Where to Find Mexican Specialties in Denver | Eater Denver

"Chef and cookbook author Deborah Schneider has devoted much of her career to exploring the cuisine of the Baja California peninsula, abundant in seafood and laced with Mediterranean influences from up the coast. If the Cherry Creek outpost of SOL Mexican Cocina is rather posh by the standards of Taco Tuesday habitués, they can rest assured that that’s not out of keeping with the dining scene in the region itself as they dig into shellfish dishes galore and Ensenada-style taco platters — washed down with wine from the Valle de Guadalupe." - Ruth Tobias

Sol Mexican Cocina in Cherry Creek is such an underrated spot. The food is inspired by Baja California and puts a really fresh, coastal spin on Mexican classics—and it works so well. I tried the grilled sweet corn (loaded with flavor), almond-lemon crusted fish over esquites, warmed goat cheese with chipotle syrup, the TJ Caesar salad, and wagyu steak with chimichurri. Every single dish was excellent. Service was friendly, the space is stylish but relaxed, and the overall experience was fantastic. If it’s been a while since your last visit, this is your sign to go back!

SOL Mexican Cantina in Cherry Creek is such a fun spot! We had a good experience from start to finish. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful, and the guac was lovely—just the right balance of creamy and tangy. The freshly made veggie chips were the real standout, though—so unique and delicious. We also loved the full fried tortilla served with our guac and chips; it was such a fun and tasty touch. Everything needed a dash more flavor, but the presentation made up for anything missing. Our server was incredible—super knowledgeable and friendly. We even let her pick our drinks for us, and she absolutely nailed it. Every cocktail she chose was spot-on and paired perfectly with our food. She even brought salsas that she thought would pair well with our items. The ambiance was great too. We sat in the indoor/outdoor bar area, and the breeze from outside added such a nice, relaxing vibe to the meal. Overall, SOL Mexican Cantina delivered on all fronts—amazing food, great drinks, and a perfect atmosphere. It’s definitely a spot we’ll come back to!

So delicious! Street corn and guacamole were phenomenal. Chile shrimp and the short rib tacos were delicious! As was the goat cheese enchilada. Duck taco was unique and good. Lizbeth was a great server ☺️

Google
We went because I saw this restaurant listed on the “Restaurant Week” and I have no regrets! The staff was welcoming, the ambiance was romantic, and we appreciated the manager stopping by and asking how things were going. The waiter seemed busy, we went through our water and had to ask another waiter for a refill. We loved the tostadas; the best salsa we have ever had, and the black bean dip was delicious! Even tried to guess what chiles they used, but the manager was kind enough to share which ones they used! Thanks to the “bus boy” for being attentive and friendly, he gave us a to-go salsa. Across the board, the food was satisfactory, except for the rice (dry and some pieces were hard) and the Carnitas. My husband did not approve; they were salty and merely “boiled pork.”Granted, he makes some killer carnitas from Michoacan, Mexico.

Google
SOL is a fantastic high end Mexican restaurant. It's a perfect place to take your significant other on a date night. The staff was very friendly and attentive and answered our questions on the menu. They seemed well organized and attentive. The food was also delicious. I lived everything we ordered. And I love all the margarita options they had on the menu. The guacamole appetizer was fantastic and I highly recommend it. This place has a very lively ambiance with modern and stylish decor. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for date night or high end Mexican cuisine with friendly staff.

Google
Very good food spot! On the pricier side, but you get what you pay for. The frozen mango marg was really good and the homemade tortilla chips were crispy!!

Google
The lady that was our server was great. She's the living example of good customer service. Apologies for not remembering her name! I'm awful with names. Food, to be honest, was good but not that great, not for the prices. Orange rice could use less spices ( not sure if it was curcuma or turmeric.. both of which are not usually used in mexican arroz), but it was good. They do have great salsas and a nice environment. Highly recommend goat cheese enchiladas. Also, their desserts are delicious.

Google
This was my second time visiting Sol Cantina, and the service truly exceeded expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and well cared for. Our server Shane went above and beyond to ensure every member of my family felt comfortable and valued. His recommendations were spot on, enhancing the entire dining experience. Even though it was clear the restaurant was busy, he never rushed us and somehow made us feel like we were the only table that mattered. The level of attentiveness and professionalism made our evening memorable

Yelp
SOL is amazing. If you're looking for excellent food and a great atmosphere this is your stop. Thomas is amazing and the new management is phenomenal! This is my go to in Cherry creek!!!

Yelp
Sol Mexican Cocina is seriously underrated. I had dinner here recently and was blown away by both the food and the service. The menu is inspired by Baja California and offers a coastal Mexican twist that really works: fresh ingredients, thoughtful flavor combos, and beautiful presentation. Here are the standout dishes I tried: Grilled Sweet Corn - Smoky, buttery, tangy, and topped with cotija and a chipotle drizzle. Could eat this every day. Wild Fish on Esquites - Almond-lemon crusted fish over grilled corn esquites with tomato, lime, avocado butter... absolutely packed with flavor. Warmed Goat Cheese - Sweet, salty, creamy perfection with peanuts and chipotle syrup. TJ Caesar - A fun twist on a Caesar with avocado, olives, crunchy garlic toasts, and a great house-made dressing. Grilled Wagyu Steak - Tender, flavorful, and served with tomatillo salsa and cilantro chimichurri. The space is relaxed but stylish, and the staff was incredibly warm and helpful. Whether you're looking for a chill dinner spot, a place to impress out-of-towners, or just some well-executed coastal Mexican food, Sol Mexican Cocina is a win. If it's been a while since you last stopped by, go back. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
We had such a great experience at Sol Cantina, and it was all thanks to our server, Shane. From the moment we sat down, Shane made us feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of. His attention to detail and deep knowledge of the menu really elevated our night. He encouraged us to try the cucumber jalapeño margarita, and WOW -- it's officially my new favorite margarita ever. Refreshing with just the right amount of kick! We shared the steak fajitas which was more than enough food for the both of us. Shane's positive energy and thoughtful recommendations made our evening unforgettable. If you're heading to Sol Cantina, definitely ask for Shane, you won't regret it!

Yelp
Our mid afternoon arrival put us in the perfect position to enjoy the sunshine and street view without getting too hot. Our waiter was fantastic with just the right amount of serving. We never had to look around for him. Water and chips with salsa arrived quickly while we were still looking over the menu. With specialty tacos on the menu, it was hard to decide. We ended up with carnitas taco plate, a fish taco, and the sweet potato taco. Then we split the beet and watermelon salad while waiting for the tacos to come out. The salad was pretty good upon first bite but actually improved on the plate after 10 minutes sitting in the juices. Spectacular. The tacos hit the spot too. Lots of flavor and filled just enough that you have to work at not being too messy. We thought we were done but our waiter asked if we wanted a churro. Had we walked out never eating the churro, the dining experience would have been good. Fantastic even. But the churro! It was the cherry on top of the trip to Denver and wont be soon forgotten.

Yelp
Thomas J was amazing -- service was amazing and he was so attentive. Will come back again - put me in Tommi's section when I'm back!

Yelp
My family and I were in Cherry Creek to stop and get a late lunch, while looking for a place to eat, SOL Mexican Cocina was one of the restaurants that had an opening for us. Upon arriving at Sol, we were greeted and seated immediately. This restaurant has such a cute vibe and decor, and the music was at the perfect level allowing for an ambient noise in the background, while allowing for us to hear the table convos. Our server was really great and attentive, and made sure we immediately had our drinks and chips, salsa, and bean dip. It was a pleasant surprise while we looked through the menu and decided on what we would order. Upon deciding, I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas and the esquites as a side and they both were cooked and seasoned to perfection. There's a lot of really great options for drinks, appetizers and main courses to choose from, we will definitely come back again to try out other menu items.

Yelp
Two nights in a row they forgot the tortillas. First night, I excused the mistake. Second night, not cool on an expensive order.

Yelp
Service was awesome food was so good. Would totally recommend. Kitchen manager stopped at our table. GM Jessica was so welcoming.

Yelp
Our experience at Sol tonight was terrible. To start, the table we were seated at was uneven and kept sliding around causing drinks to spill. The chips, salsa and bean dip were all good and served warm which we enjoyed. The service was incredibly slow. We went a solid half hour without water while waiting close to an hour for our food. When the food arrived, all four of us had issues with our dishes. My mom ordered the "large" mushroom taco. The larger specialty tacos are served a la carte, meaning you get one taco and no sides. The prices range from $11-$23 each. The only thing larger about these is the size of the tortilla. The amount of filling inside the taco looked like the size of a small street taco. I ordered the shrimp fajitas. They were served with just two chewy, dry tortillas. The shrimp has good flavor, but everything else was bland. My brother ordered a carnitas burrito that had a lot of fatty chunks of meat. The worst dish of all was my step dad's carnitas quesadilla. The filling was almost nonexistant. Hardly any meat or cheese in every piece. We couldnt believe our eyes. It was truly pathetic. What made the experience slightly better in the end was the AGM Andre. He came to check on us to see if we needed anything twice throughout the night, when our waiter never did. The second time he came by, my step dad shared his disappointment about his quesadilla. Andre immediately made it right. He was super kind and apologetic and was just provided exceptional customer service. Overall we will definitely not be returning to Sol, but we are appreciative to Andre for his care and concern.

Yelp
Came here on New Year's Day for a nice dinner out and the overall experience was decent. Our waiter was attentive and helpful but in general, the food was very mediocre for the very high price point. My one fish taco was $12 which should be a crime. It was good but definitely not worth that price. Save your money and go somewhere else in the area for a high quality dinner.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
It is difficult to assign a positive recommendation to this restaurant. The prices solicit an upscale presentation, but the disorganized service and incredibly long wait times, coupled with food that is unseasoned, lukewarm to cold, poorly cooked, lacking texture, and of ambiguous quality of ingredients, leaves one with nothing other than feelings of passive disappointment. While edible and slightly varied in menu options, nothing is particularly different or unique either to offset for the mediocrity of execution. Parking is sparse and tedious but not unforgivingly so, given the area. Whether you make a reservation or not, be prepared for people who walk in to be seated and served before you; and for your seating time, drinks, and silverware to be variable in fulfillment time.

Yelp
Sol Mexican has a great vibe and super friendly staff. We were seated quickly, which was awesome, but the apps and food took a while to arrive. The queso was amazing--definitely the highlight! However, the Chipotle shrimp burrito was mostly beans (95% literally) with barely any shrimp and it lacked seasoning. It looked good and the presentation was solid but the flavor just wasn't there. May give them another shot and just avoid the burritos next time!

Yelp
TLDR disappointing food for their prices Menu specifically says "individual large tacos" but that's a straight-up lie. It's a single regular-sized taco. Grilled octopus tasted good, but the tissue wasn't trimmed properly, so it was slimy and unpleasant to eat. Bread pudding was actually delicious, but needs a larger scoop of ice cream, and there was also some ingredient in a few bites that was tough to chew. Idk if it was the banana or what, but def didn't like that. Corn appetizer tasted great, but it was on the cob. I like cobs, but only if I'm at a neighborhood bbq or something; not a restaurant. It's a pain to eat, gets stuck in your teeth, and is just a bad experience. Would much prefer kernels with the sauce and shredded cheese and stuff. Drinks were good, so there's that. Waiter was also chill and attentive. Entrance isn't obvious. Just a wooden door. Was walking around for a good minute in the rain tryna figure out how to get in.

Yelp
Alright so my wife and I are on whole 30! Final days on the reset and of course we decide to go out to eat with some family (why would we do this), I get here and immediately my mouth begins to water. The idea of a margarita with chips and salsa is simply to die for at this point, but I must say the food, and the service are worth the visit

Guadalupe R.

Yelp
Emiliano was our server and he was very welcoming, helpful, and made the experience even better. The food was great, the drinks were on point, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was solid. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
In town for business/leisure and stopped into Sol twice for dinner. My husband and I have been to the Scottsdale Az location many times. Their menu here in Denver seems much larger and explorative when it comes to flavors and combinations. There was live music playing both nights and a packed house on Friday but more chill on Saturday. Both nights we were able to be seated right away but we like sitting at the bar. We sat at the high top bar and enjoyed some specialty margaritas. There are some lower tables in the area and a cute fireplace. Our bartenders were cool AF and we really enjoyed conversing with them. Dinner was great both nights. I had the shrimp relleno the second night and the grilled Spanish octopus the first night. We also had the shrimp taquitos and the filet/shrimp "el jefe" tacos. We will definitely be back to visit this location when back in Denver! Don't forget to check in, there might be reward awaiting you. Peace

Theresa C.

Yelp
Ximena made sure we had the experience of the lifetime! Everything she recommended was delicious and we loved the vibe, can't recommend her/this place enough.

Yelp
I have been here a few times but our most recent visit here with a few friends was disappointing. We were a group of 6 with a toddler and when we entered and asked for a table the host told us the wait would be around 45 mins which we thought is ridiculous because we saw so many empty tables. We then told her we would wait and she then mentioned it would be a 15 min wait as she did not want to overwhelm the servers. With in a couple mins she told us our table is ready.. I don't understand if she did not want to give us a table or what! When we got the table, we expected slow service because of the previous comment about overwhelming servers.. we ordered a bunch of things along with table side guac to which we were told they were out of guac. We ended up ordering mushroom queso for the table.. the servers came back to with an order of guac.. there was so much confusion with the food orders. I really did like the CDMX taco and the agave shrimp taco but after so much confusion it was frustrating. I've had better experience at this restaurant every time I've been here and was just disappointed at how the service was last night.

Yelp
I had a great time with a friend at the SOL Mexican! We sat at the bar top since it was a busy Saturday night. The bartenders were very friendly & quick! The food was amazing with complimentary chips & salsa was a good surprise! The drinks, food, & atmosphere made it such a fun night with a friend!
google avatar

Yelp
Really average, both food and service. I had ceviche which was nothing special, and the tres leches dessert had absolutely no flavor.

Yelp
Pooped in with my partner and we had so much fun! The drinks were incredible, food was delicious, and service was outstanding. We will certainly be back.

Yelp
It had been a while since we had been to Sol, At least since before Covid. Typically we go to La Loma for Mexican food, but SOL is closer so tonight I suggested we try it again. Huge mistake. Our waitress was friendly, but that was the only positive thing I can say. Our $14 guacamole was the size of a small scoop of ice cream and our dinner took over an hour to get to our table. I ordered the beer-battered shrimp taco ($11) was 2.5 pieces of small shrimp with iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes and onion and sour cream this dish comes with what they call one large taco and no sides. My son and husband ordered shrimp and chicken fajitas which came out cold and not with your typical sides. The best looking dish of the night was my younger son's kids chicken tenders, but still disappointing that a kids meal doesn't come with any side. The manager did come by at one point to apologize for how long the food was taking, but did nothing to try to rectify the situation. I received the bill at full price. Which was $110, add to that the Wendy's I had to purchase for my family after we left, my dinner at SOL cost me $150. We will not be returning.

Yelp
SOL was an amazing find... at first. I visited this place three times. Once for dinner and another 2 for brunch... the first time was for dinner and it was amazing. Our server was attentive and seemed so happy to serve us! The food was 10/10 and the food was so good! We couldn't wait to come back. This is the only reason it's not getting 1 star. We returned for brunch on a Sunday and it was lacking. The service was slower. The food was okay. It almost tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit. It was fine, but not horrible enough to deter me from coming back. We then returned again for brunch. We made reservations for 6. We were seated and waited about 20 minutes to get anyone to come over. I had to get up and go ask the host if he could please get us some assistance and cups of waters. He quickly brought us waters, then we got our waitress who seemed very frazzled. She explained our waiter called out so no one was in charge of our table. It was very strange that the restaurant didn't work this out in advance. We received our mimosas and food, after all ordering. The waitress came back to confirm a couple things that were previously confirmed. We also didn't get all of the items in our order initially. Overall, it was a bad experience that definitely had me questioning if I will ever come back for Sunday brunch. Very disappointed in how this place changed in my mind so quickly.

Yelp
While staying in Denver for work, I ate here for lunch and dinner almost every day. Food is A+. I had the steak fajitas, vampire taco, chicken tortilla soup, carnitas, barbacoa and the wagyu steak. Obviously not in one sitting :) everything was wonderful. Service is A+. The manager was beyond gracious as well as the bar staff. One evening I left my headphones in the restaurant. I came back later and the staff gave me a drink because they knew I had to come back for it. My fault, but amazing.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Sol Mexican Cocina for Denver Restaurant week and it was such a a great experience. Our server, Felicia, was AW-MAZING!! She was attentive, gracious and great with suggestions that did not disappoint! To start, the naked guacamole was so flavorful and the coconut calamari with spicy sauce was delicious! Our meal selections were chicken desmadres and the carna asada taco plate and both were mouth watering exceptional. Our dessert choices were the Blondie and Churros and were scrumptious. Every bit of our dining experience was just wonderful and we will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! Now I know why this place is always busy when I pass by. Their Baja California style food is exactly what I needed being land locked here in Colorado! We were seated right away even thought we were a bit early for our Saturday afternoon brunch reservation. We were provided a brunch menu but opted to order off the lunch/dinner menu. I got a house marg (my go to at Mexican style food establishments). It didn't disappoint - I ended up having a second one! We also receive chips and salsa and black beans when we sat down. All taco orders come with two of same but we wanted to try different tacos so we both got the Al a crate option. Which was perfect. These were full size tacos, none of those small three bite type street tacos. They were filling and we agreed we need to come back and try a few other tacos that sounds delicious! I did t give it 5 stars because would waiter wasn't great. I told him I wanted salt on my marg and it didn't have that. I said I wanted black beans and rice with my tacos and never got that. It's like he couldn't remember anything we said. Active listens and recall are keys to being a good waiter.
google avatar

Mai L.

Yelp
Fun restaurant! We made a reservation so we were able to get sat at the time we arrived - we did even get there about 15 minutes early. We were brought some chips and some dips (salsa and black bean dips). The chips were huge! We started with the chorizo & mushroom queso. It's was more of a fundido and OH SO good! I love the cooked cheese at the bottom that was stuck to the cast iron skillet it came in. It was also spicy since it had red pepper flakes all in it. It came with corn tortillas but we did ask for another basket of chips to eat it with. I ordered the fried fish tacos. The fish is cod and there was lots of it in the taco. I got spicy slaw and rice as my sides. Both basic but good. I'd say it's a good restaurant to definitely try.

Yelp
Delicious food. Outstanding carnitas. Tacos are inspired and unique. Great location and atmosphere. Staff are friendly and responsive.

Yelp
went in to sol for lunch with one of my girlfriends, place had a very nice atmosphere. Our server, Adam, was very welcoming and on everything. Suggested the shrimp chile reillano and it was amazing!!
google avatar

Robert F.

Yelp
I haven't been back to Sol for quite a few years, but two friends and I decided to give it another try. Speaking from the standpoint of a handicapped friend, the main door is so large and heavy that it is impossible for a person using a walker or wheelchair to open. It is very disappointing to find such a situation these days. The space is as pretty as ever and our server (Emily W) was efficient and quite charming. The presentation seemed a little less fussy than in the past and everything was delicious. My friends enjoyed their short rib tacos a lot. Sol serves a basket of whole tostadas instead of chips plus both salsa and a bean dip. These were great and very addictive. I ordered the Ensenada plate of fish tacos. It was very good except for the miniscule portion of seafood which was buried in a mountain of slaw. I would have enjoyed the dish much more with double the serving of fish. The bits of fish I did receive were very crispy and tasty, though. Street parking in North Cherry Creek gets more and more challenging; however, there is a parking ramp just south of the restaurant across Second Avenue and another ramp just north of the restaurant off Columbine Street. We all agreed it was a nice lunch.
google avatar

Marcus Y.

Yelp
Absolute best Saturday Brunch! Buenos Rancheros off the hook! If you can't get a Thomas J as your waiter then just wait! He's the best! Go Vols!!
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Suggested this spot for a casual dinner "date" - the restaurant's ambiance and impeccable service definitely outshined the cynical conspiracy topics brought up by the human across the table. He's a bit skeptical about most restaurants, so I gave myself an internal round of applause for introducing him to this gem in Cherry Creek - he loved it! Great prices, flavorful food (many options - from healthy to spicy and everywhere in between), wonderful drinks (try the frozé!!), and top-notch service (our meal was delivered promptly after we ordered...which worked out, as the table conversation was a bit dry to say the least lol). If you're reading this, Adam - I appreciate our friendship but I don't think we'll ever evolve beyond a platonic level. TLDR: Come here! You won't regret it!
google avatar

Christian B.

Yelp
Sol Cocina is in the heart of North Cherry Creek Shopping Center, so not very easy to find, but when I did The employees were friendly and efficient. I ordered a Tacos Vampiro and it was about the most amazing taco based dish I ever had both in visual presentation and in taste. Even the complimentary chips and dip were amazing. large, fresh and crispy and they were dusted with what tasted like a churro seasoning, the dips were a black bean paste with pepitas and the other was a spicy liquid based dip. The whole restaurant interior oozed with class and sophistication, Id like to come back to this place and try more of their menu offerings.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Good food but a little drab. Too much corn in a burrito for my taste. Nice dining room and outdoor seating. Ok tequila selection. Friendly service no issues there. Probably won't go back but not sorry I went in the first place.
google avatar

Dooley G.

Yelp
Okay, let's go through a few of the yummy things available: guacamole, yum; salsas, yum again; vegetarian options, yep; margaritas, always good, and staff, just the best. Bring some friends and enjoy.
google avatar

Karoline F.

Yelp
where to begin? food was very salty. more onion then chicken in the street tacos. taco shell disintegrated in my own hand. waitress was nice. do not come here in winter. extremely drafty. every time the door would open my da would count down the seconds until we were slammed by a cold blast.

Angela R.

Yelp
We had such a great time and wonderful service on Cinco de Mayo!! Enjoyed the Mariachi Band

Matt N.

Yelp
Our waitress Korina was excellent!! We will definitely be back. We had the fajitas and the quesadilla. Both good but quesadillas were a little better
google avatar

Malori H.

Yelp
We came here for a work lunch and had a reservation and we were seated promptly. Our server who was new was very sweet. There were a few things here and there that were forgotten but it was no big deal and she was def doing her best and was extremely kind. I ordered the short ribs which I thought lacked a lot of flavor. It was very tender but bland. The rice, beans, and sweet potatoes that came with it were all great. I do love how they start you off with salsa and some black bean dip. Seeing how the short ribs were $28 I probably won't be coming back here spending my own money. If work took me out here I'd give something else a try.
google avatar

Victoria L.

Yelp
Food was so good! Their menu is quite extensive and pretty unique. We had the coconut calamari and the goat cheese enchiladas, added carnitas. Both were very good, as well as their chips and salsa that they give each table. Our server was friendly and attentive. He made sure we were taken care of for the whole dinner. My complaints would be that it was pretty hot in the restaurant. In early July, it was warmer inside than outside. So it made it difficult to fill up on food. It's also more expensive than your average restaurant, but definitely better quality. So, you're paying for that. Other than those things, the experience was great. I would definitely go back and recommend!

Marion A.

Yelp
Emilio and Julio went the extra mile to serve us when we came in near closing time. Emilio took time to go many of the food items. Margaritas were superb, I loved the Goat cheese enchiladas, and the salsa was homemade, very delicious. I recommend SOL Mexican Cocina

Tara F.

Yelp
Food was sub par at best... I had high hopes, but the quality of ingredients was poor and reminded me of something from a mall's food court. The kids chicken quesadilla had giant chunks of chicken with the fat still attached and barely any cheese. My kids wouldn't even touch it. Fajitas didn't come with sour cream or cheese to put on them, the fish taco was drenched in some mayonnaise sauce, almost like a very cheap tuna salad. Sadly it was inedible and we ended up having to throw away 3/4's of our $100 meal. I gave them a few stars for presentation, otherwise would not recommend.

Paul S.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful, welcoming front of house and wait staff! In particular the waiters were terrific in making menu suggestions. The creativity. and presentation of the entrees and appetizers was particularly elegant and creative. My only quibble was that as Mexican cuisine goes, all of what we ordered struck me as quite bland, but I assume this is due to local tastes.
google avatar

Elaine T.

Yelp
Was here last night for dinner, our server dropped off waters for our table but we did not see him for 20 minutes after that. Food was very slow, I decided to take mine Togo. When I got home I realized they gave me the wrong order. For a Wednesday night, that was ridiculous.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Not your average or typical Mexican restaurant! Think higher scale, delish and fresh food, with amazing service! Thomas, our server, was phenomenal! Great recommendations, our drinks were never empty! The food was great and the margs are fresh and delicious. Love the vibe and ambiance of this place.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
A little disappointed how the kitchen or expo runners let this $11.00 taco leave the kitchen looking like this. Don't get me wrong, the taco was great, but do better SOL.

Max L.

Yelp
One of the strangest dining experiences I've ever had. My girlfriend is Gluten Free and they brought over a GF menu. The waiter then went on to tell us that the menu is actually a lie and this "Mexican" restaurant puts soy sauce in all of its meats. Really bizarre experience and will not be returning. The apps we did eat were bland, cold and dry.

Yelp
Drinks arrived 20 minutes after ordering, in a restaurant with few customers. chips and salsas were good. Grilled chicken burrito was filled with watery black beans in a tortilla that was limply folded around the contents. barely any chicken and tiny bits of cheese. Side option was more of the same beans and bland rice. Lukewarm and tasteless. Margarita was good although I was charged for adding a serrano chile to the mix. Not worth the $45

Yelp
Disappointing experience at Sol tonight. Ordered a pick up meal for the family. I ordered the fajitas with carne asada. Disappoint #1 they did not include the tortillas in my order, kind of a key piece so I had to call and go back to pick them up. #2 when I got there to pick them up they include a measly 3 street taco sized corn tortillas, for an entire fajita entree! Now IMO and experience at a wide variety of quality Mexican restaurants, this is completely inadequate and unreasonable skimping. #3 When I get home to enjoy my meal, which looks great at first, the carne asada is absolutely raw and not in a good rare steak kind of way. It is raw and chewy. I am not at all opposed to a great piece of rare prepared beef that is well seasoned and tender, but this was not that at all. Really inedible. Anyway, definitely puts a bad taste in my mouth for the restaurant that has previously become a favorite spot for pick up and dine in for us. I think they could use a re-evaluation of the flavor and quality Sol is putting out. Bummer.
