Yelp
First time trying this new Chinese spot in Bed Stuy specializing in soup dumplings! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes, considering it's the only restaurant of its kind in the area.
The space is small, with only about 4-5 tables in total. It occupies the space of a former Dunkin Donuts, which moved a few doors down the block. I was very impressed with the decor, with several different murals on the walls. I appreciated the presence of an air hockey table, as well as a handwashing station near the register.
The space is clean, with the kitchen towards the back and a counter towards the front. The restaurant offers table service, and my server was extremely professional and went above and beyond considering the small, causal operation. I didn't catch his name, but he was great at explaining the menu (asking if I'm familiar with Chinese cuisine) and alerting me to potential allergens in the dishes I ordered (peanuts, soy, etc.).
I ordered the pork soup dumplings from the supplemental menu, as well as the Dan Dan Noodles with Veggies from the regular menu. Both dishes were very good!
The soup dumplings were extremely fresh, and had a good amount of soup broth. While the broth wasn't the most flavorful compared to what I've had in other places in NYC, I still really enjoyed the dish.
The Dan Dan noodles were very flavorful, and generously portioned with lots of veggies. I enjoyed the spiciness of the dish as well as the crunch from the peanuts.
Pricing is reasonable as well. Most of the soup dumpling options start around $10 for 6 dumplings. In total, I paid $30 for my two dishes after tax and tip, and received a free cup of chilled jasmine tea with my soup dumpling order.
One thing to note about dining indoors: there didn't appear to be a restroom available for customers.
All in all, I'll definitely return when I'm in the area again! Great food and service, with a convenient location right next to the Nostrand Avenue A/C station and B44 bus on Fulton Street.
