our party and they would not even give us menus until everyone arrived. We all put our orders in and the appetizers came out fairly quickly but the main course took over 49 minutes to come out. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the F-que wings which were good overall. everyone's positions especially the max and cheese were nice portion sizes. At the end because they would only split the check 3 ways so I was about to pay 30 bucks for 15dollar wings no drinks and having to wait basically 2 hours for food. After speaking to two managers they separated the check for me which means they could split more then 3 ways but are just unwilling to do so. I'm not running back here anytime soon but the food was good also give it a try just possibly be ready to wait for your food.

Food and atmosphere is The service was amazingggg! The staff wore gloves and kept everything super friendly and professional (can I get a Black excellence)! The music was modern hip-hop/R&B and early 2000s hits. I absolutely loved this spot, my girlfriend and I are going to make it one of our frequent spots in the city. The food was giving soul food, but clean!! I didn't feel gross or greasy after and the portions were decent. I got the blackened salmon, which came with sweet potatoes and green beans. Although it was super delicious I would not get it again. I'd try something new. The corn bread was really good as well. They have regular and jalapeño cornbread. I also got an order of Mac & Cheese which was BOMB!!!! My friend got the ribs which tasted soooo good I'd get something like that next time I go. She also got the pain killer drink which was delicious! Overall, this spot is a must try if in the area. Everyone who came here tonight were on dates and here for a birthday. The price range is around $30 per person. Book a reservation with them :)

It was a quiet Tuesday and a perfect day to dine. I've never been to soco so when I looked at the menu online I was anticipating to devour my options when I got there , however to my disappointment a few things weren't listed on the menu as part of the brunch. Nonetheless, there were alternatives and we got into ordering right away . Started with drinks and water. Didn't like the appetizers available but wasn't mandatory for me so ordered the blackened salmon and cornbread, chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese. The salmon was seasoned perfectly. Beans had a nice crunch and sweet mash potatoes was a perfect balance to the dish. Excellent choice I made. Service was amazing and our server, the only worker visible did an amazing job. Overall, I had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again.

The restaurant was good - not great but the food really stood out. They appeared to be busy for Saturday afternoon brunch but seemed understaffed. We arrived 30 mins earlier than our reservation and sadly our table wasn't ready so we found a spot at the bar. No biggie. It took a bit for the bartender to come and bring us menus - mostly because he was busy making drinks and grabbing checks. The restaurant seemed packed so it was unfortunate he was by himself. The nice hostess even got behind the bar and began making drinks at one point. Once we finally got our drinks and put our order in - the food was a game changer. We ordered the Strawberry Shortcake french toast, wings, and mac & cheese. The mac was the game changer. The food was really good and made up for the staffing challenges. The playlist was great also! Vibes for sure. Will be back for sure!

Our first night in Brooklyn and we came across Soco on Yelp, and we knew had to come try it. The ambiance of the restaurant is a darker, more laid-back vibe that I liked. There was an excellent saxophonist who played along to the songs on the speaker all night, again making for a great experience. We were quickly greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who brought us to our table. So much of the menu looked amazing, and we definitely wanted to try some different things. I got the Buttermilk Fried Chicken over the red velvet waffle, which was very good! The chicken was extremely crispy and seasoned to perfection. The waffle was very fluffy and had just the right amount of subtle sweetness. Together, the two made for a delicious savory-sweet pair. The Creole Gumbo was well-balanced with flavors and textures. Had just the right amount of spice, and we particularly liked the okra. And lastly, Aunt Cruz's Mac and cheese had to have been our favorite. The Mac and cheese is exploding over the top of the cast iron skillet it's baked in. On top, you get a crispy and crunchy exterior shell. Beneath that is a creamy and gooey mix of rich cheese and macaroni. It was absolutely excellent! I certainly recommend stopping by Soco for some amazing soul food!

*I am typing this review in real time* I had a reservation for 3 at 1:45. The hostess seated us at 1:56 because we were waiting for the third person. Which I completely understand the entire party needing to be there before being seated. Currently it is 2:47pm & we don't have our drinks or appetizers. I had to flag the hostess down to tell her we still don't have our drinks. She apologized & went to get them. We ordered one mimosa carafe for the table & it took over an HOUR to come out. We have been sitting for an hour with just a glass of water. The establishment is also not crowded. A lot of open tables throughout so, the slow service is a bit off putting. At least get people their drinks while they wait. Appetizer ( one order of mussels) finally came out wit the drinks & the appetizer is cold. There is also no silverware or plates... I had to ask for them. The silverware finally came out & it wasn't even wrapped, just handed it to us. I was so excited to come back however I am afraid the service & has gone downhill. The price point for poor service & lack of urgency to rectify the situation & make sure we are okay is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. The food alone is good but again not worth the price point. It's 3:40 & I'm looking for the waitress to just pay.

Shrimp and lobster was very stuff and only gave 3 shrimp, the burger wasn't to bad but with a baked potato? Come on now yal don't sell fries ? Mussels were okay .. a lot of the mussel part fell out Food took an hour to come out and it was not crowded. Drinks were not strong, I won't return.. the staff were very nice tho, maybe they need to work elsewhere or help it more. Ambiance was not welcoming the place was so plain inside no decor or anything

The place is nice atmosphere and the music is good too. The food was hot and fresh. I thought the prices were a bit expensive but it's also nyc. The food was flavorful. I came on a Friday night. Wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. I think I would try it out for brunch.

The service is unacceptable. However, Sandy is AMAZING. But let's get into the details . The wait was disgusting and the table placement was terrible. I waited 25 minutes for an old fashion; that was made TERRIBLY-- I sent it back. I had to leverage my wait time and watch at least 8 tables receive drinks (some patrons, who came AFTER me), to be placed at a better table. Sandy, informed me she spoke with the manager about my wait time for my initial beverage-- Sis was applying pressure b/c she knew it was completely unacceptable that I waiting so long. When I spoke to the manager, she pretended not to know about my wait time -- that was interesting. My food: I ordered the F-Que wings -- The people refusedddddd to allow me to trade tziki sauce for chipotle mayo .. why?? That's ridiculous && I offered to pay an additional cost. Sandy's service Top quality...... A1 ... great service hands down ... Ms. Sandy checked in, continued to keep us updated on drinks/meals, provided the right amount of laughter and relatability-- her presence and awesome customer service was the ONLY thing keeping me in the establishment this evening. Thanks, Sandy! SOCO gotta do better ... #stepitup

The vibe has definitely changed since I dined here 9 years ago. The place was dimly lit (which gave it more a bar look rather than a restaurant). It was surprisingly on the empty side for a Saturday afternoon. I didn't need to make a reservation. Also the chicken and waffle was on the small side for a $26 plate. The waffle was not waffling and the chicken was just okay (could have been more flavorful). Also service was slow for the place to be empty. It was only one server to the six people dining there. The wait time food and drinks were way too long. I've been to Soco several times in the early 2000s and the food, quality,and service was amazing. I don't know what happened this time. Perhaps it was an off day. Just wasn't feeling it.

When you walk in to the place it has more of a bar vibe but don't let that dissuade you. This place is about the food and the food is delicious. The catfish bites are tender and crispy served with an insane sauce that carried so much flavor. The Cajun pasta has the right amount of heat and tons of toppings. The mac and cheese has a flavor I can't pinpoint but makes the whole dish. It's fantastic. Then there's the wings. They glisten. They are the best wings my husband has ever had. He is a wing guy. He is already checking his schedule to come back. The service is friendly and prompt. Water is kept flowing and they check up to make sure you are enjoying your food. Couldn't ask for more.

Soco is neighborhood favorite of mine ! My friend and I decided to stop in Saturday afternoon and we sat at the bar. We had Bellinis and some cocktails then we decided to have brunch which was was amazing. The red velvet chicken and waffles were SO good The Mac and cheese came in this cute mini cast iron pan and we devoured it My friend had the strawberry infused French toast and she said it was the best that she's had in a long time. Love the vibe in here and the service was quick ! When you walk in there's a beautiful mural , throwback RnB playing and a dim light aura that just sets the mood.

Service is unacceptable. . Food is overpriced and just not appealing. We were one of three groups at tables, bar empty, bathrooms dirty, lemonade $9 in kids cup, no straws available for over a week we were told. Manager Sierra has zero customer service qualities, actually very rude and unprofessional. Place was dark and dusty and the food taste like the chef gave up and doesn't enjoy cooking anymore. Beyond disappointmented.

The food was all seasoned well and tasted great. The F-Que wings & mac n cheese are always on point. The drinks were also good, good taste n good amount of liquor. The vibe was great; music wasn't too loud. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in and it stayed that way the entire time.

Service was great. Drinks were good. But the food was bad (ex. The okra was undercooked and unchewable). The works part is . . . Wait for it They charged a $5 up charge per drink for Ketel One and Makers Mark and a $3+ credit card fee. I've not experienced such things at other places in Clinton Hill. I left feeling bamboozled, hoodwinked, swindled. There are better places on the neighborhood, try someplace else besides this. I won't be going back.

Step in the door and greeted ( packed house) Within 2 minutes. Warm genuine smiles by the host who's also the host Manager Mauricia Suggest the Salmon Cakes appetizers. Live Band next door. Violin, trumpet, or Sax depending on the day or time you arrive. Five Stars * * * * *

Management here had the most ridiculous rule, our last joining party member could not order or eat with us because his tab needed to be calculated separately as he was 20mins late to arrive to our table. Instead of the manager offering to open a tab at the empty adjoining table she insisted that she did not want to see him drink or eat at our table. Because we were there to celebrate a birthday and because she was extremely rude we ignored her and shared our drinks and food with him and spent over $500. The most unfortunate part is the poor chef who has a shity front house representation of what amazing food they excite in the kitchen..... food was absolutely amazing !! I'll go back if the manager that was there is gone. Drinks were also good.

The catfish bites were good. The waitress was really nice & patient with explaining things which I appreciated. I would have to come back & try another dish before I could recommend.

You can never go wrong with the food from Soco. A staple of the downtown Brooklyn scene for years now and they don't disappoint. I had no reservations but I was still seated rather quickly. Ambience remains ok, nothing too splashy. Service was great, the waitstaff was very attentive. Food was great and comforting to my belly.

I want to give this place more stars but the service was lacking and although some parts of our meal were great others weren't. Let's start with us sitting down right away but having to wait 17minutes to be greeted by someone at the table (a table busboy who brought out water) and then having to wait another 10mins for a server to come to the table. This was on a Sunday AFTER the brunch rush was over so they weren't even busy. When we finally got a server we ordered drinks- of course they were out of the sangria I wanted (gone with the brunch rush) but they had red and the server told me she preferred that bc it was much better- I trusted her and got it. Big mistake! The sangria was nasty. She also upsold my bf on a drink telling her with a specific bourbon it was "so much better" and it wasn't. Their drinks were terrible. Moving on to the food we ordered the jalapeño corn bread and the fque wings as appetizers, the wings we amazing, I highly recommend them, but the corn bread was hella dry. There wasn't enough butter in the world to make it better. Avoid that! For our entrees my bf got the chicken and waffles and this was so good and also so bad at the same time: the red velvet waffle was really great, I haven't had such an amazing waffle in a long time BUT the chicken wasn't properly fried and was underdone inside. A freaking mess! I on the other hand had the sausage and eggs over home fries. The sausage was amazing- the eggs were okay and the home fries were under seasoned and boring. The ambiance was also not the biggest deal as the rush was gone but it was still quite loud in the restaurant and kinda gloom/dark. Would I come back? Yes- I think they have potential. They just need to fix their service and tweak some of the meals (definitely avoid the drinks)

why take reservations if you have to wait 1 hour after to get a seat. Once we were seated the waitress came over and explained that the kitchen was backed up. I wish the hostess would've told us that. We started with cocktails and appetizers. How did the apps come out before the drinks! ‍ The salmon cakes were delicious, but the mussels were everything and the garlic sauce had me wanting to make a 2nd order. Half way through the apps the drinks finally came. I ordered a regular margarita and when it arrived the drink was clear. I looked at my waitress and said what's that, she said your drink. When I took a sip it was sweet with a heavy vodka flavor. I flag the waitress down and told her that's not a margarita, so she took it back. Our meals arrived I had the shrimp and grits and it wasn't bad. My friend had the chicken and waffles, it was ok. (Side note: I ordered it for delivery on UberEats one night and paid extra for dark meat only and I got nothing but white meat). So my drink finally came and it looked odd I can't describe it and the taste was off. I've come to the realization that they don't know how to make drinks. My takeaway from this experience is even if you make a reservation be prepared to wait and stick with shots. I'll be back for the mussels though.

My partner and I were looking for a place to eat in the area and realized that we both had this place bookmarked so we decided to give it a try. Since you can't make same day reservations online, we called ahead to ask if there would be a wait (it was ~7pm on a Saturday). The hostess said they were completely booked for the night but if we hurried, she would be able to seat us. 15 mins later, we walked in and sure enough, she got us a table in the back. We took about 10 minutes to order and decided on the: - Cajun creole pasta (3/5): You get a pretty decent amount of pork (or chicken) andouille sausage and shrimp, which was nice to see but other than that, there's nothing special about this pasta. The cream sauce is not spicy and a bit on the bland side. The garlic bread that's served on top of the pasta just tasted like toasted bread. - Jambalaya (4/5): This comes in a mini cast iron that's piping hot so be careful! Takes awhile to cool down but quite tasty once it does. Definitely the better entree of the two. - Mac and cheese (4/5): Got this because FOMO. Not as cheesy as I would have preferred but not bad. You get a huge mound of mac n cheese with a nice crunchy top layer. - Cornbread (5/5): DELICIOUS. Comes with a nice dollop of butter...wish we had more of this, honestly. If you check in with Yelp, you get free cornbread!! So cash it in!! While the food was decent, everything else was...not. After we ordered, we waited nearly an hour (!!!) before our food came out. The place wasn't busy (people were actually on their way out when we came in) and there were many empty tables around us, so we weren't quite sure what was taking so long. Our waitress wasn't attentive - she never checked in on us or thought to give us an explanation for the long wait until we flagged her down (about 40 minutes in). At that point, she said the food would be coming out in "2 minutes". Nearly 20 minutes later, we finally had our food. After we ate, the manager checked in on our section so I thought it would be a good time to let him know about the wait. I notified him that we had waited nearly 1 hour for our food, to which he nodded his head and said "Okay, thank you for letting me know" before walking away. We would have been more understanding if he (or someone) had provided some sort of explanation (and maybe threw in a couple more pieces of cornbread) but we got nothing...it wasn't until afterwards when we read the other reviews that we realized this was not a new issue. Honestly, I was disappointed, which I suppose shouldn't have been so surprising given that this is a Marc Daly establishment. So if you're looking for decent southern food and don't mind long waits and subpar service, this place is for you.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Soco, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. From start to finish, this restaurant left much to be desired. Now, let's talk about the service. It was abysmal. Our bartender seemed disinterested and disengaged from the moment we sat down. My date and I ordered our first round of drinks. The drinks were chased with flat Selzer water, and we sent them back. Our replacement drinks were served in a foul-smelling glass; we immediately reported the smell of the glass to the manager. She offered to replace the drink at this time, but we had enough. We exited the bar and vowed to ourselves never to return. I will never go back to Soho's ever again.

Soco is a cool, chill place to go to brunch. The soco sangria is no joke! Both the chicken and waffles and the wings were-- *chef's kiss* and the service was delightful. If you are someone who is into a "turn up" type of brunch spot, this place isn't for you. However, they do provide the tunes, a mix of classic r&b and such. They are also available for lunch and dinner. Though I have let to try stopping by in the afternoon/evening, I'm sure those menus are just as amazing.

Amazing food. I am already planning my next visit here to get the fried chicken sandwich!! The waitress I had was wonderful and she made our experience so enjoyable but the rest of the staff was not super attentive. When I first walked in the restaurant was almost empty and it still took at least 10 minutes to be seated. It was also not super clean and the lights were really really low, so it was hard to see where you were even walking. The food really came through and made up for any less-than-great service I experienced when I first walked in. The wings that we got for an appetizer were delicious, tender and juicy!!! The chicken sandwich was one of the best I've had honestly, and the shrimp and grits were delicious. The drinks are okay -- this is definitely a place you come to for the food. I've heard they have a great brunch so I'll definitely be returning to try that out.

Went here today.... first outing of the year with my bestie... we were so happy to see each other buttttt it went downhill once we got here to this place.. First off my gf wanted catfish and grits.... the waitress told us.. no catfish....ok. she ordered chicken and waffle.... we both ordered the hibiscus Margherita... it came in a tiny glass that was about 2/3 full.... then I ordered the pecan crusted porkchop... the waitress came back and told me there was no sweet potato (that was included on the plate) offered me regular garlic mashed... at this point we're famished so I agree....but thennnn.... the manager comes out and says NO PORKCHOP!!!! and with this revelation the manager then goes on to try and get me to order something else that I really didn't want ANDDDDD she NEVER offered any compensation... ( like maybe this 2/3 full glass will be on us for your trouble or just to compensate you) THE MANAGER DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.... AT ALL.... SHE NEVER OFFERED ANY COMPENSATION!!! THIS IS Y OWNERS NEED TO COME INSIDE THEIR PLACES OF BUSINESS.... THIS RIGHT HERE FOR THEM AN " IM NEVER COMING BACK HERE AND I WILL GET ON YELP AND LET THE PEOPLE KNOW ANDDDDD I WILL TELL ALL OF MY COWORKERS AT NYPD!!!!

Was in Bklyn for a different event on a Sunday late afternoon and this place was suggested so we made reservations and came by. We arrived earlier than planned with one less person for our reservation. The hostess who greated us wasn't mean or rude, just not the most welcoming. She did let us know there weren't any of our preferred tables available at that time except two tables that seemed like they would be either in the way of traffic back and forth or very much shoved in between other parties. At first we were going to just have drinks at the bar to wait for a table so the hostess gave us drink menus and told us we could sit but the bartender, Raheem, had such a cool vibe we decided to stay there and have dinner. I let the hostess know and she said okay but she never provided us with menus lol. When we evenutally did get menus it said 'All Day Sunday Brunch'. Not sure how different it is from the regular menu for reference. The restaurant is a nice size, not huge but it didn't look like you necessarily would or had to be seated on top of another party and I heard they had a back patio during the days when the weather is nice. The music was definitely a 10. They also had a violinist there who haromized with some of the songs and he was ahhh-mazing!!! You may not be able to hear conversation at some points but this wasn't an all night issue. The drinks were deee-licious! Along with bar service, definitely a 10! We had the Soca Colada which Raheem said was one of his favorites and the Soca Island. I wanted to try the Hibiscus Painkiller but he mistakenly made another soca colada. No big deal, he was willing to make another but I told him don't worry about it. He even went to the manager to ask if he made one due to his error could he charge it at a discounted rate but the manager said no (Go Figure! You'd think the manager would be more concerned about making sure the customers, especially new ones are happy but I guess CS is different for everyone). I told him it was okay, not to worry about it but I really appreciated that he was ready to go the extra mile!! Food was an 7.5. We ordered the F- Que Wings ($15) for an appetizer to share, the Greek Salad ($15), the Strawberry Shortcake French Toast ($19) and Turkey Bacon ($8) for me. I'd order all of those again except the turkey bacon. It came out a bit late and not really hot. I could do without it. My friend ordered the Creole Shrimp Gumbo ($16), the Blackened Salmon ($29)- there was a mix up with my friends food because she asked for the sweet mashed potatoes to be switched out for garlic mashed and they initially brought out the salmon with the sweet mashed and it was corrected quickly but we were still charged for an extra garlic mash ($8), and mac & cheese ($15). She really enjoyed everything but said the mac & cheese was just okay. I tried a little of the mac & cheese and it didn't have much flavor. Safe to say that wouldn't be ordered again either. There wasn't anything we saw on the dessert menu that caught our attention this time around so we passed over on it. As an fyi, for all credit card payers there is a 3% surcharge that is applied to the bill. We'd come back when in the area but we'd have to have the same service/bartender and hopefully dj! Also we'll for sure be mindful of the bill to make sure it's accurate.

Food was bland--/ Mac n cheese no flavor how you mess up Mac n cheese at a southern restaurant? Literally no flavor just straight noodles and cheese. Salmon cakes tasted like they came straight from a can. I could've made better ones at home. Service was slow ... had to ask for water 5x. Then I asked for a the mardis gras with wray n nephew. Completely made me something different.. Thoroughly disappointed a waste of $60 first and last time, the only saving grace was the restaurant 2 doors down SOM - amazing drinks reasonably priced and the food was delicious!!

This was my first time here. Atmosphere and ambiance was lack luster but the food was delicious. The service was great and everyone was extremely professional. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. If you're looking for good food and service this is the place If you're looking for a whole vibe get somewhere else

Happened to be in the neighborhood so we gave this place a try and it was quite good! Menu is interesting enough to come w a big group and get a lil taste of everything. We got: - mussels 8/10: quite good and super creamy but the mussels were on the smaller side so that was a little disappointing. The bread was also excellent and buttery. - fish n grits 9/10: this was so delicious and the fish was crispy and stayed hot pretty much the whole meal. Knocked off a point because i feel like it could have used some sort of veggie as a side - sausage n eggs 7/10: although tasted good, there was nothing interesting about the dish and unless you have an extreme craving for sausages n eggs (but who does??), i wouldn't recommend, given all the other options

Dinner was definitely better. The first time I came to Soco was 4 years ago and I didn't leave a good comment lol. I came with a group of 6 the bill was crazy but the food was delicious, the drink was also good. The service was good the waiter was super nice, her tip was huge over $100 and that was automatically taken out. Soco was cool the vibe was good. Everyone enjoyed their food no complaints.

Came here randomly as we were in the neighborhood and so glad we did! The service was impeccable - water always refilled, food on time and hot. Our waitress was amazing, so attentive and friendly! We got the hush puppies which were very good, the burger, salmon burger, wings, mac & cheese and lobster shrimp and grits. Everyone enjoyed their meal, but the mac and cheese was the highlight! The manager came over as well to check on us too. The music / playlist was A+ and all around good vibes. A little dark, but not bad! Would definitely come back! And they have live music as well which we didn't have the chance to experience but would try next time!

First off whose playlist is this!!!! My favorites for sure. The service was impeccable, Siaira was the greatest. Awesome personality and took great care of us. I ordered the blackened salmon and it was to die for. Since I was still alive I happened to order a drink and it did not disappoint. Came here for Brunch with family. Definitely a lounge atmosphere for brunch with lots music and party atmosphere ( wasn't aware of that prior as was just looking for a nice family brunch but noted for next time when I do want that scene) service was ok. Food was good we ordered the seafood dishes ranging from shrimp etoufee to seafood grits. All enjoyed .

It was first time here and I've been waiting to go for a while now. I wasn't disappointed at all and will definitely come back. I went to celebrate cinco de mayo with my sister. She was happy with her food and drink as well as I. The employees were very attentive and made sure we were happy.

Made a res for a Friday night. My boyfriend and I shared: + Complimentary cornbread with Yelp check-in - amazing + Buttermilk fried chicken with red velvet waffle - waffle was great, though the chicken wasn't totally memorable + Pecan-crusted pork chop - the pork had good flavor but was a little tough. Loved the sides Solid, but I'll stick to my favorite soul spots in Harlem (Amy Ruth's, BLVD Bistro, Melba's, etc).

This Place is truly a gem, the food is superb and the service from ASHLEY was amazing, very welcoming and her know a lot about the menu... ask for Ashley, she makes this place!! 10 across the board... Thank you so much to SOCO and a special thank you to our girl ASHLEY....

I love going to SoCo. Every time I return it's like nostalgic, of real home cooked food very comforting but with class and sophistication for the presentation. It's warming and welcoming coming here. Being greet when you came in was like coming to an old relatives house who you haven't seen in years. We were seated by the very hospitable hostess and then greeted by our waitress sooner after. Their menu you short and sweet with a wide variety for every palate. We ordered apps; deviled eggs and smoked wings. I went with the BQE salmon burger which comes with a baked potato for my order and my partner with the chicken and waffles for his entree. Sealed the deal with a m&c for the table. The apps were gone as soon as they hit the table none other than delectable. The deviled eggs have a new touch with a crispy chicken skin on top and overloaded with mixed yolk filling. My BQE Salmon Burger was delicious! The taste of it was warm and buttery you can tell it was made to order and fresh. Soft and just right for the bun. The seasoning was all there if you wanted you could've ate the patty alone! However, it was made for the sandwich. Together on that bun, lettuce, tomatoes and that Zesty sauce it was phenomenal! I would definitely go for this option on the menu! The baked potato was lined with cheese and given sour cream on the side to light it up! This entree now is my favorite on the menu! I'll be back to try so much more!

So this place has changed so much. The vibe used to be fun and lively. Everything is sort of sad now. They played the same 6 songs 5 times in a row and the service was so slow. The drinks are tiny especially considering the price. The wings were cooked with no seasoning, just tossed in sauce. The brought out burned Mac and cheese so we had to send it back. The red velvet waffle was dry but the fried chicken was delicious. The blackened salmon and citrus sweet potatoes were good. The jambalaya was just okay. If I wasn't nostalgic I would give them 2 stars. I know it's a hard time for everyone right now so I am giving them grace.

At SOCO the food is always great. The service is always great and the bathrooms are very nice. The walls are very nice nicely painted and the desserts are always a great sweet tree. I would recommend coming here. once in a while, the food lack quality but nine times out of 10. The food is great.

I hadnt been in years, due to quality issues. The ambiance is cold. One of the bathrooms is out of service. I used the other single stall and got stuck inside. I had to bang on the door for another patron to alert management. They then came and unlocked the door from the outside, as the lock mechanism is broken. Why that isn't a top priority to fix is very concerning and such a safety hazard. I received a simple "oh sorry". Ordered the chicken and waffles. They chopped a chicken thigh into two and gave me half a wing. The waffle was cold and soggy. Total waste of money, when i told my server the waffle wasn't warm or good; she simply replied "ok". The drinks are very expensive and NOT strong. The ribs were tasty, but the rack is mainly bones. The macaroni and cheese is still on point. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

I hate to give this spot a low rating but I was definitely underwhelmed by my visit. We came here and got the F Que Wings and it was a weirdddd flex. They came recommended to us as something that people order often but these wings are poorly executed. The wing is slathered in this spicy/sweet sauce that literally cemented the wings to the plate. We had to eat the wings with a fork and knife because the sauce was similar to the coating on a candied apple. The drinks were also pretty underwhelming. We got the side car & a caramel martini which didn't come with the roasted marshmallow (we were told no garnishes due to COVID). The bartender and hostess were friendly though so that was a plus. There were a lot of other things on the menu that sounded great so I would come back to give it another chance. The Pecan Crusted Pork Chop sounded great and I'd have to try their Mac and cheese and cornbread as well.
