On the Grid : Soda & Swine

"Soda & Swine is a North Park favorite. They have recently opened a new location at Liberty Station. You get the same great food in a much more expansive and open environment. Enjoy some Bahn Mi sliders and a great selection of drinks without the long line of the original. We were pretty impressed by the Iron Maiden and Metallica themed server shirts." - LESS+MORE

Soda & Swine Opens Dining Oasis on UCSD Campus - Eater San Diego

"The third location of Soda & Swine opens on campus today at the old student center; the much-anticipated project replaces longtime fixture Porter’s Pub and slots in next to the Stage Room. This is the first Soda & Swine to serve breakfast, and its all-day counter-service menu combines its original lineup of meatball sliders with Italian-American dishes. Soda & Swine is one of the few venues on campus to serve alcohol, offering 24 beer taps, wine, and slushies made with White Claw Hard Seltzer. The 14,000-square-foot restaurant was designed in partnership with Paul Basile and BASILE Studio." - Candice Woo

Nice place to chill over some drinks and appetizers. Layout is very cool - a bar, small and large tables, and a patio. They also have the longest foosball table I’ve ever seen. The selection of beer and liquor is impressive. They also have a nice array of old school bottled soda. We ordered several appetizers that were all pretty good. The service was pretty good too. They play a nice eclectic assortment of music that I really enjoyed. Not too loud either. Overall, great place, good Vice, and good beer.

Loved the look and feel of this place. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was around 6, so it was not too busy yet. The service at the ordering counter was fantastic, and that continued when we got to our table. The menu is simple but enough choices to please - meatballs are the specialty. While I found the meatballs good quality but a bit bland, the pizza knots and the apple pie should not be missed! Overall good experience, and cannot say enough good things about the service.

My son and I came here by accident. So happy we did. It was a fun place, every single room had a different theme. It was fun, retro, and all the staff were amazing! The names of the food on the menu will give you a giggle, but the taste of it will make your taste buds and belly happy. If we ever get back there we will definitely go to wat there again. They also have vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options which is wonderful for me! While you wait take a walk around or go play in the arcade.

The food is amazing. Probably the best place in San Diego for food. The staff is outgoing and helpful to your needs. I love how the water is in a glass bottle that you can take to your table. Both bathrooms have a changing table. And has a hilarious message on the mirror. They have a Foosball table that you can eat on. A bar. Get the pizza knots and dirty fries. The meatballs taste amazing.

I really became a fan from the Adams Ave location... We have ventured to this location a few times and i am big fan of the counter to table concept where you order your food at the counter, take a number and find a seat (or grab a craft cocktail or local craft beer from the bar before you sit). On to the important stuff.... The Hen - Chicken meatball slider with mushroom cream and provolone, yeah this. Great flavor, honestly could probably eat 2 of these sliders and be good. The Bovine - Beef meatball slider with marinara and mozzarella - this is great too, however i could have used a little more mozzarella so its stringing when you bite it? Broccolini/w Cheese - This is where I was thinking healthy along with the BACON Belly Brussels! - These are great shareable sides and you get the feeling you are doing yourself a service and eating healthy. Until you order.. Caramel Pecan Pie.... WITH a side of Soft Serve! Going to be honest, it wasn't as good as the last time I had it - its difficult to match it when it was fantastic, however we did finish it - so it tells me it was actually good enough haha. Service is usually great here, everyone is friendly and helpful with questions. We have been lucky to be here when its not packed to the rim. Next time I will tell you about the delicious drinks... Always has plenty of street parking too.

Of the two Soda and Swine locations this is my preferred site and I live close to the Adams Avenue location. Don't get fooled by the name because there are vegetarian and vegan options and a very good local beer selection. Fun design and great place for a party or just meet friends after work.

I came hear on a Thursday afternoon and had an excellent experience. It sounds like they can get busy, but around 2pm on a Thursday there wasn't a line for food. Great outdoor seating, sweet soda selection, and top notch food. Not mentioning the 30 ft foosball table, it looked sweet if you're into that kind of thing, the place has an awesome sort of rustic hipster design with outdoor seating that overlooks the nearby park. I tried the Bovine (beef meatball with mozzarella and marinara) and a special they had: chipotle bbq pork meatball with a slaw. Both came on the freshly baked bread you can watch them make inside. I also got the Smashy potatoes (with goat cheese and chives) which came with these lightly tempura fried jalapeno, though i don't think it usually does. Either way i am glad it did as it made for an excellent combination. The slider-like sandwiches were perfect. A good sandwich must have good bread, and Soda and Swine has mastered the baking of the perfect meatball sandwich bread. Loved my experience here.

Super cute place, love the decor and the longest foosball table ever. Looks like it's mainly used as a dining table but still cool. Long line to order. Order first then find a seat. There was one cashier and the line was out the door. I felt rushed when I had to order because I didn't have a chance to review the menu standing outside and once you got the front you wanted to order quick because of the long line. Happy hour is good for drinks. $5 drink or $20 pitcher (that came in a shape of a tomato), we got dirty fries, fried pizza knots and vaca buracha sliders. The dirty fries were good, the sliders were small, and the pizza knots were a hit or miss. Some of them were empty and some had cheese. Overall, ambiance is nice. There were lots of goodies on the menu but just stuck to the happy hour this time.
