Solar de Cahuenga

Phenomenal food, great ambiance, friendly staff. We ordered French toast, Savoy crepes, Solar omellete, veggie breakfast burrito and a few other things. This was hands down the best French toast I had in my life. A bit crunchy from the outside but fluffy in the inside, topped freshest berries, toasted banana and orange zest. Both the burrito and omelet has lots of fresh veggies and were served with a side of home fries (or the roasted potatoes as they call it) were very delicious. Crepe was yummy too, with lots of Nutella and fresh berries. There is a small parking in the back or parking on the street. Truly a gem in NoHo. Highly recommend. We'll be back here again.

Great brunch and coffee shop in the heart of Hollywood but away from the bustle of Hollywood Blvd. Really solid selection of entrees and baked goods. Bright, lively and a great spot to meet a friend or to focus on your work. Free parking, WiFi, indoor and outdoor seating.

Maybe the best cinnamon roll I have ever had. Not overly sweet, or too buttery, or yeasty. Cooked enough and perfectly balanced. The Chai latte was just right. Very rich in flavor, very nice tea. Not too hot either. Staff is friendly and the place is well kept. Good music as well.

Great vegan options and fresh juices. I had the vegan veggie crepe with potatoes and a sweet green juice. Both were good.

I found this special little coffee shop unexpectedly while wandering down Cahuenga. It is a wholesome little shop with a good selection of coffee and fresh juices, that also makes a variety of good breakfast dishes. The interior is well organized with multiple little sections with slightly different feels, giving it a welcoming spirit where you can choose the spot which fits your mood the best at the moment. There are multiple entrances into the place in each one also feels different from the other, one coming from a back garden like feel, one coming in from the side with an almost art deco feel, then in front along Cahuenga there is an old style overhang with an outdoor seating area in front. It makes the place feel very spacious and interesting to explore. The place is very clean and cozy inside and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed my Pain Perdu (french toast) this morning, it all tasted very fresh. I am craving to come back and try their lemon Rico to pancakes - that sounds yummy.

I’ve been a customer for over eight years now. I’ve been going on my brakes. I always get cheesecake and any of the other pastries that they have. The drinks are very good too. Very good atmosphere. Friendly staff, nice place to relax and catch up with friends or if you need some alone time to get some work done.

First time here and they have plenty of breakfast options to choose from, including savory and sweet crepes, breakfast sandwich and burrito, omeletes, oatmeal, and much more. Their breakfast potatoes were crispy and well seasoned. On the other hand, their parmesan pesto fries were meh. I would have given them one more star if their service was better. The girl who worked at the register was a bit rude and impatient. Other yelp reviewers had made similar comments. Also, the guy who worked in the bar was rude too. I expected some acknowledgement when a patron thanked you for taking their plates away - instead he just walked away. This place seems to hire folks who are way "too cool". LoL

Been a regular for years but just placed an order for delivery. Ordered bacon cooked medium. I'll admit there was a typo it said exactly "Cooked medium. Bot to crispy not to soft" to me it's still pretty obvious we wanted the bacon cooked medium. But it arrived burnt to a crisp no exaggeration. When I called to get a refund on the bacon the manager was rude claiming the typo was saying I wanted it burnt. I don't see it that way since the first two words were "cooked medium" anyone with half a brain would cook it medium and not burn it. He refused to give me a refund told me I could dive it back for an exchange. Given the prices of to eat out and delivery I expected at least a little courtesy and perhaps an admission of "yes I see cooked medium there must have been some confusion" something along those lines instead of an argumentative manager trying to claim "bot" is a word he can fall back on for giving me exactly the opposite of what I ordered. For the price and mediocre food I'd say you're better off going somewhere else, add in the rude customer service when handing a problem with an order it's safe to say I won't be back with my money. UPDATE! At no point did I throw a tantrum. I simply asked for a refund for bacon that wasn't cooked as he described as "medium but crispy" it was burnt to a crisp. Exchanging a dish involves me driving back an order I paid to have delivered. Fact I asked for medium not crispy, received burnt bacon crumbling in the box. So either you don't know what's going on in your kitchen or you're coloring the facts to fit your narrative. Fact "bot" is not a word, stop clinging to a typo as if it gave you instruction. I asked for medium and you bunt it. I have never had a restaurant argue with me a customer in the past or distort what happened in my life. It can take years to get a customer but seconds to lose one. Congratulations you lost more than one today

Located very close to our favorite Airbnb, we stopped in to try breakfast here one morning and fell in love. We've been three times this week and had something different each time. A great breakfast brunch spot with lots of seating inside and out. It's self-seating and everyday we went it was busy. Service is nice and efficient. Food is delicious. Over the course of the week, We had: Breakfast sandwich with a chipotle aioli Peanut Butter smoothie Orange Vanilla smoothie Alka-Seltzer juice Farmers breakfast with eggs, meat and toast Coffee Vegan lemon-poppyseed bread Chicken pesto panini Three cheese burger Greek wrap Oatmeal breakfast cereal with fruit We had all the sides, fries, home-fried potatoes and salad. All were fresh and tasty. Everything was so fresh and delicious. We loved it all and highly Recommend this place for all of your brunch needs. I did notice lots of mimosas, smoothies and drinks. Prices seem reasonable for what you get and the food comes quickly.

I took a second-visit to Solar de Cahuenga, this time con mi madre. The omelettes were delicious; however, the service was insensitive and rude. Let's begin with the fact that I kindly addressed one of the employees directly about a major sexual harassment/invasion of privacy concern with their bathroom door lock being faulty and requiring immediate repair as a strange man walked in on my mom while she was indecent and he passively disregarded me as I addressed it to him. Also, the young lady who's a barista at the coffee station was very rude when I asked her for some hot water and when she made my Mocha latte, she called out my name at the counter when it was ready, but refused to hand me my coffee (as a seasoned professional should) but rather told me to walk around to the other side of the counter to grab it. The level of disrespect and lack of kindness was completely unacceptable and unnecessary. They seemed to be understaffed, yet that is no excuse for the poor attitudes and inappropriate behavior.

Super nice ambience, I love coming here, food is always great, service is top notch, so I can't complain.

Solar de Cahuenga is a cute little restaurant right on the corner of Cahuenga and Franklin, and it looks like they've got a nice-sized outdoor seating area. Their parking lot is pretty teeny though - only a handful of spots, however, they do have at least one designated spot for pick-up and to-go orders! I've driven past here many times and finally decided to eat here with a new friend. My friend and I sat inside where it was cozy; she only had coffee and I had a Nutella + strawberry crepe, which was decent but not "WoW." I'd give the crepe a 3/5. I also ordered some food to go to take home to my BF: a breakfast burrito with some modifications and a Triple Threat smoothie. The smoothie was so refreshing and delicious! I had to stop myself from drinking my BF's entire smoothie!! I knew I should have ordered two smoothies! The second time I got food from Solar de Cahuenga, it was a major letdown!! Granted, ordering off of UberEats may have been a factor for the order being totally inedible. My BF keeps kosher, so when we ordered breakfast burritos, we specifically asked for NO meat, because he can't mix meat with dairy. The UberEats app doesn't have an option for "no meat," so my BF did the most logical thing and wrote in the notes, "NO meat." We then called Solar de Cahuenga to verify that the burritos would be made without meat, and the girl on the phone seemed a bit annoyed and impatient with my BF, but we were confident that the food would come with no meat. When the food arrived, we dove into our burritos with gusto, but then a look of horror spread across my BF's face as he realized that his burrito was full of bacon and cheese. Mine was too! My BF broke his ankle about two weeks ago; his appetite has been pretty poor, but he was finally hungry for the first time since the accident, and I was glad to see him looking forward to eating a nice meal, but unfortunately he couldn't eat even one bite. So disappointing. One would assume that a call to the restaurant to confirm our order would have been more than sufficient to ensure that our order would be made correctly; PLUS our meal cost like $80 for 2 breakfast burritos, 2 orange juices, and 2 iced cinnamon coffee drinks. So nuts!! Thankfully the drinks were excellent. Solar de Cahuenga, in the future, please try to be more mindful when preparing food for anyone who keeps kosher. Thank you.

First of all, there's free parking in the back! There's meters around the restaurant as well. The wait was short and the staff is friendly! They gave me amazing recommendations all meeting my dietary needs, gluten and dairy free! I ordered a vanilla latte with coconut milk and it was delicious. I contemplated ordering one to go! Lol. I also ordered the chicken sausage plate with gluten free bread, potatoes as sides, and even the veggies were amazing. I finished my plate I used the restroom before I left and they're clean!

We had to stand in line for about five minutes, but the woman who helped us was very welcoming and very gracious. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and my husband had the Chiquititas. The food was good. The restaurant was very clean. The only negative was it was very hot. Uncomfortably hot. I mentioned it to an employee and they just said that it's because people keep the doors open. They were both closed when we were there.

Yooooo this place is delicious. Service staff is super cool and they know their stuff. The back patio is without a doubt one of the best in Los Angeles.

One of my favorite hidden gems in LA, I've been coming here for over 10 years (since I was in high school). If anything, the food and coffee has gotten better over time (highly recommend you try the ham & cheese empanadas or breakfast bowls). It's dog friendly, and you always see the place filled up, even in the middle of the week.

An easy stop after walking around lake Hollywood reservoir. Convenient and decent parking on a Friday afternoon. Taste: We got a spinach and artichoke empanada, the green tea 2.0 smoothie and a cold brew. The empanada was pretty good! I really liked the artichoke, and it was an appropriate amount of crisp ones and flavor, not too heavy feeling. The green tea smoothie was one that grew on me as I drank it. Refreshing, not too sweet, but at first I felt it was missing a little something, like pb maybe. The cold brew was really weird, it was maybe nitro? But never settled and had an almost hoppy bitterness to it. I thought it was good but not what I expected. Experience: The cafe wasn't too crowded, but the seating availability felt awkward. The way the space is laid out in the front of the counter was sparse feeling. However, if you've ever waited at a cafe for your drink and there's no where to stand, you might appreciate this spot. The server was friendly and patient as we made our menu choices. Mood Before/After: I was feeling positive before and after. It was a positive experience. I was a little tired, and felt recharged. Fullness: We didn't come to get full, but the snack was an appropriate amount for what we wanted. What else did I eat/do today affecting my experience: today my girlfriend and I went to lake Hollywood for the first time, and we had a nice walk reflecting on a year of knowing each other. I was feeling grateful and lucky to be with her

I now mainly get my coffee from Solar, it's the best coffee I've had! Any food or pastry you get will likely be very very good. I typically go for the Nutella croissant, a crepe, or some avocado toast. The cafe is very open with front and back patio seating as well, a great place to enjoy a good breakfast/brunch or getting some work done. I also can't call out any one specific staff member because they are all amazing. They always greet me when I come in and I'm there so often they basically already know my order. When I'm looking to try something new, they always have a recommendation for me that I always enjoy. Always great drinks, great food, and great service!! Highly recommended :)

What an ADORABLE place!!!! Awesome vibes and awesome coffee!!! The lady that rang me up was so beautiful and just the cutest with her personality. Her customer service was excellent, clean environment, good chill music. Love the decor. Down the street from the Hollywood bowl. There is private parking lots, and meter parking right outside. If you are in the area, I highly recommended.

Don't go here unless you have money to burn . Went for breakfast with my friend and had two orders of scrambled eggs, bacon and sweet potato fries and one slice of banana bread to split between us for FORTY SEVEN DOLLARS!!!! No coffee , no juice. AND you order from the counter so you aren't even paying for service. Was the food good? It was decent but not FORTY SEVEN DOLLARS good!! Also, This is just a cute little cafe on the corner not a restaurant in some high end hotel. Yeah, NO

This weekend I had a friend in town who was staying in Hollywood. We needed a good cafe to catch up at and they suggested this little Hollywood treasure. I've been driving by this place for years so I was excited to finally try it! This place looks small from the outside but we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to find an abundance of seating. You can either sit inside or on their patio. The patio is covered and kept us dry on this rainy day. The menu had so many options that I want to come back for. This is a great place to not only grab a coffee but also get a good light breakfast. The staff member working at the register was kind and helped us with any questions we had regarding the menu. I ended up getting a vegan latte that has been stuck on my mind for days now. It was that good. This place had a very relaxed vibe. I was able to catch up with my friend without feeling like we were rushed out. The only down side is the lack of parking in the area. But that's just how Hollywood is. I don't always enjoy going to Hollywood but this is a place I will be making the trip for again soon!!

OK it was years and several owners since I was here last. I went with a friend who's birthday it was and we wanted to have coffee and cake. The service was very good, the cashier/waiter/ everything did a very good job. The Chai was hot, the cheesecake was divine. I am coming back for breakfast and I hope it is as good as the coffee and cake.

Ive been going to solar for almost 2 years now and i never had any issues, except for the little overpriced food i still always enjoyed it very much. The portions were big and made you full and it always tastes great. But i'm more than disappointed now, $30 for a meal + drink. The portions got SO MUCH smaller, literally a handful of potatoes. It still tastes good, don't get me wrong. But for this price?! do better solar.

This place is amazing. All the staff are the best and the restaurant is really cozy and clean. The crepes are divine and really well made. They are warm and sweet and everything in between. I also has the bagels and shmear and that was amazing too. The salmon was so fresh and the bagels were perfect. My mom also over the omelets and the eggs to. The service is super fast and they are really accommodating. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

I just wanna start off by saying how wonderful this place is I don't really understand the negative reviews. They have a pretty big parking lot that's free considering the area that a bonus for the convenience. They have indoor seating but I prefer the cute little patio with music, birds, chirping, greenery, and heaters for colder weather. The staff is so friendly, with great recommendations. I just wanted something simple traditional and I was not disappointed. My eggs were fluffy. The fries are crispy,bread was perfectly toasted, and my Matcha espresso latte with oat milk was exactly what I wanted. I know a lot of people are complaining about the prices, but I think they're fine. This is a great gem for the neighborhood I wish I would've started coming here sooner.

I've come in for the coffee twice. The second time, we noticed the menu advertising 1 refill per customer (exact wording: "refill One per customer only") Upon drinking the coffee, it was much lighter than the first time/a bit watered down so I was really looking forward to the refill advertised. After paying over $7, we were a bit disappointed when the cashier said you must purchase food in order to get the 1 refill and that it would be $2 per coffee otherwise. That would make it about $12 for 2 coffees. Doesn't make economic sense. My recommendation to the owner: Either re-word your menu for accuracy or take it down all together. This is deceiving and is considered false advertising. Might come back again if the coffee is brewed strong enough

This hidden gem is tucked away on the corner, you might miss it if you aren't paying attention. We stumbled upon this by sheer luck, and the meal set us right for the morning. Turned out being the best meal we had during our stay in Los Angeles. Service was friendly and helpful. The ambiance was cozy and spacious, with a chill vibe.The breakfast burrito was delicious. It came with potatoes, which were cooked perfectly and had a unique seasoning. Dipped them in the spicy and tangy chipotle aioli..Dank. You can really tell the cooks take pride in their craft.

Solar, solar, solar.... you have pulled me back in yet again. I have been coming for now 9 years, and have seen highs and lows and am so relieved to see today we are back in a good place :) Food menu has been updated, assuming to be more manageable but it's fantastic with solid choices. Best iced vanilla lattes in LA (I purposely drive weekends to try new spots, nothing compares) Morning crepe has become a new favorite for breakfast. Very filling, very warm and delicious with lots of cheese usually. Cheers to more years together

We enjoyed this dog friendly, casual brunch spot. It's got its own parking lot, two patios, and good eats. The lox/bagel dish offered all the fixings and their version of French toast was excellent! AND the latte was on point! You order at the counter and they bring your food ... food took awhile and the rear patio was a bit worn, so one star off. I recommend Solar de Cahuenga.

Absolutely delicious! My friend and I decided to try out this local eatery, and from what I read before, the reviews were right. Great service, friendly staff, and food was brought out promptly, and PIPING hot!! I ordered the "Solar Breakfast Sandwich", and it was fantastic! Eggs were fresh, bacon was crispy, and (for those of you who saw "Birds of Prey") I felt like Harley Quinn watching her egg sandwich being made: it was just heaven. On top of that, I got the Dulce de Leche iced latte to wash it down, and it was just as great. This place not only has great food, but their outside dining area is so cute! It is covered, so you know you won't get burned, but on top of that they have some beautiful green walls covered in succulents. Gorgeous day, gorgeous food, gorgeous experience!

Found this an unexpected quaint hideaway at a like 8-way intersection smack dab in the middle of Hollywood. Surreal atmosphere. My experience was positive but it was also strange. This place has the kind of architecture you would see in a dream. They have bottomless mimosas here. One day I will come back and get very drunk. A lot of fellow patrons working on computers. What are they all doing? It's it man's destiny to merge with machine? Where do these roads lead? I took a photo of this slice of blueberry loaf, because it looks menacing and sinister.

Absolutely love this place and all of the employees. I go here at least once a week! The Dulce de Leche latte is a 10/10

Haven't eaten here in years! Wanted to support small business during this time. Delivery review. Ordered the avocado toast which came with eggs and French fries and ordered an ice blended solar mocha Avocado toast was bland. The rest of the order was great. My coffee was so great- like the hint of cinnamon. Fries were crispy. Eggs were good.

Wow, it's an accomplishment for Solar to have survived Hollywood as long as it has. Pricey for the steaks but they were good (owner's Argentinian)! Croissant was not great. Good service as well.

I ordered the vegan bowl and I was seriously disappointed by the presentation. It was just a side blob of hummus w 3 falafel balls n itty pieces of onion. It also came w a side salad and pitta but unfortunately the side salad was pretty basic and boring that I had no interest in eating it. I also ordered fries on the side and bleh the fries were pretty bland soggy and had no seasoning or flavor. I took them out and tried baking them in the oven for a while and they wouldn't get crunchy. I just gave up on them and left them there. Didn't eat the fries. My husband got the solar burger and he seemed pretty content w his choice. My choice was such a disappointment. Don't think I'll be paying so much money for this mediocre presentation and quality of food.

Came here for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. The place is airy, comfy and casual with tons of seating, and gives the feeling that you're welcome to stay as long as you like. The food is fairly expensive but solid. I LOVED the side salad that came with my two eggs, bacon and toast ($15). It had a bright lemony dressing and fresh mint. Would go back again for the salad alone! The coffee was good too. Service was really great, all the staff were kind and competent. There aren't many places I'd recommend for breakfast or lunch in Hollywood, but this is one of them.

I love the omelette at this restaurant , they make them so big that I have to save half for later they make it nicely and fresh, they have so many different food that I would love to try, I just don't leave nearby, but I definitely have it on my list, so when I'm around for lunch or dinner!

Frankly, recent Yelp reviews for Solar initially scared me off from wanting to check it out. I didn't experience any of the issues that recent Yelpers have mentioned, though my order was pretty basic, and I sat inside. There were a bunch of groups gathering here; the long, communal tables certainly make group meets optimal. My partner and I sat in the window. We enjoyed our Solar and Dulce de Leche lattes, respectively. I do appreciate a unique latte offering. We split the ham and cheese croissant, which was nothing to write home about but was just what we were looking for on this specific morning. What I really don't understand is the bright yellow exterior. It's a bit off-putting when you're approaching, but it is certainly memorable!
