My husband and I had a rare opportunity for a day-date and decided to check out Sol Y Luna in Tarzana. We came in around 3 PM on a Saturday, and to our surprise, the place was packed! Right away, we were greeted with complimentary chips and salsa, which were super fresh and flavorful. We also ordered a small side of guacamole, and it totally hit the spot. I tried the coconut blended margarita and it was a 10/10. The texture was smooth and icy (not watery or chunky like some places), and the coconut flavor was delicious without being overpowering.
For our mains, I ordered the coctel de camaron, which was fresh and full of lime & veggies, and my husband had the chile Colorado burrito, which he enjoyed, but felt it was over-salted (which is saying a lot, because he is obsessed with salt). The food overall was tasty, and our server was friendly and attentive. That said, we did notice that our food took much longer to come out compared to other tables around us. It seemed like our order may not have been put in right away, which was a bit of a bummer.
Still, the atmosphere was fun; the decor is colorful and festive, and there was upbeat music playing that added to the lively vibe. All in all, it was a great experience, and we'd definitely come back... maybe just not when we're super hungry!
