"Solomon’s, the downtown Sacramento restaurant that opened as a modern Jewish delicatessen in 2019 before being reimagined as a diner in 2023, has closed, as has its sister music venue the Russ Room, the Sacramento Bee reports. “We are confident this will be a temporary closure as we fervently believe this special space is destined for a second life,” a statement from the restaurant reads, but per the Bee, Solomon’s appears to be for sale." - Paolo Bicchieri

"This American diner, housed in a former Tower Records store featuring retro decor, offers two Brunch the House Down drag shows, hosted by popular queen, Mercury Rising, on the first Saturday of the month at 11 a.m and 1:30 p.m. Order a Bloody Mary or mimosa and slay with their Tres Leches French Toast or Khachapuri, featuring handmade pizza dough baked in a stone oven and topped with an egg, mozzarella, and feta cheese. "Named after Sacramento native Russ Solomon, the founder of Tower Records, and kerplunked into an original Tower Records on a main downtown thoroughfare, Solomon’s is one of the city’s few Jewish delicatessens. With a restored psychedelic mural from 1973, it’s also one of the most aesthetically unique restaurants in Sacramento. This is the place to get your pastrami, lox, whitefish, and knish fix. Don’t even think about passing up the pastrami bacon, egg, and cheese bagel." - Illyanna Maisonet

This was a fun and funky place for Saturday lunch. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We were seated quickly. Enjoyed coffee and watching everyone coming for the “drag show” brunch. Got a burger and rueben, which the staff gladly cut in half so that we could split. Everything was fresh and scratch made. The pastrami was sliced thick. The fries were salty, goodness and almost shoestring thin. We never were without refills. The ambiance rocked. The “all gender” bathrooms were pretty cool too. Up the stairs, and you could even get a selfie with Ross himself…. On the wall that is. Definitely worth the walk to enjoy good food, great service, and fun vibes!

If a VIBE was a restaurant, it would be Solomon’s. We made reservations for Sunday Brunch and sat upstairs in the Listening Room where a live DJ plays some good throw backs while you eat and drink. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwich and let me tell you.. it was AMAZING! The butter bread is so soft, the sandwich just melts. Also ordered the Chicken Sandwich, chicken was a good crisp, overall a good one. Lastly we ordered the Chickpea Salad. It was pretty hefty and far from plain, comes with a Pomegranate Lemon Vinaigrette. For drinks, we tried two different flavored Mimosa Carafe’s, Pomegranate and Pineapple. Both tasted great and had a pretty good champagne to juice ratio. Kim was our server, she was so fun and sweet! We had a great time here and I can’t wait to come back!

I went and loved the atmosphere. They had the menu made out of records, there was cool art and a DJ. I ordered the drink called green eyes and the tequila cocktail. I don’t remember the name but it was strong and good. I had the chicken and French toast. I wasn’t crazy about the French toast because it was a legit sweet bun that they made into French toast. The concept was there but the flavor wasn’t that great for me. Once I ordered, they said the food would take a hour but honestly it was about 35-45 minutes and with the great music and conversation, the wait went by quickly if you keep the drinks going. I would definitely go back for the atmosphere and to try some of the other food , it looks amazing.

I started writing this before I even got my food. The vibes here are IMMACULATE. From the host/hostesses that greeted us to the runners who brought our food out, everyone was so kind and funny and personable. We ordered the whipped herb cream cheese everything bagel, special pizza of the day (margherita) and blueberry lavender mimosas. The price is amazing for the quality of the food. The bagels are made in house and have the most wonderful, chewy crumb. The pizza was topped with fresh basil and had a luxurious and chewy but light and crispy crust. Shout out to Jack. Our server Emily was also amazing. Super attentive and came to check on us through our meal but not annoying (you know what I mean?). We absolutely loved chatting with her. She was hilarious and so so nice. Can't wait to come back to town because we will definitely come straight back here.

This place is AWESOME!! The staff is so friendly. Goo was a great server, I love her energy! The Mimosas were very good, must try the Blueberry-lavendar. The Pastrami on rye is also a must try, you will not be disappointed! My friend tried the chicken sandwich and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is very homey and family friendly. I will definitely be back! 😁

Hi, a mix of good and bad. BUT, they killed me at the bottle of champagne for the mimosas $39 and that’s not cool (normally pay 18-25) fix that because it’s less service for staff if you give me a bottle so I can pour it and they can work on other guests. They were slow with us and served a couple that got there after us. I had the Japanese Omelette, very tasty and unique. I’d give it a 4 plus IF they remove the fishy bonito flakes. I get trying to be authentic, but the fishy smell is the last thing you want in the morning with your mimosas or any drink at that. My friends had the basic and they said that the bacon wasn’t that good. They also had the chicken sandwich and they really liked the chicken. The winner was the “Como la flor” drink! That was Richard flavor potent ! I will be back. And I will adjust that star level if they meet my expectations

Just needed a quick lunch and I was very impressed by the food and the drinks. Quality was excellent for both. The bartender is very skilled. The service was a tad slow but it was Saturday during brunch so it's expected. Will definitely come back.

Google
we came for late lunch so they only had the salt bagel left. we had the lux bagel and egg/onions japanese milk bun. both were pretty decent. japanese milk bun was better than the salt bagel imo. and i love the pickles platter! live dj and good music inside. cool atmosphere. plenty of outdoor seating. would come back to try their weekend brunch and other drinks.

Yelp
Walking down K Street on a Saturday afternoon and decided to try this place. Back in the day this was Rick's Record Rack and maybe Tower Records as well. I had purchased music before. Ambiance Very cool, outdoor seating great for people watching. Russ Room is upstairs. Service Emily was great. She noticed I was wearing a 'Guardians of the Galaxy' t-shirt then she played the soundtrack which I love. She was so sweet. Cobb Salad This has to be one of the best Cobb salads in Sacramento. Generous chicken, bacon and ham. Produce was fresh and crunchy. Will definitely return when I want a salad.

Yelp
Solomon's is located on K street, which is surrounded by many bars and restaurants. I visited without a reservation, the host seated us immediately but they did let us know of the longer wait time for food to come out. We were okay with this and enjoyed our drinks while we waiting for our food. I ordered their Breakfast Sando. My taste buds were in awe of their breakfast sandwich - the fluffiest eggs ever, paired perfectly with crispy fried chicken. Solomon's boasts a diverse breakfast menu and a selection of your favorite brunch beverages. Their ice-cold brew coffee left me speechless - a definite must-try. The vibe is electric, with lively music on the first floor and a DJ spinning tunes upstairs. Embracing a classic American Diner theme adorned with curated vinyl records. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
Came back with my colleague for lunch to try Solomon's again! This time we pre-ordered our food (take out) to save us some time since we wanted to make it back to work on time. Our plan was to order ahead and dine in. We did mention we ordered to go via online but wanted to seat inside to the staff and they were okay with it. Our waitress still treated us as if we were dining in, which was nice. We waited just a few minutes for our food and they were kind enough to set it on a plate for us! I was honestly expecting a takeout box. That was so kind of the cooks and wait staff. This time I ordered the Portabello Mushroom Sandwich. My colleague loved the chicken sandwich so much so she ordered it again. We decided to split our sandwiches and share so we can experience different items. Both sandwiches were delicious! Juicy, succulent, crispy, and a flavor bomb! Their fries were so yummy with the salt flakes. Service was excellent and vibe was also amazing! I'm reminiscing and thinking of my next visit as we speak. Nothing beats amazing food, company, and service.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday and there was no wait. I ordered the Patti (eggs, cheese, aioli on a Japanese milk bun) with added pastrami ($5 extra). It was so yummy! The pastrami was tender and fatty. I tried my bf's yakitori, and I thought it was tender and flavorful! My bf didn't really like it though since he thought the sauce was weird

Yelp
Solomon's Vinyl Diner is the perfect spot for a weekend brunch with friends or family. The atmosphere is lively and fun, making it ideal for large groups looking to have a good time. The second-floor DJ adds to the experience by playing the best old-school music, creating a fantastic vibe for brunch. My favorite item on the menu was the chicken waffle and pastrami sandwich which were both absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a causal and upbeat place to enjoy a great meal and music, Solomon's Vinyl Diner is the place to be! Pros : they take reservations, can accommodate large groups , good sounds, really cool decor, good food of course, friendly staff Cons: parking downtown is never fun , music can get a bit loud

Yelp
Omg, such a great time! The party is upstairs, with good music and all the fun. Coincidentally there was a large 60th birthday party going on which had the place so lit! The service was great, I ordered a few pitchers for my table, a few plates and all came pretty quick. Food was great too!

Yelp
One of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots in Sacramento! Have been here many times and the food here is always solid! Came on an off day in the middle of the week and was seated right away. At any other time, I would recommend making a reservation. All the employees are super friendly there. The food does take a bit of time to come out but it is definitely worth the wait! Ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and opted to make it spicy. The chicken was CRISPY and the flavor of the hot sauce was delicious with a nice kick to it. The fries were made fresh and perfect. Nice bite to it; crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Love the atmosphere of the restuarant with the Vinyl playing in the background. Each area (outside vs inside vs upstairs) feels like it has its own vibe. On days where they have events, its even more lit! Definitely a must try and highly recommend!

Yelp
Obviously, walkable to Golden One, DOCO (downtown commons), old Sacramento (the tunnel walkway to old Sacramento) a bunch of bars and restaurants. Street parking available but recommend to uber. Upon walking up to the restaurant there was beautiful mural on the front ceiling. Also, looks like you can dine outside too. Visiting family and my cousin picked out this restaurant in downtown for family breakfast for 9:30 am reservation for a party of 9. Not so fully packed yet but slowing starting to get busy. Definitely make reservations anyways regardless of size. Ambiance was very music themed. Very hip and urban. Bathrooms are gendered neutral so no waiting in line for the women's bathroom. At first, I wanted to order the Japanese Omelet and one of my uncles wanted the pastrami on rye but turns out they were out of pastrami, and they could not do the Japanese Omelet due to the timing of preparation.... instead, I ordered the Breakfast Sando sandwich, the beet salad and roasted broccolini. Food was acceptable but not exciting. Great concept of a restaurant but did not experience their execution.

Yelp
Mural is beautiful. Very welcoming staff. Clean tables. Delicious food - I had the tri tip. Tasty drinks. Can't wait for drag brunch!!

Yelp
First time having brunch on a Saturday with the girls , and I must say the vibe , energy, music and service was incredible! Let's start with the mimosa flight , which is a must and they have a great selection to choose from. Next I ordered the Okonomiyaki, Japanese omelet with scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, cabbage and carrots. Topped with scallions, housemade oko sauce, kewpie aioli and bonito flake. Let me just say this is so flavorful, and the flavors go so well together for a savory omelet. Also the presentation is perfection ! I think the only thing I would change is to omit the bonito flakes, but other then that it's a must try! The service was impressive, our server was super helpful with the menu and also checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our brunch ! So if your looking for a great time to have a few mimosas with your girls on a Saturday this is the place and the 90's r&b music was definitely a hit !!

Yelp
Food - 4.5 mics Service - 4.5 mics Ambiance - 5 mics This place is dope. We were immediately greeted by a friendly and happy host. We entered in and the vibe was real. Behind the bar top there were stacked up old school floor speakers that decorated the backdrop of the bar. The menu was a plastic record cover with menu on one side, drink menu on the b side and a record. We started with cold brew getting our caffeine fix. I had the chicken thighs and French toast which was rich and delicious. My wife had the onomiyaki (japanaese omelet) also a great selection. The service was very friendly and happy to assist with any questions. The ambience put the icing on the cake. Live DJ after 11:00am that plays upstairs. There is also a bar upstairs to enjoy a drink. The whole restaurant has vinyl all over you will find a gem hidden here and there. All in all, I want to go back and enjoy this place again and again.

Yelp
Was excited about the revamp and cool vibes of this location. Music nods plastered everywhere and good music throughout. Party of 5 for brunch on Sunday was seated quickly! They take reservations so booking ahead would be a good idea. The service should be improved for future guests. Server took our orders for drinks soft drinks that came 15 mins later, then put in our food which took over an hour to get served. Our 2 servers and the manager kept checking on "how everything was" when we were waiting on food. No offer to refill drinks during the wait. We asked for water and to my surprise the server came out with a small drinking glass to refill. I've never seen this before as a customer and someone whose worked in the industry. Presentation was beautiful with large portions, but we didn't enjoy the food. Everything was over-salted which made it difficult to eat. I understand it was a busy day, but that's not an excuse for the poor service as there's other establishments that are busier with seamless service. I think there should be more transparency with add-ons. Typically, a choice of protein and carbs (potatoes/hash) are included for bfast, but everything is an additional cost here so be weary as servers don't communicate that. Sauce was also charged which I thought maybe $.50, it's $2 here. They just add what protein/side you want and add it to the bill. Menu prices aren't up to date, bacon is $3, but we were charged $5. For the high price of each meal after extras, I expected more but was disappointed. I hope others have a better experience!

Yelp
Alright... Let's start by saying, we went rogue from my Sunday tradition to go to Temple and decided to check out Solomon's. If you love DOCO you have seen this wonderful artwork of a spot. Music is awesome, really cool overall and it's perfect way to start your Sunday. We had no reservations, they literally just opened and was greeted by Nina who by the way is the perfect person to meet guest for the first time. Super awesome, we got seated right away and we had a spot outside which I think is way better than inside. Nina gave her suggestions and she was so fun and just very welcoming, made us feel like were visiting a cousins place. (If you're Filipino, you would know what I mean) . It was my first time here and I was ready to try new things. Again, she gave us her faves and suggestions so we got the breakfast sando and I got the japanese omelet. (She legit did not suggest this one but I went rogue on this one too) Got a couple of drinks, one was the gasoline sumthin sumthin (alcoholic) and I got the yummy green one since Im on my alcohol detox, So glad they have options for people who are not drinking. Ok, let's talk about food. Portion was just right, the sando was good, yummy biscuit and delish. My Jap omelet is not for everyone, it is most def an acquired taste. Think about takoyaki and omelet had a baby- this is it. Vibe is 5/5, food is 4/5 but again, I went rogue in that and service and ambiance is a 6/5, Nina, Extra 1 star for you. Most def gonna be back!

Yelp
Not sure how I missed this place last summer when I was in Sac but I'm glad we found it now! Super cute, eclectic little breakfast/lunch spot. They have great music playing and classic music videos on the screens. We didn't try any cocktails this time but they looked yummy. We did get tea and coffee which was the perfect afternoon pick me up. All of the staff that we interacted with just lovely. Super helpful and attentive. Ok but the food! The food was soooo yummy!! I had their Crispy Portobello sandwich and it was to die for! They make their milk bread buns fresh daily and it shows. That bun was so soft and pillowy. The portobello was amazing! It was crispy(as the name implies) and actually super flavorful. The sauce they used was also so tasty! I got a side of ranch for my fries and it was home made and I loved the dill! I finished all the ranch it was so amazing! And of course, the crispy yet soft fries were a delight. My husband got their chicken sandwich and added the hot sauce so that it was nice a spicy. He said that it was excellent, good portion, loved the texture. He wished the sauce was a bit hotter but he would happily order it again. Overall, another winner for Sac!

Kimberly L.

Yelp
Food was good and service was prompt. I liked the chill ambiance downstairs. Upstairs was nice too; gave off low key speakeasy vibes. I was told their drinks were delicious

Charles T.

Yelp
A solid brunch spot with a good selection of sweet and savory options. I went here because I heard they had some of the best bagels in Sacramento. I don't know that I agree. While the bagels are flavorful the texture of the crust and interior is a bit too soft and cakey for my preferences. Glad some people love this place but I won't come back for a bagel. With that said the pastrami on rye was absolutely delicious and came with a generous portion of perfectly cooked fries. The interior of the space is a fun combination of classic diner and record store aesthetics. It can be a little loud inside. Service was quick and helpful.

Nina L.

Yelp
I don't like leaving bad reviews, but there wasn't anything good about my visit to Soloman's over the weekend for brunch. The place was packed, and we sat outside since I had my dog with me. Winters are pretty cold on Sacramento patios, yet there were no heaters. Service was extremely slow. Our food took 30 minutes to come out. We got the crispy portobello sandwich, steak and eggs, and biscuits and gravy. Steak and eggs were ok, asked for over medium eggs, and they came out over hard. The tri tip was a bit dry. I used some gravy from the biscuits, which made it edible. The biscuits were dense and dry. They did not absorb any of the gravy. Portobello sandwich was also very overcooked and dry. The fries that came with the sandwich were overly salty. Horseradish aioli that cost 2$ was just mayo with a slight horseradish taste. If I ever come back, it'll just be for drinks. The food was so disappointing.

Malikah H.

Yelp
Came here for the vibe session they have on the second and fourth Thursday of the month and overall enjoyed the evening. About two hours end the setup got chaotic and there was unorganized chaos and everyone congregated in the front to block the side tables view of the "stage" which was a hot mess and finally just made us leave. For an "open mic" it was utterly an unorganized mess to say it plainly. The mic kept passing back to the same couple of people which was disappointing since you could see so many people in the "line" that formed waiting to do their thing. My partner and I agreed to give the place another chance next month but now knowing not to sit in the circular booth if we actually want to see the stage area and also to taper our expectations of this being like a more structured open mic and more of a hot potato mic session. Most of the people who performed were dope. And the other.... Practice makes perfect. This was definitely worth the $5.00 entry and $15 for parking. Can't wait to attend another event now that I know what to expect.

Adrienne D.

Yelp
I had a reservation at Solomon's for 1:15 PM. Due to Pride events going on in DOCO, the place was packed. Even with a reservation, it took over an hour for my party to have food served. I understand that the restaurant is new after re-opening. However, the fact that it took so long for the food to come out wasn't acceptable. Mind you, the restaurant closes at three. Our food didn't come out until roughly half an hour before close. The food was good. Crispy chicken sandwich was very tender and juicy. The fries were good and the food was hot. Positive note: My party was offered a free pitcher of mimosas. In that vein, the pictures are on the smaller side. I think at a cost of $39 the mimosa pitcher is not worth the cost because it's only a pitcher that's good enough for two drinks per person if you're in a party of three. So essentially only 6 servings in a pitcher. Overall, the restaurant is a solid place. I think if they work out their kinks in the timing of seating parties and reservations until the food is served, then they'll be in good shape. The restaurant needs to know how to pivot for rush hour. The maximum wait time for a Patty less than 6 for food should be 45 minutes. Also, I wouldn't come to this restaurant for a more intimate setting. The music is very loud and you can barely hear yourself think. I really struggled to hear those in my party speak. However, the music at the restaurant is very good. I understand that the restaurant wants to establish themselves as a fun location for a younger audience, however, there is a way to do that without blasting music to deafening volumes.

Yelp
I am giving this place a 5 star based on two things really (1) their obvious rad decor and theme and (2) their tuna sandwich!! My cousin and I played hooky on Friday and this was our first stop for lunch. I tried their blueberry lavender cold brew and the flavor was lacking. I couldn't taste much of blueberry or lavender, but it was pretty. I would skip this unless you're going to add one of their various boozy add-ons. We shared their mushroom lettuce wraps. They were decent -- definitely different because their fried their mushroom with a light batter, but the mushroom flavor was lost. Their sauce and cilantro and carrots were great though, so overall I would still try these if you're looking for something unique. The tuna sandwich was the star of the show for me (see the photo of the menu below to read the ingredients). It was SO damn good! It was large, but also felt light. The flavor was perfect and refreshing! I can't wait to have that sandwich again sometime. Service was good, no complaints there. We went on a Friday afternoon around 11 so there was no wait either.

Yelp
I'd say this place is more for the fun esthetic and bar, and less about the menu. Menu has quality ingredients, just not as riveting as I expected. Over all a solid brunch experience though.

Mari C.

Yelp
The menu has changed a bit since I've last been there so may this be a testament to their past food items. The Okonomiyaki is more egg heavy than I'm used to but I thought it was really good still. Their mashed potatoes were the star on the next plate. The breakfast sandwich was also very tasty but just a little heavy with what we're already eating but I don't regret adding the spam. Love the vibe of this place. I like the second floor better bc you can see the live DJ. Would definitely come back. Please bring back the Okonomiyaki!

Chris K.

Yelp
First a couple of bright spots and then the rest. Food was good, not spectacular, but solidly decent Wait staff did a great job, kept us filled and fueled. Kudos!! Good attitude and good work ethic. Then the rest. Menu and website should be up to date! Don't show what we can't buy, feels like a bait and switch. I asked about two items, co-worker asked about another. All no longer available. Charging the same price on a virgin drink as a boozy version feels a little chincy. Good luck going forward!!

Dyanna Q.

Yelp
We attended a private party on the upper floor, and it was the perfect space to host an event! The space is large, the drinks are so delicious, and theres space for a DJ. I was shocked to find that they were serving drinks off the menu instead of just well drinks. I loved the decor of album art, and the food hit the spot - nothing fancy but all filling. I definitely recommend having a party here!

Jemellee S.

Yelp
Solomon's is a vibe! I loved everything about it. Brunch and a show. But let me tell you my experience. We reserved a table for brunch and knew there was going to be a show but did not know it was a different reservation. So FYI reservations for brunch and show are two different things. But we were still able to watch the show as it was confusing. When we walked in, a hostess asked if we came for brunch or the show we said both. She told us we needed to order the food at the counter and then we can bring food up to the show. However, there were other people waiting for the show and she took their order. Another girl told us her order was taken as well and she didn't have to go to the counter. So I was a bit annoyed! But, it doesn't matter because we got our food. I ordered the "Basic" which included 2eggs, fingerlings potatoes, bagel, and house made seasoning and I added bacon. I am not a potato person, I like them ok. But these fingerlings are fire! They were crisp, and tender to bite then you get an explosion of seasoning in your mouth! That itself is 5 stars. And dip that bagel in your over easy eggs...OMG! My friend ordered one of their empanadas (had smoked chicken in it) wow! The presentation of he food in a to go box does not do justice by the way it tasted. And oh don't pass up those cookies on the counter! The show: for those who don't know, it's a drag show. This was upstairs in the Russ Room. I'd say it's a good size room. It can get crowded and very loud. This was one of the most fun drag shows I've ever been to. This show is 5stars! The performances were so good and very entertaining. The audience were engaged and lively! Oh we were able to eat up there. There's also a bar so you don't have to go back downstairs. I totally recommend this for special occasions! (Bachelorette, birthdays, promotions, whatever)!

Deborah B.

Yelp
Great music, food, drinks, and service! We enjoyed the laid-back vibe, and the food pairs perfectly with their long list of fantastic specialty drinks!

Markus R.

Yelp
The location is really good. It's right on K street a skip away from DOCO and the arena. It's near many other restaurants, bars, and night clubs. It's right on a light rail stop so if you want to choose public transit, you don't have to go far. If you drive and want to park, your only options are to go in a parking structure. The interior was nice. There are murals painted on the walls, vinyls and CDs hanging, colors everywhere. The only problem was how LOUD the music was. They had a DJ in there for brunch and they did NOT need to have it that loud in there lol it was noon not 11PM in a club. It was impossible to hear our server since the music was blasting, we even had to move seats and it didn't make much of a difference. The bathrooms are upstairs and really nice. It's like one massive room with smaller toilet rooms, very 'gender' neutral. They have a bench out front that is very photogenic. There is also a ballroom-ish area that looks like it can be rented out. The food was good. They definitely specialize in unique food options like their egg pizza or their burger that looks like it was the one that killed the food inspector from SpongeBob. I would recommend coming here if you want to try something unique that you will not find anywhere else. I can't even begin to describe what type of food they have. It's almost like a spin on soul food or Himalayan food I am not sure. The prices are on the higher side, you can't walk out of here under $40 for a meal for two. The portions are rather large so you will walk out of here content. Their salted chocolate chip cookies were really good. Bottom Line/TLDR: unique location and food.

Yelp
From the entrance to the diners interior, it is a diner with a very cool vibe. The restaurant is named for Russ Solomon, the owner of the now defunct Tower Records. The location also used to be a Tower Records store, which is cool. We arrived about 45 minutes before they closed on a Sunday afternoon, and the greeting was friendly. We were seated upstairs where the DJ was still spinning tunes. Our server was quick and friendly. The menus are printed on what appears to be album covers with artificial albums inside. Mr. Bee ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich which came with a Mt. Everest sized pile of crispy fries. I ordered the Egg Salad Sandwich, very seldom do you see an Egg Salad Sandwich on menus and I just had to try it. Shortly after our order went in, the manager came over to the table to apologize, they had run out of egg salad, so now I know it must be fantastic. He took a new order, and I went with the Egg and Cheese Biscuit Sandwich. The food came out quickly and was steaming hot. The Fried Chicken Sandwich was excellent, the chicken was fried to perfection, was nice and crispy and juicy on the inside. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. My Egg Biscuit sandwich was also excellent. The biscuit was tender, flaky and really buttery. The egg was tender and the cheese melted so that it oozed out, just the way I like it. As we were leaving, the manager walked up to me to make sure my meal was to my liking and he apologized again for not having any Egg Salad. This was classy and the way you do business. The fact that he remembered me to approach me is impressive. Parking is not the best. I can see where it could be difficult on a busy Saturday. The section of street where the diner is located is closed to cars. We did find parking in a parking garage off the alley behind the restaurant.

Yelp
This place is great! I made a reservation for my husband's birthday brunch about a week in advance. The staff members were so accommodating and friendly. I appreciated that they were cool with me making a reservation for a big party (16 people) in the upstairs listening lounge. I love the decor of the place: vinyl records and a big mural of Prince. Happy vibes! I liked the music that the DJs played. We were right next to the speakers so it was a bit challenging to talk to each other without yelling, lol, but it was still fun! My Chicken and French toast dish was delicious! I was disappointed, though, that the Japanese omelet was unavailable/sold out, but it gives me a reason to come back. I got the Cuban Mojito for my drink, which was a bit too sweet for my taste so I probably won't get that again. Our server, Kim, was great. She came to check on us multiple times, making sure our drinks were full and that we liked the food. I was able to use gift cards that I had bought at Costco for this restaurant. At the time of payment, their Wi-Fi was down but the manager still honored my gift cards, which was a relief. The discount gift cards from Costco were helpful with the big bill. Overall, this place was a cool spot to eat and drink and hang out with friends. We didn't bring the kids, but we did see some families with young kids there. I like the vibe and would definitely come back again.

Yelp
*2 reviews in 1* I was here in July for a birthday Sunday brunch and it was such a vibeeeee. The music was fun, the drinks were great, the service and food wer great and quick. That day our table ordered chicken French toast, absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked chicken and the right amount of sweet on the French toast. As well as ordering the breakfast sandwich which was amazinngggg. I was hoping to order that the next time I can. Which was today, we came again as a small group, celebrating a birthday on a Sunday. Complete opposite service from the first visit which was SOOO disappointing!! Apparently they opened upstairs for dining and a few months ago it was a drink / dj hang out situation, we'll that pushed the kitchen behind. Really poor management idea, I get it you want to make more $$ but if the service is bad, you'll be losing more in the end than extra $$. So to start off our server let us know it would be an hour wait for food, we being the young social drinkers we are thought ok we will drink during that hour. WRONG. We had 1 drink within an hour in a half. Our server Nicole got us water once and no re fill, handed us menus, took the order and she never checked on us again. We ordered the chicken sandwich and pastrami sandwich, both sandwiches were GREAT!! The fries were ok. Drinks were also really good. But our food was brought by someone else, our second round of drinks was taken and brought by someone else. Once we got our food, we inhaled it and wanted to leave immediately. Nicole (server) came to give us the check, asked if we were celebrating anything (a little late there) and then gave a side eye when her tip was crummy. The food was great, but I don't think I'll recommend this place anymore. Ps. Make a small menu for upstairs so it's not a 2+ hour for food and employees don't look miserable and stressed!! Good luck

Yelp
The restaurant's exterior and interior are very impressive and well-maintained. The food we ordered was delicious and the customer service we received was exceptional. We decided to indulge in their mimosa flights, which were a perfect complement to our meal. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and wouldn't hesitate to visit again in the future.

Yelp
Solomon's is one of those places I wish I visited more often. Mostly the location and parking keeps me away, but when I am in the area and can stop by I do. They also have special events like Drag Brunch that make it worth the downtown struggle. I need to try more of their menu, but right now the Russ is my favorite. I love a good everything bagel and their housemade lox is great, especially combined with cream cheese, pickled onions, tomato and capers. It's my perfect breakfast. The restaurant also is such a cool vibe, the art and colors bring you in and make you want to spend some time here. The staff are also friendly and helpful. I'm excited for my next visits already.

Yelp
Love this place on a quiet morning! I typically get the blueberry lavender latte and the pickle plate. I love their Haifa (I may have spelled that wrong) salad. It's extremely delicious and very filling! Today I got my usual two and the Patti (a breakfast sandwich on a Japanese Milk Bun). Very very tasty! They are semi dog friendly (did ask if mine was a service animal which he is) because we sat inside. That's completely ok! :) I've had him on the patio before so I know animals can sit outside no problem! Definitely check this place out as it's a Sacramento staple for sure!

Yelp
First let me say that the interior of Solomon's is very cool. Love the diner aesthetic and the lady who served me was very nice. The food however was okay. The chicken didn't do too much for me, but the French toast was good. The Tuna sandwich didn't have anything special about it but made me feel healthy haha. Overall giving this place roughly a ~3.5/5 based off of my experience. Would love the chicken to maybe be more crispy or flavorful along with the tuna sandwich.

Yelp
Fantastic food! Spectacular service! Amazing ambiance! oh and Best Bagels/Brunch!! I believe they boil the bagels. These are real bagels. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday before 2pm and there were a good amount of guests dining and still plenty of seats available. This spot closes at 3pm. There is outdoor seating upon entering the building. This is a two story restaurant and the second floor has a Dj playing older R&B music. There is an elevator. The vibe and layout is nice. Service was ok, not really there. Upon getting our food, a woman with a pro cam started taking pics of our food. I'm not sure if she worked there or was just a guest. I was kind of confused but we just let it be. We ordered the Chicken & French Toast. The chicken was good and crispy. I wasn't fond of the french toast. We also got the Classic 2 Egg Breakfast. We added bacon for another $5 which gives you two pieces. The biscuit tasted really good with the spread given. Overall, it was ok.

Yelp
This place is def. worth the hype. Was lucky to find a spot at the bar without a reservation and immediately was struck by the decor and impressed by the music selection (a mix of old school Soul/RnB/Funk). Both bartenders were also very kind as well as the security who stood out front, as well. I ordered the basic breakfast: two eggs anyway, biscuit, hash browns and a side order of bacon. While waiting, had a Two River Cider as apparently I overheard the draft was down. It was very busy on this Saturday afternoon (around 12:30); thus, it took 20 or more minutes for the food to arrive. Again, one of the bartenders noted this was due to the kitchen going under a bit due to how busy it was. The food was okay for the price...the bacon as well as hash browns a little burnt and the eggs lacking flavor a bit (only so much one can do with scrambled eggs, however). Still, the biscuit and accompanying sweet butter was amazing. In addition, the drink I ordered afterwards--Soak Up the Sun (tequila sunrise type of vibe)--was really good. Not too overwhelming but still enough of a kick to get you through the day. Overall, will come back and visit and order more dishes such as the tri-tip (which looked amazing nearby).

Yelp
Solomon's continues to have a wide array of ethnic inspired dishes from various cultures. From the outside it just looks like a normal deli or diner restaurant and they should definitely advertise their menu more often because it's super unique! Today we came in for breakfast to try their okonomiyaki, which is a part of their street food menu that is only available on weekends and weeknights. You can add various toppings but the extra charges are kinda outrageous... like $4.99 for spam. That's more than an actual whole can of spam at the store! We chose the addition of fried eggs for $2.99, but since they put it at the bottom of the okonomiyaki it's unclear how many there actually are, I think I could only spot one yolk honestly. The taste itself though was pretty good, I enjoyed the sauces and bonito flakes the most, but the carrots were undercooked and that raw carrot flavor just stood out too much. I also ordered a khachapuri which I remember enjoying last time we ordered it because of the homemade dough. It's pretty filling because of all the dough and cheese so I was still able to take half home for leftovers. I added the chili crunch for $1.99 and the amount they put was disappointing, another overpriced add-on.. It had nice flavor but wish there was more of it. Luckily the server asked if we wanted hot sauce for our meal so I was able to add that for further spice. Overall I still appreciate the uniqueness of the menu here and would still recommend it for the flavors, but just be prepared for a pricier end of the brunch spectrum.

Yelp
Fun, chill atmosphere. Loved the music theme and nod to local bands that came up out of Sacramento. We sat at the window seats and enjoyed our view of I street and beautiful murals on the outside of the restaurant. We ordered the lettuce wraps, broccolini, and a chicken sandwich. The food was good and quick. We enjoyed our time checking out this deli.

Yelp
My friends and I came for lunch. We ordered the Lemonade, Mexican Coca Cola, Pastrami on Rye, Banana Foster Bread Pudding, Crispy Chicken Sandwich and spice it up with chili crunch with fries, beet salad with fried chicken, and side of fries. The bread pudding was so delicious!

Yelp
Unique restaurant and concept. Solomon's is a restaurant that is based off the old Tower Records store. The food is influenced by the cuisine of their two stores located in Tel Aviv and Japan. We shared the okonomiyaki. There's a little twist to it as it has potatoes/hash brown in it and you can pick some toppings to add in for an additional cost (proteins). The Sapporo sandwich was filling and delicate at the same time. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection, and the milk bun bread added a lot of flavor to the sandwich that I didn't expect. There was a DJ playing music at the front of the restaurant and they sell nice band merch too.

Yelp
OMG! Solomon's, is the place to be at! I made reservations here for my girlfriends birthday brunch. We came out and the entrance and interior is gorgeous with art with its own style. The service from entry all the way to the end of our time there was amazing. Staff is super friendly. I ordered our drinks, Teaches of Peaches and Soak up the Sun, both very delicious and refreshing on a hot summer morning. I decided to try the Japanese pancake (OKONOMINAKI) and that was outstanding, this is a must try! My girlfriend ended up ordering The Burger with a side of fries and was very yummy as well. Burger at 10am? Why not! This is somewhere that I will want to bring friends and family for breakfast. Thank you Solomon's!

Yelp
There's not denying that this place is cool looking. The mural and deco inside is worth a visit. The hipster vibe is strong here, but it's backed up with some legit appreciation of music. Our party of five came on a Sunday morning and we were promptly seated (without reservations.) I went for the Japanese omelette because the description made it sound like a flavorful breakfast delight. Others went with the mushroom wrap. My omelette came out in about 15 minutes, whereas the wraps took another 15 minutes after that. It was kind of a bummer to not be able to eat with each other. The staff was friendly, but in the 45 minutes we were there, we went through three servers and that probably contributed to the hodgepodge manner in which the food items came out. There just seemed to be an underlying feeling of disorganization about this place. With so many options in Sac to explore, sadly this is one place that we won't be back to visit.

Yelp
Got there Sunday morning around 10:00. Already a wait, but oh so worth it. My friend and I started with mimosas. I did the flight with blueberry/lavender, pineapple/celery, and grapefruit. All were very good, but the winner is that blueberry lavender! Yummy. We split the chicken empanada which was served piping hot and so flavorful. We also split the Japanese omelet dish and added mushrooms. Goodness gracious do yourself a favor and order it. The flakes on top are the perfect amount of saltiness and crunch and are the star of the dish. I can't wait to be back in Sacramento to go again and try the lox and bagels.

Yelp
Good service, yummy food, fun vibe. Come early for brunch on the weekends or expect a (worthwhile) wait!

Yelp
A group of 6 of us came after the CIM we showed up just before noon. The place was pretty busy and the only spot for 6 was bar seating so we couldn't face each other. The decor is bright and fun, they had music playing the whole time and we went up to look at the listening lounge. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and it was okay. Not the best pastrami sandwich I have ordered but it wasn't bad. You mostly get fries on the plate (like 60% of your plate). I wish I ordered the French toast with fried chicken, my friend and a lot of other customers orders this dish and it looked delicious. The service was friendly, but it took a while for the food to come out, possibly cause of the lunch rush on a Sunday. I would like to come back sometime to try other dishes!

Yelp
We arrived early and they actually insisted on seating us! That's very unusual and a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious, and I especially enjoyed the unique retro design of the restaurant.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place since it seems to be the only one in the area with Khachapuri. This place stands out- very colorful. Weekend brunch has a DJ with live music- loud and fun. If you're looking to have a party with brunch this is the place. I ordered the special khachapuri with arugula, bacon, figs and balsamic dressing. It was absolutely delicious- though I would have liked more balsamic and figs. A little sparse but tasty nonetheless. The dough was perfect. I was a little disappointed when the waiter said the orange juice was "out of a jug but not cheap". It just tasted like Tropicana. I think this place could really kick it up a notch if they had it fresh squeezed to go along with the flavorful food. Id like to come back and try the lox bagel- it looked yummy.

Yelp
TL;DR: Expensive tiny bagels, cold wait staff, no almond milk, disappointed- but willing to try again. As a bagel enthusiast, I was thoroughly disappointed with Solomons. To give a bit of context, Solomons has been toted as some of the best you can get in the Sacramento Valley, and I cannot say that sentiment is true. The vibe is immaculate. You are getting a fusion of what the K street corridor was before DOCO and a historical call back to Tower Cafe and a new hipster kind of place. I love it for that reason. There is so much hidden history at this location, and I appreciate how they kept all of the parts of it to make it what it is today. Nevertheless, one cannot survive off of vibes alone, especially when food is involved. Here is what you are getting when it comes to the food and what we ordered: - 1 sesame bagel with Lox - 1 Everything bagel with Lox Nothing special to order for this round because I am of the notion that if this cannot be done well, chances of others being done well are concerningly low. Bagles came out, and they were SMALL. Much smaller than I had expected and much smaller than you could get at the grocery store. For the two of us to go, it was about $36. Here is what, if I am going to pay $36, I expect greatness and in a larger quantity. Finally, regarding the food, I found it SO ODD that they only carry oat milk, not almond milk. As somebody with an oat allergy, it was different to see a company carry more "uncommon" milk than the everywhere almond dairy alternative. But for us, it isn't just about the cost of the food; we expect to pay for food when we are out and about. For me, it is more the service. I expect that when we walk into a resto, we are treated like every other customer. I understand that others will need more assistance/attention, but I don't expect that we will be forgotten or ignored. We sat outside, and this wasn't the busiest that I had seen Solomon's since they opened, but it was the slowest I had seen. I was disappointed that there was a table that sat down after us, getting service and drink offers before us. Our waitress forgot to bring us our check, so we went up to the front to pay, and luckily somebody else was there. In the in-between, though, when we got our food, our waitress never checked on us; she dropped it off, told us they didn't have almond milk, and bounced. Even when we were leaving, she was more invested in something on the ground than her customers. In terms of the wait staff, we got a fluke because as I was watching everybody else interact with their wait staff, they were getting things quickly and with a smile.
