My interaction with the hotel began long before the trip itself. The wonderful reservation specialist, Leona Cahill, helped me handle all of my unusual requests related to preparing the accommodation documents required for my visa. I would also like to express my deep gratitude to the concierge team. Unfortunately, I didn’t record the names of all the staff, but I do remember Jeff, as we stayed in touch via WhatsApp :) The team was incredibly helpful with receiving parcels for me and navigating the complex parking system. Next, I’d like to thank the Housekeeping department. The room was always absolutely spotless, and the staff left little complimentary touches that made my stay even more pleasant. Most importantly – not a single speck of dust or stray hair in sight. Impeccable! And finally, my sincere thanks to the amazing Front Office team. I regret not noting down names, but every single person – from the Bell Boys to the General Manager – was truly professional. They anticipated my needs before I even had to think about them. A heartfelt thank you to everyone – I’m still under the spell of this unforgettable experience and already looking forward to returning in September! With love from Saint Petersburg, S. Aleksei

The hotel is first class. The location is unbeatable. They asked if we were visiting for a special occasion. We explained that it was for our daughter’s graduation. They had a dessert waiting for her in the room with a hand written congratulations card!! Way above and beyond. A real “proper” experience.

Sofitel London St James is centrally located in Piccadilly Circus. It is convenient to get to everywhere. The tube station is very close, providing access to the Piccadilly line as well as Bakerloo lines. Technically you can go from Heathrow to the hotel almost painlessly on Piccadilly line (if u avoid the working traffic)The building is a classic, the design is modern and very well maintained. It feels very new and well kept. The room I was in was spacious, and can accommodate an extra bed if needed. Air conditioning is sufficient. The gym is very small though. Something to note. And it doesn't have a swimming pool. Breakfast is nice but not value for the buck. The staff are super courteous. They try everything to make your trip a lot more hassle free. I checked in early and checked out late, and traveling with family. So long as they can help, they will.Highly recommend this place. Will stay again next time.

From start to finish, this hotel exceeded all expectations. The customer service is truly impeccable—from the doorman to the front desk to the restaurant staff, every interaction was warm, professional, and memorable. My 10-year-old son was so impressed that he asked to personally say goodbye to the tall breakfast manager, who made a lasting impact on him. That says everything. The location is beautiful and convenient, with easy access to public transportation. The rooms are modern, clean, and very impressive—a true reflection of the overall quality. One of the things I appreciated most was that staff never made tipping feel expected, yet their service was so genuine and excellent that it made us want to tip them generously. The food was delicious, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend for families or anyone looking for a quality experience with top-notch hospitality!

We had an excellent (albeit brief) one night stay and the staff were very attentive as usual. As I was in a business meeting all day I left our case at reception and explained that my wife would be arriving later so it would be great if the keys were available to her when our room was ready. We got a text later on in the day stating our room was ready and my wife arrived at reception to pick up the keys. When she mentioned her name, the keys were all ready and our luggage was already in our room. Many thanks, this was extremely helpful. We are both looking forward to our next stay in 3 weeks.

Google
Sofitel St James are a very good high quality 5 star hotel in a super location. Service level are top all over the building. Different bar & restaurant areas looked amazing. The room was large, well maintained & super cool style. Minibar with ok selection. Only reason i give 4 stars are the room service food. We arrived 3 persons after a concert & wanted to order some food from their late night menu. That was not possibel. The food was premade & they only reheat it. They had 1 of each dish available. Thats just embarrassing in a large 5 star luxury hotel. Drop it or fix a selection of food that can be kept. Like wraps, sandwiches & more. We ended up ordering from uber eats, but all was asleep when the food finally arrived.

Everything about our stay at Sofitel St. James was perfect. The building is elegant, both of the rooms we had were chic and very comfortable, and the location is arguably the best in London. One night, we had an excellent dinner at Wild Honey Bistro, and our daily breakfasts were also very good. The St. James Bar is a real gem, staffed with knowledgeable, talented and friendly bar professionals. We’re not going to forget those Bee’s Knees cocktails! Most importantly, not only the bar team, but every staff member we encountered was gracious, warm and very efficient. At the end of our initial five-night stay, we decided to add one final night following a brief trip to Ireland. Although the hotel was almost full, the reservation desk was able to find a room for us. When we returned a few days later, we received the warmest of welcomes and discovered that we had been upgraded to a suite. We really hope that we’ll be able to visit London, and stay at the Sofitel St. James, soon again. Merci mille fois, Sofitel St. James!

For Christmas I got the voucher for Spa & afternoon tea at Sofitel. I managed to redeem it recently and had very nice experience. The massage was very pleasant and professional. I like the scent they used. After the massage I attended the afternoon tea in one of their restaurants and it was also very good experience. I enjoyed sandwiches and cakes, they were delicious. They had good selection of teas and I liked the cherry blossom tea very much. The staff at Spa and afternoon tea were very friendly and attentive. The location obviously is perfect, very central, close to all main tourist attractions.

Yelp
Our family stayed at Sofitel St James, during my birthday trip thru Europe. The hotel accommodations were gorgeous, and meticulously maintained. The staff went above our expectations to make us feel welcomed, special note of all the breakfast staff at Wild honey, especially Luis and a few others, they were wonderful!. Car arrangements were smooth especially w Pete helping us. I strongly recommend the Sofitel St James just an incredible experience ! This was our third stop on our trip and by far the best !!!

Yelp
If I could give more than five stars I definitely would. We stayed here for our 10 year anniversary and what a pleasant surprise, our room was decorated with rose petals and a delicious dessert. The breakfast buffet was great, the almond croissant is to die for, beats the croissants I've had in Paris. The hospitality the staff showed was beyond measure. Would definitely stay here again next time we visit London.

Yelp
The Sofitel London St. James sets the standard of hospitality at its price point. The room was extremely comfortable and well decorated. The staff could not be more attentive and welcoming. The available amenities far surpass 'sufficient' to the point of superlative. I cannot thank the Sofitel enough for providing the ideal home-base for our London vacation.

Yelp
This is a hotel close to my London office and I've stayed here numerous times over the years. Whilst not as celebrated as the Dorchester or the Mandarin Oriental, its level of services and amenities definitely rivals that of those other 5 star establishments. Most of the staff from the front desk to the restaurant and bar are either French or French speaking. The rooms are relatively roomy by London's standard. The hotel has also modernized its accommodations over the past few years. WiFi access is ample around the premises and the rooms are equipped with hot water pots and espresso machines. A power converter can also be found in the desk draw for those who came from 110V countries. The bathrooms are very well appointed and the huge shower head with plenty of water pressure is great to release some stress at the end of a long work day. Best of all, while the hotel is situated on corner of Pall Mall and Waterloo Pl., one can hardly hear any of the street noises because of the duo layers of double pane windows. The hotel also added a on-site gym a few years ago. While the gym is not very large, it has all the equipment I needed and they are fairly new and well-maintained. The breakfast buffet (available as a part of the room package or charged separately at £25) consists of a good spread of options. It's a very nice hotel at a very convenient location for those that prefer the West End.

Yelp
Sofitel St James. The Mary Poppins of London hotels, practically perfect in every way. Oh so attentive and helpful staff really made the difference. From printing some work emails, offering water after a morning jog, to the most wonderful welcome drink. Attention to detail second to none. The bed was extra comfortable. I currently sleep lightly and so appreciated the comfort of a deep sleep even if for a few hours. The Hermes toiletries are refreshing and a quality addition. The hotel location was excellent, close to the bussle of SoHo, and the comfort of Sofitel was a welcome respite.

Yelp
Great location in Piccadilly Circus. Quiet despite the central location. All the amenities, and the breakfast is fantastic. Great staff that is super friendly and helpful and caters to every need. Very luxurious bathroom. And did I say quiet? You won't hear traffic or your neighbors. Absolutely a five-star experience.

Yelp
Great location and impeccable service! Rooms are nice and clean. Room service was always on time and quality as expected.

Yelp
Amazing location and spectacular service! Mix in excellent dining and luxury around every corner and you, as the guest, have an extraordinary stay! Attention was given to every little detail before we felt there was a need. Lightening fast internet and a sumptuous and choice-filled breakfast made the day to day stuff easier. Plenty of complimentary water and teas/coffees to relax with at the end of the day. Hermès bathroom products that delighted the senses, in an elegantly designed bathroom. Close enough to Piccadilly Circus but far enough to avoid the constant noise, the Sofitel's location is ideal. We hardly took the underground because we are in the middle of everything we wanted to experience! Really and truly a perfect stay which we will repeat!

Yelp
We were so happy to pick this hotel while visiting London this summer! If you want to be in central London, not use a taxi, then this is definitely a hotel for you. Perfect location. You can walk everywhere. Oxford Street is 10 min walk, Picadilly 5 min.... Checking in lasted only a couple of minutes. Everyone who works here is extremely helpful and polite. Great, clean room. We had free breakfast with our room and service and the food were fantastic. Great choices and great options. I will suggest, if you don't have breakfast included in the price, stay at the hotel and pay for it, because the food is fantastic. We end up one day 30 min at the bar and had the best drinks we ever had in London. There is a bartender from Latvia, I think, Lukas, who makes amazing cocktails. I had one of the best mojitos ever! The only place I was not impressed was The Balcon. We had dinner here the evening of our arrival. Service is fantastic. Every single waiter was French or spoke fluent French, so you really feel like you are in the middle of France... but unfortunately, we were not impressed at all with the food. I will not recommend this place for dinner, considering that you are in central London and there are some incredible restaurants around. Even with not so impressive dinner, this is still our new favorite hotel in London, and we will be staying here again on our next visit.

Yelp
I love this hotel. Located in the old Cox and Kings bank building this hotel combines the best of historic architecture with all the modern amenities that a business traveler is looking for. This Sofitel is conveniently located in London's West End, near to St. James Park, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace as well as all the shopping on Oxford and Regent streets. The award winning restaurant Brasserie Roux (another review for another day) is located right off the lobby and the St. James Bar with is cushy sofas and chairs is the perfect place for that night cap with friends. There is also the "Rose Lounge" which, while very feminine, is a great place to have your afternoon tea, or relax with a glass of wine after work. Rooms are not inexpensive (about $367 US a night) but they are good sized by European standards and the bathrooms are stocked with nice products. I also liked the small desk area in the room which was perfect for pulling together last minute business details. And those beds! Don't even get me started. I loved sliding between those silky sheets and pulling up that duvet every night I was there! The concierge desk is top notch- able to get tickets and reservations for just about anything that you desire. And willing to take that extra time to make sure you know where you are going when you head out. And they are the first ones to greet you when you return to the hotel and to ask about whatever adventure they sent you on. I love London. But London and a great hotel is just the icing on the cake!

Yelp
I stayed here last weekend during my first trip ever to London. For sightseeing, this location was good because most were 3 or 4 tube stations away. Located off of Picadilly Circus station (less than 5 minutes walking), I felt that it was located in a convenient area for young people. Picadilly area has many shops open late with lights (and even few casinos), and you can truly get that party feel during the night hours. Of course, if you are a bit older, perhaps you would opt out for more quiet area. My room was in the corner, so it was quiet. At the time of this writing, they are currently doing some remodeling inside the hotel and therefore gym is unaccessible. However, the hotel offers complimentary pass to nearby gyms for guests to compensate for this inconvenience. I can't really compare on price and value because this was my first trip out to London, but I felt that I got my money's worth from my stay :-)

Yelp
Very nice hotel and great service. This hotel has a great lobby area with a well designed bar and amazing tea room. The hotel staff is very friendly and demonstrated a high service level. In the room, the beds were very soft. They had some nice welcome gifts for us too. The only thing that drops it from a five star to a four is there was some urine on the toilet in the hotel room bathroom. We had to clean it off and it was not fun. That being said the room was great with a nice view. Great service level.

Yelp
It was my first business trip to London - meaning I would not have a chance to stay such a nice hotel on my own. Comparing other hotels I stayed - Holiday Inn and Hilton - this is the nicest one of all, which is understandable considering it's price tag. Coming from US, the first thing you notice is how you are treated as "ladies and gentleman" in a true meaning at this hotel. Whatever I ask for, even a tiny thing like such as scissors to cut a price tag of a brand new shirt, staple for my work docs, outlet adaptor to use US cell phone charger, their response was "absolutely" without second thought. It applies to every single staff I have spoken with. I especially liked a tea room with pinky, rosy, comfy chairs and tea tables used for a little waiting/meeting area, which made my meeting with clients very pleasant and comfortable. I will try their good deal spa this weekend - including steam sauna and a la carte massage for GBP 80 for 1, 150 for 2 persons. Miya

Yelp
A really beautiful hotel in a great location, just off The Mall, near Trafalgar Square and on the corner with Pall Mall. I book a large room at this hotel every year with work. The hotel are really accommodating and have a great space for us with delicious food, large screens and all the AV you might need. It's well decorated, in good condition and comfortably furnished. It's a really luxurious hotel, and on a site visit a few days ago I noticed the reception area had a display filled with the most gorgeous orchids. The hotel used to be a bank and the basement, where some of the large function rooms are, used to be the vault. The walls are incredibly thick as evidence of this and they have a few decorative pieces around as a reminder of the bank days, such as an old typewriter. We had lunch in the Balcon restaurant. It's a gorgeous setting and the staff were attentive, friendly and not intruding. We all had the sirloin steak with rosemary salt fries and diane sauce. It was perfectly cooked medium rare as I'd asked, the fries were the best I've ever had, the sauce was creamy and delicate so it didn't mask the taste of the steak. It was a really good portion size too...I did think in such a posh place it might be tiny portions but it definitely wasn't the case here. It's not cheap, but for the quality, ambience and service it's what you'd expect. If you're looking for somewhere in central London for a swanky meal, look no further!

Yelp
Below is the review I posted on TripAdvisor when I returned about two weeks ago; had to share it here as well if it can help other travellers, particularly since I loved my stay at Sofitel London St. James... Just returned from a 6 night stay at Sofitel London St. James. After finding this hotel on tripadvisior, researching, and reading the positive reviews, I am extremely satisfied that I stayed at the Sofitel London St. James, especially for my first visit to London. The location is ideal for sight seeing as many attractions were within walking distance. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the beauty of hotel and the service I received from the staff. Laura at the front desk provided superb service; my welcome and early check-in was ideal, particularly after a long flight from Toronto and travelling solo. Throughout my stay, the staff always made me feel welcome and the conceirge was always friendly and helpful. My Luxury king room on the second floor was perfect with a nice view. Women, if you are travelling from Toronto, be sure to bring an international voltage converter if you bring hair tools like hot rollers. Other than that, my room was spacious, comfortable and beautiful. I used the gym several times during my stay and also their award winning So SPA. Suzette was extremely helpful in booking my massage and during my spa visit where I brought a guest. We both had the 60-minute In-Deep Relaxing Massage, used the steam room, and had champagne in the lounge. I suggest requesting my massage therapist, Yuki - one of the best massages I have ever had... Thank you Sofitel London St. James! You have truly helped made my first visit to London a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic hotel in London. If you're thinking of booking a hotel at this location, it's in a great spot. Central to a lot of things in London. And close to the theater district too. Any other hotels at the Picadilly Circus are a hassle to get to because of the traffic. This location is close enough to a great shopping district without any of the congestion. They provide bottled water daily which is very nice. Coffee and tea are also provided in the room. It's 12/2016 and the exchange rate is great for Americans traveling to the U.K. Breakfast was included with our package and it was definitely a great breakfast. It was buffet style but you could also order an al la carte item with that breakfast too. Very nice touch. And they made cappuccino and espresso very well too. Pricing for room service was very reasonable too. If we head back to London again anytime soon, we would not hesitate to book this hotel again. You won't hear your neighbors opening and closing their doors or running water at all. The rooms are well insulated. I really can't think of any negatives about this hotel. Friendly staff. Everyone seemed to be happy and cheerful all the time. Amazing. Not sure why anyone would give this hotel anything less than a five star rating on Yelp. Anything less must have been an aberration and a one time thing. The staff constantly asked how they could make your experience at the hotel better and if there was anything they could do or provide. For the afternoon tea, what was that person expecting? Massive subs, fatty donuts, and Costco sized pastries? No, there are plenty of finger pastries and sandwiches. No one is supposed to be running around trying to scarf down as much food during that time as possible. I think I'm going to start cutting off the crust again from my sandwiches from now on too. It's Afternoon Tea, that's how it is... Enjoy the tea and savor your time there...

Yelp
The bar in this 5* hotel is a real gem for those who appreciate a good cocktail! I would recommend "White crush" to get you started... and then you can figure it out on your own

Yelp
Great hotel, got s a beautiful room, not much a view: Pros: * Great shower pressure *Gorgeous bathroom * breakfast is delicious *great location - near Piccadily Circus tube station (and close to a Spar to pick up water or snacks) * stuff super friendly Cons: * Expensive, but how can you blame them for such a nice hotel I would LOVE to go back here had a great vacation there!

Yelp
Wonderful stay. The location is superb. The service was excellent. The room was nice and large and clean with a great shower. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Overall we were very happy and will be back. You must also try the afternoon tea with the pastries.

Yelp
Awesomely close to Piccadilly Circus, with tons of amazing shopping. Hotel is clean and the service is excellent. Breakfast is fantastic especially if you get served by the best waiter in town KRASIMIR he is the jewel of the restaurant. Towards the end of my stay we were helped by another lovely waitress, Marime. She was so kind and attentive!

Yelp
This was the last of 5 Sofitels that I went to on a big trip helping my parents move back to France and this was definitely an awesome experience to end on. The room was impeccable, the staff at the reception and around the hotel were delightful, polite, private and courteous. The breakfast was prodigious and plentiful and delicious! While I am not a huge London addict by any means, if I find myself there again, I look very much forward to the experience. This Sofitel has history, class, sophistication that doesn't make you feel embarrassed. Keep up the great work!

Yelp
Wow! We stayed here at the St. James Sofitel last year twice on the same trip. We stayed for a night on the way to Italy, then again 2 weeks later on the way back (we flew through Heathrow). It was fantastic. We arrived VERY early at about 7:30am after a long long flight from the US, and we very happy when the staff greeted us and gave us our room at that very early hour. The room itself was a little cozy but it had a fantastic bathroom. It was actually just perfect for my wife and I. The location couldn't be better. You can walk just about anywhere, and the underground is just about 2 blocks away. The concierge was top notch. Very knowledgeable and quick to make suggestions. On the second trip back, we were upgraded to an absolutely huge room which let us end our trip in a great way. The last morning here we had breakfast in the Brasserie Roux, which isn't cheap, but a great splurge breakfast. There ARE some much cheaper alternatives within a block though. Cafe Mario and Apostrophe are both within a 2 minute walk and great. This is the ONLY place I'd want to stay in London. It's not all that cheap, but definitely worth it and the service is top-notch. Honestly, I booked it on Priceline and got great deal (around $200 US), but I would pay full price to ensure that I had this hotel the next time around. Am I gushing? Yes!
google avatar

Yelp
Super quiet, comfortable rooms. You feel like you're the only one staying in the hotel. Hermes toiletries will make you feel like the head of state. Staff is very polite and friendly. Top notch. The hotel is in a great central location. High tea is fantastic and definitely worth a try. The Rose Room is like having tea with your favorite Grammy, but the selection of tea is great as are the French pastries. The live harp music is a very nice touch. The only downside is the the lobby and hallways are very heavily perfumed. The smell of lilies and roses will about knock you out. Fortunately, the rooms are odor-free.

Yelp
The Sofitel Hotel is over the top, great service, the entire stay was a delight to the eyes, the check in clerk was very friendly and helpful, my room accmodations were excellent, and I can't wait to stay there again.

Yelp
Have only been to the bar here, but so welcoming and comfortable. The prices are right, service is great and the choice of food is perfect. Furthermore, the waiters are all handsome. We got the serving platter: lobster croquette (3 of them, so rich and delicious), fried calamari (and lemon! delicious) and charcuterie (standard). Finally, they refresh the nibbles consistently, which is amazing :) Would 10/10 recommend for a relaxed, not too crowded Saturday night!
google avatar

Soomin R.

Yelp
To begin, this is a review of the afternoon tea at the Rose Lounge of Sofitel -- not of the hotel stay itself. This was my first afternoon tea in a long while, and it did not disappoint. First, they had a small but a good selection of tea. I had the Mediterranean Rose, and it was the perfect way to ease myself into a Saturday in the hustle and bustle of central London. Second, they offered a solid selection of pastries and sweets to accompany tea. The four of us couldn't finish all that was served, and the raspberry macaroon was the best macaroon I had ever had. Third, the venue was small but cozy and posh with great service. I'd highly recommend this place if you're meeting up with a close friend for an engaging chat. Finally, price was relatively acceptable: the tea+pastries course cost 30 pounds and had we added cocktails at the end, it would have been 35. Of course, this is not a small fee, but for a once-in-a-while experience at a posh hotel, I think it was worthwhile.

Yelp
4.5 stars for one of the nicest staffed, excellent location, and boutique-y type of hotel in all of London. OK, that last part of quite presumptuous because we have not stayed in other hotels in London. It didn't get a 5 star from me because we have stayed at nicer and more luxurious hotels in the past and because as much as we liked the hotel and this isn't their fault per se, the loss of electricity twice was kind of a bummer [once was unexpected and the second was scheduled and they did let the guests know ahead of time]. The other thing was the turn down service. It was inconsistent on when they would do the service each day. Sometimes it was 7PM, other times it was 8:30PM or even 9PM. OK, now I'm just being snooty and splitting hairs and probably just being obnoxious. The rooms were quite comfortable and modern. We had bathroom items from Hermes, the shower had great water pressure [maybe even a little too much from the rainfall shower head!]. But more than that, I think what stands out for me is the service. The service in this hotel is what you would expect for a place like the Sofitel. We've never stayed at another Sofitel before, but staying here made me want to try other Sofitels around the world in the future. The eager to please staff, the knowledgable concierge, and the service in their restaurant was just outstanding. Last, but not least, free WIFI all over the hotel [lobby, hallway, in room] if you're a guest. Nice touch. Great hotel, great location, great staff. Keep up the great work Sofitel!

Yelp
This is a great hotel in a perfect central location. The service is excellent. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The restaurant and bar very good and beautiful. It has it all including a spa and gym. I am staying here again next month which speaks for itself.

Yelp
My favourite Hotel in London. I stay here whenever I come. In particular I like the design of the rooms. Anything but overloaded. a bit minimalistic in design, but lacking no comfort. Expensive, but on a comparative level good value for the money.

Yelp
After staying 3 nights in Wembley we decided to move closer to the action of LFW and head to the Sofitel St James which is much closer to all the action. I was so happy to be within a ten minute walking distance from shows and events. I have stayed at many hotels before and I was amazed at how friendly and attentive all the staff was. They payed attention to literally every detail. Even the toilet paper in our room smelled like vanilla. They don't cut any corners or skip a beat here! If you are into designer fashion like I am well each room has Hermes shampoos and conditioners. How cool is that? I obviously brought them home with me whatever I didn't use. When I run out it means it's time to visit again for more! Breakfast was another wonderful treat that consisted of A la carte baked goods and pastries with an amazing spread of actual real fresh fruit and not just your basic melons and grapes. They had fresh grapefruit, cut peaches, pomegranate seeds, kiwi and much more! If you know me, you know I LOVE room service. We were so tired most nights that room service was a must. If you stay at the Sofitel make sure to order the fries. They were thin cut salty goodness just how I love them. I am not one to work out but if you like a good workout then have no fear. The hotel offers an amazing gym that you can use for free as well as a spa which you can pay to have services done. If you are looking for a hotel in a great location that is central to all tourist sites, shops, theatre and restaurants well look no further. This hotel is a class act all the way. A huge thanks to Sofitel for hosting my stay!

Yelp
Sofitel is really amazing. The rooms are not so expensive, very elegant and classy. And the bathrooms are full of nice products. With lovely décor and nice atmosphere. It really feels more like home. The foods are very delicious and unique. And the staffs are very friendly and attentive.

Yelp
The hotel is very nice it's clean and beautiful. Unfortunately, our room was burglarized. The money and jewelry was stolen from our room. When we contacted security they told us that they will open an investigation, which only God know if they actually did, since we discovered that our things were stolen upon checking out of the hotel to go to Paris. The management and security are the worst, they never even reached out to update us on their so called investigation. I had to email them and call them myself to get any updates, only to find out that the head of security was on vacation and no one knew anything about our case. Long story short ...when I finally got ahold of the head of security she told me that after interviews of their staff they didn't find the person who stole our things... Wow. Shocking. Thy were actually expecting that person to admit to stealing the money and jewelry??? Incredible. I told them to give me the report of their investigation so I could present it to my insurance company and they told me that they couldn't. They could only present it to London PD for their own investigation. Absolutely ridiculous! I had MY things missing from MY room in THEIR hotel and I am not allowed to see the report??!! Seriously? Idiots! They didn't even offer us any sort of remedy. We will never stay there again and I'd advise for you to do the same. Clearly the type of staff that works there is absolutely negligent and dishonest. Stay away!!!!

Yelp
Afternoon tea wasn't all that, limited sandwich selection, the waitress was very confused and slow, my friend had to ask her 4 times for water as she kept forgetting to get the order. Spa facilities are ok (therefore I give 3stars) . The facial was very boring , just rubbing and rubbing , there was no extraction, no steam, the facial product was stinging me at first until I told the beautician that I had sensitive skin then she changed it to sensitive skin (which she should have asked me before) all and all I wouldn't like to come back for facial nor tea.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this hotel. I went here on my honeymoon and the breakfast is to die for. It got me hooked on English breakfast. The room had rose petals all over the bed when we first walked in - so cute! The service was great and hotel immaculate. We didn't go to the restaurant downstairs, but we did go to afternoon tea and it was fantastic. The only complaint I have is the bathroom doors in our room didn't seem to seal very well, there was a large space in between the double doors so not a lot of privacy when you need it. Also was in a great location, close to all kinds of cool stuff. I will definitely be staying here again.

Yelp
Sofitel is a french owned hotel, so though in London, their employees speak french and their restaurant serves french food.. totally threw me off but it was a good surprise for me :) The standard room/bathrooms a tad larger then standard french hotel rooms, but they have some awesome features, for example: - The fix your room twice in a day, for the 2nd fix they actually prepare your room for bedtime (get your blankets, slippers ready, etc) - Newspaper delivered to your door every morning - a special switch at your door which sets a light outside your door for 'do not disturb', rather than the sign you normally hang - beds are the most comfortable that I've ever stayed in compared to other hotels throughout europe - the rooms are lavishly furnished and very comfortable - and the most important: restaurant MENU is THE best :) I love french food so this was a big plus for me, food quality was great Sofitel is located about a couple blocks from the main streets so it is in a very convenient location, yet away from the busy streets

Yelp
Five stars for the service and atmosphere in the lounge bar. Excellent place to seek refuge from the unwashed touristic masses, have a coffee & a cocktail, regroup and get on with your day or evening. Thank you.

Yelp
I am no stranger to the Sofitel St. James, and have been staying here every time I have visited London for the past 7 years or so. This hotel never disappoints. I used to stay in their suites before they refurbished them and loved them then. Now, with a new and super elegant, comfortable, spacious and luxurious design I enjoy my stays even more. The hotel staff are always pleasant and helpful. The service is impeccable and timely. The details (the little treats they leave every afternoon, the wonderful Hermes goodies, the amazingly comfortable beds, the soothing evening tea by the bedside, the personal service and the super welcoming door man, among many other things) make each London stay feel like a well deserved retreat. The So Spa never disappoints, and the afternoon tea in the rose lounge a reminder that this very French hotel is still in London- and in the most fun part of London at that. This wonderful hotel is my favorite part of visiting this lovely city, and its quiet location in the middle of the bustling shopping and theater district makes it a gem to be rediscovered during every trip to London.

Yelp
I love the Sofitel. This particular one is in an excellent location. You can fall out of the hotel and are close to so many things. The service is excellent. The rooms are lovely and the beds are so comfortable. I really enjoyed the food in the restaurant. The gym at this Sofitel is so nice. The spa is really beautiful. They just opened the spa a few months ago and I found the technicians to be professional and experienced. I knock of one star because the concierge service is horrible. We traveled to London over the Christmas holiday which is a difficult time in London because a lot of places are closed. We left our Christmas Eve dinner open and asked the hotel for recommendations. Much to my surprise, the hotel couldn't come up with anything. I went online myself and found a perfect little place for dinner. We weren't asking for anything fancy and didn't give too many particulars. This is not something that I should be doing on my vacation. I have to sit on the Internet looking for places to eat? I don't think so. On another occasion, the concierge told us the WRONG BUS LINE to take to go over to the Tate Modern. We ended up in a dodgy area due to his lack of explanation. All in all the Sofitel was a great experience, however, be cautious in using their concierge.

Yelp
Truly impressed with the customer- first service, the luxurious amenities, and the perfect central location. Just back from a week in London for R&R with my wife and met all the criteria for wanting to return to here for my return trip. Have traveled to lots of global destinations, strong recommend. We found it from TripAdvisor and would definitely rate 5 out of 5. Nice job!

Yelp
You couldn't ask for a better location. Very close to Piccadilly Circus, lots of shopping, and great sights. The service was excellent and the staff was warm and welcoming. The room was ample and comfortable. Would certainly do again.

Yelp
Sofitel St James is centrally located - 5 minutes walk from both Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square - meaning it is accessible by tube. Whilst on a main thoroughfare, I would recommend taking a map unless you know London well. It's quite easy to take a wrong turn. My wife and I stayed here for a weekend in October 2008. We found the staff to be very accommodating without being intrusive. The public areas were simple, but impressive. The interior had been sympathetically furnished to complement the archtiecture of the building. The rose lounge is unique and makes you feel as though you in someone's home, rather than a chain hotel. The bar, overpriced as you would expect, is pleasant enough for a drink before going out or when returning. All very comfortable and secluded. The restaurant obviously has a good reputation, but with so much selection in the area, it didn't really appeal sufficiently for us to eat there. The rooms are tastefully furnished - genuinely antique furniture and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Most impressive was the bathroom, which defintely has a wow factor. It ticks all the boxes for a romantic weekend. It would be fine for those on a business trip, although some people might prefer a larger room. The views are pretty uninspiring - in our case overlooking a flat roof. Sofitel represents decent value for money in the area. I wouldn't say it is truly outstanding, but delivers everything you would expect for a hotel in this price range. Would stay again and recommend. However, if you are looking for something really special, I suspect there are better options.

Yelp
Very bad experience! We stayed 3 nights and didn't like that housekeeping kept coming into our room while we were out. The second day we left the do not disturb light on and housekeeping still came in and did their thing. However they were still in the room when we got back at 7pm to shower and get dressed for a dinner reservation we made from weeks before our trip. We were so mad and went downstairs. The girl at the reception was less than helpful and shuffled us to EMILY who started to give us bs! She questioned us about if we are sure we left the do not disturb or not. They treat and talk to the guests like we are stupid and don't know the difference. Yes we know! We are the one traveling! Sure enough we get back to the room to find a note saying we tried to come in but the sign do not disturb was lite so we came in anyways! WTF?? What kind of policy is this?? We don't like people coming in and out of our room while we have our things out. Our passports, cash, etc. Nevertheless we had to cancel our dinner reservations we had made from the us and went to a whatever overpriced tourist trap near the hotel that probably gives the hotel a kick back! Not very happy with the hotel and especially the management. After complaining to EMILY she said there is nothing she can do especially since we booked our hotel thru hotels.com as if we didn't pay thru the nose.

Yelp
Sofitel St James is a beautiful hotel with great customer service. They really go out of their way to help you feel at home and welcomed. Some times customer service helps certain hotels elevate although they lack in other areas. This was not the case with Sofitel: The hotel is beautiful, our room was also spacious with a great bathroom, and the location is very close to the Westminster Bridge and the Buckingham Palace. You may not have to take a taxi throughout your trip because everything you want is located about 10-20 minute walk from the hotel. We also had tea at the Rose Lounge. That was a great and relaxing experience. We had the seasonal Darjeeling tea. The room-service was also good. We will definitely come back.
