"Positioned in the tremendous former Daily Driver space at 2535 3rd Street, this community‑minded project from chef Deuki Hong and managing partner Janet Lee is designed as a launch pad for events and art as much as a place for Hong’s immaculate food and thoughtful drinks. The name is a derivative of the Korean word for hand, underscoring their insistence that the space is a product of many hands and a showcase for Korean makers in California and beyond. On the menu: Korean barbecue done up as a patty melt, warming bowls of jook, a fermentation lab for kimchi and other goods, and even popcorn chicken carried over from Hong’s late Sunday Bird. Drinks run from matcha by big‑hitter Kettl to coffee from Los Angeles’s Be Bright, plus a daily Melona soda homage. The 8,000‑square‑foot, hushed, lo‑fi‑looking room—interior designer Cathie Hong’s first commercial project—adds a 12‑seat bar and retail from some 30 Korean makers selling blankets, candle makers, and ceramic critters, while artist workshops, collab dinners, pop‑ups, and cooking classes are already in the plans; the first art partner is the Korean American Art Collective, with featured art selling at 100 percent proceeds going to the artists.
