The Best Soft Serve In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"There are plenty of vegan options on this list for the lactose-intolerant among us. But if you’re the kind of lactose-intolerant person who eats dairy anyway and suffers the consequences, you should know that Soho’s Softside doesn’t just sell light, airy, soft serve—they sell Lactaid, too. Order a pistachio and strawberry swirl, or some vanilla in a cup drizzled with olive oil. Softside is from the team behind Upside Pizza right next door, so you can chase your cone with a pepperoni slice (or vice versa)." - willa moore, hannah albertine, arden shore, molly fitzpatrick

The Best Soft Serve in NYC | Eater NY

"Soho slice shop Upside serves soft serve at a separate kiosk, Soft Side, as well as from a machine inside of its pizzeria in Greenpoint. Load up on pies and then cool down with something sweet. Flavors include strawberry, pistachio, chocolate, and vanilla, two of which may be combined in a single swirl. Toppings range from rainbow sprinkles to ground-up Oreos, and milkshakes are also available." - John Tsung

Softside Review - Soho - New York - The Infatuation

"Softside doesn’t just sell soft ice cream—they sell Lactaid, too. It’s the kind of super millennial touch that could be annoying, if the ice cream wasn’t so good. But it is good: it’s light, airy, and creamy, and you can get your standard chocolate-dipped cone, but also a pistachio and strawberry swirl, or some vanilla in a cup swimming with olive oil. The walk-up window in Soho is open every day, which means that you never have to scour the streets of Manhattan for the ice cream truck again. Yes, the prices are higher, but the swirls are huge. Softside is from the team behind right next door, so you can chase your pepperoni slice with Lactaid and a cone (or vice versa). Note that in the winter, this place operates as Soupside, serving different seasonal soups. " - Willa Moore

So sorry but actually so mid. The pistachio nor strawberry had much of a flavor, and the flavors are very artificial. Like if it’s gonna taste fake it can at least pack a punch. $7.50 for a small sortserve is also just too much. Then an extra $2 for olive oil and honey? Seems steep… It also just lowkey looks kinda ugly and sad. Like it’s not bad or anything it’s just not good. One pro: when you get rainbow sprinkles they really coat it in sprinkles.

How do I even come back from this? The vanilla soft serve with honey, olive oil, and sea salt completely altered my brain chemistry. It’s hands down one of the most delicious combos I’ve ever had. I went three times during my six-day trip to New York, and I even made sure it was the last thing I ate before flying back to London. The obsession is real — I literally tried to recreate it the day I got home. If you’re in NYC, you have to try it.

I came here for a sweet treat with one of my girl friends after our dinner and it hit the spot! This spot doesn't have indoor or outdoor seating, so it's definitely a grab and go spot, but I didn't mind! Their menu is fairly simple with four flavor options: chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and strawberry. However, you could definitely get some toppings to add on! My friend and I got their chocolate/vanilla swirl & pistachio/strawberry swirl. Both were delicious, and portion sizes were great. The only thing is that I wish the pistachio flavor was a bit stronger, but it was still great nonetheless. Great soft serve!

Am I becoming a soft-serve guy? I’ve always preferred the potent deliciousness of hard, scooped ice cream, but Softside makes me question that preference. They make beautiful spirals of dense, flavorful, satisfyingly cold ice cream. They aim to please, and do. Pistachio is my go-to. It’s a hard flavor to get right, to not overdue it. Softside handles it masterfully.

Yummy soft serve flavors ! We got the matcha subdae . It was hard to enjoy the matcha flavor with the hard shell but it still tasted good . The soft serve vanilla itself was decent - not as good as caffe panna but still good !

i fell in love with their olive oil drizzle ice cream and this time came to try their matcha sundae collab with madhappy. it looked very pretty and the ice cream itself was very good and i really liked the matcha shell but there wasn’t much matcha flavor at all. i kind of wished it was matcha soft serve. the lactaid made me chuckle though.
