Sōhn - Review - Dogpatch - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Sōhn is a Korean cafe in the old Daily Driver—the multi-floor space in Dogpatch is now a spot for specialty lattes and patty melts with beef and kimchi slaw, as well as desserts like peach-sesame cobbler. They also have a retail section, and plenty of seating. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

Good food, chill atmosphere and great service. I ordered the Mayak Gyeran Rice Bowl, melona matcha latte and hojicha dirty latte, they were all delicious and got me full. Had to wait in line for almost an hour though, hopefully the wait becomes shorter later on

Stopped by Sohn during their soft opening and loved everything about it. The space is bright, modern, and welcoming, perfect for hanging out or getting some work done. The drinks are the highlight: the banana oat milk matcha is a standout, and their cream tops are next-level. The pastries are not only beautiful but absolutely delicious (the strawberry toast is a must!). This place already feels like a neighborhood gem and has all the makings of a future SF staple. Can’t wait to see it grow.

Sohn is an incredible addition to dogpatch. My girlfriends and I came on a Sunday and shared a bunch of dishes and drinks.. Our favorites were the gochugang cookie (soo buttery and you can really taste the smoky kick), the popcorn chicken (perfectly crunchy + the rice cake adds a fun texture.. could use a dipping sauce but maybe that’s just me since I’m a sauce boss), and the cold noodles that were well seasoned and refreshing on a warm day. I can’t wait to come back to try the jook when it’s not sold out. I also want to come back to try the banana oat milk and the melona soda… it was sold out when we were there. We left with full happy bellies, big smiles, and an appreciation for a space where we can sit and catch up that felt like my dream living room !! We sat upstairs and around the corner where there was a cute couch and wavy wood table. The space is so airy and open - can’t wait for the events that they will host there in the future. Yes the line is long, but it’s so worth it. I really appreciated the owner coming out to greet all of us customers. It shows love and respect and makes me want to come back even more.

UPDATE: there is now both takeout and dine in lines which really makes it convenient to get a quick drink without having to line up for dine in! Super to grab their great matcha on the go :). Very cute spot. The drinks are amazing though we had the breakfast sandwich which was underwhelming.

Just like with the other reviews they make you wait in line. One of the staff members eventually came out with a QR code if you wanted to order to-go so I would recommend asking for that right away. Space is nice and big with lots of seating. Ordered a matcha which I thought was ok. FYI you have to put in your own sweetener. They have simple syrup on the counter for you. Food I thought was good. Ordered the kalbi melt (croissant is a nice touch) and popcorn chicken with rice cakes. I would definitely order the popcorn chicken again. They’ll bring you the food but expect you to clear your own table FYI. Overall I would come back and try other food items but definitely take it to go.

I brought my elderly Korean parents to dine at Sohn right at opening on a Friday morning. My dad ordered the Mayak Gyeran rice and devoured it. He loved the flavor profile and all the mixed greens and was so impressed how much flavor there was without any gochujang. My mom ordered the spicy cold noodle salad, and it was the perfect dish for her, as she loves noodles and doesn’t prefer to eat meat. We also ordered the popcorn chicken, butter mandu, sausage croissant, and the breakfast sandwich (updated recipe with bacon and onion jam that I unfortunately didn’t get to try because my dad ate it all before I could grab a bite). Everything was delicious! Food came out quickly, service was warm and friendly from every team member we engaged with, and people checked on us often. The space filled up immediately at opening with people trickling in and grabbing tables while hostesses manned the takeout orders swiftly. Despite how many people were in the space, it didn’t feel overly crowded or noisy. Korean music playing in the background is such a great vibe for hanging out or working, and the volume level was perfect for having a conversation with my parents. Everything about our visit was warm, homey, comforting, and hospitable! I live down in the South Bay, but will try to make it up here at least 1-2x/month to work, meet up with people, and grab a soulful bite. The food, drinks, artwork peppered throughout, Maum store, and space all pay homage to Korean food, heritage and design, and it made me feel so proud to be a Korean too.

Came on the opening day and waited 2h in line. Great vibe on the inside! They were out of most things but I got a banana oat milk matcha latte and it was really good, amazing banana flavor with the earthiness of the matcha coming through. Will def have to come back when it’s less busy to try the other things and hang out!

Google
In a time when your time and money are valuable. This place does nothing to respect either. Over-priced, under-delivered and sub-par. It's truly a shame. Latte was cold. Popcorn chicken is overcooked. Fry oil is probably burned already, and they've only been open for an hour. Egg sandwich is fine. Update: egg sandwich was not fine. I was eating paper that was left on accidentally.

Yelp
Favorite Food Item: Patty Melt Favorite Drink Item: Espresso Banana Oat Latte Server was super nice and accommodating. Vibes and aesthetic are immaculate.

Yelp
here for grand opening. Food and Drink: - Galbi Patty Melt was delicious but a little messy. pretty filling. 9/10 - Ran out of hojicha around 12pm so got the matcha with cream top and oatmilk. All I tasted was oatmilk, I tried and could not taste a hint of matcha or the cream top. Cream top was not creamy. 1/10 Ambiance - lots of seating and outlets, great for studying. lighting is nice not harsh at all, seats are comfortable, tables and walkable areas are spacious. overall very aesthetic - music was incredibly loud. i could talk to my friend across from me, but it was getting to where I had to focus a little more. for reference, i have noise cancelling airpods, and I could fully hear lyrics through the noise cancelling. -8/10

Yelp
A beautiful new space in Dogpatch with the aesthetics only topped by how delicious the food is. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their craft. We tried the patty melt and gyeran jjim breakfast sandwich, paired with a hojicha banana oat milk latte and an espresso banana oat milk latte, and I'm still dreaming about all of it. The food is full of beautiful Korean flavors and whoever thought to make that banana oat milk deserves a medal. Can't wait to go back to try more, and to cozy up on a grey day in their lovely space.

Yelp
I came here with friends on the Labor Day Sunday morning. There were two lines that were both quite long: one line for people who wanted to dine in and a line for people who just wanted to order to-go. While both lines were the same length, I was expecting to wait a long time in the dine in line, but we were in line for only around 30 minutes! I was seated in an upstairs lounge area, where there was comfy couch seating. The rest of the upstairs seating was regular tables and chairs where many people were doing work. Popcorn Chicken: The chicken was crispy, and the way they fried and seasoned the tteokbokki was delicious! Sohn Breakfast Sandwich: Sesame seeds got a bit everywhere but tasty sandwich. Seoul Sausage Pepper Croissant: Generous cheese & yummy sausage! We also ordered their Matcha Latte, Hojicha Latte, and Melona Matcha Latte. The Matcha Latte was my personal favorite, and the Melona Matcha Latte was slightly bitter but matched an expected Melona taste. I loved the aesthetics of this cafe and would love to come back to visit soon!

Yelp
I was very excited to try Sohn because I kept seeing it on TikTok but honestly was so disappointed with the drinks and food. The matcha and hojicha latte with cream top were both unsweetened and the cream top was watery. We also ordered the rice plate with mushrooms and egg, the cold noodle, the breakfast sandwich, and the galbi burger. The rice plate was bland and unseasoned, the rice was mushy and overcooked. The cold noodles were just ok, nothing special. The breakfast sandwich was mid, the bread was extremely greasy and hard. The galbi burger used the same dry bread and the meat was BEYOND overcooked. It was so dry and inedible. The food was below standards especially for the price. The service was just ok, it was more like a self service cafe than a sit down. Definitely will not be coming back.

Yelp
I love this beautiful café! Gorgeous, trendy spaces like this is what I miss about NYC and now with Sohn, SF finally has something worthy to rival it. This Korean inspired cafe is 2 floors. It just opened, so the lines are long. I came on a Sunday at noon. There are two separate lines: one for dine-in along the northside (45 min wait), and one for takeout along the southside (30 min wait). Fortunately, this café faces west so that means you will be very comfortable waiting in the shade while in line. If you're ordering takeout, be ready to place your order and pay once you get to the front of the line with the hostess. (You should review the menu online first.) From there, it will be an additional 10-15 minute wait for your order to be ready, but you are welcome to wait inside in the front or peruse the small Maum store inside. (There are also single-stall unisex bathrooms in the back.) The staff is very friendly. In partnership with E'pume Studio, they even offered those waiting in line a complimentary bouquet of roses to advertise their flower arranging workshop. I ordered the Hojicha Latte with Cream Top, which was pretty, but tasted just OK... If I were to do it again, I would opt for the banana milk version instead for some sweetness. I must return to dine in and try out their food next time! I asked how early I should arrive in the morning to minimize wait time: The staff says people start lining up at 9:30 or 9:45 AM, but since the whole space is available at 10 AM, the entire line gets seated right away upon doors opening at 10 AM. (Note they are closed on Monday and Tuesday.)

Yelp
Skip matcha, I was aware of this but wanted to try! It's premade not whisked in person. The sausage croissant was great! Really want to come back and get the galbi melt. It's a massive croissant stuffed with beef, seems like a perfect hefty brunch item to have

Yelp
San Francisco, Dogpatch. August 2025. San Francisco doesn't have any defined areas for Korean-Americans, like a Japantown or Chinatown. So an area ripe for industrial gentrification, like Dogpatch, is both an unlikely place and sensible choice for a place like SOHN. You will read, "Many Hands, One Table", or " Many Hands, Made For All". Sohn is Korean for "hand". SOHN is intended as a gathering place for Korean-American artists and makers. It also is a buzzy Korean American inspired cafe. The industrial interior has been turned into a two level cafe and open store by Cathie Hong. There is comfy living room seating, industrial counter space around a barista area, and lots of tables on three sides of the second floor landing. The cafe is led by Deuki Hong, a CIA graduate who has worked both white linen table restaurants and creative kitchens. The drinks are fun and visually neat. The bakery side turns out quality items. But it is the kitchen that shines. Hong gets to run his own thing, where he can celebrate being Korean-American. Literally, he is the sohn maht, "taste of the hand", who puts care and creativity into his food. You've had a smash burger that drips all over your hands? Try the variation of a west coast patty melt. Take a tteokgalbi patty with cheese, topped with a tangy spicy kimchi coleslaw, then drop it between a flakey sesame studded square croissant. I hate, hate, hate, messy burgers dripping with sauces that take six napkins to eat - but I will eat this one anytime. Popcorn Chicken? Everyone has a variation of Korean Fried Chicken. This boneless crispy crunchy variety is a take on dakgangjeong. Throw in some pillowy fried balls of tteok. Dust everything with powdered Parae - the same stuff you get in those packs of seasoned Korean laver or gimbap. I would order the parae dusted tteok balls as a drink anju anytime - they are great. I have to go back. This is the kind of proud Korean influenced food I would only expect to find in the Arts District of Los Angeles. So glad to see a place like this in San Francisco. I have to go back.

Yelp
In terms of aesthetic and space, this is probably the nicest cafe I've seen in SF in a while! We got the matcha, the rice bowl, and the gochujang cookie. The matcha latte was a 4/5. It was strong enough to taste the matcha and I appreciated that it wasn't pre-sweetened. It had a little too much ice though so I would ask them to adjust next time. The rice bowl was a 5/5: delicious sauce and perfectly cooked egg. I would ask to add in some more protein next time. Gochujang cookie was unfortunately a 0: I think something went wrong when they made this one. It had the right color on top but once we bit into it, it tasted just like a plain old sugar cookie with no gochujang flavor at all. We'll be back to try more things like the patty melt! Make sure you plan ahead for the long queues (there are separate lines for dine in and takeout) if you're there on a weekend.

Yelp
Beautiful spacious cafe space with lively Korean R&B music in the background. We came at 10am, the opening time, on a Friday and was seated at 10:20 since there were already 20 people waiting ahead of us (however crowd died down around 11am with plenty of seating). We were seated upstairs at the communal table with 3 other couples due to limited seating which I really liked! It was spacious and didn't feel cramped. You order from a QR code at your table and pay on the site. They'll bring your food out relatively quickly. They have a self-service model (termed "helping hand") for everything else such as waters, straws, napkins, to-go boxes, wifi password, etc. that you obtain from the various stands and counters. It's also expected that you clean up after yourself by putting your plates, cups, and trash away. For food and drinks, we wanted to order unique items so we got the banana oatmilk latte, melona oat matcha, Sohn breakfast sandwich (Korean bacon egg and cheese on sesame croissant), and a sausage pepper onion croissant. The Sohn breakfast sandwich was 10/10! The egg was super fluffy and the sweet onion jam complemented the salty bacon perfectly. The sausage pepper croissant was served cold which was disappointing but I enjoyed the complexity of flavors and textures. The melona matcha tastes exactly as you expect, like a melona bar melted into matcha. Not too sweet. The banana latte had very strong banana and espresso flavors but was a bit too thick for my liking. Overall, this new cafe is a vibe! Love their playlist and open atmosphere. Will be back for a study session!

Yelp
There's been a lot of hype around this Korean cafe, so I had high expectations. I first tried to visit on opening weekend, but the line was over 40-50 people long, with an estimated wait time of about an hour and a half so I decided to come back on a weekday instead. When I returned on a Wednesday, the wait was much more manageable. There were separate lines for takeout and dine in; we waited about 20 minutes in the dine in line and were seated on the second floor. The cafe had a clean aesthetic and was quite spacious. It also felt welcoming and relaxing with people working on their laptops. I ordered a banana matcha latte, a gochujang caramel cookie, and a Korean sausage pepper croissant. The matcha latte was tasty and strong, but the pastries were just average in my opinion. I would like to come back to try their hot food, though I'll probably wait until the crowds die down a bit more.

Yelp
What's the newest craze in SF? A must-try cafe shaking up SF's food scene. Parking (3.5/5): Challenging on main street but may have better luck a few blocks out Ambiance (5/5): Absolutely fell in love with the space. It was modernized and chic. Perfect for a date or hanging out. Service (N/A): We got the option to order for takeout since it was going to be a 45+ min wait. Brief interactions with staff were friendly and helpful Food (5/5): - Banana Oat Milk Hojicha Latte: Banana flavor was really strong but blended well with the hojicha - Matcha Signature Cream Top: Cream top was cheesy--unexpected, but interesting - Popcorn Chicken: Loved the combination of textures with the popcorn chicken and fried rice cakes--savory and addicting - Mayak Gyeran Rice Bowl: Absolutely loved the Mayak Gyeran Rice with the soft-boiled egg, savory rice, sweet marinated mushrooms, and refreshing herbs. - Sohn Breakfast Sandwich: featured a delightful Korean steamed egg (Gyeran Jjim), which was soft yet flavorful. The savory ham and cheese balanced out the whole sandwich. - Galbi Patty Melt: Had a well-cooked, well-marinated beef patty paired with crunchy kimchi--really good. - Eric's Gochujang Caramel Cookie: Tried Eric's Gochujang Caramel Cookie, which was slightly on the sweeter side but had a nice hint of gochujang tanginess. I loved the food and will definitely be back especially for that Mayak Gyeran Rice Bowl :)

Yelp
I'm petty AF... I'll give you the Gen Z stare if you've overstayed your welcome. And, that's why I can't work in the industry...I wouldn't last a day. Over the weekend, there was a ridic long line at SŌHN so I returned on a weekday after an appt. Line wasn't long (~15 people) but it was slow moving. It took nearly an hour to get to the front. And, it would have taken longer had people not left the line. There seems to be a very slow table turnover because peeps are laptop camping and there doesn't seem to be any time restrictions for the free WiFi. BUT, the staff is hustling! I was able to get my order within 10 minutes so props to them. Been following Chef Hong for years, from his pop-up at Boba Guys, Sunday at the Museum, and Sunday Bird...now he's taken over Daily Driver and has transformed it into a gorgeous two-story Korean-American Cafe. T H I N G S T O K N O W - One line for takeout and dine-in (no online orders at this time). - For dine-in, once staff lets you in, it's open seating and ordering is done via QR code. They'll deliver your order to you. - Self-serve water. Bus your own table once you're done. - Street parking is hella hard. Carpool, take muni, or a ride share otherwise, you'll be circling and circling. M E N U Small concise menu of Korean-American breakfast and lunch fare. Pastries from Neighbor Bakehouse (they have a croissant collab w/ LA's Seoul Sausage). Coffee and tea (Kettl) available. Everything is under $16 (including their galbi patty melt). No SF mandate fees. D R I N K * Matcha w/ oat milk, SŌHN signature cream top ($7): https://tinyurl.com/bpakhcd6 - Requested less sweet - No charge for oat milk SŌHN's take on an einspänner, the matcha latte had a nice grassy, earthy flavor with a deliciously rich and creamy whipped topping. F O O D * Butter Mandu: Beef filling, cabbage, side of kimchi (3 pc - $8): https://tinyurl.com/4d7jyu7e Careful, it squirts! My fav item, the dumping was savory and juicy with rich beefy filling and a chewy wrapper. So juicy, it squirted into TT's face. Served with an acidic, mildly spicy kimchi. No need for a dipping sauce. * Spicy Cold Noodle Salad: Buckwheat noodles, gochujang, cucumber, Asian pear, Korean herbs ($13): https://tinyurl.com/2c82w2bt The flavors of the bibim naengmyeon were on point - spicy, tangy, and sweet with a freshness from the cucumber and herbs. The noodles could have been colder and chewier tho. * Mushroom Jook: Savory Korean rice porridge w/ dashi, scallions, fried garlic ($13): https://tinyurl.com/zb9rv8nh A hug in a bowl, the rice was nicely broken down creating a satisfying creamy texture. The soy seasoning and mushrooms added earthy umami flavor. During the soft opening, you had the option to add chicken. Hope they consider bringing that option back. * Eric's Gochuchang Caramel Cookie ($4): https://tinyurl.com/mwnna6fb Inspired by Eric Kim (NYT)'s recipe, the cookie is perfectly chewy with crispy, buttery edges. The caramel and gochujang duo creates swirls of savory sweet umami but the heat could have been kicked up a notch or two. S E R V I C E Polite and fast, once seated. A M B I A N C E Hip industrial community space spanning two levels and an open kitchen. Mix of high tops, regular tables, chef's counter, and lounge areas. Overall, SŌHN is a welcome addition to the city serving solid, flavorful Korean-American fare that's easy on the wallet. Hope peeps are mindful about staying for an extended amount of time (unless they're making sufficient purchases) so everyone can get a chance to visit SŌHN.

Yelp
I stopped by here to get some work done and to try this new cafe out since I saw it online. I ordered a banana oat milk matcha latte and the breakfast sandwich. Unfortunately, latte was overly sweet and had a banana laffy taffy flavor which made it taste artificial. I do wish they had options to change sweetness levels for drinks. I would be open to trying some of their other matcha drinks. The breakfast sandwich was good especially the steamed egg. The service was great and the staff were friendly. The staff were also very attentive with guests. This place has a modern but cozy feel to it as they are tables to do work at but also a couple couches for meeting up with friends. I wish I lived closer as I love the vibe of the place.

Yelp
Newly opened café and social space in Dogpatch. Just grand opened over the weekend. Today was their first weekday service. Highly recommend arriving at opening. I arrived right at 10am and there were already about 20 people in line ahead of me. Was able to get in on the first wave, but noticed that a line out of the door slowly formed once all of the seats were taken. Came by to enjoy some bites and drinks while working. Wifi is available and posted on the main counter. QR codes are placed on the tables so you can order and pay digitally and your order will be brought to you. - popcorn chicken - juicy pieces of chicken that come with rice cakes and a seaweed flavor. Pieces of chicken were very flavorful and I really liked the seaweed seasoning that was all over the dish. After I finished this dish, I noticed it had been about an hour and a half or so and I was still deep in work. The line was still going strong and I didn't want to be a laptop camper so I ordered some more items that I enjoyed for an additional hour and a half. - eric's gochujang caramel cookie - might be one of the best cookies I've recently had. Reminiscent of a snickerdoodle but a bit more savory. Very thing, yet big and chewy. - banana oat milk matcha - I love banana flavor so this was definitely a hit for me. Nicely layered with the matcha resting on top a creamy white base. Banana flavor is strong and legit so definitely for those that enjoy bananas. Next time I will try with hojicha. The space itself is large with both a ground floor and second floor. Second floor overlooks the ground floor for some cool views. Upbeat music sets the vibe.

Yelp
We came here on a Thursday morning right when they opened and it wasn't super crowded and parking was not very difficult to find. We were able to sit upstairs with a view of the entire cafe, which was really nice. We ordered the banana oat milk with matcha, matcha latte, gochujang cookie and the galbi patty. The galbi patty was really good but doesn't really taste like galbi to me. The gochujang cookie was also yummy and sweet! The banana oat milk matcha was my favorite!! The regular matcha latte was not sweet. We were there for about 2ish hours and we were able to get some work done and stay for the vibes. They also have a cute little retail section downstairs from MAUM SF! Thankfully we were able to come on a weekday to avoid the crowds and lines! Will def come back on another week day. :)

Yelp
The interior was beautifully designed, reminded me of cafes in new york. Happened to have some free time and was already in the area so got in line at 10:15 am. Waited roughly an hour for dine in. Got the banana matcha, personally wasn't a huge fan as it had a pretty strong banana laffy taffy flavor. The breakfast sandwich had a pretty one note flavor/texture.

Yelp
So excited to check out SF's newest korean cafe! The line was understandably very long on a Sunday afternoon but we stood in the takeout line which moved super quick. I got the melona matcha which was a good balance of melon flavor and matcha. Not too sweet! The matcha gets stronger as you drink it longer. Also tried my friend's banana oat milk matcha which was super banana forward -- almost like drinking a banana smoothie. Inside was super aesthetic and tons of seating on two floors. They have a cute gift shop inside as well. Everything inside feels intentional and very well-curated. The vibe right now is pretty busy and bustling so it's probably not a good spot to do work yet but I'd definitely come back when the hype has died down! The food smelled really good so I'd try that next time.

Yelp
As everyone else, I've been blasted with content surrounding Sohn and was hoping to give it some time so that the hype has died down in order to get the true experience without absurd wait times however such was not the case even as a solo diner. Reading ahead, I was aware that there are two separate lines-one for takeout and the other for in person dining. I saw a woman/reservationist calling out every so often and inquiring if anyone was a solo diner as I'm sure this was for the bar seats, which is fine, but really? It's 2025 and we're still operating like we're in the 90's? As I've seen with other establishments, making a reservation ahead online via Resy and getting to choose seating or even having an iPad and making a reservation in real time for a time slot would be a more efficient strategy for getting to experience Sohn; I'm not quite too sure if management is aware of these options or if the "strategy" is to make it seem like the line is long that there is a high demand, but this truly turned me off and gave off the impression that they don't have it together or are inconsiderate of others' time. As I was seated at the bar, I could already tell a lot could be changed- i) The QR code to scan the menu was at the person's table on my right and left, so I had to just yoink it from the person on my right since it was already evident that they were midway through their meal and engrossed by their laptop. Because of my seat and how I ordered from the menu's placing on the table next to me, the barista had trouble placing exactly whose my order was. Even then, they didn't inquire if I wanted/needed anything else or had questions-for a cafe that is still in its pre-infancy stage you still need to guide regulars/newbies as to the flow of an unfamiliar setting-the wifi is on this card, iced water is at the front, bathroom is at the back, etc. As time passed, someone new was seated on my left and inquired if there was wifi or hotspot-I'm not quite too sure if the wifi is being gatekept even though it's scattered across certain cards, but it struck me that everyone was walking around blindly-an uneasy feeling if I may say so. ii) Anyone and everyone who is a regular bar seater knows that under table hooks are greatly appreciated and considered the gold standard, which sadly was not the case when I brushed my hands under the table. Could be an afterthought, but it honestly felt like a design flaw/miss of a big/small picture view. iii) The order online feature through Toast is very minimal and could be refined-there isn't an ice level preference for drinks i.e. less ice, more ice, no ice but thankfully through the "Notes" section I was able to make it known that I'd like less ice and a straw accompanying it. Above all this, I was quite disappointed at the iced hojicha cream top latte I ordered-yes there isn't an upcharge for non dairy milk, however the milk on top of my drink was and is not a cream top so it honestly tasted like a regular hojicha latte. As mentioned on their website, Sohn's name itself is derived from the Korean word for "hand" (손), which speaks to the concept's ethos: "many hands, made for all" however my lasting impression of my experience was rather 경솔한. As I departed from Sohn and it was reaching their last call of 2:30PM, I was curious if the people in line knew the probability or chance they were not going to get seated or were going to be met with surprise of only being able to order drinks and not also food.

Yelp
Sohn is a Korean cafe that just opened in Dogpatch. The space feels incredibly cozy and warm with a clean Japandi-inspired vibe. It's spacious, with both upstairs and downstairs seating, including lounge-style corners with comfy sofas and chairs that make you want to settle in for hours. Ordering is super easy, everything is done at the table via QR code for both dine-in and to-go. I tried their signature cream top matcha and hojicha, and both were fantastic. The menu leans toward Korean-inspired bites like gyeran bap, mandu, and even a galbi melt that's all perfect pairings with their drinks and pastries. If you're wondering...yes, they have WiFi! And plenty of seating, and great K-pop playing in the background, making it a perfect spot to work, chill, or catch up with friends. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Amazing cafe and awesome interior! There are two floors to this cafe and it reminds me of the cafes in Korea! The drink options are also good and there are different milk options too! Service is great since you simply just find a seat, scan the QR code to order&pay, and a server comes to you with the orders. I would highly recommend coming before opening though since there are long lines for dine in and take out.

Yelp
TLDR: Sohn checks almost every box and, in my opinion, transforms what it means to be a cafe in the Bay Area. As a frequent cafe-goer who tends to stay awhile, here are my necessities/nice-to-haves: - Coffee/non-coffee options - Wifi/outlets - Savory/non-savory food - Single/double/large-group seating - Flexible ambiance - A restroom Sohn has a food and drink menu with depth and variety - it's hard to pick exactly what you want, but what's nice is that it's not strictly coffee or sweet food. If you stay long, you're able to enjoy items that don't feel like "just a snack." For those of us who need a charge, there are outlets (2 plugs each) placed between almost every table! I checked for wifi (wi-fi) but there did not seem to be a network, can update if there is one, so hotspotting will be a necessity. Seating at Sohn consists of double, 4-person, and large-group options. The majority of seating is on the second floor, so accessibility may be difficult for some; however, there is some seating on the ground floor as well. Ambiance-wise, it is a minimalistic/clean environment with high-ceilings and a generally open-concept design. Art is hung throughout the cafe and a MAUM shop (1st in SF as I understand) that features Korean-American products/artists. The cafe also has a great balance between natural light and artificial, yet warm, lanterns. Additionally, there are a couple of spaces where people can sit on couches to chat with friends! For service, you will order on a self-serve kiosk in the future, but for the grand opening, we ordered through a QR code at our table (unsure if this will continue in the future). Your QR code is designated to a table # which is how the employees know what you ordered. Everyone was kind and service was quick! I arrived early for their grand opening and was delighted to be one of their first customers! I ordered the following: Galbi Patty Melt: A tasty galbi meat patty paired with coleslaw, and spicy mayo (?) all sandwiched between two well-structured croissants and topped with regular/black sesame seeds. Flavor was abundant but not overpowering - I was able to enjoy every aspect of this sandwich equally! More importantly, it did not break apart in my hands and held its form throughout eating it. I'd get this again - it was delicious! Melona Matcha Latte: It's exactly what it says it is! A melona-forward drink with matcha subtly offsetting its sweetness. If you like melona, you will definitely enjoy this. To tie it altogether, I think Sohn excels at being a cafe - a menu with what I can only describe as "real" food, great tasting drinks, a dynamic atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, and the ability to be more than just a grab-and-go space. Whether you are catching up with a friend or working for an extended period of time, you can do both at Sohn while sustaining a comfortable experience - Sohn is a great example of what cafe culture can be!

Yelp
Sohn is a picture perfect café! The interior was warm, relaxing and comfortable. We tried the melon matcha latte during their soft opening and it was a great drink! I was worried it would be overpoweringly sweet (as it is inspired by the Melona bars), but it was a great balance of melon and matcha bitterness. I am looking forward to the next opportunity I have to spend some time in the café space - it would be ideal to get some work done. Also, all the Maum goods are so cute (albeit very expensive - $68 for a planner is a lot).

Yelp
Cream top matcha latte was perfect with the cream top being a little sweet and the latte itself having no sweetness. It struck a great balance. We also got the Breakfast Sandwich and Popcorn chicken which were very mediocre and too salty in my opinion. The location in the middle of the dogpatch was awesome and the vibes inside were immaculate. They seemed a bit understaffed but it could've just been a bit too busy. I would come again and get the Cream Top Matcha Latte for take out.

Yelp
What a cute Korean cafe! We came a week after Sohn newly opened, so the line went all the way down 3rd Street. We waited about 30-45 minutes before we were let inside. Honestly, it was worth the wait, because the interior was gorgeous! The drink menu centers around really high-quality espresso, matcha, and hojicha drinks. Two that stood out to me the most were the banana oat milk latte and seasonal melona(!) matcha latte. I got an iced hojicha latte with almond milk (alt. milks here are free of charge!) and also got to try a bit of my boyfriend's banana oat milk latte with espresso. Both drinks tasted so delicious! The banana oat milk latte was very sweet and very banana-forward - in a good way! We ended up not ordering any food to try, but perhaps next time we will come back to Sohn for lunch!

Yelp
Modern cafe with Korean-inspired drinks located in the Dogpatch. Came on a Friday afternoon and waited about 30 minutes for a to-go order; if you plan to dine in, be prepared to wait longer. I ordered the banana matcha latte with less sweetness, which was tasty but not strong enough in matcha flavor, the banana matcha was unique and something I would definitely order again. The popcorn chicken was juicy and tender, and it was interesting paired with fried rice cake. Since the place is still new and hyped, I don't think it's the best spot to study. Parking can be tricky, but I'm glad a trendy spot like this opened in the Dogpatch.

Yelp
A week ago, I kicked off my 10th anniversary at the most aesthetic spot! Make sure to arrive early-- even on a Wednesday there was already a line. We waited about 30 minutes. Just a heads-up: parking in this area can be tough any day of the week since it's busy with workers, and of course even more so on weekends. While waiting, a friend and I popped into MAUM (their first SF store) to check it out. They carry a fun mix of Korean and American products and art, which made the wait more enjoyable. Once it was our turn, we got seated in our chosen area and ordered through a QR code-- super easy, and the food came right to us. We really enjoyed most of the dishes: * Jook: Honestly, I usually don't order this because I'm so used to my mom's, but theirs blew me away-- super flavorful and a generous portion. * Galbi Patty Melt: Packed with ingredients and really tasty. * Breakfast Sandwich: On the salty side for me. * Popcorn Chicken with Fried Rice Cake: Crispy, juicy, and such a fun combo. * Cold Noodles: Refreshing and light-- perfect balance. The drinks were all delicious! I loved the Melona + Matcha combo-- especially with their signature cream top (definitely ask for it!). Huge plus: they don't charge extra for oat milk. Overall, such a great experience. Can't wait to come back (hopefully when the line's shorter) and try even more food and drinks! what we ordered: +popcorn chicken +umma's jook +gyeran jjim (sohn breakfast sandwich) +galbi patty melt +spicy cold noodle salad +eric's gochujang caramel cookie +melona matcha latte w/ signature cream top +matcha signature cream top +melona soda

Yelp
Grand opening weekend at Sohn! My friend and I had about a 45 minute wait before getting seated at noon. Loved how spacious it is and the design aesthetic is great! Food was delicious! I really enjoyed the popcorn chicken, and the Galbi patty melt! Our drinks arrived last, well after we received all of our dishes. But we figured there will be some things that will need to be worked out over time. Would love to come back and try the jook next time, as it was sold out!

Yelp
The hottest new Korean cafe did not disappoint. The high ceilings, the two floor space, and the homey yet elevated decor instantly make this cafe a standout. They have a solid selection of food and drink options on the menu and everything looks worth trying at least once. My fiancé and I visited on a Friday @ noon and the wait took about 30 mins for a table. Once going inside, I felt I was teleported into the Korean cafe scenes of Seoul but with SF influences. Vibes were immaculate and food & drinks were tasty. The service was quick and staff was friendly. It's a must visit cafe & social space esp for big groups.

Yelp
Came to visit Sohn a week after its Grand Opening. It's a good thing my friend planned to come at 945, a line was already starting even before they opened. We were 3rd in line and our first time did not disappoint! We were warmly welcomed by the chef and the staff. I've known/heard of the chef from other projects and was looking forward to the menu. The cafe ambiance was very roomy, minimalist and the art/decor matched the menu in that though simple- it brought out the best of Korean art and food. I've been to other Korean fusion cafes/restaurants where the dishes were aesthetically pleasing but lacked the identity. This was not the case at Sohn! We ordered the following- -Cream top espresso (would order this everyday!) -Banana Oat Matcha Latte (would order this if you want a dessert type drink, sweet but not overly sweet) Banana Espresso Matcha Latte (great balance of strong espresso and sweet banana) Melona Matcha Latte (surprisingly refreshing matcha, just the right amount of sweet!) Butter Mandu- juicy and delicious! The pickled cabbages balances out the richness of the beef. Galbi Patty Melt- everything just tasted so great together! Mushroom Jook- my senior dad enjoyed and appreciated this simple vegetarian flavorful dish Popcorn chicken- not your average popcorn chicken, juicy not overly breaded and mixed in with light fluffy slightly crispy on the outside rice cakes! The drinks were enjoyable and not overly sweet and the savory dishes were a perfect balance of comfort food with familiar touch of korean flavors. They had vegetarian, gf options as well! Street parking might be a little challenging. The space is very clean and inviting with lots of tables and chairs to do some devos, work or catch up with friends! The minimalist decors and featured merchandise from Korean American artists and small businesses were thoughtfully curated. Its an unpretentious comfortable space that would make you want to keep coming back for more! Wishing the cafe continued success and looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Food and Drink- 3.5/5: - Breakfast Sandwich was great. Egg was super thick and rich and sandwiched between two buttery and flakey croissants. I'd get this again - Mayak Gyeran Rice Bowl sounded and looked great from pictures but I think I got a half constructed bowl. My bowl/take out box looked more like a salad and didn't come with a soft poached egg. It was also seasoned super heavily with rice vinegar and just tasted like I was eating some overly vinegary rice and veggies. Perhaps someone just forgot to finish it. - Matcha cream top drink was very good! The cream added just the right amount of creaminess and the matcha was balanced - Gochujang caramel cookie was very big and had strong caramel flavor with a subtle kick of Gochujang at the end. Loved the texture too Ambiance - 5/5: Given that it was opening weekend, I think the staff did a good job with crowd control. All the tables were full but the space still felt very open and bright. It's definitely a spot I'll come back to once the initial hype dies down. I came a bit before 10:30am and still waited in line for an hour. By 11am, the line was around the block.

Yelp
I was super excited to check out this lovely space in Dogpatch. The interior of this new cafe was stunning- had lots of cute seating and free wifi. But I was left disappointed in the food and drinks. Maybe overhyped from social media? Their signature banana oat latte tasted like it was made from old bananas because it left an alcohol after taste. I let one of the servers know and she kindly replaced the drink with my choice of the cream top latte- unfortunately I wasn't wowed either! The cream top just melted into my drink, not thick enough. The yuja perilla espresso tonic lacked the flavor it promised- just tasted like a regular espresso tonic. For the food, I got the kalbi Jim croissant sandwich- although tasty I couldn't find the sweetness from a traditional kalbi Jim in the patty. Tasted like a really good burger tho, I loved the kimchi slaw. The gochujang cookie also fell flat in gochujang flavor but was a great sugar cookie- crunchy crust and chewy inside. I really wanted to like this place and I do love the cafe interior, but sadly let down by the food and drinks.

Yelp
Visited Sohn during their soft opening and it's already one of my favorite new spots in SF. The space has such a calm, airy vibe with beautiful design touches that make you want to linger. The drinks are incredible. the banana oat milk matcha is a must-try, and their cream tops are rich and perfectly balanced. The pastries are gorgeous and taste just as good as they look (highly recommend the strawberry toast!). Feels like a true neighborhood gem, and I can see this quickly becoming a San Francisco staple. Excited to come back and try more. Sohn!!! SF's newest cafe worth the hype

Yelp
Ambiance is everything. Very spacey and cozy atmosphere. Food was ok, but I love their drink - banana oat latter with matcha, very smooth!

Yelp
A few quick thoughts: Galbi Patty Melt - 8.8/10 Croissant bun + sauces + grilled onion = Burger was a little overcooked, and the kimchi wasn't pungent/fermented enough. Mayak Gyeran Rice Bowl - 8.2/10 Comforting bowl with great leafy greens Rice leaned a little wet, and while tasty, it didn't quite top a classic bibimbap. Yuja Perilla Espresso Tonic - 7.5/10 Refreshing citrus + perilla leaf gave it a unique twist If you're into sparkling Americanos, you'd love this--though I'd probably enjoy it even more as a sparkling juice without the coffee. Final thoughts: 8.5/10 overall. Sohn serves up top-class food with a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes it easy to study, hang out, or just slow down with good company. Definitely planning to be back soon.

Yelp
This matcha is the PERFECT balance. Not too earth or bitter but not too creamy either. It's very well balanced. Highly recommend if you like matcha flavor and not sweet flavor.

Jay G.

Yelp
Galbi Patty Melt is straight fire, and i dig the the melon in the matcha latte, it makes it easier to handle matcha if you're not performative or used to it. Ambiance wise it has a minimalist design while still being very unique. Off-white walls make it feel warm. No loud music so it's cool to just lock in on your work here. This place is right next to Dogpatch Boulders which goes crazy not gonna lie. Glad to see 3rd Street boomin. Staff is chill and handle their grand opening busyness well.

Yelp
TLDR Sohn is an absolute gem. We went for the grand opening this morning and had an amazing experience. The food, drinks, staff, and ambiance are all wonderful. For starters, the food and drink were both excellent. For food, we ordered the popcorn chicken, mushroom jook, and galbi patty melt and would recommend all 3. The popcorn chicken was perfectly crispy, had an incredible seaweed seasoning, and was paired with fried tteok which was actually even better than the chicken. The mushroom jook was so flavorful without being overly seasoned, and we loved just how much flavor the fried garlic added. The galbi patty melt had a perfect patty and croissant "bun" that was balanced out really well by the kimchi slaw. For drink, we ordered the vanilla bean latte and banana oat milk hojicha latte. Both drinks were amazing and you could easily taste the richness in the house made vanilla bean syrup and banana oat milk. Moreover, the aspects of Sohn that we felt were even more special were the ambiance and the people. We were lucky enough to get seats at the counter and were able to get a great view of everything around us. The design of the space is incredibly well thought out. The layout, artwork, and furniture give it an incredibly welcoming feel. And we were particularly impressed by how smooth and relaxed the operation was, especially for a grand opening. No chaos and tension - the Sohn team were so friendly and unrushed with both patrons and each other. That made a big difference in contributing to the overall experience. Janet is also wonderful and we very much appreciate her taking the time to chat with us! Super excited to have this place in Dogpatch and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Incredible - we got there early and were sat quickly. The matcha drinks are delicious and the popcorn chicken and rice puffs are out of this world. Def will be back. Great place for breakfast, lunch, and to have coffee with friends.

Yelp
i went around 2:45 on a sunday and only got to try their coffee because the kitchen closed, so i'm definitely planning on making another visit sometime in the future to try the food! i ordered the banana espresso and it was really good :)

Yelp
So we should've known better than to try coming here opening weekend. After seeing what looked like a two hour long line, gave up and walked over to nearby Wooly Pig (which actually has some similar dishes), But tried again for a weekday lunch and line was much more reasonable. Got the jook and the mandu. Both were great! Banana milk latte was solid too (Boba Guy's might be better?) Overall, this is a great addition to the developing neighborhood and I'm glad someone moved into the old bagel shop, which is a pretty cool venue. Will come again.

Yelp
We're so thrilled Sohn is finally opening in the Dogpatch!! The space is beautiful, warm, and welcoming with a lot of seating options and tons of natural light. The menu has a variety of choices depending on what you're craving. We tried the patty melt, jook, rice bowl, and breakfast sandwich -- all delicious, perfectly accompanied by the hojicha banana oat milk latte and espresso latte with cream topper. There are also sweet options if you prefer that over savory. Sohn is perfect for a quick solo meal or a sit down with a group of loved ones. Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
My only complaint is that they are so good, things sell out! Gotta come earlier next time to try the cold noodles, more drinks, and shop the store. Love this place down in dogpatch!

Liz V.

Yelp
Cool place, but not enough tables. With the amount of people coming in it's disappointing not to be able to sit anywhere. People are just hanging out on their computer even though they are finished eating. I suggest more chairs.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of making it to Sohn during their first week of operation. I rarely spend time in the dog patch, but I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to find parking on a Sunday. The space itself is gorgeous. High ceilings and lots of light. I walked right up to the counter and got some recommendations from the person behind the register. My partner and I ordered a Matcha latte with sweet cream, a strawberry ricotta toast, and the mayak gyeran rice. Food came out in 10-15 minutes. Everything we tasted was incredible. We met friends there and tried their avocado toast and a bit of their breakfast sandwich. The food was visually stunning and very flavorful and fresh. We enjoyed every single thing. Pricing for food and drinks was incredibly reasonable for SF. I expected it to be more expensive based on the decor and presentation. The decor is lovely as well- plants and art everywhere with modern furniture, lighting and plenty of open space. Staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and very friendly. We enjoyed our visit to Sohn and will most definitely be back!

Yelp
I'm always happy to see new businesses open in the city. This place is very exciting and vibrant. Good coffee drinks and sandwiches and super airy and lite space. Will be back to try other items on the menu and update my review.
